Where there's SMOKE, there's fire...

SMOKE

My partner,
My confidante,
My friend,
And my lover.

At least that's what she thinks.
After all, she's been through,
I'll keep up the charade.
It's the least I can do
For the beautiful, feisty, smart woman
Who stole my heart.

After the truth comes out,
She leaves without a trace.

But when she's in danger,
I'll move mountains to get her back.

SIREN
He lied.
He played me.
He broke me.

I refuse to stick around
And be his fool.
He may be strong, rugged, and perfect,
But this SIREN waits for no man's call.
He may have lit my fire,
But no amount of SMOKE can rekindle this smolder.

While each book in the Invincibles Series is a standalone with its own HEA, they may be more enjoyable read in order.

These two are true heroes!

Wow! What an opening! Wounded by a gunshot to the head while on a mission (events described in Riled), Siren is just waking up in the hospital with her team partner, Smoke, by her side. These two have such a contentious connection that their one night on a beach was just a fleeting anomaly in an otherwise bitter, hate-fueled relationship. Except that their one beautiful night is the only thing Siren can remember, and believing they're in love is the only thing giving her the strength to put her life back together. Smoke plays along and arranges for her care at his ranch, knowing that as soon as her memory returns the animosity will be right behind it.

This first part was so beautifully written! It honestly gave me goosebumps to watch these two act like they're in love, especially when one wasn't acting. Of course, soon neither is. Then the hammer drops, and all bets are off.

The second part really amps up the action as Siren deals with her returning memories and Smoke accepts a seemingly unrelated assignment in Paris. This nail-biting part really drives home the lessons learned back on his ranch while addressing all the various stages of their history throughout their time together. I was truly impressed by how the author wrapped up various story threads, more than I even knew were left dangling. The attention to detail is so precise that I'd bet the author's notes on these series is thousands of pages deep.

I loved the unexpected (but entirely appropriate) twist that brings about their HEA. I also loved the way the author brought in various characters across her K19/Invincibles world to show the real community at the heart of these companies and their operatives. I think this is my favorite book yet from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Smoked is book 5 in the Invincible series by Heather Slade and oh my what a steamy, heart pounding, sexy book!

Up next is Smoke and Siren...she is shot during an op and has amnesia but remembers she and Smoke are in love...well maybe deep down. Smoke will do whatever it takes to help her get her memory back but they have had a love/hate relationship for a long time. When she does remember she takes off to parts unknown..what happens next will keep you on the edge of your seat, lots of twists, turns, suspense and what happens when they finally meet up again??

Siobhan 'Siren' Gallagher was injured during Konstantine's hospital escape. She now has amnesia but remembers an interlude she had with Smoke on an Island. She thinks they are in love when in actuality they are anything but. Her condition is such that they can't let the IMI (Irish Military Intelligence) know. She would lose her job even before they know if she will be capable again. Smoke takes a while to decide what to do, but he knows he has to take care of Siren.

To do that he brings her to his ranch, high in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee, it's a beautiful working ranch where he will eventually retire. It's also close to Ashville where they will be consulting with experts to determine if Siren's amnesia will be permanent. Fortunately after all the tests and scans are done they believe it's temporary but it will take time. Smoke also realizes he will have to keep playing the contented lover at least until she remembers she hates him.

With problems of cattle rustlers Smoke has called Decker to set up security like they have on the King/Alexander ranch. When rustlers do the unthinkable, Decker is able to come out sooner to get him set up. It's toward the end of this installation that Smoke and Decker have a conversation about Siren. One that she only hears part of and runs.

Siren makes sure she can't be traced when she heads back home. Even after she talks with her boss at IMI she remains on medical leave until she's fit for duty. When boredom hits, he suggests she look for the Irish Crown Jewels. Even though it was really just busy work, she actually does the research and starts looking.

In the meantime Smoke hooks back up with the 'Invincibles' to take down the rest of the folks involved in the espionage responsible for the death of many agents. They've brought down the head of the CIA in the US, but there are others involved. They need the proof and the names.

