He’s determined to protect her.
She’s determined to tempt him.
Together, things get RILED up.

RILE
It’s a job,
Only a job.
I’m doing a favor for the Queen,
But watching over this young, sexy, and incorrigible woman is frustrating,
As she parades around half-naked without a care in the world.

My mind and body won’t agree.
But when her life is threatened,
My sixth sense kicks in.
Saving her is my only mission.
But everything about her has me all RILED up.

Kensington
Suffocating,
I’m nearly drowning in this life I’m trapped in.

But when he comes in to watch over me,
Things are definitely looking up.
He’s sexy and rugged as Hell.
Tempting him becomes my favorite hobby.

Something’s holding him back,
Something haunts him, or is it someone?
I’m determined to help him get rid of his pain,
Let go of his demons.

After all, this man’s got me all RILED up.

Oh, I thought that this book was absolutely delicious!! Rile and Kensington's romance delivers plenty of emotion, tension and heat. I thought these two made an amazing couple. Rile's closed off, almost stoicism generated atomic sparks when met by Kensington's fierce determination. Attraction, desire, danger, baggage, turmoil, drama, tension and emotion are skillfully crafted into a potent blend that will quickly pull you in and have you dancing on the edge, eager to see what happens next. This is a terrific read and a excellent addition to this series. I am electing to post a candid review.

Rile and Kensington’s story was full of action and romance, suspense and chemistry. It kept me glued to my kindle and wanting more.

Rile is calm, cool, and collected. He’s intriguing. He’s also a hot alpha. Kensington has a mind of her own and stands up for herself. The two of them have such chemistry. Such a connection. It can’t be denied.

Riled takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. It’s never boring. And it makes me wish I had read the other books in the series. This is my second book by Heather. And I very much enjoyed it.

An arc was provided for an honest review.

ONE ADRENALINE RUSHING RIDE!!!
Spectacular! Heather dropped the bomb, blowing me clean out of the water with this breathless wonder, laying out one arresting storyline and gripping plot, ratcheting up the thrill of the chase and the skill of the hunt, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. May/December never sounded so sweet. Obliterating the boundaries and pushing the limits, laying out strong suits and short straws, getting weighed and balanced, bouncing this gem into the eye of the storm, slamming it into overdrive, launching it into a hissy with a mind-blowing culmination. Shenanigans, escapades and havoc run amuck, rousting the drama, anxiety, intrigue, turmoil, underlying threats, danger, mounting suspense and intense situations along with a double dose of quick wit, you have one jaw dropping masterpiece. Carrying the load and towing the line, imparting one action packed, hard hitting, pulse racing, heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, page flipping, block busting bombshell, keeping you riveted on a razors edge and frozen to your seat. The potently raw magnetism, attraction and sizzling chemistry explores the intensity, drawing you deeper until you feel the electrifying hum running rampant through your veins. The characters are complex and authentic with qualities and traits that blend and flow, adding depth, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes come alive wonderfully with such abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Heather, thanks for sharing this lil' fella with us.

Wow! The hottest and coolest hero yet!

Cortez DeLeon is cooler than a frozen cucumber, a man who is always in charge, defers only to reigning monarchs (and his mother), and is the purest definition of a dominant alpha male I've ever read. Why his code name is Rile remains a mystery, as this guy never loses his cool and effortlessly maintains control like it's his second skin.

But mix him up with Kensington, who needs his protection from a ruthlessly unhinged suitor, and all his icy layers burst into instant flame. He doesn't want to want her, yet the fiery passion between these two can't be ignored by anyone, no matter how hard they try. The heat generated by these two could power their island getaway for years. Their connection was so much more than just a physical attraction, and I absolutely loved every scintillating scene.

Kensington is smart and intuitive, romantic to her core, and not afraid to stand up and face the challenges thrown her way. She knows her own mind, even when Rile thinks she's too young to know what she's getting into. I loved how she really came into her own through this ordeal, and how she fit so seamlessly into his world. I loved the nod to how much like his mother she was, and how perfectly in tune she was with what he needed.

There's just the lightest touch of almost paranormal empathic abilities which was so beautifully arrayed that it connected all the story points together like a long set of twinkling holiday lights, adding such a magical depth of feeling that it elevates this story above all the previous books in this fascinating world. As much as I've loved everything this author has written, this one is hands down the best yet. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Fabulous International Intrigue!!

Rile is given a royal decree to protect the much younger and beautiful Kensington. When Rile lost his wife and unborn child he decided never to risk his heart again. An attraction builds which is impossible to ignore.

When danger escalates, these two realize how much they care for each other. Exciting, entertaining and romance and it’s very best!!

