Well, what a tangled web we weave…

Megan, in her role as a mother and detective sergeant she juggles both with Greg but of course in her department nothing is plain sailing. Another m*rder, investigating, kidnapping and mysteries to uncover. She calls in the those lovely FBI guys too 🤭 Once again, she is taken (this girl really needs to evaluate herself lol…it’s fiction! 🤪) this time she does manage to escape her captor but not without trauma. We are taken through their investigations, her gut instinct is something she relies upon but when it’s called into question, does her world fall apart? Does she hand in her notice? There is so much happening in this one, not too mention the new relationship development 🌶️ Not giving you anymore, it’s a crime romance.

If you like CSI, with added spice then you will enjoy this series and all it entails within that background. I totally enjoyed this whole series, and again loved the dynamics of this team and the other influences that were brought in.

Do read the triggers throughout the series.

Reoccurrence of Inheritance delivers a chilling punch in just a few lines—short, raw, and emotionally loaded. It teases a story soaked in trauma, obsession, and the haunting kind of love that doesn’t end when the relationship does… or even when life does.

The voice is weary and reflective, suggesting a character who’s been through something deeply scarring—possibly abuse, manipulation, or an all-consuming toxic love. The line “Even in death, he was never really gone” is especially powerful. It hints at a psychological hold that goes far beyond the grave—maybe literal, maybe metaphorical. Either way, it’s haunting.

There’s no sugarcoating here. This is dark romance at its most emotionally intense—less about the thrill of forbidden love and more about survival, ownership, and the unraveling of someone who has already fought so hard to put themselves back together. And now, they’re being dragged back to that breaking point.

Verdict:
A brief but gutting glimpse into a dark psychological romance that promises emotional devastation, ghostly obsession, and the kind of pain that lingers long after the last page.

This is my honest review in exchange for an ARC!

I can say this was an amazing 3rd book to the greensburg collection. I love this book cause it give the vibes of csi with a smutty twist. Megan was a strong Fmc she as a mom, detective an many other roles. This is a tangled web of many things in this book but that is what i loved most about it. It is a dark romance and there is nothing sugar coated about it and that is my type of book. There was some ups and down emotionally but that’s what makes these dark crime romances so fun. I am excited to read what Emily comes up with i the future the way here brain works is absolutely amazing.

This is book 3 of a great series. Megan and Greg are married and have a son. Contrast this with Megan and Greg as detectives. Megan is recovering from trauma from earlier on. They are called to a new case. More bodies. Things go bad and Megan is in trouble again. I love how strong Megan is. She is a tough detective and able to get out of some bad situations and then flip the coin and she is a mother and wife. Luckily her husband Greg works with her. Greg tries to protect her, and we see his husband side and detective side. This is a dark crime romance with a lot of triggers so check the warning list.

Meg and Greg got married and had baby Tommy! They are called out for a murder of a young blonde woman. Meg is instantly on alert and has a bad feeling. Greg doesn’t believe her. Soon more bodies float and she’s abducted. Able to escape she tells the department what she went through and they all say she’s crazy.

Read your trigger warnings
This one literally started off with a bang! And by bang, I mean fucking😂. 🌶️ level instantly increased. Bodies droppin like flies from jump like wtf is beefing with all these women?! Do we have a copycat on our hands???
The team is basically giving me whiplash bc of the amount of tension happening. I felt so bad for Meg bc of the way her team and husband were being. The audacitites. I like that the multiple POV includes the ☠️er. The fucking plot twist had me screaming and I just kept getting madder with Greg. Like pull your head out ya ass bro! Megan struggled so much in this one. By the end of this books I was floored as fuck and stuck on stupid. The books got darker as the series went on and mannnn was it good! 10/10 👏🏻👏🏻

⭐️ 5/5 stars –This finale gave me everything—emotion, closure, chaos, healing, all of it. It didn’t just stick the landing, it reached into my chest, squeezed, and somehow left me feeling wrecked and whole.

🌶️ 3/5 Spice Rating –This isn’t smut for smut’s sake—it’s built on connection, trust, and all the complicated, messy in-between. It’s open door, full of tension and emotional weight, with just enough control to scratch that soft dom itch. And the poly relationship is handled with so much care—no drama, no shock value, just real, steady love that feels honest and earned.

🖤 4/5 Darkness Rating –This one’s heavy, no way around it—serial murders, sexual assault, deep-rooted trauma, and the emotional aftermath hit hard. It’s dark, but it’s never there just for shock—it means something.

