Hi:

I am the author of many different types of books. Some are technical and others are fanciful. Illustrated books are my favorite. I believe that you can capture a reader’s attention with a good story but amazing artwork will reel them in and keep them riveted.

Check out my newest series titled Magical Elements of the Periodic Table. Books are presented by unicorns, dragons and wizards. It's Techno-Magical.

Boo's Shoes is my last rabbit and fox book and it is a companion to Cleo Can Tie A Bow! Make sure to put it on your bookshelf so that you'll have it handy when you know someone who wants to learn to tie their shoelaces or any other kind of bow.

Journey To Osm - The Blue Unicorn's Tale is my first full-length novel. Please look for it on these Goodreads Listopia lists and give it a vote up on a few of them. https://www.goodreads.com/list/book/4...

Please look for "The Blue Unicorn's Journey To Osm Illustrated Book For Teens and Older Readers" on this Goodreads Listopia. https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9... A vote from you would be fantastic.

I've also written a companion book for little children called "Unicorns From Unimaise - The Magical Metal-Horn Tribe."

I also believe if you teach a child with a story and pictures, they will remember it forever. With that in mind, I wrote the "Learn To Tie A Tie With The Rabbit and The Fox" series of instructional books for boys and girls.

You can also vote for it on the best book for children to learn how to tie, here:

I am also the publisher of the 4 volume set - Sybrina's Phrase Thesaurus. Check out all of these books and if you like them, please recommend them to other Good Reads members.

Review:
So few days back I came across this book named The Elemental Dragons. Although I have passed that academic level, this book still helped me knowing more about the elements of a periodic table which I lacked to understand about during my school. The sole purpose of this book is to help memorize and get to know more about the elements and other metals of the periodic table. As we all know how difficult it is to learn the whole periodic table to a matter of fact that it feels impossible to memorize it but the author of this book have made sure to break down all the complex informations about the metals to the point in an easy and interesting way.

In this book dragons are given a role to represent each and every element. There are 26 dragons each representing an element alphabetically having different abilities and functions for which element they belong to. There's basic info about metals in this book along with it's historical events and fun facts. This book also contains fun activities related to the book title which makes this book more interesting and fantastic to read. At the end of the book various definitions are also noted in the most easiest words which will help understand things more quickly.

It is a great initiative taken by the author to explain with the help of a vivid display of illustration. Visual pictures really help students understand things in much more better way. By doing so pictures are created in the subconscious mind of human being which helps in connecting the knowledge dots in the brain. This makes learn things in a more entertaining manner. The most interesting fact about this book is that it is not only limited to tweens or teens but adults can also seek knowledge from this book, as knowledge is not limited to a certain group of people.

If you want to get to know about the metals of periodic table in the most convenient and fun way moreover if you're a curious being who loves knowing about history and also a fan of fantasy then this book is surely just for you.

Magical Elements of the Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically by the Elemental Dragons by Sybrina Durant is an enchanting exploration of the elements of the periodic table. Through captivating illustrations and engaging text, Durant brings each element to life, making learning about periodic table both educational and entertaining.

One of the highlights of the book is the depth of information provided on each page. From compounds to mixtures to alkalis, readers will find a wealth of knowledge about the elements and their properties. The 'Did you know' section (my favorite section) adds an extra layer of intrigue. Moreover, the book offers fascinating tidbits about the practical applications of these elements in everyday life.

Durant's emphasis on the importance of metals and technology is evident throughout the book, as she reminds readers that 'No Metal - No Magic... and No Technology.' This techno-magical theme adds an exciting dimension to the exploration of the periodic table.

Visually stunning and well-researched, this book is sure to captivate readers of all ages. Whether you're a curious young learner or an adult seeking to brush up on your chemistry knowledge, Magical Elements of the Periodic Table is a must-read. I thoroughly enjoyed this amazing book and highly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring the world of chemistry.

Thanks to @mbooktours and author @sybrinadurant for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this captivating book. I also commend Durant on her previous work, The Metal-Horn Unicorns, which I found equally delightful.

Book Review

The Elemental Dragon Clan and their techno- magical unicorn friends are the perfect groups to introduce you to metals and other elements in the periodic table.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Genre: Non-fiction, Educational, Science, fantasy.

My Thoughts:
Why Am I finding this book now when I could have loved chemistry in my 9th and 10th grade if it was available to me then.

