Grinded is book 3 in The Invincibles series by Heather Slade and what an amazing love story!
Matt “Grinder” Stone and Pia Deltetto meet in Italy at the tender age of 16, find love and romance except fate has other plans. We see them finding their way back to each other only to separate again and again. Now 10 years later Grinder realizes Pia is in danger and is determined to do whatever it take to protect her and win her heart for all eternity but can Pia trust him or will he leave her like before...heartbroken and alone?
Book number three and you think Heather Slade can’t possibly get any better with the Invincible Series. Well hang on tight cause you are in for the read of your life. While reading Miles and Pia’s story you are going to be all over the place with emotions, also quite a taste of suspense, danger, drama, and mystery. The chemistry and the immediate connection between the characters was amazing from the moment their eyes met. There were so many times I was literally on the edge of my chair trying to get to the last word on the page in order to turn the page for more more more. Can’t hardly wait for book four to come out. This is without a doubt one of the better series that I’ve read and enjoyed. Definitely would recommend! Love Love Heather Slade’s books. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
You read how Grind and Pia meet and what separates them then you learn what happens to Grind that keeps him and Pia apart as you read more about what is going on in Grinds life and in Pia's life and when they finally get together Pia's past and what she doesn't know about catch up to them. I enjoyed reading ths story and recommend it!!!!
This book was set up completely different than the author's other works, which mostly focus on the present time with a few flashbacks if the couple has a history. But this one is all about the history! Miles and Pia are each just 16 years old when his English family vacations at her Italian family's winery. They barely spend any time together, but it was enough to make an impression that would last a lifetime.
The story then follows both Miles and Pia as they move through the next decade, seeing each other very infrequently but keeping their relationship alive through letters. The few short moments they have together are so romantic, so filled with the depth of their feelings for each other, but the very separate paths each is taking keep them from really coming together for the first half of the book.
Once we've caught up to the present time, it's obvious that these two belong together and it's time to get everything else out of their way. I loved the way Miles proved his devotion, how he stood by Pia as she faced the truth about all that had happened. The layers of loyalty and betrayal surrounding the winery were brilliantly written to tease out the suspense before clearly revealing all the secrets. I loved the sneaky little detail that the author hinted at from the beginning and how it turned into being the biggest surprise ever!
I struggled to remind myself that this was all fiction, as Miles and Pia felt so real from the start. Their HEA is rock-solid and very satisfying in how it tied up all the loose ends. This author's books are like potato chips - you can't stop at just one - but if you're only going to read one, this is the most romantic one of all. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Miles Stone saw her the first day he arrived at a farmhouse on her vineyard. He would always remember the beautiful brunette who captivated him with her romantic aura and sweet smelling perfume. Life would take Miles away from her more than once; but their love for each other will draw them across the miles that separate them more than once.
Pia Valtetto was only a teenager when she met the love of her life. He was the British boy she’d met at her home one summer while his parents vacationed at her vineyard. Her whole life was already planned out for her by her father. She thought she would never she her Mylos again. Fate would draw them back together.
Heather Slade has written a story of two star crossed lovers. Each with secrets of their own. Entrenched in an age old mystery surrounding an old Italian family vineyard in spectacular Tuscany. Her ability to write lies in her strength as a storyteller for creating a beautiful story of love, intrigue and military intelligence which she intertwines with her Invincible men. It will have you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering who will live and who will die. No detail is left unturned.
You will be pulled to turn each page. Through tears, laughter and finally undeniable love. Ms Slade grips you from page one and continues to entice you throughout the twists and turns to bring you on a journey you won’t soon forget.
Bella Madre di Dio you won’t want to miss this five star release.
