★★★★★! For The Record, book 3 of 3. The conclusion to Brady Maxwell III & Liz’s against-all-odd whirlwind saga mixing US politics, clandestine affairs & much more!

“Tonight when I have you all alone, I’m going to remind you exactly what happened the night you brought a Senator to his knees.”

Books in The Record Series should be read in order:
Book 1: Off The Record
Book 2: On The Record
Book 3: For The Record

In Off The Record (book 1) and On the record (book 2) we followed Morehead scholar, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Journalism student and school paper reporter Elizabeth Dougherty, Liz, as she embarked on a clandestine affair with State Senator Brady Maxwell III whom she meet on the campaign trail while he was running for US Congress.

It was an impossible romance doomed from the start. Brady was on a set course to Washington that didn’t include a too young student. For Liz having an affair with a politician whose campaign she is supposed to cover impartially could jeopardize her career. And so a roller coaster began that spanned the campaign and beyond and brought us euphoric highs only to land at rock-bottom lows.

For the record (book 3) picks up at the ending of book 2. Brady and Liz have been through so much yet their biggest battles are ahead as it’s re-election year and everyone wants a piece of them. It’s an on pins-and-needles page-turner to learn what is coming back to bite them in the butt and who else is out to get them, sprinkled with… everything that is the swoon-worthy, beyond perfect Brady Maxwell III!

“Now back to business at hand. That dress belongs on the floor.”

Nine words to describe Brady Maxwell III: Captivating, frank, elusive, secretive, charming, focused, persistent, collected and unforgettable .

photo OTR1 he xBS by sb_zpsqqiltk5x.gif

Elizabeth Dougherty, Liz has come a long way…. Eight words to describe Liz: Smart, focused, goal-oriented, naïve, immature, impressionable, reflective and forward-thinking.

For the Record is complex with many interesting characters and events, vividly told and weaved together in perfection. It is everything I could ever have hoped for in a book 3 and the ending to a saga I won’t soon forget.

Captivating plot! Brilliant story-telling! Larger-than-life Brady Maxwell III! Epic trilogy!

“I’ll always be your airplane.”

“I seem to be a game changer.”

“Understatement. You’re more than the game changer. You’re the game and the team and the league and the whole universe of sports wrapped up not one neat little package.”

I am the happiest reader right now. I have the biggest smile on my face. Why you ask? Because the ending of this fantastic series was PERFECTION. I cannot get enough of Brady Maxwell.

Brady and Liz have been through a lot. Secret relationships, being apart, getting back together, going public. It’s a lot for any couple to handle. Through all thats happened, they’ve both come to one conclusion. They can’t be without each other. No matter what obstacles, they at least have to try.

 photo ef22a444-3819-4443-b587-2485e7fd6059_zpsec481dd7.jpg

I wish I could say that they have an easy journey navigating this new and open relationship, but I can’t. There are a lot of outside forces making things difficult for them. Especially Liz. Her career is something she's always worked so hard at and now its in jeopardy. The type of career she is building and dating a politician don’t really jive. Liz has lots of hard choices to make about her life. She can’t help who she fell in love with and she can’t stay away. Their relationship is a fight at times, but it’s something worth fighting for.
“It’s never going to be easy. You had to fight to get him and you’re going to have to fight to keep him. The lowest of lows bring the highest of highs. And when you find someone who brings you both, that doesn’t mean you should walk away; It means you have something special.”

You remember that Brady from book one that wouldn’t risk the campaign to really be with Liz? Yeah. That man is long gone. I really feel like there is no one better than Brady in the book world right now. I am on a Brady high. As much as I loved him in the first two books, I love him so much more in this one. Brady is the perfect mix of alpha, sweet, sexy, caring and protective.