Honestly this book is a literal masterpiece for chemistry learners and middle grades. The Author came up with a very unique and creative idea to ignite the love for learning and fantasy by bringing these two things together. I just loved the whole vibe of the book.

The illustrations, the fun facts, the colors, each page is a new discovery even for a person like me who runs away from educational books. The ones with dull colors and spotty writing. What's with the school books at my time?

Anyways, if you're a student of science and want a fun way to understand and know elements and their stories, do give this book a read. Or you could use this book as an opportunity to spark the love for book reading and learning in your child by gifting them this book.

Thank you mbooktour for letting me review this wondering book. I do look forward to more book tours.

And a bundle of thanks to the author for writing this book and making the whole educational and learning process more fun and easy.

This is super cute AND could be infinitely helpful. If someone had given me a book that incorporated dragons with learning the periodic table of elements I might have done a lot better in science classes!!

Highly recommend this for anyone really. Even a high schooler trying to learn the table might find some acronyms, comparisons, etc here that help them remember what is where. Regardless of how you memorize things like common calculations, table elements, multiplication/division, conversion factors, etc. it can help you be quicker with answers and a better problem solver to know this information on a quick recall.

As someone who still can’t do 6x7 quickly (I have trouble memorizing number combinations ) I would encourage an device (like this super cute book) that helps kids not only learn but remember what they have learnt!

Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.

I absolutely loved the Unicorns as they taught the period table, and I didn’t think it could get better. Except, it has. Now we have DRAGONS! And we have been a little into dragons around here with the books we’ve been reading together for book club with my co-blogger. So, yes, count me in!

I dare you to pick your favorite Elemental Dragon. DARE you. You can’t. They are each beautifully drawn and creatively described to teach the element. The unicorns had elemental horns; in this book, the adorably amazing dragons have elemental-tipped tails.

Each page is about an element introduced beautifully by a dragon. Each page shares facts, uses, and fun magical uses of the metals. Is there a more fun way to learn?

These Magical Elements of the Periodic Table books are such a great way to teach science to kiddos. They belong in every library and chemistry classroom to be enjoyed by young scientists everywhere.

This book is beautifully designed and illustrated, and it is full of interesting facts, but I am a little confused as to who the target audience is. It's a bit too wordy for early elementary, and the tone seems a bit off for mid grade. There are also allusions to a larger world already created?
I did some research on the author's webpage, which unfortunately is not optimized for mobile, and is just generally a bit disorganized. So I can't tell if this is meant to be a companion novel or to stand alone. (Unfortunately, it doesn't.)

Still, the illustrations are just lovely and I was enchanted by the concept of a dragon based periodic table picture book.

The purpose of this book really escaped me. Is it a book to teach children about the periodic table using dragons and pictures? Is it intended for an older audience? In both cases, I think it falls short. The illustration, which I thought would save it, looks like it was done on a computer and is not all that polished or interesting. And the text, while interesting, seems to be directed to an older reader who really would not necessarily appreciate the childlike drawings and the dragon linkages. I had thought maybe the dragons would help with memory, but they really aren't linked to the elements in a way that would help with that.

I did appreciate the facts and information provided for each of the elements covered. And I think that a middle schooler could use this as a reference for doing a project on a particular element or something similar. I am just not convinced that they would naturally pick this up to do that, because they would possibly think it was fiction or a fairy tale.

All in all, I think that this is a book that I would maybe pick up in a bookstore and then put back, and that's a shame because there is some good content embedded in it.

Have you ever wondered what study would have been like if we had fun books and fun teachers? It'd be be far from a burden and rather an awesome activity like. "The Elemental Dragons" is one of those books that makes you learn information without getting bored. It has a lot of illustrations, color and fun facts which becomes a friend for long study hours.

It is an alphabetically organized book; a dragon is named after each alphabet which represents the elements of the period table. We have A for Dragon "Antz" which describes Antimony — and Z for Dragon "Zora" which explains Zirconium. Facts, uses and atomic properties are explained for each element in a fantastic manner.

This book is for middle-graders. I think everyone should give it read and recommend it to younger siblings for their better understanding because it has both education and entertainment. It's definitely an outstanding book. I would have loved it had it been there when I was in middle grade.

The Elemental Dragons by Sybrina Durant is a short book for kids where dragons present 23 elements of the periodic table. Each dragon has a magical tail tipped with elements which give them unique powers. Interesting part is that these dragons are themselves narrators and telling their stories which I think not only kids but those of us who grew up watching Dragon Tales would love.

