Pucking Wrong #3

The Pucking Wrong Date

Rate this book
Walker Davis is going to ruin me… but for once, it might be worth it.

I’m a pariah, an outcast, and my life is not my own. I went to that hockey game hoping for an escape and found one in him. They call Walker Davis “Disney” for a reason, because the superstar goalie is the “Prince Charming” of every girl’s dreams. He told me he understood I just wanted one perfect night… But now he’s everywhere I go. He seems to know everything about me. He keeps saying I’m the one. And he’s trying to change my last name. He’s crazy… A wrong date can never be a happily ever after though… right?

*Note: Walker Davis is a morally grey antihero who is obsessed with his girl and will do anything to keep her. This is a darker hockey romance.

"You're not a burden, you're my everything. Everything,” I repeated fiercely. “I breathe for you. I covet you. I spend every second of every day thinking about you. A burden?” I scoffed. “The way I love you goes beyond any love story you’ve ever heard. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to keep you. I burn for you, in the way that only someone can when you’re holding a piece of their soul.”"

My sense of reason flew out the window here red flags and all because Walker “Disney” was a different level of unhinged for me and the most obsessed romantic I’d say but you know what? Actually no, let’s not talk about it but this? 📌 irl? Absolutely not 😭 this had its cheesy moments but somehow I still enjoyed it since it was difficult not to as Walker was endearing and protective of Olivia when he wasn’t going all psycho obsessed. When I tell you this man would do anything and everything to keep her—I mean that. if he wasn’t making me laugh he was making me side eye what he was doing but it was manifestation right? Right.

Olivia went through so much in her life and I’m oddly glad she had Walker despite it all. As for the circle of trust, all these men are so unhinged so they support each other and their antics lmao I couldn’t help but laugh at the text threads. This is definitely one of those books you shouldn’t take serious. a brain empty no thoughts type of read. Also, if anyone has read skin of a sinner walker kinda reminded me of Roman so do with that what you will

Has some dark themes so definitely check those out first

When a heckler catches goalie, Walker Davis’, attention during a game, he’s immediately transfixed by her beauty. With a complicated life, Olivia Jones, can only offer a one-night-stand. She’ll soon learn that Disney will stop at nothing to be her knight in shining armor.

Disney epitomizes two descriptors I would have likely never put together before this series: unhinged and romantic. His behavior coalesces into the most unexpectedly perfect COCKtail of next-level filthy, sweet, and pșyçhotìç.

I think it’s safe to say we’ve all been anxiously awaiting Disney’s story and he. did. not. disappoint.

4.5 Circle-of-Trust, Disney, and Beads Stars

This is my FAVORITE book from this series! If you thought Lincoln and Ari were un hinged, wait until you meet Walker, aka Disney 😅.

SIDE NOTE: the audiobook is one of the most amazing ones I’ve ever heard 👏🏻. Not only because it’s duet narration (👀 my bread and butter), but also because Alexis Paige can F ING SINGGGG!!! I was STAR STRUCK 🤩. She’s AH MAZE ING 😮‍💨. And, of course, Troy Duran had me 🔥🫠. WORTH every penny/credit 👏🏻.

Olivia (9, 19 in flashbacks, 21 in the present) has led a harsh life. Her mom basically forced her to begin working as a singer when she was a child. She’s also micromanaged her life to the point where she ends up gaining her conservatorship along with her nasty AF manager Marco when she turns 19 after a night of debauchery. They make her out to be crazy and “loose”, all because Olivia’s tired of the way they treat her, so she refuses to sing 🤷🏻‍♀️. That’s her mom and manager’s cue to make her out to be unfit to take care of herself (sound familiar ? ☹️).

For two years, she remains a hermit, staying out of the spotlight, hoping people forget about her and what happened. She’s at her cousin Harley’s hockey game when she decides to talk ish to one of the players her cousin’s playing against, Walker 😅, and then she’ll learn just how OTT this man can be 👀.

Walker’s (20s?) not EXACTLY a man h like so many of his teammates. So when he’s being heckled by a gorgeous woman at his game, he can’t help but look. And then it all clicks for him, because when the woman tells him he f Ing sucks, he falls for her… and it’s…

MINEMINEMINE time 😅

The woman just doesn’t know it yet 🤣

He ensures she doesn’t leave so that he can take the opportunity to spend time with her 👀
And spend time with her he does 😉.
She agrees to give him one night, a ONS; no numbers are exchanged (in fact, she gives him a different name AND she's wearing a wig lol).
When he wakes up without her, he vows to find her

Because they’re meant to be 🤷🏻‍♀️

And then he finds out her cousin’s getting married 👀
Guess he’s gonna have to find a way to be a groomsman and be Olivia’s partner 😉

