Use intelligence to ignite the fire of one hot FBI agent.
Diesel
As a Cornell grad and former CIA operative, I've got the wits and thirst for danger to go deep into the shadows. Seeing my fair share of death and destruction, I never flinch when my life is on the line. But when I meet her, I know she's the only one who can truly destroy me.
Bryar
This damn serial killer investigation is going to be the death of me — literally. And now Diesel won't let up, protecting me like I'm some damsel in distress. He knows I'm far from it. My FBI badge and education matches him wit for wit and danger for danger. But let's be completely honest — Diesel has all the right fuel to ignite my fire. I just hope this doesn't all go up in flames.
This story of Diesel and Bryer’s efforts to stop a serial killer is none stop action and intrigue from beginning to end. From Bryer getting shot and then suffering a heart attack to Diesel taking over her complete care and realizing she’s it for him, makes for a wonderful page turning read! Can’t wait for the next instalment in this great series!

Code Name: Diesel is book 2 in the K19 Shadow Operations by Heather Slade and another great addition to this series.
Up next is Diesel and Bryar. After Bryar, FBI agent is shot during an ambush, Diesel’s reaction indicate more than just job related concern.
What happens next keeps you turning the pages faster to find out how this story ends and if they will figure out who the responsible for the kidnappings and killings…including the attempt on Bryar’s life…
This is a well balanced book of intrigue, twists, romance, and mystery. I appreciated the author being realistic about someone recovering from Injuries. So many books have the characters out fighting just after major surgery. Beware the serial killer mystery continues, so for me this is a cliffhanger .
You'll have to read the previous book to find out how FBI agent Bryar got shot. This series is keeping me on my toes. Diesel is a member of the K9 Shadow Ops and has a thing for Bryan. There’s mystery of a serial killer , who's trying to kill her, and a HEA. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Really really enjoyed it, till the end. No answers on any of the plots!
I’m so frustrated! This book was loads better than the first one. They took their time getting to know each other, no instant love, a really suspenseful plot that was getting exciting and it ENDED!! 😡😡😡 There’s a massive secret between Mayhem and Bryar and she tells Diesel at the end, but not the readers!! I’m assuming we’re supposed to read the next three books to find out. Well it’s backfired as I’m seriously not wanting to read anymore.
Bryar is an FBI who in the first book was badly wounded when she was shot. Diesel steps up to look after as she has no one else. When her health takes a dramatic turn it becomes obvious someone wants her dead. Why, we’re not told. Again I’m assuming it will be in the next few books. Diesel is so great with Bryar and they have a really slow build up in their feelings as she is really poorly.
The story continues from the first book, with the baddie having a lot of friends in this book that are carrying on with his plans. The serial killer plot continues, with no end in sight who it is, or even how many women he has killed. The FBI seem to have backed off to let a private company investigate it, which wouldn’t happen. I really didn’t like the way that Onyx treats Bryar. As the FBI agent who is supposed to be investigating the serial killer, Bryar is too poorly to do it, so Onyx and the K19 team shut her out deliberately as he doesn’t like her! Wow!
There’s a whole lot of negatives to this book, but I still loved it. Apart from the sex scenes which are really poor.
We met Diesel and Bryar in the last book; he's Ranger's best friend while she's the FBI agent assigned to work with our Shadow Ops team to track a local serial killer. Nearly killed in an ambush, Bryar is recuperating in the hospital and can't figure out why Diesel won't leave her side. But there's another victim - or is it two? - so the investigation must continue.
I loved how Diesel was surprised by how much he felt for Bryar, yet he didn't let anything stop him from giving her all the support - professionally and personally - that she needed. I loved how they still worked the case, how their professional sides blended so well together. I adored how their love grew slowly but steadily as they got to know each other better.
The serial killer investigation makes quite a lot of progress in this book, but it's not entirely resolved by the time Diesel and Bryar get their well-deserved HEA. The author sets up quite a few secrets to be revealed in future books, not just about the investigation but also about the main characters themselves. While this is a standalone romance, it's going to take the entire team working together to bring down the serial killer.