What I Loved:

The emotional payoff in these final pages is massive. Megan’s full-circle moment—facing the weight of her father’s legacy, her own trauma, and the future she’s finally allowing herself to have—hit hard. The epilogue actually gives closure but still leaves room for healing to keep happening. Watching her show up as a mom, a leader, and part of this beautifully complex poly family felt real—not polished, not performative. The poly dynamic isn’t loud or dramatic—it’s steady, loving, and rooted in trust. It’s not there for spice or spectacle. It’s there because Megan deserves safe, chosen love in every direction. And that scene with her father—quietly devastating in the best way. Klepp didn’t go for neat—she went for honest.

The Story (No Spoilers!):

The final chapters and epilogue don’t just wrap the plot—they close out the emotional arc that’s been building across the entire Greensburg Collection. Megan’s journey from haunted to whole finally comes full circle, and it’s so damn satisfying. With the case closed, we get to see who she is beyond the trauma: a mom, a partner, a captain. The ending doesn’t pretend the pain didn’t happen—it honors it. Reclaims it. There’s still grief woven through these pages, but there’s peace too. And it’s not some fairytale ending—it’s better. It’s real, and it hits.

Final thoughts:

This is how you end a series like this. Emily Klepp doesn’t tie things up with a bow—she finishes with depth and honesty. Megan’s scars don’t fade, but she stops letting them define her. It’s a conclusion that honors the darkness without being consumed by it. Quiet, hopeful, earned. And utterly unforgettable.

And when you look at where this story began—to where it lands now, the growth in the writing is undeniable. The voice is still fierce and emotional, but it’s more confident now, more in control. The pacing, the tension, the way she trusts the reader to feel what isn’t said—it’s all leveled up. This ending doesn’t just hit hard—it proves she knows exactly where to aim to land it right in the feels. That’s why I’ll always recommend Emily Klepp’s work.

ARC REVIEW

The Greensburg Collection - Emily Klepp

5/5⭐️

📚📚📚
This one is a 3 books in one read and ugh I was just obsessed! It totally took me a bit to get through but I was totally consumed from page one until the end. To me this had a different feel to any Emily Klepp book I’ve read yet, but I enjoyed it so much. The way it really make you feel like your in the middle of the investigations with these characters were everything. I got lot in this for a whole day and then some. Megan is one amazing FMC so many time she could have gave up but this woman just kept pushing every bad thing that happened to her. The trauma did not stop her. Just when you think things are getting better Emily whacks us again with something else. This one had me crying to smiling and not breathing because of all the twists and turns. I seriously loved Greg with how caring and protective he was. So many other characters will absolutely grab your heart too. Our girl Megan though really needs to learn to trust her gut instincts and feelings more cause omg. Overall i absolutely loved this collection and totally recommend grabbing it!

This is the third and final book in the Greensburg Collection. You really need to read the first two books to get the full effect of the series so I would not advise you to read it without reading the others. This one is dark so make sure you check the triggers. This isn’t a simple dark romance, it’s a crime romance. If you are a fan of crime shows like CSI, this might be right up your alley. You really get to feel and see the investigation and feel like you are right there with them. This book was such a ride, especially after reading the first two books. But the great thing about this book is that it does such an amazing job of wrapping everything up nicely. It doesn’t feel like a disjointed piece of the story but like everything that our characters went through creates their story. This book is what the end of a trilogy should be.

The FMC in this series is nothing short of amazing. It would be so easy to go through everything she does and quit. But Megan never stops fighting. Throughout the series we get to see her growth and get stronger and stronger. She has been through it but its like every tragedy is something that she grows from. She is definitely the type of FMC you love to see. And Greg another wonderful character. It is great to see how he is always there for her and does everything he can to protect her.

This book was what you want to see in the conclusion of a connected series. It wraps things up so nicely that we feel closure for our characters. It definitely has spice and some of it is very hot. This is a dark crime romance, so make sure you take care of yourself and check out the trigger warnings first. This is definitely an investment, as you need to read the entire series in order, but it is very much worth it. Book 3 does what it needs to do and really ends this series at the top.

Recurrence of Inheritance (The Greensburg Collection #3) by Emily Klepp

What. A. Ride.

This is the third and final book in The Greensburg Collection and let me just say—what a way to wrap up a series. But heads up: you have to read the first two books to really appreciate this one. It’s all connected, and jumping in here would be like watching the season finale of a crime show without any context. Not recommended!

This book is dark, emotional, intense, and honestly, super addicting. It’s not just a dark romance—it’s a crime romance. If you love shows like CSI or Criminal Minds, you’ll probably really vibe with this one. The investigation scenes feel so real, and you get totally pulled into the world alongside the characters.

