Alot of this is now outdated in as much as it cannot be applied to today's world, that said some of it is still applicable and very much still in play. It is a good starting guide to Sutras and the Pali, but this book should probably be read in conjunction with discussions with a Sangha or with a vast amount of research to make sure that fits not only your own views but also the views of your Sangha

This is a great book for beginners and intermediate students of Buddhism; not for the knowledge of the texts but for knowledge of the way the texts are arranged.

With the right amount of annotations made by individual readers, this is a must have reference book for when you are looking for the contents of a certain sutta or when you want to find out which suttas talk about XYZ topic.