Let the bull dozing begin 💅

What I liked/loved: POSSIBLE SPOILERS
—the 🔥. Well. Duh 🤣. There’s so much tension and so much 🔥. Between 18%-24%, so much happens, and it’s all the 🔥 you can think of. Walker is ALL about being with his woman every chance he gets, so there’s a lot of 🔥

—he loves eating cereal 🥵. Walker has a huuuuuge , so he has to make sure she’s ready. She needs to be READY READY 😅

—praying for Olivia’s V 🤣. She needs to sit on ice packs all day, the poor girl 🤡

—how protective he is 🥹🫶. Walker will fight Olivia’s battles, and he’ll do it with a smile 😭. I just love this man 🥰. He wants to make sure she’s okay, and he’ll do anything in his power to ensure that 🫶

—how swoony Walker is 🥹🥰. The way he goes out of his way go make sure she’s safe made my heart gooey. When she has a panic attack, he’s there to hold her 🫶. When she needs comforting, he’s there 🥹❤️ always 🫶

—the amount of times I 🤣. From the streaking ritual, to the text messages with the guys, to the times they hang out or play games, to the circle of trust, and even just the ellipses battles (…), I was CACKLING 💀

—the grandma airline 💀💀💀💀. Bahahahaha yessssss 👏🏻

—Walker’s audacity 😈. He gives no Fs 🤣. Get traded to Dallas? Sure. Blackmailing Olivia’s cousin? Even better 💅🤣. Making “deals” with her conservators? Okay 🤷🏻‍♀️

—banter banter banter 👏🏻

—how OTT jp he is 😅

—MINEMINEMINE 😈

—a tattoo? Psssshhh… try beads 💁🏻‍♀️. Never say he doesn’t go above and beyond what Ari and Lincoln did

—stalking and spying 😅. It comes with the territory 💁🏻‍♀️. He gots to make sure she’s safe 🤷🏻‍♀️

—Lincoln and Ari 🤣. These two crack me up. Not them sneaking in phones so they can watch their wives at home 🤣. I mean. This is the type of energy we need 😈

—the bromance 😅. I love how close they get 👏🏻

—stripping for Olivia 😅. Not Walker learning a new craft and send the paid professionals away just so that she doesn’t touch another man 😅

—handcuffs anyone 😅. Just to make sure there’s no third act breakup 🤡

—BC tampering 😅. Look. He’s in for the looooong haul 😅😈. Operation become a Disney Dad 🤡

—the comeuppance 😮‍💨👏🏻💅

What I didn’t like: SPOILERS
—the cheating blackmail 🤬. This is what prevented me from giving it 5 stars, which SUCKS! Harley (Olivia’s cousin) cheated on Maddie (his fiancé/wife) a year before and this is what Walker uses to blackmail Harley to make him a groomsman (Walker has footage of Harley and Maddie’s best friend making out, which leads do him being blackout drunk and sleeping with the ow). They get married AND, the day of the wedding, she finds out she’s pregnant. Now. Normally, this is a GOOD thing. But, Harley cheated on Maddie with Maddie’s best friend, who’s also the MOH 🤬, and NO. ONE. SAID. ANYTHING!!! For a year, Maddie’s been happily planning her wedding and looking forward to marrying the love of her life, but she doesn’t know that Harley cheated on her with her best friend/MOH. Many will say he was SA because he was blackout drunk, but it’s the lying that gets to me (and the logistics of how he was able to perform if he was THAT bad). This is NEVER resolved either 😐

—I’m actually pretty surprised Walker doesn’t reveal this info to Olivia considering he’s such an amazing man 😒

Overall, I looooooved it 🥰

I finally lost my sense of rationality and moral compass when dealing with the men in this series. 😂 They are their own brand of crazy, and I give up trying to make sense of the things they did in their own books. 🤣

I was looking forward to reading it, as I know the type of men this series has. But I don't know, it fell flat for me, it wasn't bad but not amazing either, just so-so, imo.

Anyway, Walker seems more like an obsessive pyschopath than a sick love fool. I mean, granted, he did a lot of questionable things, but most of them come off as plain crazy and not swoony in the least. Or, maybe I'm just not in the mood to read OTT ways how an obsessed man will go the extra mile to get his girl.

But some of the things that I love about these guys are their possessiveness and faithfulness. I know they will never look at anyone else, and that's the bare minimum in reality, but I still loved how much they showed their fidelity to their women. In that aspect, I can very much swoon over them. Fidelity is quite rare to be believable in sports romance, but in this series, I never doubted that these men would exhibit that dedication.

Anyway, I don't know what to say about this story. It was okay, I guess, and heavy on the breeding kink. I can only tolerate bc tampering in fiction, and I had fun reading it, but only because Olivia was onboard with the idea of pregnancy. But I don't think I would love it if she wasn't and just decided to accept a reality forced on her because she had no choice.

