I adore this series that Ursa Dax has created with these fun alien cowboys and the human women who get to experience them. From bizarre misunderstandings (it was frostbite in book 1 and then snakebite in book 2) to cultural differences to that damn book on human women to the ease with which these precious, adorable cowboys fall in love, the humor and the feels just hit right for me. I enjoyed this just a smidge less than book 1, but I still inhaled it and it gave me the perfect dose of escapism and joy right as I was starting to feel sick.

Fallon (H) is a golden retriever in giant alien form and he has a sweet dog companion (I was so excited in the last book when I realized we'd be getting a cute animal sidekick in this one and Sora didn't disappoint). He's ecstatic about getting to meet his wife and ohhh when he lays eyes on her, she's instantly his whole world and he's over the moon for her. Darcy (h) is the opposite of Fallon, she's not a bright and cheerful person, definitely not someone excited about getting married either. But she's got some trauma surrounding what's expected of women/a wife she's still processing thanks to her upbringing. Thankfully she has Fallon who unknowingly constantly upends everything she thinks to expect just by being himself. Some of what he does that surprise her also comes back to the whole alien vs. human situation though.

Written in first person, dual POV (there's one POV from a side character too). No ow/om drama, h had some experience and H was inexperienced.

It did feel like despite Darcy's hesitations, these two had a fairly easy time falling into love. Not that I wanted them to suffer or fight, I think it just lacked some of the tension/stakes that I felt in book 1. Darcy being an animal person who never had the opportunity to revel in that was an interesting touch, esp with how some of that drive played out. She didn't always make the smartest choice, but I understood her motivations based on her character traits. Fallon's background was surprising to me but I did appreciate that his story was so different from Silar's.

The steamy times were still great and the unique anatomy once again baffles the human bride. I really hope someone warns Magnolia (the h for the next book) because someone needs a head's up lol. I still love how these guys' tails are such a natural extension of themselves and how their eyes give away when they feel strong emotions. Speaking of those white eyes, this book does feature more time with the side characters, including a couple whose eyes give away that they've got big feelings. Silar and Cherry are of course included and even though Cherry doesn't spoil a certain surprise for Darcy, she does try to give some assistance and pass along other info.

The ranching elements on this alien planet continue to also be incorporated in a great way that adds some drama and realism to their situation, while also opening the characters up to caretaking and bonding. I do hope that the next book won't have a third act appearance by someone from the past causing a disruption. Though in this case, Fallon getting to have a big speech moment and laying a set down on this particular person had me cheering. The story does end with Fallon and Darcy happily in love. I'm really hoping whenever we get the last book in the series, maybe we'll get a further out peek at all the couples' HEAs (babies, I want babies y'all, cute lil babies with tails toddling around some ranches).

HEA

The Cherry and Silar moments we got 🫶🏻💗

The MMCs have never been around humans, and they were barely around women that were their species, so everything is confusing and hilarious.

He sewed his own wedding suit so it could be similar to Earth weddings 🥹

He realized she was kind of like a cat (cute and skittish) so he did what he thought would make a cat love him to her. Treats, petting, etc. He called her his Little Cat 🤭

Darcy has had a hard and sad life, but seeing the unconditional love Fallon gave her was so heartwarming.

GARREK DID THE PRIDE & PREJUDICE HAND THING TO MAGNOLIA!! Is she going to get a story with him and not her arranged husband?!!

I like the plot of the last book better, and I feel like the MCs in the last book had better chemistry. I also really wanted an epilogue.

I still want to see some art of those ears. I NEED to know what they look like 🙂↕️

quotes:

There was a good chance I’d married a very nice, decent, dopey sort of ex-murderer alien who was apparently already halfway in love with me.

“Are you serious?”
“About my wife?” He replied without hesitation. “Always.”

“Never put you’re self in danger for me again. Storms. Rain. Darkness. None of it matters. None of it could keep me away. I’ll always come back to you, Darcy. Always.”

“Happiness does not begin to describe the way I feel. For the first time since I was a child, I look into my future and I see something worthwhile. I see something good. And it’s you.”

Frankly, I found it rather rude that he did not immediately go white-eyed and fall to his knees when confronted with my wife’s beauty for the first time.

”Can I touch your clitorosaurus?”
”Try again. Clit-or-us.”
“Clito…Clitoroni.”
😭✋🏻

”Being sent here saved my life. Marrying you completed it.”

“Let me look at you for a moment. I just want to look at my wife.”

“Every day I thank the sun for rising just so it can shine upon her. Simply to breathe the air beside her is something that I treasure and fight every moment to deserve. I do not care if you do not respect me. But you will respect my wife.”

