When Pete Zakroff published his first book in 2020, he never dreamed of completing a trilogy of more than 300 stories. In this, his third tome, Pete has assembled yet another collection of not only his own life experiences, adventures and astute observations of the world around him, but has also included several “special moments” from close friends and associates worth retelling.Throughout the book Pete continues to demonstrate the sense of humor, imagination and nostalgia that sustained him throughout his more than 50-year career as a writer, photographer, and producer. Enjoy the read!
Pete Zakroff always believed he had a knack for writing. He’d been doing it in some shape or form since the age of seven. At the start, they were simple postcards from summer camp designed to let his parents know on a daily basis that things were going well or not.
When Pete started to prepare to write for a living, a journalism professor in college told him two things to remember: (1) Write about what you know, and (2) Sell it before you write it. He kept those points in mind as he wrote and published numerous articles during his career. Now, in retirement, he modified one of those two points a little. Pete still believes in writing about what you know. However, as for the second point, “Sell it before you write it,” it’s now, “Tell it before you get the last rites.”
Over the last half century, as a writer, producer, and instructional designer, he has authored programs on just about everything from A to Z. Still driven to write, Pete has compiled more than 101 vignettes describing his journey from childhood to retirement. These events and experiences have molded Pete’s character, the man he developed into, and how he approached life and work.
A blend of humor, nostalgia and practicality, every reader will discover a little of life’s wisdom for themselves.