I enjoyed reading this story! Cortez is tasked to find Kensington and inlist the some of the Invincibles to help him. Cortez finds her just in time to save her from Konstantine and what he is doing to her. Kensington can't believe what Konstantine is doing to her and what he is about to do her and then someone takes him off her and carries her away. Cortez is immediately attracted to her but fights it because he still grieves for his wife and believes he is to old for her. I could not put it down I had to keep reading to find out what is happening and how it turns out. I recommend this book !!!!!

Riled has been much anticipated by me. He's made appearances in earlier books, full of mystique and so omniscient, making him even more intriguing.
Well, here he is and he's even better than my imagination. I didn't know what to think when I read the prologue, it was tissue time already!
Her Majesty calls on Rile to rescue her Great Niece, Kensington. He does so grudgingly, as he thinks she's just a spoiled young lady out partying. His feelings change immediately, when he senses she's in danger. The rescue is successful, and he and Grinder deliver her to her mother's.
He can't quite get her out of his head and it doesn't help when he hears another voice telling him Kensington is in danger yet again. The danger is not going away, so he whisks her to his island.
I don't want to give anything away, but this journey transcends way beyond a man and woman falling in love. Rile has already loved and lost. Doesn't want that hurt again so tries to close himself off.
Kensington wants him and truly understands him, almost as if she knows how he feels. She becomes his in every way imaginable, yet Rile thinks he needs to set her free, even if there is still a threat to Kensington lurking about. Damn his nobility lol.
Riled takes you on one hell of an emotional trip from start to finish, no matter the scenario. It is a page turner for sure, and will have you laughing one second or angry the next, along with all the in betweens. Never a dull moment!
Even the HEA may have you sniffling happily, it's quite the poignant moment.
I would say this is probably the most emotional journey I have read from this author, and I loved every bit.
Riled is part of a series, but can stand on its own quite nicely. I do recommend reading all the Invincibles. More deliciousness of their own, well written and complete journeys.

Cortez, aka Rile, has been asked by the Queen to protect someone she cares about very much, Kensington Whitby. From the moment Rile rescues Kensington from someone trying to do her harm he feels the connection and it’s a connection he does not want. He is suffering from a tragedy that happened several years ago. His heart knows he can’t ever open up to that kind of hurt again but his body and mind are fighting his heart. When Kensington is in real danger he gets a group together to protect her life. During this time together sparks fly and a real closeness develops; however, there are many things threatening to keep them apart.

Riled is my absolute favorite in this series! It is a beautiful love story with such tenderness as well as being a very sexy story. I love Rile and Kensington’s characters so much. They were so made for each other. The plot is nail biting, page turning and “can’t wait to see how it ends” kind of a story. The heartbreak that Rile suffered is so sad and the author has written such a beautiful side story regarding this. I loved it! I enjoy stories where the H and H are together for most of the book, having to “go against” whatever forces are trying to keep them apart. This book did not disappoint in the plot, the main characters, and had really interesting secondary characters. The reader gets a peak at what characters from previous books are doing and some are woven quite nicely into Rile’s book. Riled is a very lovely addition to this series. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

Cortez 'Rile' DeLéon has a very interesting background and I'm not talking about his time with SIS. This story opens with a very interesting conversation with Rile and the Queen of England who happens to be his second cousin once removed. She wants his help to find Kensington her great-great niece. It needs to be done under the table to avoid any unnecessary press.

Rile gets in touch with Grinder who is still in London and the two of them begin their search for Kensington. Apparently she's been keeping company with Konstantine von Habsburg, heir to the former Austro-Hungarian throne and she was last sighted in Budapest.

After extracting her from the clutches of Konstantine, arrangements are made for her to her mother Kiki's home in America. Unfortunately it isn't long before Kensington hears a conversation between her mother and Konstantine. In a panic she calls Cortez and arrangements are made to get her out of there. Arrangements that have her meeting up with one of her best friends Teagan 'Angel' Evans who is now part of her security. As they begin the journey back to England, plans change a word reaches them of an attempt on Konstantine's cousin Otto's life.

This is the beginning of a very interesting romance. Being on Mallorca opens the door to some facts about Cortez that few know and Kensington discovers she wants a lot more than security from him.

Full of twists, turns, suspense, intrigue and sizzling heat, I couldn't put this book down.

