Pervikar

Rate this book
Pervikar Devon is just an average farm-boy. Oh, except for the fact he is a half-ogre who stands seven and a half feet tall and has green hair. One day Per accidentally incurs the wrath of the queen by protecting two young women from the advances of a corrupt baron, and is forced to flee her assassins.

So begin Per's adventures. Leaving his home far behind, he sets out to find fortune, fame and female companionship. As he journeys across the strange, magical world of Provost, he encounters orcs and goddesses, mages and ghosts, and even a dragon. Along the way, he learns to be a leader and a lover, and using all that nature has endowed him with, rights a lot of wrongs and beds a lot of women. Per gets his intelligence and compassion from his human mother, and his strength and... size from his ogre father.

Pervikar, the opening volume of John Evans's classic erotic epic fantasy series, The Adventures Of Pervikar, is available for the first time in a new and definitive edition. Per will return in the next installment, The Rescue Of The Queen.

The Misadventures of Pervikar (and his party)

This book basically follows Pervikar as he wanders the land. It's an okay read, really. A comfy feel to it. It's divided in several parts, each comprising a separate adventure, and they mostly involve some steaming scenes, one way or another. It could do with a little more purpose: there's no villain in it to treat it as a high fantasy, nor do the characters develop any form of affection between them to treat it as a romantic adventure. The dialogue is good enough, a little stiff at times; and the characters have presence. But this lack of point doesn't let me give it a 4 stars.

Warning: This is not a harem book. The several characters present develop almost no romantic feelings throughout, and there's certainly no exclusivity to the sexual relationships present. Expect some non-consensual sex one time or another, but none left a really bad taste in my mouth, as the sex is this book is treated almost meaninglessly.

Is what it is. A bit better editing than when it was free on the web. I'd almost like to see this dialed back a bit and mainstreamed. It had a huge ton of potential for story based Harem Lit.

This is a good read with an interesting collection of adventures and a healthy dose of sex. It does meander though the story a little with no real purpose then ends in the middle of the last adventure to leave a cliff hanger. Not the best I've read in this genre but still enjoyable and I would recommend as a good light read
