It's not as bad as it looks

“Wait—What? You are where now?” This is the phrase that has come to haunt us. In this funny, whimsical, and sometimes accidentally informative tale, Andy continues the story started in “Mistakes were Made,” as the couple return to the USA, after ending up in England when their attempt at a life in Spain goes awry. Their long-suffering puppies, Pi and Archie, now have more air miles than Richard Branson and Tom Cruise combined, and all they want is to wake up in their little beds, in the same country for more than three weeks in a row. It does seem unlikely, I grant you that, but has the grass finally had a chance to grow under travel weary feet and furry paws? ★★★ Buy a copy today to find out ★★★

Along with many like-minded souls, 2020 was the year I finally broke free of the constraints of life in corporate America. Fueled by a renewed passion and creativity I decided to pursue my new life as a full-time author.

Originally from Southport in England my wife, Paula, and I, lived and worked in the USA for 15 wonderful years, and then moved to Spain to enjoy a quiet life in the endless sunshine of the Mediterranean. Instead, we ended up embroiled in the tribulations of the pandemic. I wrote and self-published my first book “Mistakes Were Made” after that (mis) adventure.

At heart always British, we loved living in the U.S.A but will never vocalize the American pronunciations of basil, banana, or tomato. We now live with our two dogs in leafy Somerset, land of apples, cider, and weather so perpetually wet, ‘wellies’ are considered formal wear.

Definitely an enjoyable and humorous read. Move after move and many adventures. I’m looking forward to the next book installment.

Loved the book but I am stunned by all the house buying and then selling: the last one moving in finally then selling after 12 weeks? What is going on here!! Looking forward to the next book - but don’t do it just for your readers (ha ha). Never heard anything like it; but hey, whatever makes you happy 😄

yes again!

Great, if not exhausting read! Back and forth across the Atlantic, again! I won't spoil it, just to say it's worth the read to continue Andy and Paula + pups life adventures and you won't believe the ending ... to be continued 🌍🐐🚢🚶🚣🚵🗽

Victims of self punishment

Some great humour pulls together a story of a man's quest to find the perfect place to live (essentially). Had me in tears at times... references to Viz and Fru T Bunn had me bent double. I look forward to the next edition. No doubt driving the dogs..and Paula to further despair

I feel stressed and tired for them! If you enjoy Bill Bryson, there are some similarities in the author’s use of humour and prose. I’ve read all 3 in quick succession and hope that’s the end of the series….for their sake and mental wellbeing and most of all for Pi and Archie.

as always, amusing

Fun reboot to the reboot. Makes me dizzy counting the back and forths. I’m beginning to feel like the dogs, amazed and all flabbers gasted.
But Andy’s self deprecating style is funny so I keep reading.

(3.5 rounded to 4.0)

This book is actually a sequel. The first book (“Mistakes Were Made”) began in 2020 when the author leaves corporate America and relocates to the Mediterranean. This took place at the beginning of the COVID crisis in Europe. I have not read that book. I picked up this book based on the description of “funny, whimsical and sometimes accidentally informative” and the cover appeared to feature a really nice dog.

The book begins in 2021 when the couple (Andy and Paula) have made their way from the Mediterranean to the U.K. just as the COVID restrictions reached full force. The first part of the book we get to know the couple, their sons, and their dogs. Their youngest son is settled in Atlanta and they find themselves lonely in the U.K. They begin the process of selling out in England and returning to the U.S. The most interesting part of this process was the preparing and shipping of the dogs. Once they begin to settle into their Atlanta home we follow the renovations of the house and their efforts to build a pool. The construction woes are somewhat interesting. After the renovations are completed, the decision is made to reverse this process and return to the U.K.

I found the book pleasant enough and more than “accidentally informative” but “funny and laugh out loud” is not what I would use to describe the book. I found all of the moving, real estate maneuvering and musical houses were more tiring than amusing. That said, I finished the book and found the differences interesting as to how the U.S. and the U.K dealt with the COVID crises. Also I would have liked to hear more about the dogs.

Another entertaining episode in the travelling life of two frequent fliers, Alfie & Pi. “Dad, please stay in one place”. Those dogs must be so confused. At least they didn’t know in advance that the house was not going to be ready…& they would be here, there & everywhere again, this time by car! (Don’t remind them of Spain…it won’t be that hot!). Third & final book in The Tailspin Travelogue Series…for now!? Please read in order… to fully understand all that Alfie & Pi have endured…whoops…enjoyed!

very funny read

I’m beginning to think that this guy is slightly unhinged! Who, in their right mind, puts themselves through this upheaval? Those poor dogs. I’m glad he did though because it’s hilarious, wonderfully descriptive writing, and laugh out loud comments to certain ‘difficult’ people, can’t wait to read the next chapter.

Another compulsive read.

Another interesting book by Andy, detailing his nomadic nature and inability to stay in one place for any length of time. Amusing and detailed life stories.

🖋️ Meh. I found it difficult to read this work, with the missing punctuation, indecisive spellings, the vacillating use between acronyms and complete words, high-hattedness, snark, politicalizations, unfunniness, and overall disrespect. 🗑 Conversely, other readers may find this story their cup of tea and right up their alley. I do like the clever cover, which is eye-catching! There is something to read for everyone who can read.