Little did they know that these two very different investigations were going to cross paths. Siren also finds out more about her own family during her search.

From hot and heavy to cold as ice and back again, Smoke and Siren are made for each other. They just need to realize it themselves.

There is plenty of suspense and intrigue, Kindle melting heat and so many twists right up to the end. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I absolutely fell in love with this pair. Something about them connected with me from the first page, well, aside from being an intensely harrowing rescue scene and not knowing the outcome. Keep reading, it gets even more ... just everything.
Smoke, an independent operative, hires out to agencies like K19 and the Invincibles, not because he needs the money. Oh no, this perfectly seasoned Hot specimen is mega rich, and get this; he owns a huge ranch in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee called the Blazing T. Hah, love the play on words here already.
Smoke, however, is still unsettled, even more so after their last mission that went south for Siren and the pain in his side, now at his side, suffers from memory loss which may or may not return ... ever. The good, or bad, nah it's all good, to come out of this has Siren believing they are and have been lovers in love. What a sexy conundrum, and it all escalates as Siren works to retrieve those precious memories. Things get twisted out of context and Siren makes a hasty, cover-her-tracks retreat back to her old boss at IMI in Ireland.
The past rears itself up in the perfect way this author is so very skilled at, spectacular, twisted, and mind boggling how intricately detailed all the dots start connecting. It also comes to light there are still some who want that past to stay hidden right along with the legendary Irish Crown Jewels. Go ahead, look it up, this part is true, and my mind is wowed again.
I couldn't put this down until I got that bonus HEA with an awww, and happy tears.
An engaging fast-paced read to keep you guessing, hoping, and feeling all the feels on every page. The connection was instant for me, the storyline was just fantastic, and their Heat was scorching.
A def recommend from me.

Smoke and Siren

When Siren opens her eyes in the hospital room, all she sees is Smoke. She asks him to hold her. He looks at her real strange because they always fought with each other.
But she had been shot when protecting Kensington on an op from Konstantin. She had amnesia. She was trying to remember what happened but she knew she loved Smoke.
Smoke was afraid to tell her the truth. The Doctor toldhim it would hurt her healing process.
She worked for IMI and he was a free agent working with MI6 and the Invincible Agency.
Deep down he did love her but he was older than her and figured it wouldn't work. He figured once she got her memory back their animosity would be back.
He took care of her on his ranch and took her to all of her Doctor appointments and tests.
She wanted him to make love to her like they did that night on the beach.
When she's better. She over hears a conversation with Smoke and Decker about him not wanting to ever be put on an op with Siren. She takes off but doesn't hear the part about him being in love with her.
She goes back to Ireland. Her boss, Hugh, won't take her back so had her investigate a cold case about some stolen Crown jewels.
Never realizing it would put her life in danger. She finds out who her Father was. How their lives connected. But someone is after some information but she doesn't know that.
Smoke goes to Ireland to bring her back but gets caught in the intrigue and gets hurt trying to save her from a burning building.
Through it all they realize they are in love.
Great story of two opposites and how they work together and find love.
Another great hit by Heather Slade. Love her Alpha males and their strong willed woman.

I love Heather's work she draws me in every time and I feel as though her characters become my friends while I read the story and I absolutely love how she brings past characters into each story While each story can be read as a stand alone do yourself a favour and read them all and I mean all her series as even some of these cross over.

Siobhan 'Siren' Gallagher is a member of IMI (Irish Military Intelligence) and has been working a case with Smoke who is former CIA but is now freelance. She is injured during the operation and is now suffering from Amnesia He knows that she will discharged from IMI if they knew before they even knew if the amnesia is permanent so he take her to his ranch where he hopes to retire eventually Siren thinks that they are lovers and he plays the part to keep her settles but when her memory returns she is mortified and flees him. Returning to Ireland and on sick leave she is given the job of searching for the Irish crown jewels while Smoke is working with the invincible's` ion their case to bring down the traitors What happens when these cases intersect ad Smoke and Siren meet again You will have to read to see

