This book was originally written to be the sequel to Fallen Crest High. It was scrapped and not used. Fallen Crest Family was written instead as the number two book in the Fallen Crest Series. However; this version was posted on the author's page for free reading as a thank you to her readers. After reading what she posted, enough fans requested this story to be published so here it is. This book is not meant to be promoted or a part of the Fallen Crest Series. It has been published at the readers' requests and it is for them to enjoy. With all this said, please enjoy. The original chapters are still posted for free reading.
I love the published FALLEN CREST FAMILY, but this one was a good read. The alternative version was very different from FALLEN CREST FAMILY, but it was still interesting. I love Sam, Mason, and Logan so anything that has these characters I am going to read and love. As long as these two men continue to love and be all protective of Sam, they really can do no wrong.
If you love the Fallen Crest series, I highly recommend this. If you have not started the Fallen Crest series, I recommend you read it.
Note to Tijan: I miss Rex. I want Rex written in book 4 if that is possible.
Loved it :D It's a shame about Emily not being in FCF though cos I loved her in this book and I have some strange idea that her and Logan would make a good couple ...
I'm kind of glad Tijan went with FCF though I think , though I'm pretty sure that's because in this Logan's feelings are 'dealt with' whereas right now there's a lot of anxiety over the subject ...
The Fallen Crest books are like junk food: so good, yet so bad for you... but you just can't get enough.
No matter what happens with this series, I think I will always love it.
I'm really glad that Tijan scrapped this version of the book, and wrote Fallen Crest Family instead. Even though that story line was f*cked up and full of drama, I think it was better than this.
I don't know. There were parts of the Alternate Version that was kind of awkward, and some parts of the story line didn't flow.
But really - this was great. I loved how everything was kind of... low-keyed. There wasn't as much drama and you also got to meet a lot of new characters that aren't in the official published books.
And the bomb was also dropped in this version.
I can never get enough of the Kade brothers - they're just amazing.
And I really can't wait to read more from Tijan, and the fourth book of the series!
The alternate version didn't slow down on already existing angst looming around in the air...since the things were already familiar to me, the story, the guys - Mason and Logan were intense as always, Sam was confused and fucked up as before BUT she needed to wake up already...all those crazy bitches and elites and snobish groups...
so maybe I had hopes that had no place in this book and maybe I just need to hols my horses and wait for the Fallen Crest University (#5) to come out...LOL maybe I'll get my answers there...
Tijan can sure as hell write drama with angst, again I feel lucky not having my teen years ripped up by this kind of angsty, fucked up shit...LOL
Very different then the published 2nd book in series (fallen crest family) I recommend reading the complete series first then reading this alternate version. I love this series and have read it many times. This alternate version of book 2 was great! I loved reading a totally different version of the story. A lot of drama and angst and love like in the original one but very different scenarios and outcomes. Love all these characters and I’m sure I will continue to read this series several more times. If you love this series you should read this to see how the author made different choices and events for Sam, Mason, Logan
Let's just say I'm happy with the story line she went with. Although this book had some really good parts, it kinda felt like a big mess to me. I'm happy that she took some parts of this book and incorporated it into her actual book series, but other than that this book was okay. Sam, I felt, was way to emotional and kinda turning fake by interacting with kids who once screwed her over. I liked the Sam from the first book, who didn't give a rats ass about anything. This Sam was completely different from that. She cried, vomited and was way too concerned with everything. Mason showed more of his caring and loving side. I don't know, I can never picture Mason bending over and laughing, chucking? Yes. But actually full out laughing?? Hell no. Logan seemed a bit more wild than usual which is also good and bad, some parts of the book I was like really?? Even though this book was not the one that made it into the series, I still thought it was pretty good, but not the greatest she has ever written.