Several of our K19 favorites are on board to help with this investigation, especially Doc and Merrigan, as well as Shadow Ops leader Onyx. Ranger and Maisie are still in the thick of things, and we get to meet a few new faces too, one of whom has a mysterious history with our lovely FBI agent.
As always with this author, there's plenty of action and suspense and loads of swoon-worthy romance as Diesel and Bryar kick the serial killer manhunt into high gear. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves contemporary romantic suspense stories. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
If you are reading this series, I'm sure you noticed Diesel's reaction when he heard of the ambush on the prisoner escort in the first book. Especially when it comes to FBI agent Bryar Davies.
He knows exactly how long she was in surgery. When she calls him to tell him she's being released, he rushes to the hospital regardless that her boss Ryan Fitzsimmons want him at headquarters. He works for Onyx not the FBI.
We do have another kidnapping to worry about in this search for the serial killer. Patricia Fasano the psychologist who was working with Maisie. Even before that takes off into full swing, she's found and brought to the ER at the same hospital where Bryer is still a patient.
Diesel is going to question her if she's able, but first he goes to Bryar. It seems Pershing 'Admiral' Kane, her boss over Ryan was on his way here, presumably to escort her back to DC. Diesel has another idea though, one that gets a bit of twist when he discovers Bryar thinks he slept with Patricia Fasano. Something that never happened.
Things are about to get a whole lot worse for Bryar, beginning with an attempt on her life.
Now you'd think that would be enough, but dang it gets worse.
Aside from finding a leak in the FBI, the serial killer and kidnapper, there's now the plot to frame Bryar.
There's plenty of action, suspense, romance, and just a touch of sizzle as this next chapter of this new arm of K19 continues. I can't wait to read the next one!!!
This is the second book in the K19 Shadow Ops series. If you have not read the first book, it's a bit hard to follow as the backstory from book one comes into play but not enough for me as a reader.
Shadow Ops team is looking for a serial killer and Bryar is an FBI agent assigned to the task force to find and apprehend the serial killer before he or she kills again.
Bryar is shot transporting the prisoner and when she wakes up Diesel is there at her side. She also suffers a near fatal heart attack and that is when it becomes dicey.
Someone wants her dead and she can't understand who? Diesel and team are there to keep her safe. And Diesel takes it upon himself to be her personal protector. She can't understand why anyone would want her dead and with Diesel by her side as the story continues their feelings for one another bloom.
This story was packed with lots of twists, action, suspense, romance, passion, entertaining and interesting characters, friends, and more. In the end they get their HEA, but the case is far from closed.
What will happen next? I guess we'll find out in the next installment of the series when Code Name: Wasp comes out.
I can't wait to find out who is killing all the young girls and bring justice to their families.

I genuinely appreciate the lack of head games among Heather Slade's couples. Her female characters are strong regardless of their attraction toward alpha types. Despite tension between characters there isn't unnecessary angst to force drama. Instead, we're provided with a slow burn romance between Diesel and Briar built around the quest to resolve who's behind the mysterious abductions and deaths of 6 different women, who is trying to frame Briar, and unraveling who is still trying to kill her. Two books in and its still so weird seeing the very real names of all the places you lived while growing up in a book series. But in some ways that's also what makes this series which is so clearly fiction have a more genuine quality to it. Realistically, some places such as Speculator (which was so small there were only 6 children in my entire 1st and 2nd grade classes while I was a kid) once had a singular ma and pop shop or gas station, have grown a great deal since the 80s, and much of the long-term economic survival of some Adirondack Park communities does rely on our ability to draw tourism. Maisie's character is relatable because it reminds me of those working to revitalize our smaller communities while also maintaining their best interest and sustainability. I'm finding myself looking forward to discovering more work by this author.
