Code name: Garrison “Cowboy” Cassidy Target: Winslow Greer Mission: Take the ski champion to new peaks. COWBOY Being quiet and reserved makes cracking cases and taking down enemies—one vile and malicious criminal at a time—easy for a stealthy agent like me. But when I meet Winslow, it requires every bit of my reserve to take it slow. I know once I give in to her tantalizing ways, it's going to be one fast, slippery slope of passion and pleasure. WINSLOW Death. The end. My final hurrah. At least that’s what I thought. But by some miracle, I escaped. Saving myself. That’s not enough, though. It’s not over. Peril is imminent, and I need help. Safety. Security. And there’s only one man I trust. But can I really put my life in the hands of a sexy cowboy in tight denims and a country drawl?
While each book in the K19 Shadow Operations Series is a standalone with its own HEA, the books may be more enjoyable read in order.
A*R*C for honest review with no compensation Received from BookSprout
Code Name: Cowboy is book 4 in the K19 Shadow Operations by Heather Slade and a great addition to this series! While each book is a standalone, reading in order gives you a better understanding of the underlying story.
Up next is Garrison “Cowboy” Cassidy and Winslow Greer, Olympic skier who is kidnapped and K19 is tapped to find her along with other women who have disappeared. Winslow escapes and when she meets Cowboy something tells her she can trust him with her life.
Suspense, kidnapping, twists, turns, steamy, chemistry and so much more…can’t wait for the next book in this series…
"Code Name: Cowboy" (K19 Shadow Operations Book 4) by Heather Slade was a terrific read. I loved Garrison 'Cowboy' and Winslow's story. This story had romance, military veterans, entertaining and interesting characters, suspense, twists, and more. This was a wonderful addition to this series. I can't wait to see what happens next. Highly recommend it to all fans of romance, suspense, military, and series.
This series is becoming very repetitive. Same storyline with different names and code names. (I find the names confusing.) The author balances the suspense and romance well. As with the other books the couple get their HEA and the serial killers are on the loose. So another cliff hanger.
Code Name: Cowboy is book four in the KI9 Shadow Operations Team One Series, Garrison Cassidy aka Cowboy and Winslow Greer’s story, their story is a continuation of a serial killer or killers on the loose in the Alaskan Adirondack’s. Winslow is a famous olympic skier that is there at the camp training meeting and she arrives early but she doesn’t make it into the meeting. She has been kidnapped! Immediately the KI9 Shadow Operations Team has been notified, and Cowboy is assigned as the leader on this case. Fast Forward-Winslow escapes from her capturer, a couple driving down the road pick her up and take her to the local police department. Cowboy and some of his team go to the police department, the minute that Cowboy walks into the room Cowboy and Winslow have an immediate connection. Their chemistry is off the charts. Winslow knows she doesn’t want anyone else protecting her than Cowboy. They discover as each day passes while protecting her, trying to figure out this ever growing mystery with a serial killer or as they seem to be discovering killers their feelings for each other are becoming more and more solid with each day. They are having to move Winslow from location to location to keep her safe. This kept me on the edge of my seat, shaking my head numerous times, holding my breath and downright teary eyed. Lots of emotions up and down the emotion gamut. This is an amazing series as with any other series by Ms. Slade if you haven’t ventured into the stories she writes about you are missing out. This author draws you in, hangs onto you right up until the very last word and you look up for the first time in hours and say “Oh my word, I’ve got to have the next book. NOW!!” Now, I wait…Yes The book is that Good. It is a standalone, but I truly believe you would get more out of it if you started with book one, you would have more background information, but it isn’t absolutely a must. It is definitely a must read either way you choose to read it - Just read it! I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
Whenever a book is part of a series, and I'm interested I always want to know, do you need to read the previous books? The answer is no, but I suggest you do because they are great stories. This is the 4th book in the K19 spin off K19 Shadow Operations. Heather Slade has all these awesome characters who make random appearances in her books that they eventually get their own story or series. I say keep them coming! If you read the first 3 books, this one takes place after those, maybe a few days in the scheme of a timeline. Again, don't need to read them, but if you did the first 3 stories are basically taking place simultaneously just told from a different point of view, whomever that particular book is about. This timeline basically starts with the conclusion of WASP and continues, but I'm not telling you about WASP ya'll just need to go read it yourself. Garrison "Cowboy" is drawn to Winslow even though he never met her, and he is determined to rescue her, although she's a strong feisty woman who figured her own way out of trouble, and right into Cowboy's presence. It's not instalove, but they both feel a pulling connection that they can't explain and slowly burn themselves into hot love. It doesn't end as a cliff hanger, but the K19 Shadow Operations team has more questions than answers regarding their case of a serial killer in upstate New York, think the Lake Placid area. We'll have to see what direction the investigation takes in book five, which I can't wait for. I received this book as an ARC for an honest and voluntary review.