Also, even after finishing the story, I'm still pissed that Walker agreed to cover up Harley's cheating, and he and Maddie still got married. I want to puke so bad that Maddie was clueless about it and was living a blissful married life without knowing that the love of her life cheated on her with her best friend. Is this going to be addressed at all??? Like in the upcoming books, maybe??? I can't stand it, and it makes me furious but also sad for her.

Well, I guess there are a lot of annoying and ridiculously funny things I could say about the story, but I don't have the energy to do so. But if readers want to read about an OTT possessive, jealous, obsessed guy, they should give this a shot, or more likely, the whole series. These men will never fail to give you headaches and smiles with all the questionable things and lengths they would go for just to get their women.

Dark romance between a golden retriever hockey player & an overworked pop star 🎤🎶🥅 ohh also the guy has a massive dick & a craving for BREEDING KINK *insert shock face*

“sometimes when you found the right girl… to get her… you had to do all the wrong things.”

As soon as Walker Davis aka Mr. Big-Dick, sees Olivia in the stands during one of his games he falls hard. AND I MEAN OBSESSED. This man will do absolutely anything to keep her and this includes:
🩶 permanently bedazzling his dick with T. Swift inspired beads 🍆✨ *the way I screamed*
🩶 strip for bet & friends at a bachelorette party
🩶 TAMPER WITH BC to get her pregnant (successfully!!)

“I want to mark you all over. Every inch of you. So there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that you’re mine,”

Dark spice was just perfect 🌶️ mix of sweet praise, mandhandling & filthy talk! And. The. Breeding. Kink. Definitely the best books I’ve read on this kink because I felt the mmc truly fit the trope. Golden retriever boyfriend so obsessed with his girl that he wants to tie her to himself FOREVER! Walker’s unhinged behavior (even the bc tampering) was deliciously forbidden & I honestly loved it 🫠 it’s all fantasy, RIGHT?!!!!

“I want you to say you can't wait to have my baby. That you’ll let me fill you up like this again and again… breed you so you can never leave me."

BANTER. BANTER. BANTER. I lived, laughed, loved the chats between the hockey men. I loved how they encouraged & cheered in his possessive behavior. I mean…they literally decorated his dick for Olivia 📿🧿

I feel bad for not mentioning much about Olivia but honestly I just wanted to leave her alone. LEAVE BRITTNEY ALONE!!! This actually applies because Olivia is under a conservatorship and abused by her caretakers ⚠️ read the trigger warnings!!!

“How did you explain to someone that didn’t know you, that you breathed for them?”

Similar to S. Massery’s hockey series but slightly sweeter. If you loved this one you’re also going to enjoy Secret Obsession by S. Massery.

I loved Olivia and Walker’s story…but I’m stuck on Harley. The only reason I can think of for Maddie not finding out about Harley cheated on her is because he’s getting a book…..I TRULY hope that’s not the case because he is NOT redeemable after what he did. Although if Maddie got a book with an H other than Harley, that’d be great because I love a single mom book. Maybe she’ll be the h of Camden’s(?is that his name) book. He’s a manwhore of course tho😒

too ridiculous to be taken seriously😅🤣🤡

also, the simping done by the current hero about the hero from book 1 is just ott. we get it, dear author, you liked that guy, but please stop!

plus, the way she turned the hero from book 2, a loveable Golden retriever into a pathetic class clown is too much 🤷🏼‍♀️

and on a side note, nothing against Taylor Swift (her music is great, don't @ me 👉👈), but just because a lot of book girlies are simultaneously swifties DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOU SOCIOPATHIC HEROES HAVE DANCE PARTIES TO HER MUSIC. No, it doesn't make your books relatable, it only makes you cringy😬💀

Crazy but fun!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜💖
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😊😄🥹🙁🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The heroine: Olivia Darling (a.k.a. Olivia Jones) - she is a singer who supposedly went crazy a few years ago. She grew up as a bit of a singing prodigy, but she had a strict mother who put a ton of pressure on her to do well at all times. Her mother was the stage mother from hell, cruel and abusive. Her mother hooked Olivia up with a creepy agent when she was nine years old and signed a contract that basically locked Olivia in for years on end. By the time she was nineteen she had been on tour for ten years, running herself to death and taking drugs that her mother and agent fed her.

The Story: Olivia was manipulated and drugged by her mother and her agent. She was abused, pushed and prodded to be their meal ticket and even by the time she was nineteen, her life wasn’t her own. They drugged her, put her on a psych hold and planned to put her under conservatorship. They took pictures of her while drugged to make it look like she was addicted to drugs and crazy.

The Hero: Walker “Disney” Davis - he is the star goalie of a professional hockey team. He was known for being the prince charming for all the girls after his friend Ari gave reporters that little tidbit. His brother Cole is a rockstar who shows up at his house every now and then. Walker was playing in L.A. and his next game was important for him because he was playing for a chance at a contract with the Dallas Knights. There was talk of a Davis family curse where every male in the family had met eyes with a woman and fell instantly in love.