Riled is book four in The Invincibles series. Cortez DeLeon (Rile) founder of The invincible Intelligence and Security group. Rile has been personally summoned by the Queen to retrieve and protect Kensington Whitby. Rile and Kensington are immediately attracted to each other, but Rile fights their attraction he’s not willing to take the chance on love. I found it very difficult to put this book down as with the other three in this series. This author is one of my favorite. Another great book in the Invincibles series!
Riled is the story of Cortez (aka Rile), a founding partner in the Invincibles private security firm, and Kensington, a great-niece to a reigning monarch. They meet when it is reported that Kensington has been kidnapped and Rile is hired to find her and protect her. With her safety at stake, Rile puts together a security detail and whisks her away from a dangerous situation to his home in Mallorca.
This book is a steamy romance with enough suspense to keep the reader guessing. Well, okay, you know there is going to be an HEA ending but you won't know how it will happen! This novel also dabbles in a little "woo-woo" which I loved. There is steamy romance so this book is intended for mature readers. However, that being said, the sexual content does not drive the plot. The storyline is strong enough to carry the reader all the way to the end of the book. With fabulous characters and their connections to various royal, this story is sure to please even the most finicky reader!

This is Book 4 of The Invincibles Series.

This is the story of Rile & Kensington. Rile is a partner and founder of Invincible Intelligence and Security Group (Invincibles). Kensington is related to royalty, but her grandparents raised her. Rile and Kensington are attracted to each other, even though he's ten years older than she is. She's always liked a bit older men. Is he too old for her? They both have what's known as highly attuned intuition. Oh, his past is such a big part of who he is now. He can't let go, although the attraction to Kensington is overwhelming. Kensington is also a mission of his because she's in danger. I couldn't put this one down either. These characters are so unique. This book has such a good storyline. There are ups and downs, and a plot to to unfold. Heather Slade puts everything in perspective in her writing. Kudos Heather Slade for another great book.

I love this series and this one left me breathless and wanting more. Cortez or code name Rile, the founder of the Invincible’s is asked by the Queen to fInd her great great niece, discreetly of course. She fears she has been kidnapped. When Grinder and Rile locate her, they rescue her from Konstantine, who tells her they are to be married the next day as he attempts to rape her. Determined to keep her safe, he takes her to his home on an island and the attraction between the two is undeniable. Heather does an excellent job with the well written storyline that keeps you turning g page after page. The characters are wonderful, captivating and exciting. Rile is unflappable and always in control. Kenzie’s character grows throughout the story . It’s an emotional read with suspense, ups and downs, twists and turns and hot chemistry. Can’t wait for the next book in this series. Loved it!

The Queen of England contacts Cortez 'Rile' DeLÉon who is the founder of The invincible Intelligence and Security group to find her great-great niece, Kensington. She was last seen with Konstantine who is heir to the former Austro-Hungarian throne. After they rescue her from Konstantine she is sent to America to live with her mother. But when Kensington over hears a conversation between Konstantine and her mother she contacts Cortez. Kensington and Cortez have an immediate attraction but Cortez fights their attraction because of their age difference and his past. When Cortez decides it would be best to let Kensington go, he inadvertently put her in danger. Will he be able to save her before it's to late?
This was a well-written story with great characters and an interesting storyline. There was plenty of suspense, intrigue, twists/turns and steam.

Riled is an extraordinary romantic suspense by Heather Slade. Ms. Slade has put together a well-written book and filled it with a spectacular array of characters. Cortez and friends created and manage the Invincibles, a collection of ex-government agency operatives. When the Queen of England asks for a favor he can hardly refuse. Kensington has managed to get herself into a bit of trouble and is being choked when Cortez gets to her. Cortez and Kensington's story is packed with drama, humor, sexy bits, action, a dash of supernatural and suspense. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it's written in first person, alternating point of view...my least favorite format. It worked better in this book than others I've read...but still not a fan. I enjoyed reading Riled and look forward to reading more from Heather Slade soon. Riled is book 4 of The Invincibles but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

This is not your average romance! This author combines the best of spy novel, mystery and romance in to this story! Get ready for a heart pounding read!
Danger and intrigue abound as Rile and his team work to keep Kensington safe while trying to figure out who poses a threat to her, and why. Rile doesn’t believe he can ever love again, but sometimes fate and a matchmaking royal matriarch have other ideas.
I love the interplay between the characters! We get to reconnect with some old friends and discover new ones. Heather Slade manages to weave this story seamlessly into the fabric of her ongoing series while making sure the reader could read it as a stand-alone.

Warning... like excellent chocolate, you want be able to stop with just one, you will want to read everything she writes.