Again, Ms. Slade, you absolutely did it! Regardless of how many K19 books, or offshoots, I read, you constantly keep me enthralled! Diesel and the good FBI agent, or is that the ignored until almost dying FBI agent were perfect for one another! I knew Diesel would get his own novel, but am thrilled she is integral to his, or she got her own novel as well. You gave us glimpses, since this part of K19, Shadow Operations began of Diesel's soon to heroine, but you certainly made her an individual whom was liked, actually a character you loved. She was so bright, but overlooked, or ignored by Shadow agents, simply because they did not know her, or that someone made her look bad before meeting her. But Diesel sees what others don't, and from there well it's a K19 novel, chaos... Add abduction, murders, the mob, cannot forget a psychopath or two, and you are off into lala land of K19, crazy! Every novel is spectacular, and each one keeps readers on their toes, oh and in my case, driving to where I am supposed to be versus reading! I loved it! But, Please, please, let Mayhem have his story! He to has been on the fringe and we gotten glimpses of the "Bear", but want more, please!l!!!!!!!!
K19 Shadow Operations Book two Diesel and Bryar’s story. Continuing with the serial killer still not apprehended and more kidnappings, ransom demands and murders of several more young women. Plus Bryar being shot and an agent being killed while transporting a prisoner. Once Diesel got to the hospital and was given access to her from her only living family he was pretty much her shadow, he left the hospital for a short amount of time to take care of some business and another attempt at her life with drugs causing her to go into cardiac arrest. Once she is out of the woods and is released he insists ghat she stays with him so he can protect her during her rehabilitation. As with the others in prior books you are not going to want to put this down once you start it. It has suspense, kidnapping, deception, danger, humor, off the charts chemistry, the characters were perfectly matched and were challenging for each other. Diesel and Bryar seemed to be having hurdles thrown at them from all sides and they did get some answers on a few, but not all. I am definitely looking forward to Wasp and Swan’s story, Book 3, and hopefully more answers. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
In the second book the K19 Shadow Ops, the story continues straight on from where Code Name: Ranger left off, so while this book could be enjoyed as a standalone, it is so much better going in with all the background info gained in the first book. Diesel's and Bryar's story starts with her in the hospital after a near fatal shooting and Diesel already struggling with this deepening feelings for her. While the whole team is continuing with the manhunt for the serial killer, Diesel must use all his wits and strenght just to keep Bryar alive. And all the while, both of them are slowly but steadily falling in love. As I expected from this author, there are a lot of twisty developments in the investigation and we meet a few new characters who'd make great heroes further on. Even though Diesel and Bryar get a very deserved personal happy end, the case is far from closed and will continue in the next installment, featuring Wasp. Gread addition to the series and highly recommended!

Diesel Jacks (K19 Shadow Ops, a private security and intelligence group) and FBI Special Agent Bryar Davies were wonderful characters, intelligent, strong, clever, and capable. When Diesel decides to take over the care of Bryar Davies, recovering from surgery after an ambush while transporting a prisoner, he just walks out on the new partner they assigned him and went to the hospital to pick her up. The FBI agent thought of himself as leader of the partnership and Diesel would have none of that nonsense. (I already adored the guy!)
The banter among the characters is amazing, hilarious, and moved the story along at lightning pace. The reader could feel the danger rising off the pages! And the chemistry developing between Diesel and Bryar could burn down the office, if they stayed in one long enough. Seriously, this was a great story line, excellent pacing, and perfect characters who knew how to let off steam and stay alert. Grab your copy and enjoy what these two get up to. This is a series I am definitely hooked on!
“Let’s be completely honest, Diesel has all the right fuel to ignite my fire. I just hope this doesn’t all go up in flames.” A well-written romantic, suspenseful story. I was disappointed with how it ended. It leaves so many things unanswered. I am looking forward to the next book.
Diesel is a member of the K19 Shadow Ops, a private security and intelligence firm. They're currently working on a serial killer case when things go south. An FBI agent has been shot, not just any FBI agent, but someone he knows. Now he's tasked protecting her while helping the FBI figure out everyone who was dirty in their organization.
Bryar is an FBI agent who had taken a hit when the team transporting a prisoner was ambushed on the way into the FBI field office in Albany. Now there’s a possible leak in the bureau and someone is trying to frame her. After days of investigating with K19 security, all evidence is pointing to Ryan, her boss.