I read the first book in this series and really liked it as well. Though in both books, the Hero does something that is pretty much beyond redemption, but they are so lovable that you (the reader) just can’t help but forgive them. The character development is so good in this book and both the main characters and supporting characters are fantastic. When Walker, Ari and Lincoln get together whether via phone, text or in person, it is comical, and you can’t help but love all of them. Probably the best part of this book.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Alexis Paige. Troy always does a terrific job. He has a very deep voice, and he is great at showing emotion through his voice and doing all sorts of different voices for different characters. Alexis Paige sounds youthful, and I listened to her narrate the first book in this series and didn’t like her all that much in the beginning because you could tell she was reading, but she did much better in this book, so I am not sure if I just got used to her or what, but I am liking her more.

WALKER DISNEY I LOVE YOU!!!! HANDS DOWN I love Walker. idk which guy I love more!! Let's start off with Olivia, girl.. my heart broke for her she was forced to be a star. What her mother did, what that manger did broke my heart. All those people who ruined her life I wanna kick there ass so bad. She didn't deserve that. I could go on and on.

Now we are present day, and Walker meets Olivia when she's flipping him off on the ice he's sprung lol he is smitten. I loved that for him, and he was already in They spent the night together, and he did some well, not nice things like poke some holes in the condom lol. Oh, he made Ari and Linc proud in that moment. And when his girl left, he made it his mission to find her, and he did!!

Did he care what her past was? No, he knew when he talked to her, he'll get the truth, and he'll be her safe space. And I laugh at how he blackmailed his way into her life. He played those ppls so good!! And the relationship between them was so amazing. He made sure she was safe and sound listened to and made sure her birth control was "taken." hahah what a cute little lying disney dork. We do have the drama and the uncover of walkers lies, but it is perfect.

Also, hands down. The bromance between them and a new member was great. I wish I had a mini novella of just their texts 🤣🤣🤣

🥰 Buddy Read with Paige Turner🥰

What started as a promising four star read plummeted to two by the third act. But given some thought, it’s on me. I made two mistakes. 1) Skipped the first two books in the series. 2) Forgot Maya Angelou’s sage advice:

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”

Couching numerous references about crazy and psychopathic behavior in humor, I was laughing… until it was no longer funny. From what I gather, crazy is Walker’s default as it is for his friends, the MCs from the first two books.

Here’s a snippet between Walker and Olivia:
”Good thing you love crazy.”

She nodded, “For some reason, I do.”

By page 357, I did not.

For better written and more insightful reviews, I recommend Paige Turner’s, Izzah’s, and Gloria’s. 😍

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: ONS, heroine in peril
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

This was SUCH a great read. There was a super raw and emotional back story for the heroine which was in heavy contrast with the lighter, instalove storyline with an over the top hero that will absolutely anything to save her and keep her. And it strangely worked really well together. My heart just bled for her and what she was going through, but I still managed to have plenty of laugh out loud moments provided by the hero with all his antics. The "circle of trust" bro bounding had me in stitches and we were able to see all our favorite heroes from the past books while catching a peak of what/who is coming up next. Absolutely loved it! Definitely my favorite of the series♥️

this is one of the worst things i’ve ever read. tw: this is a hate review.

Once, I promised myself that I would never read something that came from a Tik Tok recommendation, I clearly should have obeyed that promise.

Let's start with the narration of the games played and narrated by the Hero. The over explanation of terms, moments of the game and plays were horrible and unnatural. When someone, who does that everyday, is playing hockey, or any other sport, they don't narrate plays and explain power play, power kill, penalty box, icing, etc etc etc. They just play the fucking game. When using a narrator who is also a main character, and in this situation someone who is doing the action, THEY DON'T FUCKING EXPLAIN EACH STEP. IT'S NOT NATURAL. Maybe Tik Tok got people so dumb that authors feel that they need to explain everything since readers don't have the capacity to look something up or TO INTERPRET. I don't know, but unfortunately this book just made me realize that Tik Tok made both readers and authors stupid.

Second: The Hero calls the Heroine by her real name when he thought that her name was another one. So, the author didn't even revised and edited this simple thing, why I expected that she would know the natural limitations of thoughts of a character narrator? If being a writer is your job, do it right, please. It's not that hard.

Last but not least, the worst thing of this book: all Taylor Swift's mentions. I don't like TS I don't sympathize with a single hair of her head, but even if I did, the Swift name being thrown here and there were RIDICULOUS.
A straight stalker hockey player is a Swiftie?? OH PLEASE!!! This is a fan bait and people are really buying this kind of crap!

Maybe the politics over there in America are right to ban Tik Tok, but they should do it for the right reason: it's making people dumber. Only North Americans could write and read this kind of crap and applaud in social media.