From their very first meeting, Winslow and Garrison have an instant connection that just keeps getting stronger and stronger. Personally, this is my favorite romance trope because it's exactly what happened when I met my husband. Their video dates were so charming and tender; it wasn't hard to see their love growing each and every day.
Garrison - known as Cowboy - is a terrific cinnamon roll hero, and the way he takes care of Winslow as she recovers from a horrific ordeal is downright swoon worthy. Winslow is no shrinking violet, though, and as her strength comes back, so does her focus and she's as determined as any of the agents to get to the bottom of this serial killer investigation.
The author keeps you on the edge of your seat as the investigation intensifies, and the jaw-dropping ending was both creepy and enthralling. I can't wait to see how this case turns out! Cowboy and Winslow get a Texas-sized HEA but the danger isn't over until the master killer is stopped.
If you've read any of the books in this series, you know you can't quit until you find out who is behind all the deaths. If this is your first book, it's a great place to start but don't blame me if you decide you have to go back and read the rest! I highly recommend this entire series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
K19 Shadow operations are continuing to investigate the kidnapping/murders that continue to occur. The action starts as we meet Olympic skier Winslow Greer who has been taken captive. She is strong, and has been trained for this. She is thoughtfully waiting for her opportunity.
Cowboy has a picture of Winslow in front of him at all times. He feels she is still alive, and that there is a connection between them. Winslow is given that escape opportunity, and Cowboy is immediately on-site to question her and protect her, as her captor and others are still out there taking women. Winslow feels the same connection upon meeting Cowboy. Only his presence allows her to sleep.
As more is learned about the extent of the kidnappings/murders, dangers increase, tensions rise, and greater precautions are made. A thrilling episode in these stories around the efforts to stop these crimes and protect from further kidnappings.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
Olympic Skier Winslow Greer is the latest reported missing person. Garrison 'Cowboy' Cassidy is determined to find her before the worst happens. Whether it was a mistake or on purpose her kidnapper left her a way to escape. When she realizes she can get free, she does and runs for help.
Cowboy is notified as is Mayhem and they head to the police station. Once her parents arrive the situation is a bit touchy.
The interview with Winslow leads them to where she was held but then dead bodies start showing up, along with additional threats. Now they have to devise a plan to keep her safe while the search continues.
There are so many revelations in this book that are horrifying, and tension escalates as they try to identify possible victims.
Obviously, there is a connection between Winslow and Cowboy and that only grows with time together.
I really love how we get to see folks from other series as well as those added to this one.
So much frustration but things are starting to be resolved, as I now wait for the next book in this series.
Winslow, Olympian skier, is kidnapped, but managed to escape and found a couple who took her to the safety of the local police. Cowboy is assigned to the case, which had been associated to others. He is attracted to her photo and before Winslow reappears, he was convinced she was still alive and determined to find her. Interest is immediate on both sides and her strength of character proves to present the opportunity for it to develop into much more. Keeping her safe is a priority and at an undisclosed venue is essential. Spider, working within the search team is shady, Casper is ghost like, Winslow's parents are demanding. Beneath all the undercurrents, there lies the question and instinct of who can be trusted and danger is coming from more than one direction; only time will tell when will it strike and hurt the most. Vigilance and attention to details is vital..it is not going to be over soon.
