Succession of the Temple
I’m loving watching Ani and Nik, and even Matia, grow into their positions and powers. I felt like this book really dug into the meat of who Ani is as a person and priestess and how the people closest to her are able to love and support her in those roles. I’m also becoming more and more curious to learn what Matia’s affection and connection to Nik is going to mean in the future, because I feel like it’s going to be something important.
Festival Of The Blessed
As I get deeper into this series, I’m realizing how much I enjoy watching Ani, Nik, and Matia simply going about their day-to-day lives and learning more about the world they live in. They have days that are filled with excitement and adventure as well as the sweet ones where they can simply relax into being together and doing jobs they love. However, there’s a Wind of Change blowing hard into their lives and I’m very much looking forward to seeing what will come of it.
Death Of The Pharaoh
Ani’s life is becoming complicated in ways she never anticipated and certainly never wanted. Her presence among them is a reminder that the Blessed of Anubis can be both young and female, much to the horror of the traditionalists in the priesthood. Her habit of stepping up to make sure things get done is being noticed, but she’s not sure yet if that’s a blessing or a curse. She’s also caught the attention of another member of the late Pharoh’s family, and Ani has no idea what to make of that situation. Where this book leaves off, makes me very eager to get my hands on the next installment of Ani, Nik, and Matia’s adventures.

Book 7:
With the audit finally at an end and things returning to a somewhat normal state in the Temple it’s time to turn to the future. Specifically who will be the next High Priest not only of the Temple in London but representing the British Isles as well. As the only blessed in the country it is Ani’s duty to oversee the elections a job she is looking forward to not at all. It is her duty and she is not one to shirk responsibility. Lightening her burden are friends and of course Nik and Matia. Training and elections are the talk of London who will win and how will the change the Temple?
An excellent wrap up of the previous stories plot arc and lead into the next part of Ani’s journey. I love the group that she’s surrounded herself with they’ve grown together and it was lovely to have them be a bit more present in this story. A sweet cameo from her Blessed mentor to help ease her worries. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what else is in store in this very unique and exciting world.

Book 8:
Ani, Nik, Matia and the rest of the London Temple of Anubis are back! It’s time to celebrate its time for the Festival of the Blessed. For Ani her nerves are up as it’s her first festival and there are a host of new duties she must attend to in addition to her normal work as a priestess. Worst of all she must socialize! Turns out once she gets past her initial nerves she finds she has some friends among the other gods’ blessed and she really does belong.
This was a very fun book! There was so much going on both personally and professionally for Ani. The festival was all the pomp and circumstance that you’d expect with the added bonus of Egyptian mythology as the theme. I really enjoyed that most of the book took place outside of the temple and we got a sense of the power and breadth of the blessed. The complexity and intricacies of each god or goddess and some of their aspects and responsibilities on display was amazing. If you’re an Egyptian mythology fan you’ll geek out over this book and the care the author takes in representing the individual gods. I absolutely loved the big steps taken by Ani and Nik in their personal relationship. I look back at the previous books and it’s a wonder so much has happened to these two and the grace and maturity in which they persevered together. Im excited to see what happens next even more so with that news bomb dropped at the end!!
TLDR? Simply put this is an awesome series I absolutely love it and highly recommend you read it!!

Book9:
The Pharaoh has died and all the Blessed of Anubis are called to Egypt. They are to perform the rites to ease his passing into the afterlife. For the first time Ani will be around other Anubis Blessed besides her mentor. Though a great tragedy in the loss of a leader, a husband, a father it’s also an opportunity for Ani to grow into her role and learn about and navigate the politics of the capital.
A new side to Ani emerges or maybe one we’re not used to seeing in London as she’s more relaxed there. In Egypt she’s surprised to be one of the more experienced Blessed even though she’s one of the youngest. As such she takes charge when the younger priests have a task to accomplish and orders it quite nicely. While I enjoy the relationship between her and Nik it was nice to see Ani stand on her own for a bit. A teeny bit of overlap if you read Crown of Grief the story of the pharaoh’s death from the perspective of his daughter and successor Iset. I very much enjoyed the continuation of Ani’s story. I love the world building, the characters and the blend of mythology with modernity.

Promotion and Friendships

I really enjoyed reading these books. In a different world, the Egyptians over took the Romans and their empire now runs a lot of the world. This series is set in London with temples running different parts of the city.
The characters are well written and I liked reading about Ani and Nik’s developing relationship and the humour throughout the books. I enjoyed these as it’s interesting to read about the different parts of Egyptian culture but in the UK in a modern setting.

Book 7: Succession Of The Temple
Following the auditing of the temple of Anubis they can start recruiting and promoting again, and this includes Ani, Nik and their friends. There is also going to be an election for a new Hight Priest (for the whole of the UK) and Ani discovers that she’ll have to preside over this as the only Blessed of Anubis in the UK.
Ani’s learning how things are more different for her, as a Blessed, than the other priests; but has Nik as her assistant which helps her not miss anything.