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

I need this book more than I need air. I don’t know how much longer I can take!!

If you like your golden retriever husband and black cat wife trope served with a little sci-fi alien setting, this might be the next read for you! While I did read the first book of the series, Married to the Alien Cowboy and recommend it as a great entry to the series, I think a new reader could pick up this book just fine and understand the context clues for backstory.

Wrangled by the Alien Rancher is Fallon and Darcy's story, with Darcy entering the Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Bride program to escape a politically-motivated arranged marriage, and Fallon is just happy to have a wife.

Darcy is a hard nut to crack at first, due to a learned icy exterior from childhood, but it doesn't take long for the innocently endearing Fallon to get her to come out of her shell and reveal her soft underbelly. It was an interesting direction after having the first book have a grumpy, stoic alien MMC and more extroverted, quirky human FMC. As mentioned before, there's definitely a switch-up in this book, with Fallon being the more outwardly loveable one, pretty much half in-love with Darcy before he even met her, and Darcy the more closed-off one. Sometimes Fallon's 'golden retriever energy' was pushed a little far, but never enough to truly harm the story.

Lots of funny moments in this, especially while the MCs are first married and getting to know each other, and the others' customs and, heh, anatomy.

I really like how Ursa Dax is setting up this series; all books so far feel connected in universe, but each individual romance is centered around different offshoot plots that feel unique. For example, the first book had traditional grumpy MMC vs sunshine FMC, the second book had golden retriever MMC and black cat FMC energy, and Book 3 looks likes it's setting up a plot twist that, after a mishap resulting in delay of arrival, one bride may not end up with who she was originally officially paired with... I'm sensing an alien roadtrip romance!

My Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Brides series ratings:

#1 Married to the Alien Cowboy - 4✨
#2 Wrangled by the Alien Rancher - 4✨
#3 Resisting the Alien Rider - 3.75✨
#4 Wanted by the Alien Warden - TBD
#5 Married to the Alien Mountain Man - TBD

I liked this one just a tiny bit less than the last one. The MCs were likable and Fallon is indeed a golden retriever but I felt like there was more chemistry between Silar and Cherry and really loved their little appearances in this book. 🥰

This also had a bit more humor than I typically like in my romance but I think a friend here (Kristina) would get a kick out of the worm cock tail situation 🤭

It was still really enjoyable and I’ll be looking forward to the next one. ~

4☆ Adorable, despite the dicktacle / cock tail / venomous snake in the bed

Fallonnnnnn! Such a besotted golden retriever sweetheart. It’s not his fault he has a little extra surprise in his pants. 🤭🐍 Omg that sex injury scene tho. 🤣 I definitely enjoyed this sweet opposites-attract arranged alien marriage story, though maybe not quite as much as Book 1. The MCs’ dynamic was heartwarming and funny with all of the misunderstandings. Darcy did the interplanetary mail order bride thing to escape from her oppressive Stepford family, and is just starting to figure out who she is and what she wants.

➳❦ “I’m not skittish,” she protested. “I’m just… I’m just… reserved!”
“Yes. My reserved little cat.”
“Fallon!”
“Drink your tea, little cat.”
“Oh my God.”

Her ruffled, snarky, confused inner monologue was entertaining, though occasionally a smidge ovedone imo. I loved Sora, Fallon's sweet rescue hound, and the instant bond between the 3 of them. That scene in the storm won me over y’all. 🌊😮‍💨⚡️🩵 I also liked the Cherry/Silas cameos and funny comm tablet text chains.

➳❦ Darcy: Real talk. Is Silar super nice? Because Fallon is super fucking nice and I don’t know what to do about it.
Cherry: Fallon and Darcy, sitting in a shuttle. Kissing and smooching and having a nice cuddle. Fallon is paper and Darcy is rock. Fallon wants her to touch his…

They're such dorks, AKA relatable.🤭There were a few typos, nothing crazy. I’m looking forward to Magnolia and Garrick’s grumpy-sunshine roadtrip, and I hope the Warden gets a story too.

Ok, but how adorable is Fallon??? He was the ultimate golden retriever hubby and exactly what Darcy needed in her life. He was sooo excited to get married and so guileless. Darcy was jaded after a life with a narcissistic emotionally and psychologically abusive mother and rather unsure about any sort of marriage. She found a safe space in Fallon and gave him the affection and tenderness he’d been missing. I’m loving this penal colony planet and the men who would do anything to make their wives happy.