Cowboy is with K19 Shadow Operations. The team is looking for Winslow who disappeared going to a team meeting for the Olympics. She is a skier. Cowboy feels drawn to her just by looking at her picture. She was kidnapped, but ended up escaping on her own. When she gets to the police station, Cowboy goes in to see her. It’s an instant connected on both their parts, which can’t be explained. Cowboy and Winslow are so in tuned to each other, they know what the other is thinking. This story has a dangerous plot. More of the mystery is solved, but not all. Winslow has to keep Winslow safe at all costs. The intensity between them grows with every second. It’s a wonderful love story, always with a case to be solved. There’s no way you can put this book down once you’ve started reading it. It’s extremely heartfelt. Looking forward to the next one in this great series!
Cowboy and Winslow were amazing characters. Very realistic I felt, bonded by the fates, before they even meet in person. She was a champion skier, quite humble, yet strong in her beliefs of what is right. So strongwilled, pulling on that strength from her upbringing by loving and logical grandparents, she's a survivor, not a victim! Cowboy just wants her safe from the ongoing threats, and will do whatever's needed to ensure that, no matter the cost. A diverse journey here with so many facets, keeping me glued till the Happy Ever and Surprising End, at least for Garrison and Winslow! There's a whole 'nother story connecting this series of five books, so while the mains get their happy endings at the end of each book, they are all needed to help solve the serial killings spanning decades! So twisty and I cannot figure it out...yet. Soon, very soon, it will be revealed, and not a minute before.
I absolutely loved reading Code Name Cowboy . It's so well written and the story just gets deeper and deeper with each book . While it's best to read them in order each story concentrates on a different couple . The story is intense and action packed and all out sensational . Winslow Greer has been held captive and getting the chance to escape she does . Garrison Cowboy Cassidy has felt a unexplained connection to Winslow while the team has been searching for her and the serial killers Surprised when he received the call she escaped and is at the police station he's sent in as the lead of the case . Cowboy tried to fight the feelings he finds immediately he has for her . Winslow also finds herself drawn to him . Cowboy will do whatever needs done to protect the women he realizes he loves . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
Winslow Greer, an Olympic skier, was the latest woman to be kidnapped and held hostage, only she was able to escape her captor and survive. Cowboy was on the mission to help find and rescue her and the more he looked at her picture the closer he felt to her. The serial killer is still out there and the plot thickens. More bodies are being found and no answers. Cowboy and Winslow confess their strong feelings heedless to what the experts say and take their vows. Winslow still isn’t safe, the killer still wants her regardless that she is now married. How could the killer know that since Winslow has been hiding in a secure place. Another awesome and exciting addition to this series. Can’t wait for more and hopefully some answers to who the serial killer is.

Once again we are on a thrilling breakneck read with The Shadow Operations team and somehow Heather manages to make every story appear fresh and like always once you start you don't want to put it down
If you have been following this series then you know that they are all basically set in the same time frame and that Winslow has been taken by the person/people who are taking women but this ski champion isn't the sort to sit back and be rescued she is waiting her opportunity and manages to escape all by herself Garrison(Cowboy) is part of the team searching for the women and for some reason he has locked onto Winslow he is sure she is still alive so once she escapes he is determined to be the one to keep her safe There is a strong attraction between them and neither is willing to fight it but can they haven a future You will need to read to see
A good romantic, suspenseful story. “There was an undeniable attraction between us, something neither of us could resist. And let me tell you, we both tried.” It ends on a cliff hanger which I'm not fond of but it's a great story.
Winslow was an Olympic skier. She was kidnapped from the ski area on her way to a team meeting. She never thought she would be in this situation. “Reminders from my survival training played over in my head. Gain your captor’s trust was first and foremost.” She needed to find a way to escape.