A fantastic suspenseful romance where romance wasn't in the plans of either Diesel or Bryar. They are working a case "together" if you can call what the FBI and K19 Shadow Ops grudgingly share with other. Tensions are high when the case hits too close to home, targeting Bryar. Someone is a bit too informed it seems and the mystery accelerates. There's definitely an underlying heat between these two, but ain't nobody got time for that when lives are lost and more are threatened. I couldn't help but love Diesel and Bryar, both strong, determined and heroic! The dialog is witty, the story fast-paced, and the guy gets the girl in the end. Ahhh! While they do get their HEA, there are more loose ends of the backstory needing to be tied up. Great series with each book able to stand alone, it was much more thrilling for me to have read them in order and I can hardly wait for the next book(s)!
This is the 2nd book in the K19 Shadow Operations series featuring Diesel and Bryar's romantic suspense story. Diesel is working on the serial killer case when things go sideways and an FBI agent is attacked and it's someone Diesel knows. Bryar is transporting the prisoner when she's caught in an ambush and winds up getting shot she wakes up in the hospital following surgery to Diesel in her room. She has also suffered from a near fatal heart attack so it appears that someone wants her dead and Diesel has appointed himself her personal protector. There seems to be a potential leak in the bureau and someone's trying to set her up. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this suspense filled story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The romance and suspense kept me turning the pages. Just when we thought Bryar was out of danger, it found her again. Diesel vowed to protect her, but someone wanted her dead. They thought she caused the attack that almost killed her, but Diesel knew that she was innocent. Was Bryar the source of the leak that nearly caused her death? With a serial killer on the loose, the clock was ticking, and death was knocking at the door. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to those who like stories with mystery, romance, and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There were unanswered questions at the end of the book, and I hope we get them by the next story. You will want to read the previous book to gain a better understanding of the characters. You could read this story as a standalone, but it would be more enjoyable if you started from the beginning.
This is Diesel and Bryar’s story. Bryar has been helping the K19 Shadow Ops to find a serial killer and at the end of the 1st book in this series, Bryar was shot transporting a prisoner. Diesel hasn’t left her side since the shooting, her surgery and then another attempt on her life. He insists she stay with him for protection while she’s in recovery. A very well written storyline with plenty of suspense, danger, humor, chemistry and characters that were strong, very intelligent, protective and were perfect together. It does end without them finding the serial killer. Another hit for Heather Slade in this new series. Looking forward to Wasp and Swan’s story next with hopefully more answers as to the killer.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The hunt for the serial killer continues with the Shadow Ops team in the lead although the FBI think they're in charge. Junior Agent Bryar Davies is sharp tongued, focused, intelligent and beautiful. Let's just say she knows how to tick Caleb Jacks, AKA Diesel's, timer. Nonetheless he's interested. He becomes her protector, caregiver, sounding board and investigative mentor after she's severally injured during a prisoner transport. Someone is out to cause her trouble and even harm her further but Diesel et al, work diligently to find the culprit as well as keeping her safe. A compromised agent, a crime family, a suspicious medical professional and a childhood friend with a big secret are all mixed into this slow burn love story. Bryar has never been cared for the way Diesel does by seesing to her physical, medical and emotional needs. The more they're together, they better they fit.
Diesel and Bryar. He finally shows his feelings for and to her. She reciprocated and despite them being at odds with work commitments this couple will come out on top. They work together in respect of the kidnapping and murders of the missing women. Patricia and Ryan somehow are involved and frustrate, interfere with investigation but eventually are forced out into the open. Who was working with whom? Who tried to kill Bryar in hospital? What is the secret between Bryar and Mayhem? Another member of this security and protection series meets his match, his woman.

Code Name: Diesel is book 2 in the K19 Shadow Operations series by Heather Slade. We met Diesel in the first book. He is Ranger's best friend. I think you can read this without reading book 1 but would be better read in order. Diesel is on the Shadow Ops team. They are looking for a serial killer. Bryar is an FBI agent who was assigned to the serial killer task force.
