What To Do When You Are Stuck and Nothing Seems to Work?

Rate this book
If someone looked you in the eye and said: I can wave a magic wand and get you UNSTUCK right now so that you'll have all the ideas you need in life to make money or live better, how much is that worth?

In 2005, the worst nightmare of Richard Dotts' professional career as an entrepreneur and consultant happened. He ran out of ideas - moneymaking ideas, business ideas, problem-solving ideas, book ideas, marketing ideas, product ideas. Nothing he came up with seemed to work for himself or his clients. For the next two years, he would read one creativity or idea-generation book after another, trying to "get unstuck". But nothing worked.

Whether you are an entrepreneur, author, coach, consultant or even an employee, your livelihood depends on you generating good ideas that other people will pay for. Your employers pay you for the ideas you generate, so do your clients. You get promoted or hired based on them. But what happens if you suddenly find yourself unmotivated, procrastinating and unable to come up with any good, profitable ideas?

Looking back at those two darkest years, Richard Dotts realized that what he needed back then wasn't "more ideas" or "more creativity". That's why all of the books he read in those days did not work for him those are already for people with lots of creative juices flowing! But what about a person whose creative juices have stopped flowing completely, and nothing seems to even remotely work?

In his latest work What To Do When You Are STUCK?, bestselling spiritual author and teacher Richard Dotts adopts a practical approach to ideas and solutions generation in life. Whether you are stuck in business, your career, or just life in general, unable to find the motivation and strength to move on after a setback, this book contains 6 quick jabs that will jolt and shock you into action in no time even before you finish reading!

These are the very same techniques that Dotts has used for himself to build 4 successful and separate careers from scratch, in 4 distinct fields. Discover:

■ How to generate a stream of creative ideas and solutions when you have run out of steam and nothing seems to work.
■ How to jolt yourself back into action after suffering a setback or negative event.
■ How to deal with chronic procrastination or laziness, or that feeling of apathy in life.
And more...

This is not a theoretical book filled with theories and ideas. This is an ACTION book specially designed and written to JOLT you into positive action, even before you finish reading the book and set it down!

I don't know if I'm just hypersensitive to errors in the things I read or if it's just sloppy editing, but this book, which does contain some useful advice, is loaded with errors. I guess that comes with the age of self-publishing to make a sale.
I gave it three stars because I will use some of the "jabs" he suggested to push me into action on some endeavors I've been putting off.
If you're looking for ideas to get you out of the rut you think you're in, don't read this book. As he says, you already have all the ideas you need. You just need a little jab to get moving again.

Quick read to redirect your thoughts and keep moving

Some strategies to inventory as you move through seasons in your life. Anyone can implement at least one of these if not all of them at anytime. Basically, just keep moving and stop looking back or over analyzing every step.
Very quick read!

I read this in 2017, when I wasn't happy with my job. It brought immense solace & awesome tips to quickly come out of it. The general vibe & voice of the book is very empowering. This time over, once again I'm a bit down due to my job & the same empowerment was delivered yet again.

Thanks for all the support, Richard.

Worth the time if you feel stuck.

Short, sweet, and to the point. It's a quick read and wasn't particularly revelatory, but definitely a nice kick in the butt. The book contains good, solid advice. All easily accomplished goals to help the reader get back to accomplishing their goals.

Richards Done it Again

I love simplicity, I love things that are not complicated, that are easy and effortless and most importantly get to the point. Mr. Dotts does exactly that in this book. Love, love, love it! So simple it almost seems like a joke. In a world that has steps for everything, this book hits you where you are, but not by giving you a formula that's one size fits all. You only do what fits your situation. Options are always a good thing.

Just what I needed

The title of this book reached out and grabbed me. I am stuck at a job I dislike just praying for the weekend. Putting myself out there to get a new job is scary. I have been wanting to write and just can't seem to sit down and do it. What if it's no good, what if I sit and look at a blank page for hours. So what! I am the queen of negative self talk. There are a lot of great ideas here to kick myself into gear. Thanks for the JABS

Different

As a huge fan of Richard Dotts, I have read all of his books (I think). This one wasn't really "for"me but I am sure that the universe had me add it to my collection for a reason. As an author myself, there may come a day when I, myself, may be "stuck", and then I will turn to the all-knowing Richard Dotts for guidance.

Good book. Although it is information that is oft repeated, it makes sense to me to keep working on the basics. The book is well-written and thoroughly readable. The short nature of the book makes it that much more effective. I recommend it.

Not bad! A few original ideas, phrased well. Though admittedly I did stop reading several times because of the pacing.