I was so impressed with Liz in this book. The first two books, she had her moments where she irked me. This one- not at all. As much as I love these two main characters, I really love their relationship together. They both were willing to give, willing to sacrifice. Their growth from the first book has been tremendous.

 photo 2e7a004f-c73f-4fa8-8513-720ae9f311d7_zpsd4e82340.jpg

K.A. Linde’s record series is her best work yet in my opinion. I have fallen hard for these characters and their story. Overall, this last book was less angsty than the first two, but it completely held my interest. The writing style is amazing, it’s fast paced and flows well. Brady is a dream man, a perfect book boyfriend, and Liz is a wonderful heroine. Brady’s siblings are some of the best supporting characters! I’m dying for a Clay book! And one about Savannah would be great too!

This has been a special and memorable series for me. The epilogue was just magical. These books are some that I highly recommend. Anytime I hear the word airplane I will think of Brady Maxwell.

In this third book in the series, Brady and Liz are back on again. Thrust into the public eye at the end of 'On the Record', they are faced with a media frenzy. After so much time apart, they try to rebuild their relationship while trying to quell the negative headlines.

Once again, I found myself a bit irritated with Brady. Don't get me wrong, he definitely made some positive changes in regards to how he treated Liz. It seems that he did learn a little something during their separation.

Nonetheless, I kept waiting for him to acknowledge what a douchebag he had been for treating Liz like a dirty little secret while they were together the first time. Not to mention the fact that after stressing how important it was that they kept their relationship a secret, he quickly began a very public relationship with another reporter/tv host immediately following their break-up. Really, Brady? WTF!

Unfortunately, this never happened and all Liz got was a few weak references to the fact that he should have gone after her a long time ago. So, I was left with my resentment and anger. (This was a big hang-up for me with this series.) Was Liz not good enough for his public image then? If he really cared for her like he said he did, why was he so open about his next girlfriend while keeping Liz hidden away? I could go on and on.

Eventually, I had to just accept the fact that Liz was going to bear the brunt of the blame for their break-up. It didn't matter that any other sane woman would've walked away a long time before she did, she was at fault for the break-up and everything that transpired as a result. Yep, I'm still a little bitter about this.

Now that I've got my rant out of the way, I will say that I was delighted with the way their relationship went in this book. Brady finally treated Liz with the respect and consideration, which had been severely lacking in their relationship earlier. He went from one extreme to the other, spending every minute he had with her and defending their relationship on all fronts.

On the other side, there was no redeeming Hayden. His behavior at the end of the second book was unforgivable. While Liz wanted to see the best in him, I couldn't understand what the hell she was thinking. After all, this guy did force himself on her. I have a hard time thinking that she'd be so eager to rekindle a friendship with her rapist. It baffled me.

Overall, it was a nice conclusion to this series. I had a lot of gripes, but I have to admit that I enjoyed it as a whole. It was nice to see these two work through their issues and get the HEA I wanted for them. Brady's character might make me angry, but I loved that jerk!

I just LOVE that Brady Maxwell!! What a great ending to this series, I’m still chanting Max-well Max-well, Max-well.

The drama in this book is moderate considering anything can happen in a K.A. Linde story. The couple did however face obstacles but nothing over the top and I happily report that they they did it together. I must stress that the ending of this book has left me on a happy high for the whole day and probably for days to come. I loved how Kyla Linde used her personal experiences in campaigning to give a reader the realistic highs, lows and crazy of what being a candidate entails.

Liz and Brady’s relationship is out in the open and on the record. They now face the cruelty of public opinion and the media spot light on them going forward. Brady is the driving force in this book. He has claimed Liz and stands by her while she approaches graduation and her future plans. Brady was wonderfully protective, dedicated and I wish he was real so I could support him in future elections.

"They say the measure of a man is what he does with his power. I've come to find that I have no power without you.”

K.A. Linde gifts readers a strong conclusion and one kick ass epilogue for this couple. I can only hope that series goes on with Brady's siblings Clay and Savannah, please!

One of my favorite books this year - highly recommend!

5 I’ll always be your airplane…Stars

Reading this I had so many mixed emotions. Here is why - I was finally getting more of Brady, but then comes the reality that it’s over. I have absolutely loved reading about Liz and Brady’s journey. From meeting at that press conference a year and half ago, to deciding to have a secret fuck-buddy type relationship, to falling to in love, Liz leaving Brady to save his campaign, then them finally coming back to together For the Record.

