About the author

Susan George is a well-known political scientist and writer on global social justice, Third World poverty, underdevelopment and debt. She is a fellow and president of the board of the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam. She is a fierce critic of the present policies of the IMF, World Bank, and what she calls their "maldevelopment model". She similarly criticizes the structural reform policies of the Washington Consensus on Third World development. She is of U.S. birth but now resides in France, and has dual citizenship.

In January 2007 she received an honorary doctorate from Newcastle University in the UK and in early March the International Studies Association at its congress in Chicago presented her with its first award to an Outstanding Public Scholar.

Aunque el trasfondo es una ficción, en la que un elitista grupo de super-ricos (que se reúne en Lugano, muy cerca de Davos) encarga secretamente a un grupo de expertos un informe sobre una posible estrategia de control social que salve el capitalismo, los datos y hechos explicados por el grupo no solo son verosímiles -en lo que alcancé a comprobar- sino que frecuentemente son reales

Esta élite se cuida de mostrarse como es y -por supuesto- de cuales son sus verdaderos fines, porque sería imposible lograr nada con transparencia. Por otra parte, los muy bien pagados informantes, como los esbirros de la élite del mundo real, aportan lo mejor de sí para satisfacer las inhumanas exigencias de los solicitantes (del informe)

Vale la pena leerlo, aunque a veces puede ser difícil de digerir que pueda ser posible tanta maldad
Sin embargo, los hechos muestran que sí es posible (a fin de cuentas en el poder abundan los psicópatas y sociópatas).

No llega al nivel de su antecesor, el Informe Lugano I, en el que se realizó un análisis tan brutal que parece que fue escrito en 2010 hablando sobre la crisis. Este es más reciente y aún se necesita algo de perspectiva para ver si fue tan acertado en el carácter premonitorio como el Informe Lugano I. Aunque sin duda el análisis que realiza es acertado, y a mí me ha dejado de piedra el proceso de desdemocratización de la UE, tan encubierto que solo desde este libro he logrado entender la magnitud del asunto. Lo que no deja lugar a dudas es que desde arriba se está lanzando un mensaje que puede acabar filtrándose de verdad en el ideario de todos, si no lo ha hecho ya, y la única forma de pararlo es de unirnos y decir quién es de verdad el que manda: el pueblo.

Militante franco-américaine, Susan George cherche à nous convaincre des désordres du monde avec cet essai de politique fiction. Si elle est convaincante sur certaines idées, comme le soft power des élites libérales minant la démocratie et l'état providence, elle se perd en multipliant les bons ou mauvais motifs d'indignation. Dénonçant avec justesse l'article 123 du traité de Lisbonne et l'incroyable cadeau fait aux banques européennes, elle se noie dans le comptage des bonus de la taxe carbone. On peut enfin regretter que maniant autant de questions sur le devenir du monde, Susan George n'apporte que peu de solutions aux problèmes parfois vrais qu'elle soulève.