Book 8: Festival Of The Blessed
Ani, Nik and their friends are settling into their new roles within the temple, with Ani and Nik working/training in traditional mummification. As well as working more with Hori, the High Priest, Ani also needs to prepare for and participate in the 10-day Festival of the Blessed (which takes place every 5 years, though no one from their temple has been in it for 20 years).
This gets her out of the temple, and her comfort zone, much more. As well as the parade, there are feasts just for the Blessed and other events, but these get her talking more to other Blessed priests. It was great to see Taia again and how Ani is building friendships with her and others.

Book 9: Death Of The Pharaoh
Ani and Matia have gone to Egypt to work with all the other Anubis Blessed (216) in preparing the Pharaoh for his burial. She finds there are new politics to learn while amongst the others and is pleased when Nik is able to join her.
As one of the most experienced in traditional mummification she ends up taking charge with the preparations and makes friends with some of them. She also befriends Princess Iset (linking to “Crown of Grief”).

The characters are well written and I liked reading about Ani and Nik seeing Egypt and the humour throughout the book.

The Apprentice of Anubis Volume 3: Books 7-9 by Laura Greenwood is a dazzling trilogy that will leave you yearning for more of Ani and Nik's adventures. Here's a taste of what each book has to offer:

Succession of the Temple
With Ma’at's audit finally over and the decision about the new situation of the London Temple in, you'd think Ani and Nik could enjoy some peace. But no, Ani's not one to sit and wait. As the only Anubis Blessed in the British Isles, she's thrust into overseeing the election of the New High Priest and acting as interim. Dive into temple politics and all its convolutions, with Ms. Greenwood crafting a hilarious, easy-to-read story filled with funny moments. She masterfully delves into the characters' emotions, growth, fears, and contradictions. It's a fantastic step forward in an already stellar series.

Festival of the Blessed
Our beloved Ani is now overseeing the quinquennial Festival of the Blessed, while finally attending classes for her specialization in traditional mummification. With Nik by her side, they navigate new friendships outside their temple and take steps forward in their personal relationship. Greenwood's style shines through, with each scene vividly detailed and immersive. Even without venturing far from their environment, every book in this series feels like a new adventure, always leaving the reader eager for more.

Death of the Pharaoh
Alright, let's be real: what were the odds that our young Priestess would be called to oversee the burial preparation for a middle-aged but still vibrant Pharaoh? Slim to none, right? But this is Laura Greenwood we're talking about! Ani and Nik are off to Egypt because, surprise, the Pharaoh is dead. This book is an emotional rollercoaster, showcasing Ani's strength as an unconventional woman in a man's world. Greenwood is on a mission to shatter conventions and traditions, creating a heroine who confronts uncertainties, insecurities, and criticisms head-on. Ani never sacrifices her relationship with Nik, no matter the odds.

In Volume 3, Greenwood continues to break barriers, presenting a heroine who is unapologetically herself in a society full of expectations. Another outstanding instalment in "The Apprentice of Anubis" series. 100% recommended!

Review for all 3 books in the box set:

7. Succession of the Temple
Very enjoyable installment in the series as Ani learns what it takes to preside over the election of the new High Priest of the Temple of Anubis in London. She's fun to read about as she struggles with her new level of responsibility and how to remain impartial. It's great to see that she has a supportive group of friends always willing to help her out and not let he get too full of herself as well.

8. Festival of the Blessed
Good installment in the series. I really liked the different types of priestesses and Blessed that we were introduced to from the different temples. The conversations Ani and Nik having about their progressing relationship and living arrangements are very realistically done. And the ending...Ani will have to travel again.

9. Death of the Pharaoh
Wonderful installment in the series, my favorite so far! I loved reading about the visual descriptions of the Temple of Anubis in Egypt, and the large statues, etc. It felt very immersive. Crown Princess / new Pharaoh Iset is a great addition to the cast of characters. I hope we get to read more about her and her new position as the Pharaoh now that her father has passed away. And we have the very tiny, teasing return of Prince Ramesses...with more to come in the next book as well. I continue to enjoy how comfortable and trusting Ani and Nik are in their relationship, it's so nice to read about a successful, happy couple.

Book 7: Succession of the Temple - 5 stars
Election Time

As a blessed priestess of Anubis Ani has a new responsibility to help organize the election for a new high priest. The craziness of the event and those in the running leaving gifts cause Ani to stress out until Nik offers to ease some of the burden. Their relationship was sweet and continues to deepen which was fantastic to read.

Book 8: Festival Of the Blessed - 5 stars
Blessed One Expectations

Ani is trying to adjust to life as a Blessed priestess for the whole of the UK as the Festival of the Blessed has arrived. Not only does she need to navigate through her normal duties, but she is now expected to socialize and perform tasks of a blessed one. While there wasn't a mystery to solve in this story, the reader is getting to know about the growth of Ani, her expectations as a blessed priestess and her relationship with Nik. Every aspect of her life is getting more serious, and it was fun to read.

Book 9: Death Of the Pharaoh - 5 stars
Temple Politics of Egypt

Ani and her jackal Matia have been called to Egypt to assist with preparations for the pharaohs journey to the afterlife. However, she is no longer the only blessed of Anubis present and the politics of this larger temple is overwhelming. I loved how Nik came just in time and that she develops new friendships despite those who resent her presence there.