Smoked is book 5 in the Invincible’s Series it is Smoke and Sirens story. Both Siren and Smoke work in intelligence. Siren works for the IMI (Irish Military Intelligence) and Smoke worked for the CIA, but now freelances. They both possess very quick tempered and angry dispositions. They were paired together on a mission in which Siren was severely injured. Each story in this series has been amazing. The storyline just grabs ahold of you, grabs your heart and refuses to let go until the very last word is read. The characters are believable, lovable and you can’t help but sit on the edge of your seat rooting for them in all their endeavors. The chemistry between Smoke and Siren is completely off the charts 🔥hot! The story is filled to the brim with action, secrets, danger, suspense, surprises, twists and turns, amnesia, love, and denial. It’s like each book in this series deserves at least one maybe more stars than the previous book before it. I absolutely cannot wait for book #6 BUCKED. This is a series in my library that I will read several times over again. ❤️❤️❤️ IT!! I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.

Smoked is one hot romantic suspense! It's the story of Smoke, an independent contract intelligence agent, and Siren, a member of the IMI (Irish Military Intelligence). Both are working the same case when, after suffering amnesia from a head wound, Siren can only recall one specific event. Smoke takes the responsibility of Siren's recovery to heart, and hopes for the best. As events from the past become entangled with the present, it will take several agencies, as well as Smoke and Siren, to discover the true identities of the traitors responsible for a string of deaths.
This author has written a tightly woven story with multidimensional characters that will have you on the edge of your seat, pulling an all-nighter reading Smoked. While you know that there will be an HEA ending, it doesn't come easy for Smoke and Siren; but then, you wouldn't expect it from them! In short, I loved it.
This book has explicit bedroom scenes and adult language and is written for adult reading entertainment.
5 stars!

Welp I really am at a loss for words on this one. This author keeps me reeling as we go from one of her squad to the next waiting for her to slip up and make her stories benign just to be flat but she just gots to keep them real and flowing and yeah hot and steamy as well. This time they go from hatemies to . . . rehab lovers?!? Yeah but don't get it twisted, this author doesn't do simple and neither do her guys. From the happenings on his ranch and the people who run it in his absence to the woman of his heart Smoke shows in his own way what they all mean to him. For her to show the vulnerability her injury causes yet the strength of her character and background require all lead to a great read with plenty of action. The story continues to unfold with plenty of action and intrigue that keep you coming back for more as each one of The Invincibles gets their chance and in this case gets smoked.

Siren works for the Irish Military Intelligence, she sometimes gets loaned out if needed on special ops. Smoke used to work for the CIA but now he freelances his services. These two have a love/hate relationship but are still able to work great together. They are working together on assignment when Siren is shot and loses her memory, she believes that she's in love with Smoke. When he is told to go along with what Siren believes he takes her to his home to take care of her.
This story was well-written, well well-developed and had an engaging storyline. The characters are interesting and well-developed. Siren and Smoke were both likable characters and they had amazing chemistry. There was plenty of action, drama, intrigue, suspense, emotions and steam. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!

A wonderful story.

This is the story of Smoke & Siren. They both work in Intelligence; Smoke was with the CIA, but now freelances, and Siren works for the Irish Military Intelligence. They were paired up for a mission. They have a love hate relationship. Smoke is angry most of the time. Siren is angry most of time. There are ups and down in their personal life and in their professional life. No doubt, they are very attracted to each other. There are easy times between them, and intense times between them. There are twists and turns in this story that lead them to be apart. Two separate investigations lead them to the same investigation. I love Heather Slade's writing, and the way she lets everything come together in the end. Kudos, Heather Slade, you've done it again. Looking forward to your next book.

Amnesia Turned on its Head!!

I’ve read amnesia stories where one part of a couple cannot remember the relationship. I’ve never read one like this!! This was fabulous!! The couple in question here are actually partners who do not care for each other. Except one occasion where the sparks flew – and that is the one memory that our heroine remembers. The doctors say not to tell her as he is her only stability now.

