*Proud to be part of the Open Heart Chronicles novellas*

Maggie and Caleb are married, leaders of their people, parents to their children, and happier than they ever dreamed, even with the visions they saw of it to prove it so. The council is still rebelling against Maggie’s changes, but this time it’s different. It’s almost as if something…or someone is behind them, pulling the strings and making decisions for them.

And Maggie is having strange visions that only she can see, leaving Caleb helpless to help her. But when her visions start to warn her that their daughter, Ava, will one day be in danger, they’ll do anything it takes to find out what’s going on and how to stop it, even paying a visit to a previous Visionary.

Maggie and Caleb must find out who or what is behind it all and stop them before Maggie is one vision too late.

Just when everything is going smoothly in their lives, the Watsons try to screw it all up for Caleb and Maggie. And that is fine. They can deal with those idiots. But when they want to include Ava, Maggie and Caleb's daughter, well, they have another thing coming. No one is going to mess with their children. No one.

Consequence is a great story that is packed full of suspense and intrigue. You wouldn't think it would be since it is a short story, but it is. I was pleasantly surprised with all I found in this little gem of a story. The romance was still there, just like I remembered it. The characters are still fantastic and very much like a family I haven't seen in some time. The storyline was fabulous, which I wouldn't have expected anything less. I was happy with it from start to finish. But the best part? My most absolute favorite of favs part? That would be the lead up to the next book in the series. I so cannot wait to see what Crane has in store for these people. Especially Ava.

A definite must read for fans of the Significance series.

OMG!!!! OMG!!!! OMG!!!!! I cannot wait for the next book! I am so excited that this series isn't over yet, that I don't know what to do!!! This was excellent. I will admit I loved the preview for the next book more so than the novella itself, but I missed Maggie and Caleb and am so happy for where their life is going. Come on Fall 2014!!!!

Oh Shelly Crane, how I love thee! Your talent amazes me book after book!

The Significance series is by far my favorite series of Shelly's and when she announced that she would be adding onto this wonderful of Caleb and Maggie, I may have screamed!

This Novella was a quick read but worth every word of it! Caleb and Maggie's love is still strong, and the Watson's are still trying to find a way back into their lives!

Mostly, I love how Shelly can flash forward so many years and show the growth of the characters, without making them seem 'old'. There is still that same familiarity that holds the characters true to themselves.

I love it and I can't wait to see what is in store for all the characters in the upcoming books!!

I loved how it started leading up to Ava's book...which I can't wait for....gonna be so good!

Well Done Shelly! <3

Let me start by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Shelly Crane. The Significance series is my all-time favorite of hers! In fact it was the first paranormal series I read after Twilight and to this day it is my favorite of them all. I just LOVE Maggie and Caleb so much, I could spend my days engrossed in their lives and the drama that follows the Jacobson clan. So when I first heard about Consequence and followed the teasers that Shelly Crane offered, I could not wait until its release. Well let me tell you that from the moment I started this book I could not put it down.

Reading Consequence, I felt like I was reunited with old friends. Although it's been quite a while since I've spent time with the Jacobsons, I immediately recalled every detail of the series and felt so happy to be back with Caleb and Maggie. The story is short, it's a novella and it is just perfect. The Watson family is up to no good and once again it is up to Maggie to make everything better and right the wrongs. While the other supporting characters are there in the background the plot really focuses on Caleb and Maggie and then sets us up perfectly for the future of the series where I believe the next book will focus on their daughter Ava. I loved the way time passed and yet they are still just a perfect couple so completely and passionately in love with each other. It's like time didn't change them one bit. They rely on each other's touch to calm themselves and they seem more in tune to each other's needs than ever before. And Caleb still made me laugh using his math equations to throw Maggie off track when she gets in his head and he's got surprises up his sleeve.

I just can't say enough how perfect this story is. And the best part is that when it ends you are treated to a sneak peek of the next book which will focus on Ava and takes place even further down the road starting from Ava's teenage years. Can you believe it? Caleb and Maggie are certainly aging gracefully! Thank you so much Shelly Crane for keeping this series going and for giving us the wonderful love and happiness that is the Significance Series.

I'd give ten stars if I could!!!!

This is one of the few series that I started when I was 12-13 that has accompanied me to the present (5-6 years later). I am very picky about the series I finish because usually half way through the series, one of the books loses me for some reason or other and I just stop. I am very happy to say that this series has kept me hanging on for years now.

I know in a few months (years?) the movie for the first book will be out. I'm both excited and scared. Sure, I'm looking forward to seeing Caleb and Gran on the big screen and see if the movie lives up to the book. BUT, I'm also afraid they'll butcher the series like they have done with SO many amazing books (Vampire Academy being one of them...-sigh-).

