TROPES:
~fated mates
~paranormal
~forced proximity/roommates

PLOT: Brynnlee and Bash meet and become roommates... but they're mates, too. How can they make it work?

THOUGHTS: Meh. It was okay. The chemistry wasn't there and the pacing was so slow for me. Lola's books are slowly turning into one big, same book. I hate that for her!

bilmiyorum. Tavsiye etmem.Kapakları için başlamıştım bende.

Absolute garbage. I couldn't even read the epilogue. It's like the author gave up even trying to give these books a semblance of a plot. I hated Brynn and Bash with every fiber of my being and their every interaction literally made my skin crawl. The repetitive nicknames 🤢 Brynn's obsession with her own thong 🤮 not a personality to be found between them. Firmly wiping this one from my memory.

1 ⭐️ for the blessing that was the short length of this book. Any longer and I would've ended before the book did 💀

This is the LAST book in the series Deceit and Devotion and FINALLY includes Brynn's (and Sebastian's) story!! This is the book I've been waiting for, and the whole reason I had to buy this series! Brynn is the sister of the dragons in Lola's Mate Mountain series, and through out those books you get to see Brynn with her mate Sebastian, I've been dying for their backstory!!
This was probably my favorite book in this series and I personally loved the plot✨️ and banter moreso than the other two.
Do I move onto her last three book series?? Odds are high that I'm ordering them now

Overall, I enjoyed this book compared to the rest of the series, but it did drag for me in the second half. It was a good palate cleanser for me though, so the book did its job.

Okay I have now read all 9 books in this universe and I can clearly say there is a formula and these appear to be easy to churn out due to that.

The men all drive hummers, are big tall muscular overprotective and fight the mate bond. They also buy red roses and only red roses. Oh and they’re all rich and some immortal age but no one knows what that age is.

Everyone (men and women) use the word “channel” for vagina, they unclip bras, and they “dive into the long version” of a story.

Every single couple fights the bond in some way, but both are obsessed and in lust with each other so they obviously fail and cave. For some of them, they literally couldn’t survive without them but everyone is stubborn anyway.

We get about 15 “a few days later” “a few weeks later” “the weeks past in our new routine” per book.

So while yeah, I didn’t hate them enough to NOT read them all… if I hadn’t been multitasking during every book, I would have picked them apart so much more.

If telling over showing, no character development to tell literally anyone apart, and shallow mate bond insta love don’t bother you, these may be way more than 2/3 stars to you! But those are some of my biggest pet peeves in books when I want to enjoy them vs just distract myself.

A book doesn’t need to be 5 stars to enjoy it, but I didn’t really enjoy these. I just consumed them for the sake of it. But hey, they are really easy to read and digest and I just read 9 books by this author in less than a week so props to her!

I didn't want to control her. I wanted to taste every inch of her body. To drink from her until I was lost entirely. To fill her. To make sure she'd never want anyone else but me.

5 stars!

This was such a fantastic conclusion to what has been a brilliant and steamy series by Lola Glass! I've been so excited to finally get Brynn and Bash's story since the beginning, and holy hell they did not disappoint. I just loved Brynn as a heroine. She was strong and unafraid to go after what she wanted, and I loved watching her tenacity go up against Bash's controlling nature. Even though Bash made plenty of mistakes, I loved how he was always willing to change his path and learn from those mistakes. Their journey to a happy mate-bond was tumultuous and so steamy, and I loved watching Sebastian go from uncaring to an obsessive mate. This is my favorite Lola series so far, and I can't wait to see what she writes next🖤

Tropes: fated mates, grumpy/sunshine, brooding/reluctant hero, sassy heroine, hate-to-love-you, roommates-to-lovers, forced proximity, monster romance, 'touch her and die' vibes, she falls first/he falls harder, girl gang, slow burn, STEAMY🔥

🚫 N O T A S 🚫
Me explico.

Here I thought the first book would get the best rating, but my god I loved this book! Lots of spoilers because I just loved this book.