An alternative version to an already great book, I just couldn't pass it. Even though I read it chapter by chapter on Facebook, I really enjoyed this version. Of course, it takes a totally different way after Mason and Sam's relationship comes out. The dynamic between the families and adults (if you can call them adults...) is taking a bigger place here. It shows how fast a messed up situation can degenerate. As for Sam and Mason, I just love them, they are perfect together, so full of life and passion, you forget they are only 18. I wish we can have a later book on their adult life, I am sure it could be quite interesting. Logan and the rest of the side characters also play a big part, some you want to kiss, some you want to hit (most of them actually haha). Anyway, just thanks for this bonus story while we are all anxiously wanting for the 4th Fallen book!
Love the Alternate version but i am so glade that this was originally scrapped and she continued the story like she did. I absolutely love Tijans writing so of course it was so awesome that she finished this and published it. She is truly awesome and gives more than most to her fans. :)
This was reviewed about 2yrs ago, I don't know where it went, but it's causing me to do a re-read, so yay!....lol
I remember this series as my guily pleasure read of the year! I devoured this one, and the next and the next, till I read them all. I was amazed at how much I loved all the teenage drama and how invested I got in the love triangles. I highly recommend this entire series! This was so enjoyable that we needed it published for the world to read!
Tijan makes stories that you can't help but read. I mean, after reading book 1 of this series I could not stop. I kept reading and wanting more. The stories she have written are enticing, captivating and remarkably fascinating. This series just keeps getting better and better.
Yes, the title is correct. This is an ALTERNATE VERSION and if you happen to read this series then you'd be glad she published this one. Or not. It really depends but I think I prefer this version. Why? Because it somehow answered the question I have after reading the original version. I am all for Mason and Sam, believe me I am and if it were up to me book 4 will have more drama between Sam and Mason. When it comes to these two, I am a bit of a masochist. I wanna see em fight for their love and see it be tested. And in this book, I kinda got a glimpse of that. Hey, I know their lives has been full of drama and pain especially for Sam but I can;t help it, I want more. Hahahahahaha I'm sorry, I just want to read their story that includes break-up, groveling and then make-up sex. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Tijan knows how to write one steamy scene. Believe me. And it's both mind-blowing and full of love. Sam and Mason have that ya know. It's so out there you feel it while reading every scene.
This alternate version will give you the part where Logan and his 'feelings' are revealed and it was confronted. In the original book (I think) it was left out or a bit of a cliffhanger but with this, you get the answers. I really think fans of the series and original version will love this book. It will leave you satisfied even. Or not. But I loved it so...
I am really looking forward to reading Fallen Forth Down. :)
“So you’re assuming two very hot and very alpha guys won’t be able to figure their own shit out because of your mere presence?” - Emily to Sam. Of course, she does. She is the f#@#@ center of the world, how dare someone think otherwise, duhh!
I won't talk about what goes on in the book, because as we already know this is just an alternative version and if you are a Tijan fan you know what happened in the first three books and that we are waiting on the 4th one. The main reason for me to be writing something about this book is that it cemented something I have been feeling since book number 2.
I can't stand Sam. She entertains me, but only because I can detach myself from the story and know that thankfully I don't know anyone as self-centered, selfish and depressive. This girls has problems, but the worst of it is that she doesn't do a thing to get over them. She just whines, gets in trouble that other people has to sort out and feels above anyone else on the friendship department when the truth is she has the friends she deserves. They are just as self centered, selfish and manipulative as she is... Doesn't see use being a elite member when it suits her to be protected in the school? She doesn't like the elite team but she goes to lunch with them without problem until it comes her time to pay the bill. Could there be something more ridiculous than this?
Don't get me wrong, I am still reading the next book but book after book I see a character I praised on the first book for being someone interesting diluting. And it annoys me and makes me sad!
Up until yesterday, I had read all of the published Fallen Crest books, except for this alternative version of book 2. After reading it, I admit that I am glad Tijan decided to scrap this one because I definitely preferred Fallen Crest Family. There were certain threads of the story that stayed the same (Miranda was used by Logan, Adam is a bit of a douchebag to Sam etc.) but there were a lot of things that were very different, for example Sam and Mason discuss Logan's feelings for her, which in the published books only happens in book 3 (that's pretty much what the entire book is revolves around). However, I'm still glad that I took the time to read this alternative version because it was still enjoyable.