On to the novella:

I was very impressed. This novella left me hanging just enough to make me want to read Significance #5. I don't know what I was expecting from this, but what I got was totally worth it. I wasn't expecting a new story line to develop and be as intriguing as this was. Usually when an author takes a break from a series and starts writing again they seem to lose track of who has what voice and they all sound the same and the story falls apart. At least, that's what happened in Patricia Briggs's Alpha & Omega Series (Book 3 was horrifying).

Apparently, from what I read, 10 years has pasted. Maggie & Caleb are as happy as ever and have 2 kids (yay kids!). From the story line I can deduce that both kids will have a big part to play, though I'm still clueless to what part that will be. Shelly Crane knows how to work loose plot points to make me want to read more and more of her books (this series in particular).

Favorite Quotes:

"No, mommy. Not unless us putting Rodney in an all-girls boarding school across the sea for always stealing my dolls and making them his GI Joe prisoners counts."

"And then...war, Visionary. War."

"All is as it should be, Visionary. You are right where you should be. It's just a matter of getting it done."

*sigh* I think one thing I hate about being a book worm is writing reviews and rating the books. Here's why. When I read I already understand that whatever I am going to immerse myself in, is completely the story that the author created. Therefore shall never be judged. That is why, I try my hardest to pick books, that I'm absolutely sure I'm gonna love! With that being said, I gotta say that Consequence is gonna be hard for me to rate and review. Don't get me wrong, I love Shelly Crane's work! She has an amazing gift! It's just, I felt disconnected from the characters. I have read the significance series more times than it should be allowed, but when I read Consequence, there was a slight spark and then nothing. I get what Shelly Crane was doing, but the plot just didn't fit into a novella. I felt like the story was rushed and some parts were really confusing because of that. This made it really hard to decide between three stars and four. I finally chose four because overall, Maggie and Caleb were great! It wasn't the storyline that was bad either, but rather the context it was used in. Maybe if it were written as a completed full fledged novel instead of a short novella, it could've turned out a full five, but it wasn't. Although I am happy to say that I am really excited for the next book!! Ava sounds like a wonderful character and I am glad that significance stories have not ended!! Note: I am sorry I couldn't give this a full five stars. Maybe it's late at night and my wandering tired brain wasn't catching on, but this is how I honestly felt about Consequence. I feel my honest opinion was more of a better bet than if I'd just gone with the series and gave it a full fledged five out of favoritism of the series. In no way shall this affect future books because frankly, Shelly Crane is a kick ass author with a great imagination and creativity. Without her books on my shelf i'd be only half the bookworm I am today...

Consequence is a must read for any fan of Shelly Crane's Significance series. Topping out at only 75 pages (but really it's less because there's a preview for the fifth Significance book), this is an utterly fantastic novella and addition to the series. I forgot how much I enjoy this series, and while at first I wasn't sure where this novella was going to go, I was amazed at Ms. Crane's creativity.

This novella picks up about 10 years in the future, and everything seems to be going well at first. However, as the novella progresses, you realize just how not right things actually are. There's a threat to Maggie, Caleb, and all that they love once again, and it is a shocker. I loved seeing this glance into the future with Maggie and Caleb. It shows the reader just how strong their love for each other is, and that they will and can get through anything together. Their love is what every girl hopes for, for herself!

As I said before, also included in this novella is a short preview of Undeniably Chosen, and just by the preview, I know the book is going to be amazing. I want it now! And I'm assuming it will be in Ava's POV, instead of Maggie's and/or Caleb's. I think it will be an interesting and refreshing new addition to the series, and I can't wait to see how everything plays out.

Consequence is a fantastic addition to the Significance series, and if you're a fan, get this now! You won't be disappointed. You'll quickly be sucked back into Maggie and Caleb's world, and never want to get out of it. After reading this, I know that Ms. Crane will deliver yet another wonderfully creative and unique story that will please all fans. Happy reading :)

5++++ stars

As a huge fan of the Significance series. I was thrilled that Shelly Crane was writing this novella, and then would be writing another book about Maggie and Caleb's daughter. In Consequence, we get to see Caleb and Maggie several years down the road from where Independence left off. Maggie is still the Visionary and Caleb is still the Champion. And little Ava and Rodney, their children, are by their side. But here, we get to see Maggie in her element, and get an idea of how things have continued with the Virtuoso since those early days when Caleb and Maggie were first together, as well as how they will handle a new and unexpected vision.

Though this novella is a quick read, it still manages to give us just the right amount of suspense for what is going on in the Virtuoso community, sweetness when it comes to Caleb and Maggie and their kids, family with some quality glimpses of other characters we love (especially Gran, Kyle, and Lynne), and the continuing romance between Caleb and Maggie, their love constant and abounding. I loved getting wrapped up into this world again, if only for the brevity of these pages. But we also get a glimpse of things to come with Undeniably Chosen, the next book, and some background to the story, that wasn't part of the previously released first two chapters (which are also at the end of this novella). To say I'm excited about Undeniably Chosen would be a major understatement.