Ps: I read this as a standalone, I have not read the previous books and I will never read another thing by this author again.

REVIEW:

Early morning, she wakes up
Knock, knock, knock on the door
It's time for make-up, perfect smile
It's you they're all waiting for
They go
Isn't she lovely, this Hollywood girl?
And they say
She's so lucky, she's a star
But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night?
Lost in an image, in a dream
But there's no one there to wake her up
And the world is spinning, and she keeps on winning
But tell me what happens when it stops?
They go
Isn't she lovely, this Hollywood girl?
And they say
She's so lucky, she's a star
But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night? (Oh)
Whoa
Best actress, and the winner is Lucky (whoa)
(I, I, yeah, oh) Whoa
I'm Roger Johnson for Pop News
Standing outside the arena waiting for Lucky
Oh my God here she comes
Isn't she lovely, this Hollywood girl?
She is so lucky, but why does she cry?
If there is nothing missing in her life
Why do tears come at night?
And they say she's so lucky (so lucky), she's a star
But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking

Official Review:

Lol.

Anyway, yes, the 2 previous books were one stars for me, (you can check out why.)

But this one got 3 stars from me!

Why?

Simple.

A few things.

The writing was just miles and miles better in this one.

Maybe CR Jane hired better editors or paid for a few writing classes. Cause her writing improved so much from the first 2 books before where the writing was leaning towards juvenile, atrocious, overused words etc.

This book had a better story, better pacing, better character development, good tension, very good chemistry between fmc and mmc. And Walker is very likable and exactly what we want in an obsessed mmc!!

The smut wasn't bad either. Yes, it could have been better, but since the chemistry was really good between our MCs, it sort of made up for some of the badly executed sections of the smut. But i still could have used better smut, more passionate smut. But eh, everything can't be perfect, I guess.

Another reason for my higher rating is because of the scene where a very pretty hammer meets a really small appendage of someone I hate and wanted to see suffer...

That was satisfactory and brought a smile to my face.

Sweet revenge like that makes me tingle...

Why not 5 stars?

Well, reason one, I picked up some pro-life undertones in CR Jane's writing.

Like... when/if you listen to this book, you'll know what I mean.

I am pro-choice, as we all should be. I have no tolerance for views and stances that hurt women, so I am very pro-women's reproductive rights, so I was able to pick up weird undertones of pro-life propaganda in this book a mile away.

And I can't in good conscience give 5 stars to a book with pro-life language/propaganda. Yes, it is fiction, but let's be honest, writers always have a message to relay to the audience under all the layers of story.

As a writer myself, I know personal beliefs can and do often sneak inside a work of fiction.

And one of the messages here was a pro-life sish... ew.

And second reason, is because of Olivia. Our fmc.

She was just too passive for me.

Yes, you're being controlled amd abused by these people, but at least TRY SOMETHING, ANYTHING to escape your predicament!

Even if it had failed, the story would have been better for it and Olivia would have been more likable.

Everything just happens to Olivia and that's it.

In writing school, they teach us that passive main characters do not make for riveting storytelling.

And speaking of Olivia, I didn't like how unreactive she was.

She did not react in the way that I, as a reader had been waiting on the edge of my seat for.

I was waiting for shit to hit the fan when she found out all Walker has done... but then when the other shoe finally dropped, the author stopped cooking...

For example, the scene with the birth control discovery at the hospital felt anticlimactic there, as well as the scene after she found out Walker and her abusers "made a deal."

Fmc just brushed things under the rug way too fast for my liking, which brought the story to a measly standstill.

But yeah, good improvement from the 1st 2 books!

I don't give 3 stars often, so she must have done a few things right with this one...

‼️POTENTIAL SPOILERS‼️
This was quite an enjoyable read. Walker's def my fave out of all the men in this series. If there's one thing I love about this series then it's the fidelity. All of these men being obsessed (and taking it to next level) is EVERYTHING. I really felt bad for Olivia after reading her past and I'm so glad Jolette and Marco got what they deserved. Walker was a MAJOR red flag but apparently I'm colorblind when it comes to these men so there's that🤣 The breeding kink, slight lactation kink and BC tampering had my ovaries leaving my bodyyyyy (what's wrong with me srsly???) Ngl tho, Harley ruined the vibes of this book. I just wish that Maddie woulda thrown that man in the trash and I refuse to believe that they're getting a book - especially after what he did. But apparently, they are. And from what I've heard, the author said that Harley was SA'd. The writing and his reaction to Walker showing him the video says otherwise. If he was SA'd, why didn't he tell Maddie the moment he realised it and why did he choose to hide it instead? The writing really made it seem like he couldn't handle being rejected by Maddie (after asking her to marry him) and instead got wasted and slept with her backstabbing "best friend." Make it make sense yoooooo. But anyways, I'll be skipping their book so whatever. I guess I'll just imagine Maddie ending up with another guy who ACTUALLY deserves her. Maybe a single mom romance would be cute🙂 With that being said, I'm really excited for Camden's book and hoping to god that Logan gets one as well!!!