Megan, our FMC, is seriously incredible. She’s been through so much, and it would’ve been so easy for her to give up, but she just keeps getting stronger. Watching her grow across the series has been one of my favorite parts.

The ending? SO satisfying. It ties everything together in a way that feels complete. Nothing feels rushed or out of place—it’s like every piece of the story finally lands right where it should. Plus, yes, there’s spice—and it is very hot 🔥.

Final thoughts: this series is a commitment, but it’s 100% worth it. Recurrence of Inheritance delivers on everything I wanted in a finale. Just make sure to check trigger warnings before diving in. It’s dark, but it’s also full of heart.

This was a solid 3.5-star read for me. I really enjoy these characters and how far they’ve come, but I struggled with the constant lack of boundaries—both emotionally and professionally. I get that the team functions like a family, but the nonstop oversharing and emotional unloading to anyone within earshot was overwhelming at times. Not every feeling needs to be a group conversation, and it occasionally felt like personal space and professionalism just didn’t exist. The way some colleagues—Greg, John, and Carter in particular—openly questioned Megan’s decisions in front of others rubbed me the wrong way. She’s proven herself repeatedly, and the lack of respect was frustrating.

Also, I still can't buy into the idea of one therapist being on call for everyone, showing up on demand, and apparently free to share details across the board. It pulled me out of the story—it just didn’t feel grounded in reality.

That said, this book brought the series full circle in a powerful way. Megan’s growth is undeniable. After everything she’s gone through—pain, trauma, near-breaks—she’s come out the other side as a devoted mother, a sharp detective, and a steady advocate for the people around her. It’s a testament to resilience and the idea that trauma doesn’t have to define a person. She turned hardship into strength, and that message really landed.

The plot kept me engaged with emotional highs, tense turns, and a few surprises. Even though the ending didn’t shock me, the buildup was layered and satisfying. It was a dramatic, intense, and fitting conclusion to the series—full of heart, but not without its flaws.

"How can you be annoying in and out of someone."

This book is classified as Dark Romance, and is book three of a connected series. It does have a trigger warning list: gore, violence, unaliving, torture, unaliving of a pet, discussions of parental loss, breath play, fear play, nife play, demonic clowns, exhibionism, voyeurism, sadism, masochism, monster parts, knotting, breeding without pregnancy, sharing, bondage, spitting, snowballing, extreme size difference, DVP, DUBCON, CONNONCON, NONCON, and other graphic spiciness.

The book is written in first person. This book has multiple point of views: Megan, David, Greg, Pamela, John, and The Greensburn Strangler. Megan and Greg are in the first two books, and their story continues. David learned from Reggie (Megan's brother) his ways, and thinks he is married to to Megan as well as has a kid. Pamela is Megan's mom and was unalived by her mom, so her chapter was in the past of what happened. John is married to Maggie, and works under Megan as a detective. Then, The Greensburn Strangler has been active for a long time and makes an appearance back into the picture.

I gave this book five stars. The reason behind that is due to how the author incorporated dark humor into parts as a coping mechanism for Megan. I love how this author wrapped up this series! It was beautiful.

Ok !!! So let me just start by saying that I am not typically someone who enjoys reading Dark Crime romances by any means . But anything written by Emily Klepp , well it truly is the exception. The degree to which I was hooked from the very first page , all the emotions I found myself reeling with . The complexities in the story and all the different layers to each character. I simply could not get enough. There truly were moments I was just utterly speechless and then others I actually found myself screaming outta pure frustration, I sobbed like a baby and yes I even rooted so freaking hard . Megan was such a strong Woman who may have been through some really tough times, but the way she came out even stronger , the way she didn’t let anything hold her back well my heart truly went out to her . And Greg . Omg I loved him so much. How protective he was over her , the way he was right there supporting her . Add into that the intrigue and suspense, the secrets, the twists and turns , the drama , the love , the passion , the unexpected surprises , the phenomenal world building , the family and friendships. By the time I got to the very last page , well to say I was left craving so much more would be a huge understatement. What a beautiful and emotional story . Not to mention , dark , raw , gritty and just downright powerful

Excuse me Ma'am... what the hell are you trying to do to me?!?!?!
First I was freaking out with the blurb bot knowing which direction this was going but it seriously got worse as I was reading!!!
Meagan has been through so much already but to then suffer through Greg and John being douches! OH HELL NO!! I officially fucking LOVE FRED, JENN and PEGGY!! Also Sophia those are keepers.
FUCK Carter sssooo bad!! I cant believe the twist this all took. I was shocked when David had his chapter, then crushed with what he did to Meagan, then confused as fuck with the Greensburg Strangler chapter but then slowly pieced it together!! WHAT?!?!??! I started to see things like Meagan when she was thinking about David knowing there want something right... but to learn the truth.. im shattered.
Also we can definitely NOT forget about this John and Maggie situation. and I'm so glad Greg was confronted about his holding back I knew there was way more to him!!
Honestly a spectacular ending for this trilogy and it did them justice. Their growth and the authors growth is amazing!! but also kept true to their characters.