Liz and Brady have confirmed that she is Sandy Carmichael and have to decide if they should go public with their relationship. There is so much risk involved in going forward. Liz is a political reporter, she is the Editor of the student paper, has been offered a job with The New York Times; dating Brady could easily be considered a conflict of interest and/or she could be perceived as bias.

A year and half ago Brady decided he wanted Liz, but wouldn’t risk the campaign to have her. Now campaign season is once again in full swing, Liz is still a student, and now has a scandal attached to her.

Brady and Liz decide that what they have is worth the risk, and have to learn how to be a couple with the world watching.

When I started this one I wasn’t sure if the final book would be an “epilogue” type book or if Kyla would continue to torture us with the angst she is so famous for. In the beginning I was sure it was the first type of book. I was reading and basking in my Brady glow, but I was still waiting because I know Kyla wouldn’t take the easy way out. Of course I was right, because sure enough at about 30% in I began having those heart stopping moments, and like its predecessor I couldn’t put it down.

For the Record Congressman Maxwell knows how to keep a girl begging. This book is way hotter then the first two, with Brady and Liz sneaking around just for the hell of it. I could provide you with sexy examples, but I would rather you get to experience it blindly like I did, wondering if they were really going to pull this stuff off. Just another reason Brady has my vote!

I have loved every book in this series, and the conclusion is just as strong as the first two. This book was perfect - angst, hot sex, character development, humor, intelligent writing. My only request is for Savannah and Clay to get their own books, yes I am greedy - MORE MAXWELLS!

If you've kept up with the series, you know that Brady and Liz are back together and ready to face things head on standing side by side...finally.

I was happy with this final installment of the series. I loved how unstoppable Brady was and how he wasn't going to let anything come between them ever again!

I thought Liz handled things really well. Sure, she made some mistakes but she learned from them and moved forward. She had some rough moments but she was determined as well.

The steaminess between the two of them was amazing. Brady never fails to bring out his Alpha and doesn't hold back on the dirty talking. He's also quite creative! ;)

description

We get to see a lot of growth for most of the characters. Savannah is finally handling things and Clay finally matures.

There were some iffy moments with Hayden and I could never decide if I could trust him or not. And there were some surprising moments with Chelsea that I was a bit shocked about. However, I loved how Liz handled things. There's more drama but better for you to experience it yourself.

I loved how things came back around. The correlation between things now and two years ago made things very intriguing and some even more special.

The chapter from Brady's POV was very enjoyable. I never thought of Election Day quite like that but in political families, it's understandable. I loved what it meant to him.

It was great that there was an epilogue. I was happy how things turned out. I only wished we got some updates on the rest of the characters!

I would definitely recommend this series. At first, I thought it might be too political but it's not. KAL manages to keep it real but also play up the romance...and ya gotta love that!

"I'll always be your airplane."

Reread 2021

Much as I still love Brady, I was taken aback by the jaw droppingly intrusive questions this couple faced from the media and it made me ponder the cultural differences between politics here and apparently in the US - would this actually be an issue? But even accepting the differences, would a political reporter seriously question whether their relationship was purely sexual or ask her if she’s a home-wrecker? Really? As a voter I’d be more interested in where the family’s money had come from, especially when little old ladies are being asked to donate to pay for his election expenses, than who he’s shagging, but ho him. Perhaps it’s just artistic licence, I don’t know but it struck me as very odd indeed this time around.

Re-read 2019. Still love it.

I have loved this series right from 'Off the Record', but excited as I was to get my hands on this third and final part of the story, my excitement was tempered by the prospect of no more Brady.

Ahhh, Brady...a man with power, influence, charisma who's also hot, gawjus and romantic fuels my little book inspired fantasies very nicely indeed, but I digress.