I simply adore this author. Her books can be read as stand alones or as a series. This book has characters who are compelling, interesting, flawed, hopeful and lovable. The conflict and passion between Rile & Kensington is smoldering. Both have hopes, dreams and goals they are uncertain can be attained. Both fear really being vulnerable; Rile more so than Kensington. Being protected from a crazy suitor is both the best & hardest experience of Kensington’s life. She fights for what she wants but realizes, eventually, that she must let him make his own choices. Having the intuitive angle makes it even more complicated. This book introduces a plethora of additional characters. I hope each one gets their own book

This is book 4 in the Invincible series and my favorite Heather Slade book. Cortez DeLeon (Rile) is founder of The Invincible Intelligence and Security group, has been asked by the Queen to rescue and protect Kensington Whitby. Cortez and Kensington have instant attraction. Cortez resists this attraction for two reasons, one is the 10 year age difference and secondly he has had a great loss in his past and will not risk love and loss again..
Kensington, an old soul raised by her grand parents has always preferred older men and feels like she has no direction.
This story has is all : love, danger, mystery, high emotions and self discovery. Great characters throughout the story.. Well done Heather!!

Heather Slade has drop some hints here and there in previous Invincibles books about Rile's special gifts. It made him intriguing an a bit mysterious. Now in Code Name Rile we get to see the full extent of what he can do. But it's not just him. Rile and Kensington have much in common despite their age difference. They're both closely related to to monarchies and both are wealthy. Rile has suffered a great loss and because of hat becoming involved with anyone is a non-starter except Kenz tests his resolve at every turn after he rescues her from a dangerous situation. She's always been a rather free spirit drifting through life with no real purpose but now she's under Rile's protection it chases somewhat but also makes her feel safe, protected and loved. Despite him continuously trying to push her away, the draw and bond is too strong between them.

There's so much more to him than we knew for sure but now we find out what. When hes called into action by the Queen this royal who's been dealt a harsh blow gets another one. She was just trying to get away and had no clue that accepting an invitation would put her in jeopardy. Through chance and circumstance two people suffering in their own way end p challenging, tormenting and changing each other as only they can do. In this emotional heart wrenching read the choices that have to be made aren't easy but will require more than they ever imagined. They may have tons of chemistry but what good is that when heart and head aren't in the same space. I can't tell you how many times this had me deep sighing and holding my heart.

Riled by Heather Slade is another great story added to The Invincibles series. This is a story with action, drama, friendships and some love. This is book 4 in the series and for me I absolutely loved this story just a bit more. The characters are well developed, they are ruggedly handsome Rile who is doing a favor for the Queen but is finding a bit frustrating dealing with the sexy young woman he is protecting. Kensington is the young woman who has found herself in a situation and needing his protection but who says she can’t have a bit of fun tempting her protector. That is just a taste of what is in store for a fun and exciting story. I absolutely recommend this great book. I absolutely can’t wait for more from this great author and this series.

Just finished Riled. OMG --- WOW! What a great book! Cortez ‘Rile’ DeLeon, one of the founding members of the Invincibles and a royal in his own right, has been requested by the Queen to quietly rescue her great niece Kensington Whitby and provide protection for her. Rile feels an immediate connection with Kensington, but he is closed off and unable to open his heart to Kensington. He has some baggage that keep him from opening to Kensington. Plus, he has a secret that is a bit surprising. These two are smoking hot in this tale of suspense, roy-als, secrets and love. Soon they open up to each other, at least in part. Saying too much would give away too many twists and surprises in this wonderful story, so I will only say - WOW, I LOVED IT! Definitely need to get this one!

This story had a good amount of action with a crazy royal obsessed with Kensington and Cortez and his team working to protect her. I loved his island escape house. I thought it was cool that he had a secret sixth sense power that allowed him to know what someone was thinking. There were other paranormal elements in his conversations with his deceased wife and his visions. He kept letting the age difference and that he didn’t think he could love again get in the way of his romantic relationship with Kensington. She was silly at first putting herself in bad situations because she was bored. But she found purpose and became more serious. I didn’t care for the rough dominating love play. This was a very steamy romance with funny, sad, and intense moments.

Every book I read by Ms Slade I'm sure is her best yet, until I read her next one. This is an older man younger woman scenario, and since my husband is almost ten years older than me, I can identify with the characters. Kensington has always been attracted to older men, so when she is rescued from a would be rapist by Cortez, she is immediately drawn to him. Cortez feels the same but resists due to the age difference. I really loved the characters. Cortez is vastly wealthy but still leads the Invincibles, which he founded. He's worldly but gentle and protective. Kensington is young and naive but growing up fast due to the danger she finds herself in. The story is fabulous and complex. Altogether a wonderful book and, need I say it, possibly her best yet!!!

Twist, turns, up, downs...all make up what I loved about Riled. Rile and Kens love story has it all. Rile is a little different than most with his extra/sixth sense that he inherited from his mother. Poor Kens did not have the best parents and was actually raised by her grandparents. Rile was convinced that their age gap would exclude having any kind of a relationship with Kens but after spending time together they quickly realize they can’t fight what they feel. Of course that is not the end. Like I mentioned before twist turns, and surprises make up this love story. You will have to read it to find out what happens along the way! I highly recommend Riled!
