The tutorial has barely started, and there is so much to discover.

Two new floors, two new floor quests. A dangerous 10-year-old girl wielding deadly flames with her emotion of fear blocked. Flashbacks revealing more of Nathaniel's past. Biscuit, now the best corgi of the 3rd floor, sounding suspiciously happy in the Community.
And more.
Joined by a trio from Hard difficulty, led by the ruthless Cipher, Nathaniel navigates the Last City's dangers to regroup with the rest of Group 4.

I really can't tell how I'm feeling about this series. I'm hooked but also bored. The hunting scenes are definitely my favorite along with anything that involves system progression
The backstory was needed in book one. Too late now, I’ve already solidified the mc in my mind. The mana insanity is quite draining where I didn’t want to read further. His stupidity and callousness without real consequences wears on my soul. It is a good story but those things have even stopped my smile from appearing at the silliness. It no longer feels like a story and now a dream or some fantasy. The flippant attitude does not help at all.
3.5 stars. Still enjoying this series despite the unsympathetic protagonist*. There was a number of times in this story that I wondered why I had pre-purchased it and dropped everything else to read it immediately upon its release, but in the end I went ahead and pre-purchased the next in the series as well, which does show that I remain invested in the story, despite its flaws.
(* - In many respects, Nat is just an anime protagonist, imo. Completely alien in his behaviour to Western eyes as driven by his own single-minded focus on his own desires and struggle to advance rather than by any recognizably human impulses. Yes, there are in-game reasons for his behaviour but that doesn't detract from how difficult it can be to follow a character as unlikeable as this one. That said, there are enough cracks in this demeanour to hope that he grows in this regard as the series continues.)
It was super dope while the Mac was trying to be a solo character. But This book has turned into the same as all the others. A OP character that is now convinced to take care of a bunch of useless folks. Nothing wrong with a character with feelings but the awesome novelty about this serious was the MCs calculating and some what vicious mentality. Now it’s a boring trope that’s been repeated a thousand times. This author isn’t as bad as others but there is also the issue of the magic mechanics being broken so those around the Mac can somewhat keep pace with his leveling. It doesn’t make sense obviously he is killing Demi god level things to acquire all his levels so fast and somehow those around home are only like 20 levels behind.
Thought this series would be another cookie cutter litrpg to while away a few hours. Boy was I wrong. This series has been excellent and the second book was hard to put down, great mix of action, character building, with a sprinkle of humor. Looking forward to book 3.
Well I tried to give the series a try even though everyone is just absolutely insane, the MC is the almost typical imbibe of these kinds of books. Too much brawn over brains, the quantity over quality and his offensive toxic personality . I made it to almost 35 % but giving up
Overall, not a terrible story, but I do have some issues with it. The pace slows down compared to the 1st volume, the story focuses more and more on side characters that are, frankly speaking, not that interesting. The MC 'devolves' into your regular wuss MC that cares too much about his friends and sacrifices himself. This does not fit his so-called background, nor does it make sense given the hard issues and all the killing characters must face. I'm sure that the author is thinking of this as personal growth, but it just makes the MC unrealistic, lame and annoying. But the biggest flaw is the slowdown in the pace of the story. I don't care about every thougth the MC has, or about his fee-fees, I'm reading this for the action. When stories change this way, I feel cheated. Unfortunatley, the next volume has the same flaws.
Kinda like two books in one, just like the first book, in that we have two full story arcs and (almost) two whole levels for each story, with whole new worlds. And we're not even stuck on hell difficulty the entire time. Indeed, it can get WORSE.
Frankly, I'm really enjoying it all for the creative uses of mana--and perhaps even more than before. Just how beast can Nate get with his mana obsession, anyway?
I wanna see him go Absolute. Honestly. Big Boss level. It's gonna be funny as hell.
Personal note: If anyone reading my reviews is be interested in reading my SF (Very hard SF, mind you), I'm open to requests.
Just direct message me in goodreads or email me on my site. I'd love to get some eyes on my novels.
Our sociopathic/psychopathic MMC finally started having more meaningful interactions with the group of people that he joined the tutorial with, and while there were still some TSTL decisions, he seemed to think about how to benefit the whole group more than every man for himself. I appreciated the pacing of once again not stretching out a floor per book, but I found the MMC's magic specialization rather broken, and it was a stretch to believe that he learned how to control these powers that much through theorycrafting to beat enemies 40+ levels above him.
None of the characters really stood out to me (other than Biscuit forever), the descriptors used were still very repetitive, but the plot so far is keeping me interested, and the characters have been making good progress on their skills and powers.
When I picked up the first book I really just wanted to scratch the litrpg itch but I gradually got invested in the story the more I read. Having read this book I am locked in. There were parts that genuinely surprised me. A certain confrontation was resolved in an unexpected way and I was pleasantly surprised
Nat is really getting into the tutorial and starts to figure out a lot more of what he can do, challanges himself a lot more and of course gets a lot more mana to play with!
I liked that this book ends on such a light note, it leaves you feeling happy! I’ve read more chapters on royal road, and I have to say that this series just gets better and better!
I love this series so far I especially like how more fantasy books have main characters that are odd balls and stereotypical super charismatic jocks I will eagerly wait for more hope this series will be a long one
This was a great read. It built nicely on the first book, with all the characters growing. None of the characters are perfect, but watching them interact and learn to develop and work with other was hella fun
The first person perspective is still not great, but it's also a weirdly compelling story and keeps you wanting to read more about Nathaniel and group 4. I'm routing for Lily and nate even with how he is.
Fun story, but absolutely bottom tier prose and dialog. The author’s idea of clever and compelling style is realizing he has “don’t” twice in one sentence and changing the first instance to “do not”.
Similar but better than the first book. Mostly the same cast of characters but different situations and the story encompasses the depth of the whole group. The MC gets more and more powerful.
I wish they would let you know when changing characters in the story because their where at least 10 times where you started with one character and changed to another character without any word or indication.
The writer is Uber talented and brilliant at creating characters... Go biscuit... Becoming one of my fav writers.... Highly recommend JD Glasscock Author of the Series Blood Brothers and Nocturne
He'll yeah! Another great edition of the sociopaths story! The challenges, the tension, the patience all work together to create a wonderfully fast, yet also patient story. Can't wait for the next installment of Buiscit's story, the animal overlord!
The main character is initially unlikeable, but I'm glad I stuck with the series through the second book because I find myself liking him more. Overall, I think these books are worth the read and now I'm going to get the third book.
This narrator is so close to being totally unreliable I can't help but feel entertained. Nat is plainly a little unhinged and that adds such a nice flavor to the story.