Much as I adored reading the second book, 'On the Record', I have to admit it was a little light on Brady time, and our powerful, influential, charasmatic and hot Congressman Brady Maxwell is what really made this series so great for me. In 'On the Record', Brady appeared from time to time, had a few scorching hot moments with Liz and then goes back to his
campaigning/meetings/kissing babies/whatever it is politicians do all day. That was really Liz's story. I was so pleased that this, the final book in the series, is all about both of them and their relationship - we have wall to wall Brady time and Liz time and especially, Brady and Liz time right the way through. Happy days.

'For the Record' picks up immediately where 'On the Record' finished and continues the intensity that had built up right into the first third of this book, so I settled straight in and I was loving this from the beginning. Now Brady and Liz's relationship is public, they are forced to contend with the pressures of a relationship conducted in the full glare of the media spotlight. Brady has been born and bred for public life, but Liz, although a journalism graduate, hasn't, and she has a really hard time coping with the unfair public image the media has created. Angsty? Well, yes it is, although because the angst is coming from sources outside of their relationship - his ex(es), her ex, the nasty redhead who was her ex's ex, even Brady's own campaign team - I didn't suffer many gut wrenching, reading-through-splayed-fingers-and-wincing moments in this as I did in 'On the Record' where we had to suffer the sight of Brady with his new girlfriend.

*shudders and closes eyes tight* That really hurt. This one, not so much.

The sex between Brady and Liz has been hot from the very first time in that hotel room in 'Off the Record', helped in part by the 'forbidden' aspect of having a secret relationship. Although their relationship is now public, we're saved from the prospect of boring couple bedroom sex by some really naughty exhibitionism whenever they get a chance. So they slip into a room at a packed political rally for a quickie, he stops an elevator, his fingers go exploring in a limo, and my personal fave, sitting on his knee, shielded by her skirt in a private box at the theatre, with their oblivious friends sitting nearby:
"She couldn't believe they were doing this. Yet she had no intention of stopping him."

Oh my...the smut had my kindle steaming away nicely. Brady and Liz have brilliant chemistry and the sex scenes are intense and frequent.

Brady really comes into his own in this as a perfect book boyfriend - a perfect mix of romantic and dirty talker, he buys her designer clothes and jewellery (which, as usual, she doesn't want to accept. I mean, seriously, what is with book girlfriends?), he wants Liz at his side and he's not afraid to tell her how he feels about her. I felt so many belly tingling, swoony moments at all the thoughtful and romantic things Brady said and did. I took a little longer to warm to Liz early on, some of her choices and decisions made me want to slap her, but at other times, when everything she'd worked so hard for started to come apart, I really felt her pain and shared her frustration. This author really does angst well.

And the epilogue...I have no words. Just perfect.

I dithered over my rating for this as most of it is a solid 5 star read, and the series as a whole is definitely 5 star for me. The only reason I hesitated with my rating is that, at times, I felt as though some scenes that I was really hoping to see were a little rushed over or summarized: Meeting the rest of his campaign staff, meeting her parents and particularly the reaction of friends and family to a major milestone in their relationship. That's just me though, I still absolutely loved this, but just would've liked to see how those scenes played out.

This has been my fave series this year, it has everything I love in a story. If you've been waiting for it to complete to pick it up, you're in for a treat. Highly recommended.

4 I’m Voting for Maxwell Stars

I was really surprised with For the Record. K.A. Linde is known for major angsty books. I feel like I’ve been on this up and down roller coast from Off the Record, but For the Record is not filled with hair pulling out scenes. It’s actually very adorable and will leave you smiling.

I have some reservations with Brady, I guess I can’t get over the whole hiding Liz and being away from her for a year kind of thing (even if it was Liz breaking up with him).

I feel like For the Record was Brady’s redeeming story. He had to step it up and prove to us he could be the book boyfriend I crave to read.

I believe the goal was achieved.

So, Liz and Brady are official and what are we to expect?

Lots of drama, lots of things on Liz’s part and lots of people trying to separate Liz and Brady. What I really loved about this one is that I felt like it was the couple against the world and for once they weren’t working against each other.

I love that Liz and Brady were a united front and I didn’t have to cringe throughout the book.