Now someone wants Bryar dead. Can Diesel protect her? I love the romance between the couple. The chemistry feels real and I was drawn to them. The action and mystery kept me turning the page. I was at the end of the book before I knew it. Highly recommend this book and series to those who like a little intrigue with their romance.
This is the second in a series and although you can read it as a stand alone, I think it helps to have read the first one to fully understand what’s happening. Diesel is with Shadow Ops searching for a serial killer and Bryar is an FBI agent also working to find the serial killer with the task force she’s working with. When Bryar gets shot transporting the prisoner, she awakes with Diesel by her side. She is a fully capable FBI agent so she bristles a bit at Diesel feeling like he has to protect her. But as we move forward, there are a lot of issues that bring suspense and action. But you also have the feelings between Diesel and Bryar becoming a beautiful love story. If you want to find out who the serial killer is, you’ll have to read the next book in the series.
The second chapter in the K19 Shadow Operations series. Diesel inserts himself to take care of Bryar, an FBI agent injured in the line of duty. He should have been on that mission, but he did not go and he feels guilty. It's a sweet love story, but filled with a serial killer on the loose. Talk about intensity, everyone is scrambling. Loved their sweet moments alone, reading in bed, using grandma and Mom voices with each other, and only lasting until pages 10 and 15. Throw in your favorite other characters from the K19 series and you have another hit. Totally loved it, it was a roaring fire for sure.
This is the second book in the K19 Shadow Operations series. I recommend you read book one before reading this one. While Ranger and Maisie found their HEA in book one there is a secondary story arc that continued into this book and will also continue into book three. Diesel and Bryer definitely have a bumpy road to find happiness together. They've been butting heads since the FBI sent her out to investigate a serial killer. I love that Diesel is protective of Bryer but also realizes that she can protect herself. Loved their story and can't wait until Wasp and Swan's story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in the K19 Shadow Operation series by Heather Slade and it can be read as a standalone (but characters from previous book do make an appearance). Shadow Ops operative and FBI agent Bryar Davies (who is working with the Shadow Ops) are assigned to investigate a serial killer in the Canada Lake area. The chemistry between Diesel and Bryar is instant, but then Bryar gets shot. Diesel's protective instincts kick in and he's determined to keep her safe and catch the killer. I truly enjoyed the story and the characters were amazing. I can't wait to read the next book in this series to find out what happens next!
This is the second book in this latest wonderful series and it as all of the hallmarks of Heather's work non stop action a swoon worthy alpha male lead and a heroine that sometimes you have to shake you head at
Diesel is the best friend of Ranger and is also a member of the shadow ops team They have been tracking a serial killer and their FBI contact is Bryar when she is shot and suffers a stroke Diesel is determined to care for her even if she isn't sure why. Soon Bryar is in the eyes of a killer and it will take all of Diesels skill to keep her safe We also get more leads in the serial killer case but it isn't solved yet setting us up for the next installment in this wonderful series
While this is a standalone, I recommend you read Code Name: Ranger first to stay within the timeline of the story and somethings will make more sense. Diesel has a thing for FBI Agent, Bryar, who is wounded before the book starts. She has been in town working on the serial killer case that K19 Shadow Operation group has been involved.
This is a slow burn romance as Bryar is either the hospital or recovering most of the story. The sparks are there, the banter between the two show the chemistry that is lying under the surface.
I cannot wait for Wasp's story that is coming next in the series.

Another winner from Heather Slade. The overarching story continues but we get an HEA for Diesel and Bryar. We also run into other agents that we’ve met and some we haven’t. Of course I’d probably be happy with any K19 agent since they are all hot, smart and savvy. I’ll just have to race to get one before some other strong, smart and self sufficient woman beats me to it. Great characters, both male and female. An exciting and fast paced storyline and enough mystery to keep you wondering how it will all turn out. Can’t recommend this author highly enough. I “think” I’ve read all of the books and they are all keepers! Grab it (and any/all of the others too).