I just love Mason and Sam. They are so good for each other. They are one of my favorite book couples, so I am always happy to read about them...
...but in this version I felt like there was a bit of a distance between them that there wasn't in the published book 2. Sam seemed a lot more aggressive in general in this book. She's always ready to smack-down with somebody.
The book can pretty much be summed up like this: everybody is annoyed with Adam, Sam fights with the Elite, Sam fights with Kate and her gang, Adam continues to be a douchebag, Sam and Mason deal with Logan's feelings for her. The end.
I would only recommend reading this book if you have already read book 2 (Fallen Crest Family) and book 3 (Fallen Crest Public).
I love this series so of course I had to read the alternate version just to see what could have been. It wasn’t bad but it was VERY different. The personalities in my opinion weren’t even the same, it was like they all changed and became different people. Looking at this book as totally separate from the rest of the series it is good and there are definitely things that I think would have been good if added to the fallen crest family but I’m so so glad she went with the book she did and scrapped this and just made it an alternate version. In this version heather and her bar are never even mentioned and I feel like that was such a big part of the other book and just made it that much better. Made it more “real” more relatable in a way. This one just didn’t have as much depth to me and was more superficial. Focused more on the elite group. This one took me a lot longer to get through than normal and I think it’s just because it’s not the book that was meant to be. It was good and I did enjoy the read but I wouldn’t say it’s a must read for me.
There are things about this story that I liked better than the official published version, like getting to something about Garrett and Becky's boyfriend. Rex was a hoot!
There were other things that didn't make sense, one of them being the 180 in Samantha's personality. To me, a great deal of her appeal to both Mason and Logan was that she wasn't trying to use them to climb up the social ladder. For her to enjoy belonging to the 'Elite' didn't make sense. I didn't like Milinda in this book either. To me she was the mom we all wish we had, or the mom we wish we could be. In this version she was borderline annoying. I liked Sam's 'mama drama' from FCF. It makes Sam make sense when we see what her mother is like.
All in all I'm glad FCF is the book that made the cut, though I appreciate the character insight that FCA offers.
Apparently I'm the only one who's outraged that this was once available for FREE on the authors LIVEJOURNAL! Yes..people are saying you could download the PDF version on her "website" the site..is live journal.
Where she also posted up (at one time) the whole entire fallen crest high book! Which then she took down because Amazon said she couldn't have it up on two places. WELL DUH!
I don't like the smell of this at all. To me it feels like she basically posted original fiction online, then "published" it on Amazon. That'd be like me writing and posting one of my original fictions online to like fiction press, then posting it on amazon to make money.
You can definitely see the similarities between this version and the official version//
It's amazing really, I never figured one storyline could be portrayed so differently. I'm glad she didn't go with this one though, just cos this one cuts of all the loose ends, and kinda ends everything. I want Logan to do something, not just ignore his feelings... but loved the part where she runs away and the boys reactions, that was great :D
Um, awesome!!! I'm so glad Tijan put this out, It was a really nice read.... if you do read this though, READ THE OFFICIAL STORY FIRST. Kinda obvious, but you kinda have to point it out.
I'm glad tijan went with the story line she did in the original book, I did like this book there were some good parts but I didn't like this version of Sam, she was over emotional and seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem, she hung out with people who screwed her over and hung out with people she hated where as in the original she wouldn't have done that, she seemed to always be getting in fights, I can only give this book 3 stars even though I enjoyed it I didn't enjoy it as much as the original
Don't know why but I freaking love tijan and this series even though this was an alternative version it was just as good and would still have worked really well if tijan hadn't of released fc family. Love mason and logan.
My two cents - I liked the other version better. I’m glad this was published as an alternative and not the official version that goes with the series.
When I started, I was thinking it was just going to be an alternative ending, so maybe just a couple chapters. But nope. This is a full story and vastly different from Fallen Crest Family.