Liz is still insecure about the relationship because Brady put her on the back-burner for so long, she doesn’t know what is genuine. I actually liked reading Liz’s thoughts and I totally got her. I felt like she always wanted what was best for the relationship, but she was still trying to recover over the hurt.

I also loved reading about the other characters. I want books on Brady’s best friend, Brady’s brother, maybe even Hayden, okay, not him, but you get the point. Linde created such strong side characters, she made me a fan. I just want more!

I love this series and I love the political theme.

5 “Airplanes, baby” STARS

“I’ll always be your airplane.”
That’s right. Airplanes, baby.”

This final book in Congressman Brady Maxwell and Liz Doughtery’s relationship was AMAZING!

I’m a self-professed Brady-lover and let me tell you, Congressman Maxwell was in rare form in this book.

 photo FTR2_zpsb83acebc.jpg

Hot, sexy, commanding, sweet and downright dirty. Thank you Ms. Linde! I was in pure Brady heaven!!!

Liz and Brady are finally together and out in the open, under the glaring scrutiny and lights of the media

While happy together, their relationship was not without bumps along the way. These two just rocked my world! The chemistry, the banter, the begging, the teasing and the sex!! For instance...

"Brady motioned for Liz to take a seat in his lap facing forward. She did as she was told."

I don't know what it was about Liz and Brady but for me, they were perfect and their story was the right balance of angst, friendship, sex and love. Nothing was over the top and you saw how these two had grown, matured and felt secure with each other and their choices. I was giddy throughout this book and could not get enough!

 photo FTR_zps12a1c377.jpg

“Do I get forever?” he asked, his words as smooth as silk.
“Yes,” she murmured.
“Then it’s worth it.”

I absolutely loved every word and while I have a perma-grin, the only bad thing about it all is that their story is done.

But I am excited about Clay's book! I liked his cockiness from the get-go even though he could certainly be an asshole and over time, he has really grown on me.

Brady & Liz can no longer deny their feelings and after the article exposing their relationship was published, there’s no hiding their relationship. Although this love started years ago, these two have just a few weeks under their belt as a couple when they have to face not only the public scrutiny, his re-election and what this will mean for her career. But one thing is known for certain. It’s all worth it.

Brady stole my heart and won my vote easily throughout this series. KA knows how to deliver you a character that can both melt your panties and cause you to wring your hands. But with Brady I don’t think I doubted his true intentions (well, okay so Clay’s constant disdain in book two did make me wonder, just for a second though); he was a solid character throughout this series and gave her prior characters a run for their money.

I loved how Liz’s character grew in this part of the story. She had one goal and even when that got messed up by her choices, she realized that love was more important. She took what life handed her and made it work, discovered new goals that would allow her to have both: a career and the man she loved.

One thing that surprised me was that the angst was a little low in this one. But I think that stayed true to the story. With Brady trying to gain re-election the drama could not touch these two and still stay true to the path this story was going. That is not to say that these two didn’t hit bumps in the road, but they were just that, bumps.

I loved the mix of romance and politics in this series; that KA took from personal experience aiding in a campaign to begin this journey. But with politics you have to walk a fine line. You have to create a story that doesn’t feel like a political message. And she did that. The campaign was part of the story, not the politics.

Another fantastic series and I can only hope that the Maxwell siblings will get a chance to share their story with all of us. Because, come on – who doesn’t want to know what the hell is going on in Clay’s head?

Rating Clarification: 4.5 stars

This is only of those times when I wish goodreads had 1/2 stars rating. I think in this book we were able to see Liz grow and I was so glad that she wasn't as indecisive as she was in the second book. I was also so happy that we got so much more Brady in this book he was honestly my favorite character, he couldn't be any more perfect. I think my favorite part of this book was the epilogue, it was so sweet. However, the I would have liked to see what happened with . The reason I gave it 4.5 stars and not 5 is because I felt like there was something missing, I'm not quite sure but it just didn't think it was a 5 star read for me. I hope that Clay and Savannah get their own books too, I want to see what happens with those two. In all this was a great way to end this series and I'm glad I was able to read it :)

The final installment to the Record series has finally come, and Brady and Liz's heartache is over!

