That last spot on your bucket list? Consider it filled.
These 17 short stories by bestselling author Tom Sadira are guaranteed to make your head spin (don’t worry, it’s legal), your belly ache (with laughter, mostly), and your heart soar (or sink, depending on the story). Whatever effect they have, each tale is dedicated to a single offering you a quick vacation far away from our sinking ship.
“What sinking ship?” you ask?
Let’s face it, the 21st century is starting to look like it could be humanity’s last. Instead of blossoming into a utopian paradise the anthropocene, a.k.a. “The Age of Homo Sapiens”, has rapidly deteriorated into an extinction level event. And, if we’re being honest with ourselves, the worst part is...it’s all our fault.
Alright, calm down. There’s no point in lamenting the double suicide of both our civilization and our species. The astrochicken of karmic balance has come home to roost. Our time on the cosmic stage has ended. We might as well face reality and make peace with the little time we have left by appreciating every moment and connecting with everyone and everything we encounter aboard this sinking ship.
And guess what you’re encountering right now? My book.
Whether it's a tale about a jealous beard, two Martian rovers falling in love, or a vengeful witch slinging curses via SMS, you’re bound to forget all about the apocalypse, at least for a little while.
I'm not finished with the whole collection (there are a LOT of stories in here!), I'm taking my time reading here and there, it's perfect for those in-between moments, but here's what I'm loving so far: • FEARLESS WRITING. Sadira just goes there, wherever there leads him. No guardrails, total abandon. I love it. (But with an eye on skill and accuracy and proper grammar, etc. too. Awesome.) • SUPER IMAGINATIVE AND ORIGINAL. Sentient beard, Christmas virus (my favorite story of the bunch so far), lizard family, you name it. • TOTALLY ECLECTIC. Horror, sci-fi, comedy, fantasy, super-short, long, more horror, whatever seems to pop into Sadira's head. Looking forward to more.