Talk about awkward. Explores the thin line between love and hate. Both sides require passion.

The progression is entertaining and rather unpredictable.

There is more than the relationship here – there are bad people in high places that need to be taken down. Our various teams get involved and its Invincibles and K19 at their best. Splendid story!!

Dang, I love this series and this I read is just as fantastic. I love a book that you can get into and not want to put down. Smoke used to be with the CIA, but now is a freelance agent, but the Invincibles want him to join their team. Siren is an agent with the IMI and on loan with the Invincibles. He is 38 and she’s 26. They hate one another and fight and argue constantly One drunken night all that anger and hate turns into blazing passion. A captivating storyline and wonderful characters that steal your heart. It’s a fast paced, action packed read with complications, amnesia, secrets, danger, suspense, surprises, twist and turns and admission of true feelings. Absolutely loved it and highly recommend this entire series.

There's a fine line between love and hate. If ever two people epitomized that it's Siobhan "Siren" Gallagher and Boderick "Smoke" Torcher. They mix together about as well as oil and water. If it wasn't for miscommunication there wouldn't be any conversation at all except when they snarled, argued and fought one another as well as their feelings. But a bout of amnesia shakes things up for both of them. In fact, it really crystallized Smoke's feelings but before he can act--she's gone. Siren tries to get he life back and an offhand remark has her digging into a hundred plus year old mystery. It turns deadly when a highly placed corrupt law enforcement official takes things into his own hands. Fortunately Smoke, Deck, Casper and Siren's boss arrive at a crucial moment to save all involved. Siren and Smoke finally stop talkng at each other and declare their love.

Maybe the best story so far of the whole combined series of K19/Invincibles. Like many others it begins with tragedy. Siren is shot in the head and as a result has partial amnesia. She only remembers a passionate night with her partner Smoke, not remembering their rather antagonistic relationship. To help her he plays along and falls deeply, dreading the time when she will remember again.
A wonderful story that feels so real, fully engaging the reader and keeping them on their toes.
An emotional roller coaster with an unexpected event finally bringing the happy end.
This is Siren and Smoke's story, but at the same time we meet many of our old friends again from the Invincibles as well as from the K19 team, a close knit community, who would do almost anything for each other.

Solid 4.5 star
I loved how this is part of the Invincible series but both both Smoke and Siren are part of the team ... yet hopefully!! Smoke and Siren really are a clash of will and feelings and with how it starts you don't know if what Smoke holds back is right or wrong and then when the twists starting coming you are trying to guess what exactly is going on or which way things will go next. There is loads of attraction, fiery clashed, doubts, secrets, family history revealed as well as plenty of people you don't know if you can trust along with the hope that finally Smoke and Siren will take on board what Uncle Gene and Ms Wynona already know!

A brilliantly written story with drama, mystery, tension, and love. There are twist and turns throughout the book which comes along with their professions. Storm worked for the CIA, but currently freelances his services. Siren works for the Irish Military Intelligence and gets loaned out if needed on special ops. On their last op together, Siren gets hurt and ends up with amnesia, and Storm helps with her recovery until she walks away. They have passionate natures in both their arguments and steamy lovemaking. I enjoyed the suspenseful story. I love Heather Slade's writings.

Is It Love, Or Can It Be Hate?

They say that there is a fine line between love and hate. When Siren wakes up with fragmented memories, she remembers being in love with Smoke. The feelings between them are complicated. What happens when Siren remembers the truth? Once Smoke rescues her, their relationship gets even more convoluted. While they navigate their feelings, there is a deadly plot afoot. Siren and Smoke must survive lethal assassins and rogue agents before they can deal with their feelings. I enjoyed this romantic suspense and look forward to what comes next. If you like contemporary romance that keeps you on the edge of your seat, you might enjoy this story.