If you are a fan of this series, want to read more about Caleb and Maggie, and want to get more insight into the background of what is going on with the Virtuoso community before Undeniably Chosen, then I would recommend this novella to you. I fell in love with Maggie and Caleb all over again.

*Warning* !!
*Spoilers Included*
How, How could Shelly have left a cliff hanger so big! With Ashlyn (The previous Visionary) telling Maggie that Ava (Her daughter) was going to imprint with a Watson, and that she needed to remove the Council Members and replace them with Her, Caleb, Kyle, Lynn, Haddock, Heather, Bish, & Jen, the only Significants with the Infinity Symbol on their wrists from Mutualizing. Then when adding the first chapter from Undeniably Chosen starting from Ava's POV about her going to school her Sophomore year of High School, then jumping six years to when she is in College and that she is going to work at The Firm with Peter. Last week of school so goes to get coffee and guess who she bumps into? An boy named Seth... Who she imprints with. Then BAM! The end. Overall you should really read it before reading Undeniably Chosen it's very helpful and a great 43 pages. I'd give the whole series more stars if I could.

This is really a mini review because it is a novella in the middle of a series but I wanted to give it a shout out because it was really good. Even though it takes place quite a few years after the last book, the characters are still as strong as they were before. Caleb and Maggie's story is one of my favorite and you got to see them one last time before the story continues on through their kids. The conflict for the next was set up in this book. It really helped to close the first series and introduce us into the new one which sounds so good - the first two chapters are at the end of the book! Hmmm that's a pretty short review, oh well I don't care, I love this series! 5 stars.

As always, SC didn't disappoint! We got to see Caleb 10 years older and he is still swoony! This novella served as an extended epilogue and a prologue for the next installment or new series or spinoff i don't know. But it was great, i was transported to a world i love so much and all i wanted was to keep reading and will do once we get Ava's story!! Hopefully we don't to wait that long and we get to see everyone, that the author doesn't forget to give us glimpses of the characters we grew to love. Please read it, you won't regret it.

Teaser

I am so glad Shelley decided to continue the stories of Caleb and Maggie. I discovered the significance series earlier this year and have been obsessed since the first book. this book gives you a small glimpse into their lives after independence. I wish this book would have shown more of the changes that Maggie made and an update on Kyle, Lynn, bish, Jen, and the others would have been nice too. I hope she keeps this story going. can't wait for the next book and movie.

The Consequence novella was a short read but a great one nonetheless. Gosh, I've missed Caleb and Maggie so much! Thankfully Shelly brought them back. It's beautiful to see their relationship still so strong and loving even after all these years, and more beautiful what with Ava and Rodney around.

Fans of the Significance series should definitely get this one.

I'm truly excited for Undeniably Chosen! At the end of the novella, we get a little sneak read from the final book, where Ava and Rodney are grown up and all. And Ava meets her significant! Also, there's a war to come. EEK!

Final Rating: 3.5 / 5 Stars

The Significance Series is one of the few lengthy book series that I've continued to follow step-by-step. The reason for this is the story, characters and the amazing writing skills of author Shelly Crane.

If you've not yet read any of the previous books in this series, don't panic... I'm not going to spoil anything for you in this review - So it's safe to continue reading.

As I was saying, I really do love and adore this series as a whole. Yes, the previous book Independence wasn't crazy amazing, but it was still a great conclusion to the epic tale of Maggie and Caleb.

If you are entirely unfamiliar with this series - the reading order is as follows:

Significance (Significance, #1)

Accordance (Significance, #2)

Defiance (Significance, #3)

Reverence (Significance, #3.5) (Novella) - A free add-on for fans. It's basically the above three books all in Caleb's POV.

Independence (Significance, #4)

Consequence (Significance, #4.5)

-> Coming Soon - Undeniably Chosen (Significance, #5) - Release Date Unknown

If you've never read this series and enjoy an insta-love romance, it's definitely one for you. The Significance Series follows Maggie and Caleb. A very Young Adult read but not at all dull as far as the usual YA goes. It's fun, so sweet and will absolutely keep you on the edge of your seat. It's somewhat of a paranormal / fantasy romance, but more of the believable kind (if that makes sense). No crazy creatures. Just two characters who find each other and of course, are significants. This means, they're fated to be together no matter what. So yes, it's a HEA... but not in the least straight-forward and boring.

As far as Consequence goes, I'm rating it a 3.5. This book is a novella and it's split in two. Majority of the book is about Maggie and Caleb, years later and a little treat into their lives as adults with kids. The smaller part of this book is a sneak peak into the first part of the next book in this series, Undeniably Chosen which focuses on Maggie and Caleb's daughter and from just reading a teaser sample, it's going to be pretty epic if you ask me.