Safety Squad:
- no OW/OM drama
- no cheating
- J/P hero
- condoms used the first time (MMC pokes holes in it to get the FMC preggo)/no condoms used after that
- mentions of child abuse, rape, sexual assault, exploitation, death of a parent, negligent parent, drug abuse, suicidal thoughts, etc
- BC tampering
- breeding kink
- golden boy hockey player x broken singer romance
- boy obsessed + stalking
- dark romance (with LOTS of lol moments)
- bromance moments (lincoln + ari + walker = 🥰)

I want to start this on a positive note; the first book in this series is one of my favorite dark-themed romances ever. The audio-book is duet and amazing as well! Finally, the banter between Ari, Lincoln, and Walker had me laughing! Now that I've said that ...

This series started taking a dive with me in book 2, and this book (book 3) has convinced me not to continue with it. I was so disappointed in this book, and very little worked for me in it.

I did like the obsessive stalker elements, because I'm koo-koo for the coco puffs; however, this book took it too far, IMO. Trapping someone with a pregnancy is never going to be something I can be on board with, but I could have tolerated it had it involved one of the following: 1) Some type of discussion on "BTW do you want kids someday", 2) Are you clean?! .... Literally neither of those things happen before Walker traps her into a pregnancy by messing with her birth control (this was after he poked holes in the condom they used during their first time). It seriously rubbed me in a ick way - because this is such a non-romantic trap. Some women don't want to be moms ... so the level of selfishness this took was unreal. In stalker books - the "key" that makes the car run for me is that the stalker wants to improve the love interests life (and keep her obviously)... and being that Walker didn't know much about Olivia before he gets all "I need to trap her so she can't leave me" - I couldn't connect his behaviors with caring about her.
The only really jarring thing was the pacing, things were introduced (like substance abuse) that never get resolved. She still has a pill addiction to my memory when she gets pregnant, and then it's never really discussed again. In all fairness, I knew I should have DNF'd this book and remembering thinking on page 29 that I should; however, I loved book 1 so so much that I was praying for redemption ... but it didn't come. I for sure see many people enjoying this, but due to me being triggred by the forced pregnancy, I couldn't be one of them.

I can't recommend this one sadly, and like I said, after book 2 and now this I'm going to discontinue following the series. Happy reading!

4.25 stars!

The Pucking Wrong Date was cray. Walker, you are a beautiful and wonderful man and I adore you.

This man will quite literally do anything for his girl. His devotion and possessiveness was a thing of beauty. He knew exactly what his broken Olivia needed before she even knew she needed it.

“I’ll prove it to you eventually,” he said quietly in response.

“Prove what?”

“That you have a safe place now, Olivia. That I am that safe place.”

Did everyone that read that quote suddenly melt into a puddle of goo? Because I certainly did.

Olivia was a disaster but I liked her so much in spite of it. She was a fighter even when she didn’t want to be and while Walker may have helped her off the floor she chose to grab his hand. Really solid OTT read with plenty of the smut I love.

The new member of the circle of trust gets his HEA

How can this author write heroes I enjoy so much while also writing heroines I can't stand?

Actually, not heroines I can't stand, it's the heroines' circumstances I can't stand.

🥅 Walker, almost not OTT enough

I really liked Walker, he was less OTT than Lincoln and less adora-funny than Ari, but he had his own thing going. He was shy and even a bit awestruck with the heroine (before even knowing the heroine is a music idol), but with the encouragement from the "circle of trust", he goes for what he wants.

My problem was he didn't go at it aggressively enough? I mean, compare to the other books. The fact that the heroine gets beaten after having met him was a major turn off.

The promise of breeding kink kept me going and I'm glad. He might've been more subtle in his 'getting of the girl', but he wasn't apologetic about it. (This may sound insane, but I don't pick this series for its green flags)

Another big issue for me was the blackmail. Not the blackmail, sorry. I meant the content of the blackmail. I think the author should've found something different, that subject is too radioactive for romance.

Other than that, the way I wished more heroes knew how to properly use a hammer made me realized I may be a bit unhinged myself.

🥅 About the aforementioned heroines' circumstances

This author wants to write twisted knights in shinning armor, sunshine heroes that rescue helpless, gloomy heroines. The problem is women are tired of weak, damsels in distress.

So what does the author do?

She creates the most suffocating, inescapable, terrifying circumstances for the heroines. Circumstances that would make it impossible for a person of any gender to get away from alone or easily.

🏒 You can't really say Monroe (The Pucking Wrong Number) is weak. In fact, she does everything in her power to survive.

🏒 You can't really say Blake (The Pucking Wrong Guy) is weak. Persistent mental health issues are like an anchor.