Garrison worked for K19 Shadow Operations, a private intelligence security firm. They were investigating a serial killer, one who had kidnapped Wasp. Now an Olympic skier is missing and he fears the worst. As he stares at her picture, he can't help but admire how beautiful she is. I won't stop looking for you, he said when there was a knock on the door.
This is book 4 in the series and I do recommend reading them in order. While this is a standalone in the series, the overarching story lines continues through the books (and since all of them have been great, why not?). This picks up where the last book left off in the kidnapping plot. This story does focus on one couple and their story is complete with HEA. Winslow Greer is the latest victim but she manages to escape and Cowboy comes to the rescue. As usual a fast paced plot and a tight story line with no needless fluff. Great characters development. We know Cowboy but not as well as we get to know him when he runs into Winslow. While danger is close, she’s strong and doesn’t just fall apart. They make a great team and the romance is just right. Highly recommended (and the others in the series too).
There was something about Winslow Greer's picture that mesmerized Garrison Cassidy AKA Cowboy. He became relentless in his search for her, refusing to believe she'd become a statistic. She proves her strength and resilience by escaping the clutches of her abductor. The minute Cowboy knelt at her side she felt safe and unafraid. Navigating emotions after a life threatening event is fraught with pitfalls. But the pull between these two is palpable. She's still in danger because she's the one who got away. The Shadow Ops team, FBI, CIA and now members of the Invincibles edge ever closer to uncovering the killer's identity but it's a painstaking process that becomes more horrifying with every advancement made. Cowboy and Winslow know without ant uncertainty that they're lives are forever intertwined as their loves grows stronger by the day.
Cowboy/Garrison and Winslow. Love at first sight, but in a heartfelt way. I loved how all the leadership gave words of caution on feelings, but the teammates said go with gut. The danger from the serial killer(s) took on a new depth and concern which brought in another security firm and location. I am still with my questions on the lawyers role, especially after meeting his brother at the in!
Loved seeing those team members and I wonder if they have their own series…I hope so! We have some more questionable characters who either are just horrible people or part of the danger…hello spider and Casper… and we see Mayhem in more scenes and irritating more people 😂 a new character is mentioned in passing and I am excited to see her story. The ending brought in the POV of the head? Bad guy and I was not expecting that!
Hold on to your hats! Cowboy is going to take you for a ride you don’t want to get off of. Garrison is so sensual and dearing. He is everything you want from a man and the way he puts Winslow first will have you swooning. Cowboy is definitely in the top 10 book boyfriends now. And Winslow is no princess. She’s fierce and a survivor not a victim. She doesn’t apologize for wanting to find herself and be better. The serial killers and the mastermind behind everything will keep you guessing as new clues emerge. My suspicions are running crazy trying to figure it out. Heather Slade will have you craving for more as she dives you further into the Shadow Ops. Get ready to mark your calendars in anticipation for the next book: Mayhem!
Code Name: Cowboy is the 4th book in the series and the suspense plot continues straight on from the previous book, with Cowboy and his team mates looking for yet another kidnapped woman: Winslow Greer. She is an incredibly strong person and manages to flee. When she meets Cowboy for the first time, their connection is instantaneous. Hiding out, the feelings become deeper and deeper, leading to their personal HEA, even though the threat to her life is not over - and neither is the investigation into the serial killers. There is no cliff-hanger per se, but the ending will definitely leave you wanting more!.

This is the fourth book in this incredible series, and this is Garrison / Cowboy’s story. Cowboy is past of the k19 team, and they have working on a case to find Winslow, who is a skier, and she disappeared after a team meeting for the Olympics. Winslow was kidnapped and when the opportunity become available, she jumped at it and escapes by herself. Winslow heads to the police station, and Cowboy is sent there to speak to her. There is an intense attraction between them. This is a well written story which is action packed, and is intense, intriguing, and heartfelt, with suspense, danger, mystery, romance, and love, which is a compelling page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Garrison “Cowboy” Cassidy is a quiet and reserved, does not really talk that much to his roommate. The team is looking for Winslow Greer, a champion skier, training for the Olympics, it may be connected to the serial killer they are trying to catch. Cowboy is drawn to her before he meets her, in fact he is kind of cool to her ex that has been assigned to the case. When she manages to escape her kidnapper, she makes to the police station, where she meets Cowboy.