All information about elements like their properties, uses in daily life and interesting facts were presented beautifully with cute pictures. Did you know section included historical instances as well and it was very informative. It is a fun way to learn about elements of periodic table. Language was simple and understandable. Illustrations of dragons were really vibrant and lovely. Definitions at the end of the book can be very helpful for kids. This book can really make them interested in science and intrigue them to know more. ✨

Thank you @mbooktours & @sybrinapublishing for granting me the opportunity to be a part of this amazing book tour

I’ve always loved Sybrina’s writings because they are so unique in terms of context and concept. She writes educational books and they are so interesting that not only kids enjoy while reading them rather adults love them too. I’ve read her books about shoe laces and elemental unicorns and both of them are equally wonderful as this one.

You’ll find different dragons named after the elements of periodic table and every dragon represents the qualities, specifications and characteristics of an element.

The illustrations are super cute and attractive. This isn’t your regular/boring academic read. You’ll love reading it with your kids, little siblings or nephews and nieces. I highly recommend it and I look forward to read more interesting stuff by Sybrina.

Oh my goodness this is absolutely a five star read. Why? Because author came up with an intriguing and interesting way to learn about periodic table and it's elements. For someone who struggles with that, I have to say that this method was far more fruitful and fun. And I shall recommend it to every student. With each dragon author represented an element throwing it's uses, facts and little did you knows and I have to say this is so well written and informative. We need more books like this these days. Not only it makes studying more fun but it makes you wanna learn more. At the very end author also added a song to memorize it in a better way followed the mantra 'No metal, no magic and no technology' throughout the whole book. I freakish loved this.

Magical Elements Of The Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically
Okay, so reading this just intrigued me because I am a huge fan of Chemistry. And metals are my favourite subject to study on.Which this book focuses on. There is a Elemental Dragon Clan and their techno magical unicorn friends who I think are the best gang to introduce you to the periodic table of elements. I think my favourite would be Cole he presents Carbon it has the largest deposits of carbon. More interesting fact that its a strong conductor and a non metal. I didn't knew that just got to know. Overall reading acquired me alot of knowledge about periodic table elements. I enjoyed alot and I would recommend this to Chemistry lovers.

"Magical Elements of the Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically By The Elemental Dragons" is a captivating fusion of science and fantasy, tailored perfectly for enthusiasts of both dragons and chemistry. Authored by Sybrine Durant and embellished with enchanting illustrations by Pranavva, this book delivers an innovative approach to acquainting readers with the elements of the periodic table.

Structured alphabetically, each element is introduced by a member of the Elemental Dragon Clan, whose tails are tipped with the respective metal. This clever personification adds a delightful charm to the learning experience, as readers are guided through the properties and magical powers associated with each element. From Antz's introduction of Antimony to Zora's elucidation on Zirconium, every page is brimming with intriguing facts and engaging narratives.

What sets this book apart is its seamless integration of science and fantasy. By attributing magical abilities to the dragons based on the properties of their associated metals, Durant and Pranavva create a whimsical yet educational atmosphere. The underlying theme, "No Metal, No Magic. . .and No Technology," underscores the importance of understanding the elements of the periodic table in both scientific and fantastical realms.

One of the highlights of the book is the inclusion of a magical elemental-themed periodic table. This visual aid not only reinforces the association between dragons and elements but also serves as a handy reference for readers to revisit and reinforce their knowledge.

"Magical Elements of the Periodic Table" is not just a book for children; it caters to tweens, teens, and anyone with a curiosity for science and a love for imaginative storytelling. Author Sybrina Durant continues her book series on one of my favorite subjects – chemistry. In this book, she brings in the dragons.

The Magical Elements of the Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically by The Elemental Dragons is Book 2 of Durant’s chemistry series.

The Elemental Dragons leads readers on a discovery journey of 23 pure elements that make up our world. While everything in this book is fantabulous what I truly loved about this book was learning that only four women have discovered periodic table elements. One of them was Marguerite Perey who discovered francium. Francium is the second rarest naturally occurring element A cool historical fact is that this element is the last naturally occurring element to be discovered.

Teaching kids is challenging and with chemistry it is even more difficult. With each of the elements in this book Durant gives readers the element, atomic structure, simple facts, and did you know summaries. Tied to these to help make the connection better are the Magical Dragons with cool names like Maximo, Ozzy, Dusa, and Jalan to name a few. She incorporates the magical abilities of these dragons by showing how the element gives them magical power.

