The Network Effect: A Practical Guide to Making- and Keeping- the Connections That Can Make Your World Go Round

Rate this book
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a consultant, a jobseeker, in sales or business development, or simply want to move
your career in the right direction, this book walks you
through everything you need to know about connecting with
other people. We can say that with certainty because it’s
been written as an extension of the interactive workshops
that we’ve run for business schools, companies and other
organisations since 2001.

What The Network Effect offers is sound, proven and above all
practical advice underpinned by an explanation of the relevant
concepts. If you understand why something works as well as how,
you have a far better chance of making it work for you. And that,
in the final analysis, is our aim – to turn each and every reader
into a better networker.

This book didn’t teach me anything new but I can’t give it too low a rating because it does explain sound concepts. Tell a lie - I learnt what a Rolodex is! One or two chapters are dated but the core concepts are relevant as networking is ultimately about people, not technology. To be fair, the book recommends ditching the Rolodex and migrating to digital solutions.

The first few chapters described why networking is so useful/powerful/important, which dragged on for me because I agreed with everything being said - that’s why I bought the book after all!

I would only recommend this to people who are clueless about networking, perhaps young people still in education.

An interesting book packed with case studies. I’ve definitely taken away a few tips that I can put into practice.

Disappointed in the number of formatting errors on the Kindle Unlimited version of this.

Helpful but needs and update

Thank you, It certainly covers very useful topics around networking and how to improve it, perhaps more real and straightforward examples could have been given instead of all the real cases which are not properly formatted in the kindle version of the book. A great book for newbies on networking and I hope to contribute with a real success story wishing an updated version of the book (elaborating a lot more in the topic of the last chapter) will be soon released