One thing I loved about this series is how the timeline spans years...and so much happens. Often I think authors don't give enough space for the couple to live their life outside of the angsty romance, and that does a disservice to the story. But as we all know, Liz and Brady definitely got to live their separate lives for awhile! Not that I particularly loved reading about that part, but it was a wonderful way to show me how much they actually meant to each other. No matter what life threw at them, no matter how they both tried to move on, they kept coming back to each other.

This book focuses on the "coming out" to the public for these two. And although they both know what to expect, it's still invasive and shocking. Especially when it becomes apparent that not everyone wants their relationship to work. Nothing like trying to build a life with someone you love while others try to sabotage it.

Of course, the angst level is high...I hear this author is known for that. But I still feel like it fits the story. Liz and Brady are young but also adults, with adult problems and adult lives. The sex is off the charts HOT, as always with these two. I got to live like I was rich and important for awhile, but it didn't get shoved down my throat either. That was just how Brady lived, and Liz (and I) got to go along for the ride. I enjoyed reading something that the author was obviously well-versed in...the political trail to office.

A nice end to a fantastic series. I will definitely be picking up Linde's future books and of course, her other series.

Me dejo con una super resaca, no me cansaría de leer mas de ellos.

OMG!! I have fallen deeply madly in LOVE with Brady Maxwell!

This review is basically for the whole series.

I will say I've had this on my to read list for months. For some reason it just never called to me. I bought it on audio cause it was on sale on Audibel.com for $4.95. I just have to say that it was the most well spent $5 bucks I've spent in a long while! So well in fact, I went right away and bought the next two books. I will also tell you the narrator was FABULOUS!

I never thought a story about politicians could so fucking engrossing! I was captivated from page one in book one all the way till the last page of book three! Literally I did a book a day. I was sucked in and trapped in the damn books!

Book two was a little frustrating when Brady was not it and I found myself putting it on 3 speed read to get the story faster lol.

Brady Maxwell is by far one of the hottest fucking characters on paper like EVER! I swear I was swooning thru out the whole freaking book! I wanted to jump in the book and scream PICK ME PICK ME!! Holy moly he was a hot ass motherfucker!!

Liz was kinda of annoying me in book 2 but overall she was strong and a awesome character as well.

The writing was awesome. Funny and sweet and suspenseful in all the right places. The plot was really gripping. All together really intense. And the series will definitely go down in my all time favs.

The last line of the last book gave me chills and almost made me cry I absolutely loved it! Freaking brilliant Ms. Linde!!

Definitely the best book in the series!! I'm so happy with how things ended for Brady and Liz! I definite3ly hope that Savannah & maybe even Hayden will get their own stories. I'm so intrigued to read Clay's book. I have a weakness for the black sheep of the family ;)

I can add another series to my list of "Series I Want to Finish in 2015" list. I read books one and two in this series (Off the Record & On the Record) last year, but I didn't have time to get to this book before 2014 the end of 2014. I really enjoyed Off the Record, but the last two books in the series didn't keep me interested. For the Record had some good moments, but overall I was really bored with it.

This short review may contain spoilers for the other books, so read at your own caution. Liz and Brady have been through the wringer, especially in the last book (where Brady finally got off the pot and went after Liz). This book was their time to be together. I think that was where the problem was with it for me.

The main conflict that propelled the series forward and kept me enthralled was gone. This book was filled with small manufactured conflicts that did nothing to keep me interested and weren't enough to support a full novel.

This is a contemporary romance trilogy featuring one couple. More often than not, I'm finding that trilogies featuring the same couple usually don't have enough real, believable conflict to necessitate three full books. I really liked the first book but I feel like the series could have been condensed into two books or maybe even one book (I know I've said this about other books).

For the Record read like a really long epilogue. Sure, there were issues that Brady and Liz had to deal with (i.e. Calleigh jacking around with Brady's campaign), but the book didn't hold my interest. Darn it.

