For a Webtoon lover for years, this is such a blessing! I really appreciate Walter Foster Publishing for providing me with this advance reading copy! I feel it’s such a great boost for the Webtoon creators and an amazing opportunity for the rest of the world to discover them through such books which educate them about their journey/creativity.

I find the book informative and interesting. I find the instructions very helpful and quite fun! It’s short but you will get the best out of it if you are interested in learning about Webtoons comic art creation.

The Art of Morgana and Oz is a tutorial technique guide for drawing the characters from the very popular webcomic in their familiar style. Released 9th April 2024 by Quarto on their Walter Foster imprint, it's 96 pages and is available in paperback format.

The layout has a fresh and unusual (for Walter Foster) format. It's set up very much like a webcomic, with breakaway panels and a comics layout and flow. An beginning chapter introducing the characters in colored panels is followed by a surprisingly thorough step-by-step tutorial section. There's also a QR code which links to online content/the latest episode of the webtoon.

The author/publisher have included colored full page panels with the hexadecimal values for the shades used in the pictures to help with color selection. The tutorials are moderately advanced, but do-able for a determined beginner, and will give artists enough accomplishment to keep going, which is the most important part.

This is a beginner to advanced booklet but full of good technique for anime style art/cartooning and will provide some useful takeaways for the majority of readers/artists who are interested in the style. The pages (and there are many) dealing with positioning, emotional expressions, and facial features are especially detailed and useful (not just for drawing these particular characters).

Five stars. This would be an excellent choice for public or school library acquisition, home use, activity/makers' groups libraries, home studio, or gift giving, maybe with a sketch pad and markers/pens.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

As a huge Morgana and Oz fan, I am SO glad I got to read this book early!! I will 100% be buying my own copy of it and the physical first volume when they publish here in a few months because this is one of my fave WEBTOON series to follow! I originally found Miyuli's work on TikTok and immediately fell in love with their OCs and illustration style. I was so happy that they included the bios into each of the characters at the front half of the book. I've really wanted something like this for a while because I really love all of the characters in this world. It was also fun seeing some of the illustrations Miyuli was working on last year/sharing on their Instagram as full page spreads and features in the book! Can't wait to hold the physical copy in my hands.

As for the drawing portion of the book, I thought the process info and step-by-step sketching methods made sense to me! And being a fan of the series, I loved the little author notes in this section! I appreciated how this felt like a fan book and not only drawing instructions. Being a creative myself, I really enjoyed this about the book, giving insights and details into why various decisions were made!

To conclude...Morgana and Oz are one of the cutest witch-vampire pairings out there and you should be reading their story because Miyuli did a fantastic job with it! Can't wait to read more from this author in the future ✌🏻

Thanks to WEBTOON and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the book, because it explains each character individually, their personality and physique, and then explains step by step how to draw the character. I think this attention to detail of the characters and of the process makes us really want to draw and pick up a pencil.
At least that's what happened to me.
And it is a book that formulates the foundations of art and that we can apply to other drawings that we may create.

And is just so good, after we have the story on the Webtoon, it's finally time for us to draw some of our favorite characters.

A huge thanks for the ARC of the book to

A lovely book filled with details on how to improve your drawings of the characters from the comics. Yet this is not a beginner-friendly book, it is more for advanced and experienced drawing enthusiasts who need extra ideas and more nuanced guidance. It is also a nice collection item to add to your Morgana and Oz comic drawing collection.

One thing I really like about theses how to draw books based off webtoon comics is that it gives up a little bit of information on the characters before it starts to teach us how to draw them. So if you have never read the webtoons it is based off of you still get a good ideal of who each of the characters are. Theses are always so well done and the art is so amazing.

I won this book as part of a Web Toon prize pack. I was not familiar with Morgana and Oz, an unlikely couple matching witch with vampire. This was a nice introduction to the various characters in this webcomic with a focus on how to draw them (much more advanced than my level of doodling.)

Cute, informative, and really fun! I am also so intrigued by art styles and how people can possibly make the beautiful art they create! This was like a little peak behind the curtain, and I was able to draw something other than a blob! Also now all I want is to read the WEBTOON!

Learn to Draw Morgana and Oz is a thoughtful guide on art. I liked the interview portion, and all of the small details behind creating the webtoon as well as a small guide on how to publish on WEBTOON and the different components in a webtoon. The book is great for fans since it contains additional lore and details that the webtoon doesn't mention in detail (i.e. witch marks). The author clearly lays out the necessary tools to begin drawing either digitally or with traditional materials, and I felt like they covered a variety of foundational art topics that can help any artist. There was a good balance between educational informational pages and pages that held your hand as they guided you through a sketch.