Succession of the Temple - Ani despises paperwork and would much rather work in a mortuary. However, when she is tasked with overseeing the upcoming High Priest election, she begins to question her own divine status. Eventually, she comes to realize that Nik is an excellent assistant.
Festival of the Blessed - Now that Hori is the High Priest of the London Temple, things are getting back to normal with the number of people that have been hired to fill vacancies. Now Ani has to figure out what she is supposed to do during the Festival of the Blessed.
Death of the Pharaoh - Although the mummification of the Pharaoh is a lengthy process, Ani and Nik are able to spend quality time with each other and Matia. Ani also impresses the under-30 Blessed Priests of Anubis with her vast knowledge.
These three quick reads include the shortcomings of humanity, action, and romance, each ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

The Apprentice Of Anubis Volume 3 (Books 7-9) by Laura Greenwood is an Egyptian mythology paranormal romance novel. This is such a fascinating series and I love having it in box set form so you get more all at once. I find the mix of what could have been and Egyptian culture so fascinating.
Book 7: Succession of the Temple~Ani as High Priestess has to help organize the election for a new High Priest. It of course is stressful but her relationship with Nik grows.
Book 8: Festival Of the Blessed~The Festival of the Blessed Priestess is here. Between that, normal work and private life there is a lot to do. This is a book to watch the growth of characters and to understand the culture better.
Book 9: Death Of the Pharaoh~All about the politics as she has to assist to assist in sending a Pharaoh to the afterlife. Nothing is ever easy.
I really enjoyed this series as always. It is so interesting.

Succession of the Temple (7)
I do love these books. They give you an insight to someone who will be a great Blessed One as she matures. Her devotion to Anubis and the work that they perform. I enjoyed this one and can't wait for the next.
Festival of the Blessed (8)
The festival is like most religious holidays. A lot of being seen and being there for the public to see you. Ten days of things that you have to be there for. The ending is the most strange of all. Very good story.
Death of the Pharaoh (9)
The emotional things that Ani go through sometimes surprise me. I can understand why most mortician's don't want to be center stage. I think that Ani does more and should be center stage sometimes. Very good story.

This box set contains the compilation of 3 previously released books - Succession of the Temple, Festival of the Blessed, and Death of the Pharoah. The stories contain the continuation of the story of Ani and Nik, as Ani continues to deal with temple politics in the appointment of a new high priest, her new role as Blessed of Anubis at the Festival of the Blessed, and her attendance in Egypt at the death of the Pharoah. As usual, these books provide a fascinating view of how Egypt might have developed in a different timeline. The characters, Ani and Nik, are very likeable, and Ani's jackal, Matia, is sweet. If you are interested in ancient Egypt, you will enjoy reading this series! I received an ARC copy, but the opinions expressed are solely my own.

The Apprentice Of Anubis series continues and Ani is the temp High Priestess overseeing the succession of the new High Priest at London Temple of Anubis. Ani just wants to go back to the mortuary and finish her training and not deal with temple politics! It's so great to watch Ani grow into the person she's supposed to be and see her and Nik's romance continue to grow deeper. I absolutely love watching Ani learn, grow and how she loves working with the dead, it's a bit morbid but it is what it is and it's a great series. I also like the new characters being introduced and revisiting the older ones.

This is a collection of books 7-9 in this paranormal series with an Ancient Egypt theme in the modern world. The books are best read in order, so pick up the previous collection before starting this one.

The stories are well written, easy to read and filled with bits of humor that help keep things occasionally lighten the mood. Both the characters and setting are well developed and fun. I have to admit that I liked the setting so much that it occasionally distracted me from the action itself. Overall, a great series and this collection provides a great continuation.

Highly recommended.

Ani is growing into her responsibilities kicking and screaming. Nik is a great partner for her and is a perfect assistant. He knows the history and politics and is significantly more organized than Ani. She seems constantly a bit overwhelmed and a little confused about why people look to her. It's amusing how often others have to remind her of her status as blessed.

I love her little family with Nik and Matia, they are so cute. And I never would have seen how well/fast they are settling in with how slow the friendship to romance started.

Things are getting serious between Ani and Nik. In this set Nik is now her assistant and they are looking for their own house to live in. Ani must also hold the election for the High Priest, had to laugh over some of the gifts she gets. The last book Ani must to to Cairo to help with the Pharaoh’s burial. Ani meets Iset and becomes her friend. Ani is moving up in the world and making friends in high places. I enjoy this series and see what these two get up to. I would recommend reading this box set.

Bring On More Ani!
Okay I’m beyond addicted to this series. Volume 3 boxset is perfect to read the next three in Ani’s journey. If you read the first 6 books you must have the next set; books 7-9. I was able to read these individually and I’m in love with this series. Murder. Mystery. Romance. Espionage. Suspense. This next set will only enable the thirst for more. The authors blurb about this make believe world is written in all her books because it is fiction. I highly recommend this series.