Spice: 4/5

Content Warnings: narcissistic parents/emotional abuse, parental abandonment, animal cruelty/abandonment (back story), loss of a pet (back story), grief, shame, internalized misogyny/strict gender roles, murder, childhood trauma, the youth justice system, predator attacks, danger, death, mentions of poison, graphic sexual scenes with a non-human hero, sexual assault (brief grabbing of heroine’s backside in her back story, not violent or on-page), near-drowning, hypothermia, injuries, blood, sutures.

i had high hopes for this book because i loved the first in the series so much, but unfortunately this one just did not hit the same 💔 i was excited to see the grumpy x golden retriever trope in the reverse (mmc is almost ALWAYS the grumpy one, because when it's the fmc, people tend to hate her for it), but darcy's personality did not deliver for me and neither did her backstory. this felt a lot more rushed than married to the alien cowboy, with only a loosely put together overarching narrative and next to no emotional payoff. 2.5/5 for me.

4 ⭐️ This series is so entertaining!!

I wanted to read this story since Fallon was introduced in book 1, and my, was I right about wanting more of him.

Fallon is the most golden retriever of them all, absolutely hoping and praying his wife falls for him as hard as he does for her. Darcy, however, had another idea when it came to marriage. And now marrying an alien she's never even seen before...

If there's one thing this series knows how to do is mix angst with comedy. The amount of things they don't understand about the other only makes them cuter together!

I will most definitely keep reading this series!!

🌶️🌶️.5/5 - Still stuck on the whole c*cktail thing, but in my mind is kind of cute lol.

Great books to read with your brain turned off. This is one of those "if you read one you read them all"... But I did read them all. So, that's that... Review to come with more details, or probably not because I forget about my Rtc very often! But the rec it's still here.

Cute, personal preference made it average

Mini review bombing warning, part 1/4: I'm in a weird apathetic mood and haven't been updating my reads, I'm just going to clog everyone's feed for a bit. Sorry 🙏

Just like the first book, the aliens in this series are just too adorable, with their colorful skin, massive bodies and adorable mouse ears that get sunburned.

I laughed out loud several times, but the heroine was just a smidge too prickly for me.

I wished there had been hybrid babies because to see these aliens fear hemorrhage from what amounts to a paper cut was so hilarious, I can't even begin to imagine how they would act with their own miniature hybrid babies.

Sadly, it seems this series is childfree and the one pregnancy story it has it's not the hero's baby, so I'm stopping here. However, this is really cute and funny. If you don't mind/prefer childfree story, I really recommend this series.

"There was a good chance I'd married a very nice, decent, dopey sort of ex-murderer alien who was apparently already halfway in love with me."

This book had me cracking up. Silar was a sweet, adorable, clueless alien but Fallon is just on a whole different level. Aliens misunderstanding humans will never not be funny to me and this book had it in spades. Poor Fallon...he tries his best though.

I felt bad for Darcy and the trauma she had to go through growing up but thankfully now she has the perfect alien husband to show her what love really is.

While I wait for the next book in the series I'm gonna cry because I won't ever have my own golden retriever alien cowboy husband.

“It’s perfect just the way it is.”

Wrangled by the Alien Rancher is the second book in the Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Brides series and it's somehow even funnier than the first one (which was already amazing)!

Darcy, a black cat bride is paired with Fallon, a cinnamon roll golden retriever alien who just wants to be loved 🥹 We see snippets of Fallon in Married to the Alien Cowboy but it did not prepare me for how unintentionally funny this man is.

My notes:
🤠 Zero 3rd act breakups here 🙅 Fallon and Darcy are simply the cutest together
🤠 "It is a good thing I have already removed all of my clothes. I am ready to put my skin on your skin". We love a caring king that ensures you don't get hypothermia 👏
🤠 Apparently my type is now himbo alien?
🤠 The one liners are a piece of art (much like the artwork that Fallon creates of his wife to appease his imagination)

Overall this book, along with the last one, is such a cute and lighthearted read that genuinely had me laughing out loud. I definitely recommend this series and now I'm so excited to continue!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Well, this was just as adorable as book one. Fallon is just the cutest, sweetest cowboy alien ever :) This story follows the same formula of human woman running away from troubles on her world and accepts proposal of marrying someone from another planet.

Fallon is instantly besotted with his mail assigned wife. He was in love before she even stepped on the planet, and works very hard to not totally overwhelm his very reserved wife. Poor Darcy does NOT know how to take her new husband. He's sweet and seems to have no desires other than to take care of her and honestly, it just freaks her out. These two are just the best. It was so fun to read, and there are some seriously laugh out loud/face palming moments here. I just can't wait for the next one in this series.
