The last thing Desmond Pike wants to do is settle down with an omega and produce an heir, but when the pressure from his family becomes too much, he knows the only way out is finding someone to pretend to be his fiancé.
Jace Takahashi knows his Alpha boss is the opposite of what he wants in a partner, but his touch... his kiss... they're all Jace desires. It doesn't take long before he can't pretend anymore, when the feelings growing between them are turning into something real, but when Desmond betrays him, can Jace forgive the Alpha who has stolen his heart?

~ MM omegaverse ~ fake relationship ~ 🥵 smut ~ third act break up
Jace and Desmond become involved in a fake relationship. After helping Jace through his heat Desmond plots to keep Jace by his side while Jace has trust issues about just being used as an omega, but falls for Des.
The smut is really good, we get a heat AND a rut. Phew 😮💨. They can’t keep their hands, or cocks, off each other. There’s some breeding, but we don’t know if Des is doing it intentionally or subconsciously as he just stops using condoms. We’re never shared that information, but it does seem intentional. Unfortunately Des has said he’ll never fall in love again after his heart was broke years ago, but he still wants to keep Jace and thinks he doesn’t need love. Of course Jace learns about Desmond’s plotting and dishonesty and leaves.
This is where I dropped a star because Desmond doesn’t fight for Jace. He plays pity party and leaves him a note in his old apartment with his love confession that Jace coincidentally finds. HEA. It was such a weak and rushed ending to an otherwise good story. We don’t even get a birthing scene or an epilogue. A very hot read, Desmond needs to learn some aftercare, could have had a better ending.

Fake relationship turn sudden wedding turn learning it’s okay to love. This book covers what feels a vast plot arc in just 230 pages. Jace and Desmond’s chemistry is off the charts, and this omegaverse world is entertaining to read. Lot of spice, but still plenty of character growth.