1 star

* I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

POSTSCRIPT:
K.A. Linde announced that Brady's brother, Clay, would be getting a book, so I'm pretty excited about that one. Clay was one of those irritating characters who appeared to be causing trouble but really he was just misunderstood. There's no release date yet, but I hope it comes out sometime next year.

Add Struck from the Record on Goodreads

And more news!! Savannah is also getting a book! I hope this is Savannah and Lucas's story. I think there are lots of things that we don't know about them. Maybe Easton will make an appearance too!

4.5 stars!! As you can see, what started as reading an old book off my kindle turned into reading a whole trilogy in one and half days!! Why had I not read this series earlier? 1click fingers get trigger happy and many great books are lost in a list until one day you just flick the pages and click on them.

Brady Maxwell has kept me entertained for so many hours and has caused me to lose practically two nights sleep, reading until the kindle hit me in the face twice...but I reached the end at 3am on night two. I love political drama's and add to that a forbidden type love story and you cannot help but get emotionally involved with these characters.

KA Linde nailed the politics, nailed the chemistry, nailed the angst and while at times this trilogy did not go the way I wanted I always held out hope that true love would prevail, even if it was one heck of a journey to get there.

I will fully review this as a trilogy but I highly recommend this series (Off the Record, On the Record and For the Record)

ARC RECEIVED IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.

5 STARS

I LOVE Brady Maxwell. And he just keeps on getting better in each book. I'm SO sad this series is all over with but what a superb ending. This book picks up not too long after 'On the Record' ended. Brady gave suuuch thought provoking speeches when they were about Liz in this book. I swooned. It was great.

Liz had a lot of growth in this book as well. There was one particular scene where I thought she was going to do something that made Brady upset, but she did the complete opposite and Kyla did a great job showing that growth throughout the story. Brady also did a lot of growing. He's such a confident guy but Liz makes him softer and a better man. It was really something reading how politics really started to take a backseat when Liz was in the picture. The epilogue was one of my most favorite things about this book as well. I don't think anyone will disagree with that statement at all.

5 'I give you the stars' stars!

Brady Maxwell. Brady fucking Maxwell. I'm so sad this series is over, but so happy at how it ended. K.A. Linde is an automatic 1-click author for me. Every book she has written I have read and LOVED! But I have a special place in my heart for Brady. Especially the Brady we meet in For The Record. He's still the same Brady only he's grown as a person. Every word that came out of his mouth was pure gold. Pure perfection. PERFECTION!

I give you the stars. I already have mine. <----favorite line by Brady! <3

O.M.G. the theater scene was OFF THE CHARTS HOT! Their sex life definitely heated up in this one too. Every sex scene is scorching hot!!

Wanna know what I'm most excited about now? FUCKING CLAY MAXWELL! I'm so excited we are going to get his story!! GAH!! I can't wait for it!

This series is highly recommended from me!

My fingers are stuck…

Sometime reviews are hard, but at the same time the whole concept is pretty damn easy. You type how you feel about a book. Simple, right? Wrong. This is one of those time where I'm a little stuck.

I enjoyed this series. Truly. Off the Record left me begging for more, but I would be remiss in saying that I loved the final installment or that it ended as strong as it started. For the Record moved a little too slowly for me. Throughout the story, I thought something was building, subtle hints of drama to come, the big drama climax, but the issues all seemed to just wrap up. Nothing really exploded or came to head; it was a little anticlimactic.

I did love the conclusion, the epilogue and how the entire series wrapped up, but the plot in this particular installment just left me a bit wanting.

Overall, there is something that I truly loved about this series, something that makes me insanely glad that I had the pleasure of reading it. The politics. Wait….what? I don't really do politics, but K.A. Linde commanded this subject and she did it in a way that was fascinating and entertaining. It was great to read something so different for a change and something that the author is obviously very knowledgable about. It was great to step out and find something completely outside of the box. It brought a realism to the story and enhanced the romance. It made me glad I read it.

This particular book may not have been "the one" for me, but K.A. Linde is a helluva writer and I can't wait to see what she tackles next.