The danger is not over, Cowboy will do everything necessary to keep Winslow. The sparks fly even as the danger heats up. I love this series, cannot wait for the next one.
I received an Advance Readers Copy of this book with no obligation to write a review.
Garrison "Cowboy" Cassidy's attraction to Winslow Greer started before meeting the woman. The K19 Shadow Ops was tasked to find and rescue her. However, she escaped and saved herself. When Cowboy met Winslow at the police station, she fell into his arms and felt safe for the first time since the ordeal started. This story was more romance than suspense, but it was a refreshing slow-burn romance. In the background, the search for the suspect continued. I loved this book and look forward to the next one in the series.

Winslow is an Olympic skier, she's on her way to a team meeting when she's kidnapped, Cowboy is one of the team searching for her. He keeps looking at her photo, something about her has caught his attention, he's sure she's still alive, he can feel it. Winslow takes advantage of a mistake made by the kidnapper, but is it a mistake? Cowboy and the team are working the case of a serial killer, but is it just one person, or is he/she in charge and others are doing his/her bidding?

Another amazing suspense story from Heather, can't wait for the next one
An edge of your seat addition to the series that doesn’t disappoint. Harrison is part of a group of elite men that specializes in behind the scene actions. As he gets more in depth with Winslow’s case, he knew he had to find her and when he gets the break he didn’t expect what happens. From the first meeting Winslow and Garrison had a connection during a time in her life that she needed him. I love the suspense that keeps you guessing and the twist that will keep you flipping pages until the jaw dropping ending. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this must read series!
Winslow was kidnapped and found a way to escape. She found an instant connection with Garrison, code name, Cowboy. However, he has an ethical dilemma. He is assigned to her detail and must keep a professional distance. How long can he keep his distance? While the two grapple with their feelings, danger still lurks, and Winslow must go into hiding. Someone is kidnapping and killing women, and we are yet to find out who the culprit is. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like romantic suspense. My only complaint is that we don’t yet have all the answers to our questions. There are more books in the series yet to come.
Another wonderful book from Ms Slade. Cowboy, aka Garrison, is obsessed with finding the latest victim of a serial killer. He can't seem to rest until Winslow is rescued. Meanwhile Winslow is being held captive but not sexually abused. She is desperate to escape and eventually finds a way and runs. Garrison is assigned to her protection detail and they are inexplicably drawn to each other. A very suspenseful story is combined with a beautiful romance. It seems like each male character in this series becomes my favorite, until the next book. Same with Cowboy. So alpha but so sweet and loving. But the killer is still out there and I look forward to reading Mayhem's story next!
I think Cowboy is the most romantic character yet. It's an instant love attraction, but it's slow burning at the same time. Winslow has rescued herself, she is her own savior, that's what Cowboy says. I loved the video chats and the clouds clearing and "a ray of sunshine blanketed the two of us in warmth." The killer is still out there but the author has weaved quite a story throughout this series and you can't help but want more. We have a HEA for them, but the next loosened thread has bee let go and we are off following another path. Love it
As always Heather has come through again on a page turner of a book. I could not put book down and read it while moving it was that good. The chemistry between Cowboy and Winslow is there from the beginning and you just feel it building. Disappointed when the book ended as I wanted more story as always. Keeps me wanting more and waiting for the next book. Heather sure knows how to write a series that you can't put down and keeps all those character cross overs so connected.

Wow this series just keeps getting better and better. Cowboy and Winslow’s story does not disappoint. They both feel an instant connection at their first meeting . Winslow has escaped her kidnapper and Cowboy already tangled up in her case with K19 try and figure out what is going on and how to stop it. The further they dig the crazier it gets. This is a fast paced, full of suspense and touching romance read! Can’t wait for Mayhem!.