Here’s why I didn’t love this one as much: - There was just too much Adam. I sort of felt like more time was given to Adam than Mason and that wasn’t good. Adam annoyed me. - I didn’t feel as strong of a connection between Sam and Mason in this book. Mason was downright swoony in the other book with how many times he was there for Sam when her mother was off the rails. I just didn’t get much of a swoony Mason in this book and that was kind of sad. - This didn’t have much of Analise at all. Therefore, when Sam was bitchy to her mom it kind of made Sam look like a bad daughter. So all the additional revelations in the other book were needed to get a good understanding of Sam’s relationship with her mom. - I liked that Garrett was brought into this story. But it ended kind of crappy for Sam. He really wasn’t a good dad. - The break up. Argh!! - The drama about Logan’s feelings irritated me - Most of the drama was around Sam’s Academy classmates. So it just felt quite repetitive and didn’t add any depth to Sam’s character.
I did like: - Becky’s boyfriend. Nice to see that she found someone. He is in the other book too so I’m glad his character was kept. - It was a different kind of drama between the two books. This one focused on Sam’s high school friends, the other focused on Sam’s relationship with her mother. I felt this drama was a little more low-key and I liked that just a little better. - I liked Malinda. It felt like she was accepting and good to Sam and she would be a good parental figure in Sam’s life.
Overall, this was a good story but it just didn’t quite measure up to the official one.
I enjoyed this version a lot! As a whole, a lot of what happened later on in the series was mostly covered in this version - so I completely understand why the author re-wrote this version. I prefer the Fallen Crest Family version, but this was a super interesting read to see what could have been. What I missed most was the introduction of Heather! Loved her story and her place in the FC series! I didn’t love how often Kate and Parker and their group were constantly around Mason, Logan, and Nate and their whole group! It was constant and annoying, and while Mason made it clear that he wasn’t into Kate - I still didn’t like it. I liked how in the series, the girls had their place in the high school hierarchy, but Mason and the guys outranked them. That didn’t happen here, the girls had equal hierarchy in this version, and it kept Logan and Nate busy trying to break up potential fights! What I did enjoy about this version was that Sam had absolute fire!!! She got up in people’s faces and wasn’t afraid to let them know, she could take care of herself! Kate and her group, and then the Academite girls, Sam let them all know, she didn’t need them and she was a badass all on her own! I loved that and wished it had carried over to the FCF book, but again, I loved the series - so I understand for long run purposes why the change had to happen. I have so many questions for what was planned with Garrett and why he seemed to be flirting with the Ms. Carmella at the Country Club when he was supposed to be getting back together with his wife. And the eating disorder that Sam’s mom seemed to have. I had so many questions and I loved this alternative version because it did make me curious, what if the series had taken this turn? Super interesting to see! Loved it!
After reading the entire series, I decided to read this alternative version. It takes place in Sam’s last year at FCA and the differences with the original version for example are that Garret is more present in Sam’s life, Annalise seems to be not so crazy, Kate hunts out more with the Kade brothers,Adam and Becky continue being friends with Sam... I liked the original version much more, but I never tire of reading about these characters,❤️them so much.
This book is not part of the series! This was intended to be the second book in the series but ended up being scrapped for Fallen Crest Family instead. The author published this at the request of her fans. One of the main things I liked about this book is that it allowed the readers to see how Sam interacts with the other adults in her life. I like seeing how each person handles raising Sam. They all could use some help in that area that’s for sure. Another thing I liked about this story was that Sam had a bit more of a backbone in this story then she does in Fallen Crest Family. She sure whines at times and says or does things that are stupid but at least she sort of stands up for herself. A good book that lets us enjoy our favorite people a bit more.
An interesting take on how the Fallen Crest Series could have went. I liked some parts of this book but prefer the final version.
In this version events move much quicker that in the series but not everything is dealt with in a complete way. A lot of the same issues were raised but the characters acted differently and there was not enough Sam, Mason and Logan. I also missed Heather. There was too much of the Elite but Becky was the same ( loyal to the wrong person).
Overall it was a good story but I cannot tell what my true opinion would have been if this was the only version.