🏒 And finally, you can't say Olivia is weak. She has been exploited and manipulated since she was 9 years old.

However, all the heroines still leave me feeling down. Their helplessness is too real and too overpowering. I always find myself skimming their chapters they're so depressing. They take away from the enjoyment.

🥅 Final thoughts

I'm a bit disappointed in this book since I was saving this one because of the breeding kink, yet it was the least steamy of all the other books in the series.

I'm still going to read the next one, though, because I have yet to find another series or author that can deliver such cheerily dark romance with sunshine OTT possessive heroes. Their ability to love wholeheartedly, yet being able to stalk, handcuff, track, blackmail and other crazy shit with a big unrepentant smile on their faces is addicting.

With any luck I'll be able to rate the next one higher than 3 ★

DNF 37% chapter [11/35]
//
yeah, listen the plot I might thought could be interesting but I cannot keep reading this book.
I can't stand the writing of it, and the characters are so unbearable and childish, a bunch of 17-yo on steroids. His inner monologues are insufferable and I don't even have other words about his dick named "Hercules"

I can spend my time reading better.

And if you want proof there we go with some quotes:

Ari: Blake just told me my dick looks bigger than normal. So we’re definitely going to win tonight.
-- Pig
Our eyes locked.
Mine.
I felt lightheaded as I stared at her, the world rearranging around me until all I could see…all I could feel…was her. I had no idea who she was. But for a heartbeat, I forgot about the game, the score…the pressure. I was entranced. Nothing else mattered.
-- WTF?? did he imprinted on her or smth?? they played a jacob black card here and badly even
“Very nice, Disney,” Ari screamed. “Good fucking boy.”
Praise kink unlocked. I’d have to examine that later.
-- you can't see me but i'm side eye-ing the hell out of myself, I can't comprehend for the life of me this "boy-crush" as was called of Walker for Lincoln (and Ari, I guess?)
Linc skated up to a camera and blew it a kiss. And Ari snatched it up like it belonged to him.
I scooped it up behind him, pretending it was for me.
--this is reaching strange lavels even for me
They had their phones out, and as I passed behind them to head to the empty seat at the table, I saw they were both watching video footage of Blake and Monroe hanging out in Lincoln’s living room.
“Are you guys stalking your wives right now?”
-- here when I lost it, Linc even complained Blake was sitting too close to Monroe while watching a movie on the couch, like, sir????
But sure, you can go out and drink yourself stupid with your little friends and whatever the fuck you want while your wives have to stay in or at max, go take a breath of fresh air but only if you are with them.
That the most fucking red flag in this planet and not even in a good way talking about dark romances.
I get what the author is trying to do here, but, in my humble opinion is failing miserably, that could have been incredibly better the representation of "boy obsessed/stalker/what the fuck dark trope you wanted to put in there" i don't care.

I'm sorry for my rant if you liked this book, you do you I do me 🤷‍♀️

I said to my friend “ oh is this accidental pregnancy?” And her response was “for her yeah but not for him” lmao and that should tell you right there the tone of this book🤣

The series is filled with unhinged men that are not afraid to cross the line, at this point I don’t even think they fucking see a line because they all egg each other on to be fucking insane and we’re here for it . The circle of trust is just so supportive.

I still think book one is my favorite. This one was fun, but it definitely had some corny moments, but I’m someone who just leans into it and I still had the best time.

Hot hockey players who are so protective and possessive of their women, a girl can dream.

This is just one of those series I will recommend every time someone is looking for something fun, because they are truly the best time. Dark (but not too dark) funny, spicy and binge worthy.

I have the mention that I did this on audio and even though the audiobooks are duet and so fucking good the singing in them made me wanna crawl in a hole and die. I really hate when the audio narrator actually sings. Like I think we would all be OK without that😭😭😭

What the fuck did I just read…

He’s puncturing holes in the condom to baby trap her… they literally met an hour ago.

The insta love and the red flags are not a nice combo. There’s no reason to be acting like this over a stranger.

Honestly bad vibes, you can’t tell me this guy wouldn’t force himself on her if she said no.

For someone to be this obsessed I would’ve at least expected them to know each other’s last names.

“There was one way I could keep her. Trap her so to speak… I was having an out of body experience. That was the only way to describe what was happening as I reached back into the drawer, and pulled out the sewing kit I kept in there. I pulled out one of the needles, watching as it glinted ominously under the unforgiving light. No turning back now. Carefully, almost mechanically, I began to puncture the condom package with the needle. One hole, then two, and soon a pattern of tiny punctures formed. The voice of reason in my head screamed at me to stop, but the obsession, the overwhelming need to possess her, drowned out those voices.”

it was like i was 13 again reading fanfics there's things in this book you can only find in a fanfic write by a teenager, the over the top bromance, H would totally fuck that other player if given the chance, the author inserting her favorite singer everywhere, it was unsettling the amount of times this man started dancing to "tay tay" out of nowhere, is this maybe a Taylor swift fanfic turned into a book? 🤔 and don't even get me started on how this author made h a rape victim without any care for her or for the topic it was just there for the angst it pissed me of so much

First time I read/listened, I rated it a 2 - I've upped that to a 3. Warning - this contains all the same OTT stalking that the first two books have, with the bonus of a forced pregnancy.