Man, this book really throws you for a loop. You think you know what's going on with Megan and her life, but then BAM, something else happens. It's like she can't catch a break, and you're just sitting there wondering what's gonna hit her next. It definitely keeps you turning the pages because you gotta see how she deals with all this crazy stuff.
The story does a good job of bringing things together by the end. You see how everything that happened before actually matters, and it makes you think back on the whole series. There are some parts that are pretty intense and others that get a little steamy, so it's a mixed bag of emotions while you're reading. Just a heads-up, there's some heavy stuff in there, so make sure you know what you're getting into.
Overall, it felt like a solid way to wrap things up. You get some answers, but it also leaves you thinking about what Megan's going to do next. If you've been following her story, this one feels like a must-read to see how it all plays out. It's not always easy, but it's definitely interesting.

Where to start. Emily placed three books in this series intertwined within each other and over 700 pages that captivated and kept this readers attention the entire way through. Megan as her role of a detective and mother. Her struggles, the traumas she went through along with solving murders and investigating crimes; she is one strong female character that you grow to love. There is so much happening in all these books it is hard to detail it, but it truely is amazing Emily's ability to bring her characters to life , and mix trauma with spice and crime all in together to create one amazing read.

A great ending to a trilogy. If you are going to read this make sure that you have read the first two in the trilogy. This is a crime romance so know that going in. As with any Emily Klepp book always check your triggers. She is amazing at writing trauma stories and does it with grace. If you know you can not handle the content its ok to skip this for your mental health. I really loved how Emily developed this story. She did not leave you hanging. The story did not have plot holes and was not disjointed. She did a fantastic job of wrapping up the story in a way that makes sense. There are lots of twist and turns, secrets, and spice. Megan has been through a lot but she also grows through her struggles. It helps that she has an amazing guy like Greg to be by her side not only rooting her on but also protecting her in only ways that he can. The other major thing I enjoyed about that particular story is that you felt like you were apart of the investigation. This is a must read for anyone who loves spicy stories and crime shows.

Book three started off with a bang into the story and oh my this story is amazing. The story is filled with so many greats and not so great scenes. But one great thing is the kids growing and all cute. The triggers are a lot for many people to read books like these and should not because we care for your mental health more.

One scene is someone being raped and she realizes in her scenario that it is better to just give in. Not because she is weak and he overpowers her but due to the fact that she has a family to come home to. Smart move if you ask my opinion.

Megan is a detective with her husband Greg and by the end of the story they are both promoted which is amazing. Their careers in the police force show that you also can be a decent person also.

Megan shows you that you can endure hell and still overpower it and do what she has to for her children and it shows. I wish i had the courage that she demonstrates all throughout these stores.

The Greensburg Collection

This whole series was amazing! It had me on the edge reading it! There were days where I had to take a break because it was intense but over all this was beautifully written. I absolutely loved our FMC! Megan was just amazing strong woman and I loved her so much! From start to finish I knew she was only going to get stronger and stronger. And Greg was just as amazing as watching her and protecting her! I will say book 3 left me for shock! Like I couldn’t believe it but in a way I saw it all coming full blown to a head! I knew something was off when talking about her father I couldn’t figure out why it bothered me so much. But towards the end I was like finally. The gaps got filled in and I was like oh my god at it all. Emily’s writing is amazing and I absolutely love everything she puts out there! It’s all amazing!!!

I really liked this one. I think out of the 2 in the Greensburg series this one was my favourite especially because of the twist at the end. The first 2 books did seem a lot different compared to this one, not sure if it was because the first 2 were earlier Emily books and I only got into her books last year.

I found it weird I liked Megan in the first book, she annoyed me something terrible in book 2 but I didn't mind her in this one. I wasn't so sure that we needed the relationship between her and John but that just me. I liked her and Greg too much, Although it did seem to work and Greg didn't mind so why should I.

I know that we are supposed to dislike her dad for what he did to her mum and her but I could help but feel sorry for him once we got the full story. To the point that I loved that she let him see the kids when it came to the epilogue.

This is the third book in the series, and yes you need to read the first two. Go do it.

Ok, in this one I kinda got irritated with Megan. Like come on sis, you gave an amazing husband and kid, why are you pushing him away?!?! And once again, BUDDY. SYSTEM!!!!!!! Like come on. The third time you get kidnapped that’s all on you (not really). I get it she’s been through shit but come on. Be the good girl we all know you are!!!! I’m just thinking about Greg and Thomas here.