Likes:
- This quote: The kiss grew deeper, it wasn’t rough. It wasn’t brutal. It felt like coming home. // COME ON 🥵
- The author’s writing style in this book was a bit different but in a really good way.
- A true curvy girl. They describe her as curvy and tall, but there’s plenty of authors that say curvy and then there’s really nothing else ever mentioned in the book. This is the opposite. From Bash’s obsession with grabbing her ass and thighs to the sex scene where he specifically wants her to turn around so he can see her ass bounce, it continuously reiterates that she’s curvy in a positive manner vs. acting like she’s curvy for the sake of being “different” or only bringing it up in self-conscious ways.
- Brynn nicknaming him vs the other books the guy nicknames the girl.
- Brynn is an icon. The level of “no fucks given” that she has when dealing with Bash just made this book sooooooo enjoyable and entertaining to read.
- The power dynamic. Bash is firm at times, but this man is metaphorically on his knees for this woman. The man constantly in control finally met his match, and she does and says what she wants and bosses him around constantly and it was SO hot.
- Their sex scene while having to keep quiet at family Thanksgiving 🔥
- Showing a vulnerable/hurt guy for once. Most authors will use this as a trope for girls being hurt, but rarely will an author have the male character be the one that got hurt emotionally in the past in a relationship. It was so refreshing to see.
- I loved him repeatedly trying to seal the mate bond and her just ignoring or rejecting it repeatedly. It made it so much more impactful when she agreed to it. Also, the way she sealed it.

Dislikes (no deductions because they’re just commonalities repeated in the series):
- The fucking red roses…can we PLEASE just pick another flower? But I did like the wash Bash used them.
- Towed. Towed. Towed. You’ll get it when you read the series.

Two down, one to go. It's Sebastian Villin's chance at happiness. How to Fall in Lust with a Devil is the third and final book in the series and it did not disappoint.

I've been with this series from the beginning. The first couple Tatum and Rafel, were great I liked Tatum and Rafe too even when he pushed some of my buttons. Then there was Miles and Zander, I loved Zander (he's my second favorite Villin, Anastasia, the guys' mom, is my favorite) but Miles pushed almost all my buttons. Now here we are with Brynn and Bash. I love Brynn, she has a bright personality and makes the best out of everything. Bash on the other hand was more controlled in some ways he was everything I thought he would be and in other ways, he surprised me.

The craziness that was going on between Bryn and Bash was perfection. The push and pull, the reversal of situations, some come to Jesus moments with others as well as themselves, I ate that crap up. While Brynn may have started off wanting to seduce Bash, she had enough self-respect that she wasn't willing to accept anything less than what she wanted. Really, it's not even seduction, it's all about freedom and making choices. My heart went out to both of them, Bash's past affects him greatly, almost in the same way as Brynn's future affects her.

The Villin family get-togethers are always the best. I love how close the Villins are and in turn that means Tatum and Miles too. However, it was Anastasia Villin who got me. I love her and now I see where Rafe and Zander get their mischievous side from. The woman was a hoot, with her scheming and teasing.

How to Fall in Lust with a Devil took a few unexpected turns but I loved every minute of it. Plus the epilogue was everything. I highly enjoyed this series and would love to read more books like this from Lola in the future.

Her brothers are protective, he might be worse

A fantastic third book in this series. Brynlee's had her brother August staying with her for the past year as he's become overly protective of her. When he needs to visit the prison he protects with her other dragon shifting brothers, he drags her to Sebastian's home with a proposal that if he looks after her the dragons will promise not to send him or his brothers to prison again. Initially the timescale is indefinite but they agree on a year; she feels she's just been moved to another prison as Bash never seems to want to be in the same room as her, or even look at her if he can help it.

Bash isn't pleased with the dragon shifter leaving his sister with him, he's even more annoyed as his parents are staying with him. His mum has the hope of him finding his mate like his brothers. Anastasia is fond of Brynn and he realises they've started working together to work out which parts of the city he avoids to find his potential mate. What they don't realise is the only person he really tries to avoid is now living under his roof.

When they're invited to his parents for Thanksgiving, with his brothers, Tatum, Miles and a cousin of theirs, Anastasia has a wicked plan to help Brynn. Can Brynn convince Bash that he needs to stop avoiding her?

