The Dr Suess graphic novels (Green Eggs and Ham Take a Hike, Cat Out of Water, The Grinch Takes a Vacation) continue in this Cat in a Hat visit to the library to “help” his brother-sister duo finish their piles of homework before mom comes to get them. Problem is, he was banished from the library after his last visit. No problem, just pop out a few dozen Things, get some noise canceling headphones over the librarian’s ears and it’s off to visit the past, the future, do a little carpentry and housekeeping for extra credit in home economics and cause a few chocolate and marshmallow spewing volcanos to erupt!

I read the NetGalley digital arc to my 4 and 7 year old grandboys and both were laughing nonstop and very unhappy when I had to split our reading up into two bedtime sessions! The spirit of the original Cat in a Hat books is still there, lots of ridiculous assertions of near magical abilities and lots and lots of messes…all magically cleaned up with everything spic and spam by the time mom arrives. In this volume, Art Baltazar is back doing the illustrations and his work is bright, bold and filled with details and plenty of onomatopoeic words to have fun saying.

Excellent graphic novel choices for reading to or by kids aged 5-8ish. No profanity or sexual content and while there is certainly a lot of exploding, spilling, and breaking, no real violence and even the most impressionable child is sure to see how truly impossible all the fun really is.

Thanks for the digital arc, NetGalley.

Arthee "Art" Baltazar is an American comics artist and writer. The illustration in Dr. Seuss Graphic Novel: Thing One and Thing Two Have Homework to Do is so colorful and amazing. If there were no words the illustration alone would tell the whole story.

This is such a fun book to read. Imagine being at the Library and all of a sudden The Cat in the Hat shows up. We immediately know from experience that things are about to get interesting. Instead of doing their homework the children are being entertained by the shenanigans of The Cat. He brings out so many Things to cover ever subject in the book. Who needs to do their homework when you have Things One through Twenty Six to take care of it.

Reading with all the onomatopoeias is so much fun. I love sound effects. Best part is if you want to learn how to draw the characters at the end of the novel there is a drawing tutorial. Plus a sneak peek of The Grinch Takes a Vacation.

~Thank you NetGallery, Art Baltazar and Random House Children's Books | Random House Graphic for the ARC.

This was so, so cute! I haven’t read many graphic novels, so I was really excited to get the chance to read this.

Not only were the illustrations fabulous, but the story was adorable, too. I wish the Cat in the Hat would bring Things to come rescue me from my homework! (Even if he brings a little bit of a disaster in his wake)….

I think children and adults of all ages would enjoy this book. As an artist, I also loved the included how-to-draw the illustrated characters at the end of the book. It definitely makes this book unique and fun as not only a really great read, but a hands on art project and learning experience, too. This definitely inspires imagination - which is so important!

I look forward to recommending this to the families that I know, and I hope to see this on many library bookshelves!

Thank you NetGalley, Art Baltazar and Random House Children's Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a cute little Graphic Novel for young readers. Though the young reader is the target audience for me as an adult it also had some Nostalgia.

The kids are basically in the library when the cat in the hat comes in and brings his things and it's not just thing 1 and thing 2 this time . Anyways they are supposed to help with homework but end up doing way more then that.

This Graphic Novel could be enjoyed by older or younger depending on interests. It was an easy read in 1 sitting and even included some drawing instructions at the end.

Thank you #Netgalley , the author , illustrator and publisher for the advanced copy of this book.

This was another fun chapter book graphic novel featuring Cat in the Hat and all the Things. The illustrations were super fun and engaging and the story was fun to read about Sally and her brother getting the Things to help them with their mountain of homework and the chaos that ensues. I think I have read all the chapter book Seuss graphic novels and they are all just so fun and great for anyone who loves seuss.
Thanks to Random House Graphic and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

The cat in the hat makes for a great graphic novel. I love that this is a completely new story and not a graphic novelization of previous stories. It gives it a chance for this to live on its own. This book manages to combine both the heart and nostalgia of the original characters. Kids already love this character, and new kids will be discovering it for years to come. What a fun way to keep kids reading.

Cat in the hat is up to his usual antics. This time he is there to make library study time a little more chaotic and totally fun. He can’t resist bringing his friends the Things in to help with homework and distract the librarian. Not too much homework gets done, but the kids correct history as Cat in the hat tries to make some interesting changes (Lincoln crossing the Delaware?). The illustrations are bright and fun. Totally recommend it…. But 9/10 librarians won’t.

My review might be in the minority. The story line was good, but I couldn't get past the illustrations. It looked like a spoof of classic Dr. Seuss. I hope this illustrator writes books with original characters from now on. I didn't care for it. Sorry.

Leí el adelanto del Free Comic Book Day. Las ilustraciones son preciosas. La historia sencilla. No creo que sea suficiente para poder darle una calificación. Leí muy poquito material.

The 4th book in the Dr Seuss Graphic Novel series and it was so much fun. I love the silly way they did history lessons.