READ ON!

For the Record by K. A. Linden is a first reads win and I'm giving my honest opinion. Congressman Brady Maxwell of North Carolina is up for re election. He got caught with Liz. Press accused them of a sordid affair. Brady introduces Liz as his girlfriend. Heather, his press secretary is angry with with Liz. Liz's 'friends' released the story of Liz being a home wrecker and being a loose woman. Brady tells Liz not to worry about it. Liz loses her position of editor of the paper. Then her internship at the New York Post is rescinded. Her mentor at the university says when one door closes another one opens. She submits articles as a freelance writer with no by line. Her report from education reform is picked up by the New York Post. Reporters follow her on campus. She calls Brady and he sends a car for her. The car takes her to his parents home. His sister Savanna is Liz's friend. She takes her to the kitchen where the cook hands her a sandwich. Brady comes in and Liz asks him why he didn't tell her they were meeting here. He says he's used to taking charge. They make love just about Everytime they can. Liz gets accepted at graduate school. She goes on campaign Gama's with Brady. At times the yell vile things at her. Brady always defends her. The race is a close call.

Absolute perfection! I couldn't have asked for a better way to close the series.

Loved when liz fought back at heather & told her where to go – “why don’t you just shut the fuck up!”

Still love the format of liz's POV with the final chapter in Brady's POV.

And then that epilogue... Gave us everything we needed to know that they lived their HEA, followed their dreams & got what they always dreamed of having.

“The lowest lows bring the highest highs. And when you find someone who brings you both, that doesn’t mean you should walk away; it means you have something special.”

Their path to togetherness was long and winding filled with numerous obstacles, heart-breaks, misunderstandings, misery, passion, and sacrifices but Liz and Brady made it to the end. Their love for each other prevailed against all odds and that what’s make this third book in the series so much better and a compelling read.

Brady and Liz’s relationship is now out in the open and the newly reconciled couple is under more scrutiny from the media than ever. With Brady up for re-election, their every movement is being watched by the tabloids waiting for one slip from the couple’s side to turn it into the next big scandal. However, Brady and Liz have learned the hard way that no matter how difficult the situation may be, they need to trust each other at all cost and see this through not just because their respective careers are on the line but also because they are perfect for each other and because just sometimes the troubles you take, for the one you love so deeply, is just worth it.

“Your most romantic date is to lie in an open field and stare at the stars, but every day I’m with you is more romantic than the next. Romance had no meaning before you. So you must be my stars.”

Out of the three books, this might easily be my favourite in the trilogy. K.A Linde’s writing is effortless and superb. Even though, “How will they get back together” part of the story is all done, there is still so much tension, angst, and steam in the story. Honestly, Liz and Brady make some really stupid and infuriating decisions in the past two books, however, in this one, they are absolutely amazing together. It’s heartening to read how much they grew up not only as a couple but also as individuals. I was glad that Liz realized her self-worth at last and struck a perfect balance between her own career and that of Brady’s despite the initial roadblock she faced, I loved how beautifully she improvised her career. I was glad that Brady realized the importance of Liz in his life and stood up for and with her every single time. The important thing is that both of them learned from their mistakes. At last, they showed everyone how it’s done and that’s the best part of the book.

The only minor issue I had with this book is the excessive smut in it. I don’t have a problem reading sex scenes but sometimes there is what’s necessary and then there is the excess of it. I get that Liz and Brady can’t keep their hands off each other but I didn’t need to read their smut in almost every other chapter. That being said, I was glad that Hayden got a sort of redemption arc although it will still never justify his actions but well... and I am also glad that things worked out between Brady and Clay.

Overall, this has been a great series for me to read. It’s not perfect and honestly, sometimes it just went overly dramatic and I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes but I was also so invested in this love story of a young dynamic politician and an upcoming reporter. So, it was totally worth it. Also, Brady has some amazing lines in this book, which alone will make you fall in love with the idea of falling in love.

“They say the measure of a man is what he does with his power. I’ve come to find that I have no power without you.”