Another fantastically funny story by Lola Glass; with drama, brilliant characters with steamy chemistry, building friendship before trusting their love; heaps of humor and spice💖. I love the wicked plans Brynn comes up with Anastasia, and her seduction plan. Great for a cozy read & I would strongly recommend. I couldn't put this down can't wait for Brynn & Bash's story.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I have loved every book in this series because the FMCs have all been different flavors of witty, funny, smart, and supportive of each other which I adore. It feels like I've gotten to know each character appropriately in their own stories but also have had a good idea of who they are to each other through their interactions with each other in each book. Something I especially enjoy about all these books is the author inserting pictures of the text conversations between the characters because we can see things like nicknames (Miley being Miles has been a great example) and this gives a feeling of almost being involved in a friends circle group text which is unique.

I really felt for Brynn in this book when she describes feeling like an outsider, essentially being the last unmated and fully human of her friends group which, especially in this world, would feel pretty isolating. And Bash being such a growly, protective cinnamon roll towards her and keeping his feelings super locked down made me FEEL THINGS. Sometimes frustration, especially early on since he loves to torture himself, and later on warm and fuzzies. Both characters are covering deep vulnerability with outward displays of self-sufficiency to the point of pushing away what they truly want but that's what makes the eventual HEA so deeply satisfying. I adored this series and I hope the author follows through on stories for Brynn's brothers like she mentions at the back of the book! 5/5 Stars.

What a delightful and spicy series! Lola Glass has truly outdone herself with this captivating collection. Each book offers its own unique charm while still maintaining the irresistible blend of witty banter, steamy romance, and heartwarming moments that define this romantasy world. Without a doubt, this series has quickly become one of my favorites from the author.

The world-building in these books is simply fantastic, as expected from Lola Glass. I can only hope that there will be spinoffs from this series in the future. Personally, I'm crossing my fingers for a dragon brothers series—I can't get enough of this world! It's on par with her brilliant Mate Hunt and Rejected Mate worlds, which remain absolute favorites of mine. I appreciate how each story feels distinct, offering fresh perspectives and exciting adventures.

The slow-burn build-up between the characters and their journey towards understanding and communication is expertly crafted and undeniably sweet once they reach that point. The conclusion to the series wraps things up nicely, but I can't help but wonder if her brothers will get stories of their own—it would certainly be intriguing to see.

For readers seeking a light-hearted and enjoyable series, look no further. This series is a perfect choice. While it may not offer the same nerve-wracking tension as some of Lola Glass's other works, it is undeniably entertaining and thoroughly satisfying. You won't regret diving into these delightful tales.

What to do when you are the sole human surrounded by immortal friends and family and are continually reminded of your own mortality? You do whatever you can. I just loved this last book of the Deceit & Devotion series, the story of Brynn and Sebastian.

Brynn is the human sister of dragons who have essentially had her under house arrest for her own protection during the past year. With an offer he can’t refuse, her brother basically buys Sebastian’s protection for her for another year. Someone that has avoided her at all costs and done almost anything to push her and others away.

Bash… No, Crash….No, I mean, Smash…I just loved how Brynn tries to annoy him by using any other name, at least at the beginning. But after finding out that she is his potential mate and taking the advice of Anastasia, she becomes just downright blatant in pushing his buttons to make him lose control.
Because if Brynn’s original plan didn’t work, maybe this one will. But as things progress, she realizes that immortality may not be the only thing she wants.

This was a great series-ender PNR with an enemies-to-lovers trope thrown in for good measure. 5 stars with spice level of 4-5/5. I can’t wait for the entire series to come out in print, it already has a spot on my bookshelf waiting!.

Get ready to be blown away by this enemies to lovers paranormal romance!

Brynlee has been at the mercy of one of her over the top protective brothers for months - far too long - when her brother has to head back home to the Dragon lands. Brynlee is ecstatic at the idea that she will have her freedom back when her brother instead makes a deal with the brother of her best friend's mates who can't stand her. Well, the feeling is mutual..kinda..this bosshole is very stiff around her but if he loosed up would the sparks fly? And why is so cold around her?! Turns out that Sebastian is even more protective than her brother! Brynlee struggles being human while all her loved ones are no longer human and vows to become immortal one way or another! Strong enemies to lovers vibes, revenge and love plans that go sideways and turn around on Brynlee, and tons of comedy and touching moments. This is the third book in the Deceit and Devotion series. It can be read as stand alone but is more enjoyable if you have read the other books as well (and you don't want to miss out on those stories anyways!). I really enjoyed Brynlee and Sebastian's story, I was swept away and said to let them go. Highly recommend if you like paranormal romances with some spice!