All that being said I really loved this book. As you can tell, alllllll the feels 😂😂 and I might have thrown my kindle a time or two. I’ve read a few E.K. Novellas but this is the first series of hers but I will definitely be checking hers out!!

This is the third and final book in The Greensburg Collection. I was dying to read this book since I have previously read “Inheritance of Misfortune” and “Misfortune of Recurrence.” Both of those books made me cry so I suspected that this book would too.
OMG!! I was not expecting to keep fielding curveball after curveball! This book (as I suspected) also made me cry again. It was traumatic, it was steamy, it was brutal and it was smexy!! I loved the story, the characters and the dynamics between all the characters.
Thank you, Emily Klepp, for another beautiful and traumatic read! I was so sorry to see the end of this series. It was such a joy to read and I cannot wait to read whatever you release next!

This whole series had me gripped from the start. Emily has become an author whose books i love to read. The emotions i go through when reading her books ranges from sobbing one minute to screaming in frustration to cheering when the main character succeeds with their task. This series ran me through all the emotions. Megan had to deal with so much trauma throughout the series ranging all the way from her childhood and extending into adulthood. But she is not the only one who had trauma throughout the series. Her husband and team had trauma every time Megan got kidnapped or a new body was found. Relationships and friendships are tested in this last book when Megan’s husband and friends don’t believe her. Loved this series!

We are back with Detectives Megan and Greg Mallard. We have a new serial killer to figure out. The beginning of the book and Gregs attitude had me so pissed off. I just wish Megan would take her own advice and keep herself safe. There is a crazy plot twist with this serial killer. I’m thankful for Fred, Jenn, Sophia, and Peggy for having Megan’s back.

Greg and Megan will have to do some relationship healing but this also leads to a very sexy plot twist for them. Wowzers!

This book is dark, twisty, hot, and spicy. This plot twist goes full circle and leaves us with a great ending to this series.

This is an excellent read. I have enjoyed this series very much. This one will send chills bone deep. So much family trauma is revealed that is the root cause of everything. Megan and her team are amazing. Her personal life is amazing. So much support and love that helps everyone through all the trauma. Get ready to hold on tight for this bone chilling rollercoaster ride. Thank goodness for the HEA at the end. Please check the TW throughout this series. I highly recommend this book and this series. I love crime stories and this one hits the spot. Emily Klepp is an amazing author. I'm so happy I found her and her books.

This is book 3 in the series they have to be read in order for you to know the characters. This book was everything and more I loved hearing from Megan and Greg again but I was also excited to hear from the other characters especially John. This book had me gripped and on the edge of my seat so many times. I was not expecting that result but I am made up for Megan and her dad that they can find their bond again.
My heart went out to David in this story because of his past which was traumatic he was also a victim but he couldn't speak out about it. I am absolutely gutted that this is the last book I'm secretly hoping to hear from the other characters from these stories.

Book 3

Megan and Greg have a child now this happened after book 2 finished they named him tommy as Megan lost the guy who was a dad to her (father figure) thomas. Megan and Greg are having  time off but get a call we'll mid "fun". A Body been found and it is similar  ways to the Reggie case he's no longer around. Who's the k***er u may ask well that would spoil it but  they capture Megan  she manages to escape  but she's hysterical and calls Greg. Megan opens  up about  her feelings for  John aswell as Greg  so they  both do things with her.

Loved reading these   really enjoyable  there's alot more  to the  books  but this  is just snippets  I have written down  but such a good  read

This final book in this trilogy was good. Again, the stakes are very high with the group trying to solve the case and stop the person responsible for the crimes.

Megan as always is at the top of her game. It was very nice to get to see Greg take more in charge role as well. He is smart and he and Megan work very well together. I like seeing them professionally and in their personal life as well. They have really bonded tightly as a couple.

This book does have heavy, dark content. So, make sure you read the triggers. Yet, they are essential to the storyline. A strong finish to this trilogy.

Okay, this was such a page turner! And talk about a TWIST I never even saw coming! What did you do to me Emily?!

Megan goes through soooo much! But damn, is she a kicka$$ woman!! This book really hit me hard with emotions! I love how strong she is, and how she just keeps pushing, and striving for answers!
Her and the whole department are such a close knit family, that you can feel everything, whether it be something from the past or the present, and how they stick together!
Suchhhhh a phenomenal read!!! I seriously recommend everyone read this one! (Please check the triggers first though!)
5/5 Emily, 5/5. 🙌🏼