Each page is a snippet of the importance of that element that without it much of our world would not exist. Of course, I imagine seeing each of these dragons coming to life in stuffed animals allowing the kids to take home one for a week to discover that element in their surroundings and empowering them to understand that without that element they do not have a superpower.

High fives and fist bumps to Durant on a fab job of writing an engaging chemistry book I wish I had growing up.

Chemistry helps us understand how things are made. The Magical Elements of the Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically by The Elemental Dragons continues as a fantabulous foundation to help get kids interested and excited about chemistry at its basic levels by taking on the world of chemistry one dragon at a time.

There is a lot to like in this charming, informative book that teaches science via these cute and colorful dragons.

The facts about the elements on the periodic table covered in this book are presented in short bits of wordage that’s easily understood, with an accompanying illustration that helps firm up that understanding. Sometimes a picture truly is worth a thousand words. 😊

Students can open this book to find all kinds of fascinating information like this about carbon: It’s considered the universe’s weirdest molecule because of their structure that resembles a soccer ball. What a perfect image, especially for people well acquainted with that sport. “And because carbon forms more compounds than any other element, it is sometimes called the ‘King of the elements.’”

Who wouldn’t want to be king?

Each dragon has a magical power based on the element they represent. Some can start fires and others, like Jazzy Jalin can paint pictures with her tail that is tipped in Neon.

Combining learning with dragons and magic is a perfect way to teach.

As with the previous offering to learn about scientific elements presented by the magical unicorns, I enjoyed reading this book a lot. What a perfect way to learn some science without having to read a heavy textbook. The hard sciences were never my thing when I was in high school or college – social sciences were of much more interest – but if I’d had a book like this, I might have been more receptive to the idea of learning about the periodic table.

This book is sure to appeal to kids today who may be as reluctant to dig into hard science as I was.

The illustrations are lovely and so perfect for the content of the narrative they’re paired with. This is truly a wonderful blending of science and art and a great way to teach young and old about these elements. Highly recommended for schools, as well as a resource to have at home.

Before anything else, it’s worth taking a moment to appreciate the beautifully illustrated pages of Magical Elements of the Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically by the Elemental Dragons. The artwork by Pranavva, Tamagon, and Usman is rich and vibrant, bringing each dragon-inspired element to life in a way that is bound to enchant readers of all ages.

Written by Sybrina Durant, the book introduces young readers to the elements of the periodic table through charming dragon characters, each representing a unique element. From A to Z, every dragon not only showcases the basic properties of its element but also provides fun facts, applications, and “did-you-know” tidbits that make learning about science both magical and memorable. I particularly enjoyed learning about Zora and Tilly, who offer such interesting insights into their respective elements while sparking a sense of adventure and curiosity.

The book’s approach makes understanding the periodic table much more accessible, especially for younger readers or those new to chemistry. By combining scientific facts with fantasy, Magical Elements of the Periodic Table turns each element into a character you can connect with, making the periodic table feel less intimidating and more like an engaging storybook. Plus, the catchy song at the end is a clever addition, helping readers remember the mantra “No metal, no magic, no technology”—a perfect takeaway from this unique educational journey.

For anyone interested in science or fantasy, this book is a fun and valuable resource. Durant’s storytelling, paired with the illustrators' captivating artwork, transforms what could be a complex topic into a lighthearted adventure through the periodic table.

Magical Elements of the Periodic Table is an engaging, whimsical, and beautifully illustrated introduction to some of the real-life elements from the periodic table written by Sybrina Durant. Released 9th March 2024, it's 44 pages and is available in hardcover, paperback, and ebook formats. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free. The first book in the series, The Metal Horn Unicorns (same idea, with unicorns presenting the metallic elements), is also currently available on KU.

Each of the pages has info about the conductibility, ductility, physical properties, weight, name, number, and other "real life" physical info for the included elements as well as "magical" dragon info about their special powers and abilities (which are cleverly related to their element's actual physical properties). All the pages are colorfully illustrated in cartoon style, and for clever producers out there, talks should get underway for the unicorns and dragons to make their debuts on cartoon Saturdays (is that still a thing?).

This would make an excellent tie-in for classroom units on physical chemistry, nature science, etc. The target audience is 9-12 years, but all ages will enjoy the cute illustrations and creativity. It would make an excellent choice for public and school library acquisition, home use, and gift giving. The author has included an info/reference online page for background and further reading.

Five stars. Very fun.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