This one felt too quick...

I am not sure it was because with Brynn things were kind of a done deal from the moment her brother August dropped her off on Bash's doorstep.

I adored Brynn. She had a way of talking that reminded me of myself. Spunky, playful, and a little stubborn. Though she was depressed over her lifespan, the woman found silver linings in everything she did. Even when she felt hurt, Bryn would do what she wanted. Like having a strength of will beyond any of her friends or their mates.

Bash was hard to take. He spent half the book being a wound up angry mess. Refusing to give into something that was clearly good for him. When he was finally forced to give in, he was surprised by the fact that it felt good. I couldn't get past this, until it hit me about the hurt he had gone through. Pain makes up run from things that are similar, and romantic pain can be some of the worst. Its hard to move on when you have been so thoroughly rejected. Avoiding Bryn wasn't out of not wanting a mate, it was really about not wanting to end up hurt. That I can completely understand.

Despite the length of this book, I found it entertaining and am a little sad that this story has come to an end. Lola Glass has officially made it into my top five favorite authors of all time. I can not get enough of her books!

Brynnlee and Bash are forced to become roommates when her brother requests that Bash watches over her for a year. But Brynnlee is tired of everyone constantly watching over her because she's the only human left in their group, and so she hatches a plan to turn herself into a vampire. Which is when Bash accidentally reveals that she is his mate. Brynnlee, along with the help of Bash's mom, hatch a plan to make him fall for her, that way she can become a demon and live forever. But as the two of them spend time together, it becomes clear that there really is something between them.

This was cute. I think my favorite one in the series is definitely the first one. Here there's the plot of trying to trick him into falling for her and from there it goes completely wild. I definitely like this book more than the second one, but it was very obvious from the beginning that the two of them we're going to get past all the nonsense relatively quick and just be together. I like the glimpse of the future at the end for not just them but for all the couples, and I'm glad I read the series because it's just cute and I like the world, but the only one really worth reading was the first one.

I was so ready for Brynn and Bash's story that I devoured this book in one sitting. I absolutely enjoyed it and the characters, and the story was charming in its own way. I do wish that there were more moments when we could witness more chemistry between Brynn and Bash. There were moments but I just needed more. Brynn has always been afraid of growing old and dying while all of her friends and siblings have no need to worry about that. She has a plan; she just has to find the right time to do it. Sebastian has always been the silent and grumpy brother of her best friend's mates, but he knows something Brynn doesn't, that is until his mother Anastasia spills the secret. Brynn is determined to take matters in her own hands with the help of Anastasia, but she realizes that things are as simple as she hoped. An unexpected event leads Brynn and Bash to make a decision that will change both of their lives for the better. This was a sweet, funny and steamy romance with a HEA and great characters. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books from this author and will be recommending this series to all of my paranormal romance book loving friends.

Part of the Deceit & Devotion series each can be read as a standalone an overprotective sext and the one who captures his attention. Brynn is a sweetheart when she wants to be she will have you laughing out loud at some of her shenanigans, she is the human sister of dragons who have been under protection for her safety, they will do what needs to be done to keep her safe they buy protection for another, and when she finds out who they hired it becomes her mission to frustrate the he** out of him 😊. Sebastian sexy as all get out protector is hired to protect one human women sister of the dragons being around for just a little bit of time he knows she is his mate but he can’t/won’t fall for her or her shenanigans but it is getting harder everyday especially when she calls him out of his name or pushes him past his limits and forces him to faces what been right in front of him. The magnetic pull between them can’t be ignored no matter how hard he tries and the hard he tries the stronger the pull between them grows but where are they headed, has he finally accepted their togetherness, has she found where she belongs, and can they find happiness somewhere through it all?