However... the issue I have with this novella is the fact that it's priced. You have to purchase to read it. I didn't see this as... how can I say... value for money. It's not that I didn't enjoy what I got... I did. But really I only really enjoyed the sneak peek we get for the next book and very, very little of my enjoyment was based on the actual novella Consequence. I found it dull, bland and it felt like an after-thought. It's not worth the cost involved to get this novella since when Undeniably Chosen gets released, I'll have to pay again to get that entire book.

If it were up to me to decide, I'd have added the couple of chapters that make up Consequence to the Undeniably Chosen book. I wouldn't have told this to the public and definitely not for 99c since it's not 99c worth of reading value. I'm not criticizing here... I'm merely pointing out that you aren't really buying much here. You getting a few pages of 'in the future' where nothing actually happens at all. Then you are getting a few pages of a completely other book that when it gets released you are going to have to pay again to actually read that... since the little you get as a teaser is intriguing enough to make you do so.

So honestly... I wouldn't buy this. I'd save my 99c for the Undeniably Chosen release and use it then. That's the only part in this novella that was actually enjoyable and exciting.

So there you go. My two cents on the matter. Of course if you are a die-hard Significance fan (As I am) you'd obviously buy this book in the hopes of getting more Maggie and Caleb... but take this from someone who likes to spend... but spend money on real value-for-reading... this is not one of those. In fact I after I'd read this, I felt as if I'd been robbed of my 99c. I didn't get anything. I didn't like what I got from Consequence. I did however like what I read about Undeniably Chosen but that's a moot point since I'd be spending $$ again when that's released and it's sure to contain exactly the same chapter contained in this book.

Those of my thoughts and because of that - I'm rating this a 3.5.

Since this one's a novella, my review is probably going to be shorter. But I wanted to give it some attention for a few reasons:

1) Though I read this when it came out, I hadn't marked it on Goodreads for some reason. Might as well write a review now as I'm marking it there, eh?
2) Undeniably Chosen (Significance book 5!) is releasing at the end of this month!
3) I. Love. This. Novella.

The Significance series is a beautiful bright spot in my life. One of my favorite series with one of the sweetest romances. I was sad to see it end--and now I'm positively THRILLED that it's not actually over. This novella sort of bridges that gap between Independence (Significance book 4) and what will be Undeniably Chosen (book 5!). So it's useful on that front.

But what's, in my opinion, more important is that this novella gives us some more Caleb and Maggie. We get to see them living life and being their cute, awesome selves. Warmed my heart big time.

Caleb and Maggie are still...Caleb and Maggie. They're not teenagers anymore, but they're still in love and they're still adorable. Their personalities are also the same, but more...grown. You know, since they're older. They are both pretty darn remarkable and make up a seriously amazing couple. (Which they always were and they always did, but it was so great to REVISIT that.)

The romance in this story is exactly what you'd expect from Caleb and Maggie. Made my heart dance and darn near rotted my teeth. But goodness knows I'll read it over and over again until Undeniable Chosen comes out regardless. (Obviously, considering this review is being written based off a re-read.)

As for the writing, Shelly Crane worked her magic on me again. I was in this for the long haul. Though the haul wasn't exactly that long this time around. But y'all get my point. As for the plot, it's as I said: reacquainting us with the Significance world and giving us little bits of what'll play into Undeniably Chosen.

Overall, this was a solid, sweet, and oh so fantastic novella. I am so excited for the Significance series to continue, and I'm glad we got this to hold us over. More Caleb and Maggie never fails to make me smile. Now I just have to wait until later this month--then I'll have book 5 and I'll get to read it and it'll be the best time I AM SO EXCITED. (In case you couldn't tell. Heh.)

Finally, more Maggie & Caleb!!! I’m pretty sure that the Significance Series was the first paranormal series that I had read. And when I started it I didn’t have any idea it was. And with the exception of a few series’ I don’t normally read paranormal. But I LOVED this one from the start. So when I found out there was going to be more about the Jacobson Clan I was so excited!! I’m here to tell you that Consequence is right in line. It was great. It was so good to see what had been going on with Maggie & Caleb and though it's not all good news they are still as strong as ever. This book still gives you the butterflies at all the right times. I LOVE that Maggie calls Caleb “Jacobson” in the book, it was just really endearing and made the characters that much more realistic. And that Caleb still quotes math problems in his head when he has a surprise for Maggie. You get to see a small amount of the other characters in the story during this book, but the majority of it centers around Caleb & Maggie. While I’m not done reading the sneak peek of Undeniably Chosen I can tell it's really going to be good, it will make its appearance later this year!