Smoke and Siren are intelligence operatives from the U.S. and Ireland. Working together on a mission, then she gets hurt and loses certain parts of her memory. Smoke tries to help her, and at the same time, the masterminds of trouble are still at it. The characters are terrific, with so much history and emotions. The suspense, intrigue, twists and deceptions keep the pages turning. The romance that once was, starts to slowly start up again. Surprises and revelations will change their outcome, along with figuring out who the real culprit is. The ending will bring a few tears to your eyes.

This is a fast paced story this is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. It's the story of Smoke and Siren together they were amazing and well written with a well developed story line that I loved reading. Smoke was with the CIA, but now freelances, and Siren works for the Irish Military Intelligence. They are paired up for a mission and they are attracted to each other. It's intense at times between them and there's twists and turns for them to get to their happy ever after but I loved this story and can't wait to read more.

4.5 Stars. It’s been awhile since I read a book from this Series. It’s one of those Series, I give the books mixed reviews.
This time I found the complicated Hate/Love relationship between Smoke and Siren totally entertaining. The first part of the book is about their relationship, that is anything but conventional. The sex scenes are sensual, and don’t over power the storyline.
The second half includes the mystery, as well as their opportunity for a real chance at love. The suspense isn’t as intense as other books, but held my interest.
My only issues are their code names— Smoke and Siren- really?

memories and emotions

Siren and Smoke. Met them on the previous story and this picks up from that where Siren was injured. The amnesia is concerning, but the one memory she has sets the tone for the book and one incredible HEA. The travel and opening up was colorful and engaging. The two teams were both present in this book and played a role in helping the two fix all their problems. Casper showed a different side to herself in this book and I can’t wait for more of her and hopefully her second chance at love. The danger part was unexpected, but tied in brilliantly with a previous storyline for k19. I enjoyed this couple and hope we see more of them.

I thought that this book was just incredible and that's saying something because this is a great series. Smoke and Siren's tale is truly epic. The journey that the author takes these characters on is eventful, moving and memorable. It is a unique combination of love/hate filled dance of desire and emotional roller coaster ride. The addition of action, danger and suspense serve as the sprinkles on the top of what is already a truly delectable treat for the reader. I am electing to post a sincere review.

Easy five stars. Action packed from beginning to end with sometimes friends and sometimes enemies. Both characters were well developed and realistic. The story was fast paced and exciting. While this is part of a series, this will stand alone (you’re missing out if you skip the other stories though). I always expect and get a well written story that doesn't have any TSTL moments or things that could be resolved by a conversation. Excellent read with no negatives at all other than you won’t be able to stop til you reach the end so plan accordingly.

This is book 5 in The Invincibles series and it features Siren and Smoke.  When they say it’s a thin line between love and hate, I’m pretty sure they were talking about these two.  The action and adventure was constant.  The misunderstandings are on-point.  The steam filled attraction was off-the-charts HOT!  There were a couple different story lines that at times ran  into each other.

There’s a lot to follow, as is the norm in this author’s AMAZING stories.  In the end, most of it comes together and if it doesn’t, that just gives you thoughts for  the next book.  FABULOUS read!

I have loved all Heather's stories and this is no exception. Part of the K19/Invincible's series it tells the story is Smoke and Siren who has lost her memory after being shot in the head during the previous operation. They always had a love hate relationship but now all she remembers is the love. Smoke is advised by doctors that it is safer to play along until her memory returns. This will keep you griped until the end.

OMG. What a fantastic read. Siren and Smoke light up the sky! Secrets and lies, recovery from injuries, moving forward. These two characters are so interesting and this story proves that there is a thin line between love and hate. What I also loved about this story is that we catch up with a number of characters from previous books, especially Decker Ashford! Every time I read one of Heather Slade’s books, I realize why I fell in love with her writing. Her prose are crisp, her characters interesting, there is intrigue, suspense, and I hate to put the book down! Wonderful read!

This is the 5th book in The Invincibles Series and it doesn't let you down. It is a action packed read with amnesia, secrets, danger, suspense, surprises, twist and turns and discovering their true feelings for each other. There's not much more you could want in a book or series for that matter. This is Smoke & Siren's story.