And there she was, standing on the other side of the glass. Our eyes locked. ...... I had no idea who she was. But for a heartbeat, I forgot about the game, the score…the pressure. I was entranced. Nothing else mattered.

Walker "Disney" Davis (hockey god) goes completely bonkers when he locks eyes with a heckler at a hockey game. He immediately knows she's the one based on his family's history of falling in love at first sight. He goes about things the same way Ari and Lincoln did when they found their true loves. His first goal to keeping her forever is to get her pregnant.

Walker Davis was going to ruin me. And maybe it was going to be worth it for once.

Olivia Darling Jones (music superstar) has lived the past few years in isolation after being manipulated and abused by her evil mother and rapist manager since the age of 8 (think Britney Spears). She's allowed to go out this one time to see her cousin play hockey when she's swept off her feet by the sexy, charismatic Walker.

"I feel like I’ve been searching for something real, darlin’, for a long fucking time. And I don’t know how to explain it…but when I met you that night. I found my real."

OTT Psycho stalker stuff, sexy sex, circle of trust, safety check, altered friendship bracelets, wedding bells, grandma airlines, more sex, hammer time, there is no break-up, HEA.

SEX: Raunchy deliciousness. First time at 24%, which is always a win in my book! He's a big dirty talker like Ari is.

INSTA: The first time I read this, I didn't believe Walker really felt insta for Olivia. Second time, I still feel more like it was insta-lust. All of the info he got about her was through his P.I., not by actually talking to her. We never really had any getting to know you pillow talk.

AUDIO: I've read and listened. I recommend both. I liked to read because I can do Kindle Highlights and then listen along so I can hear Troy Duran.

TRIGGERS: As I mentioned earlier, Olivia was raped by her manager, it's all off page. Then, the revenge against the manager is BRUTAL and kind of disturbing - though it's totally deserved. If only all abuse victims could get this sort of revenge... Anyway - Be warned - it's not for the faint of heart.

ISSUES

There were a few things that really bothered me the first time, and even though they irritated me the second time, I still found the book more enjoyable. I can't explain why.

COMEDY: The guys still did a lot of hilarious shit, but a lot of it was recycled. The circle of trust can only be talked about so many times before it gets a little boring.

BACKGROUNDS: We never find out the details on Walker's mom and dad. Seems like it's important. Walker's brothers are in this book, and I think maybe they get their own books in another of CRJ's series and possibly the details of their parents are discussed in those.

STALKER: So, we know that Walker is going to be a crazy stalker and do crazy, invasive things to keep Olivia, but it bothered me in this one because she had already been controlled her entire life. She wasn't able to make her own decisions and he didn't let her make any this time either. That said - she acknowledges that she would have chosen all the same things that happened if given the choice. Even though I love a good forced pregnancy trope, I felt it violated something in this one specifically because of her past.

SECRETS: He finds a way to get Olivia away from her mom and manager, but instead of telling her, he keeps it a secret. When she finds out she says, "why didn't you just tell me", and that's an excellent question. It was something to benefit her and she was always stressing about it. I can understand why he keeps secret cameras and tracking devices a secret, but this information seemed stupid to keep from her.

UNRESOLVED: There's this entire situation involving Harley, Maddie, and Maddie's friend Carlie, and we never get the resolution. Like it's a major thing and it's all left up in the air. When you read it, you'll understand why it's a big deal. I don't think CRJ is going to put out a story on them so that's why it leaves a big blah for readers. Be sure you want this info....

In the end, the second time around was much better.

SIDE PIECES :
Cole Davis: Walker's brother, Frontman for the band Anarchy.
Parker Davis: Walker's brother. (The Wrong Quarterback).

Harley: Olivia's cousin.
Maddie: Harley's fiancé.
Carlie: Maddie's friend.

Logan York: New team player. "Rookie". (The Pucking Wrong Rookie).
Camden James: New team player, "Hero". (The Pucking Wrong Man).

The Sound of Us
Bandmembers: Jesse Carroway, Tanner Crosby, and Jensen Reid
Ariana Kent: Girlfriend to the band members.

If you love your book boyfriend to have all the red flags, this one is for you! I loved Lincoln and Ari so much I didn’t think Disney could top them, but I was wrong. Walker was next level crazy about his girl and I’m here for it!! The chemistry between Walker and Olivia was insanely hot. The “circle of trust” chat is one of my favorite parts of these book. I’m already excited about the next book!