I absolutely adored this journey of true love and the test of time! Miles, or Mylos, as Pia called him, and Pia started their journey at only age sixteen, what their hearts knew then, but their minds were simply not ready to acknowledge. This culminated into 10 years of living and experiences, both good and bad for them, mostly apart, but somehow always leading back to the other-feel good sighs here. The depth of feeling pours from these pages. It's not all hearts and flowers, some experiences just made me cry, feeling utterly wretched for Miles (Grinder) and Pia. Pride goeth before a fall, comes to mind here. Miles turned away from everyone, and Pia, always too proud to admit troubles and ask for help, buried herself in her family's winery. Their love was truly tested, and the heat never abated! Current times are still filled with treachery, twists, and suspense, the very notable tropes that Ms. Slade is so well known for and weaving into a beautiful romance. Many surprises throughout. This will give you a happy sigh worthy HEA. A fast paced stand alone, but part of a series. Will meet up with several new characters as well as a few of the beloved characters we are already familiar with. Not necessary to read, but recommended for the goodness that is the The Invincibles series. A bit of change up for Ms. Slade as well, as this was written in dual, 1st POV. Job very well done! I received an ARC courtesy of #HeatherSlade through #BookSprout, and am giving my honest thoughts and opinions freely!
Grinded is a story of love that blossoms in young adulthood. It's periodically nurtured over a 10 year period before circumstances bring Grinder and Pia together and the journey to their HEA truly begins.
Over the intervening period, Miles 'Grinder' Stone and Pia Deltetto live their lives apart, working on realising their career goals.
They each face challenges that shape the people they become but they have a chemistry, a link, that never really severs despite misunderstandings and poor decisions.
The story of 'Mylos' and Pia is one where our hero and heroine have to work hard for their love and life together.
I found the format of this novel quite different in style from what I've read from this author before but it doesn't detract from the story and in fact adds to the reader's understanding of the characters.
Although 'Grinded' can be read and enjoyed as a standalone, I like the way that well loved characters from previous novels or series, make cameo appearances.
This series is a little different than the last but the guys are just as torn when it comes to their personal lives. Balancing their work and their personal lives isn't easy especially when the mission ends in an devastating injury. She caught his eye and his heart but years have passed and the short spurts of time do not a relationship make. This was not only a read with action and of course danger it's also an emotional one. This time the danger and action have had a deep hand in her life and now that he's pulled his head out of his butt and put his duty to the Invincible's on hold he may finally get all he's dreamed of if it isn't too late.
Love this author and her guys, but Grinded takes your heart too. These guys are all action and duty until the heart makes them stand for more, and they are all in. They want it all and will do what it takes to not only protect and serve for their country but for the women that steal their hearts and make them beat a new tune.
Miles and Pia met as teenagers and fell in love. That first meeting during a vacation cut short, but they wrote to each other. They almost totally miss each other after high school graduation but manage a day. Then they finally get together before Grinder is shipped out on a very dangerous mission.
This mission doesn't end well for Grinder, and severely injured he pushes everyone away, including Pia.
Now Pia's Vineyard is in trouble and the people who should be helping her are causing her more headaches than help. Paolo the once boyfriend offers some help in the form of her traveling with him to sell her wine.
It's on that trip to London that she runs into Miles again. Their reunion is explosive and then Miles gets called away without being able to say goodbye.
So much happens in this book, there's lots of suspense, plenty of intrigue and kindle melting heat as pieces to the puzzle come together.
I really can't wait for the next book in this series!
Two young people fall in love, and life separates them for ten years. So much happens to both of them. Grinder is a wounded hero who does not think he is lovable. Pia is doing all she can to save her family’s winery. Their separation is heartbreaking because life would have been easier for them had they found a way to be together. Will their love survive distance and heartache?
Pia’s winery is failing, and bad things keep happening. Are they accident, or is there something sinister at work? When Grinder finally finds out about Pia’s troubles, will he be able to help?
I loved this story. It kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed the romance, mystery, and suspense. What Grinder and Pia go through may cause you to reach for that box of tissues you should keep handy. If you enjoy romantic suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat, you will want to read this story.
This is a story of family, friendship, and love. Some scenes are very emotional and others are romantic with sexy time. Grinder has gone through a lot, but his heart has always belonged to the beautiful Italian girl, Pia, he met when he was 16. Pia and Grinder’s relationship is not conventional as this story spans over ten years. It’s hard not to smile when a book takes places in Italy. It’s hard to beat a setting of a vineyard in Tuscany. This book describes how “The Invincible Intelligence and Security Group” is originality formed. This book that takes place over a decade, and therefore overlaps the first two books and even includes key scenes from Edge’s and Decker’s stories. I like when an author takes this approach. The other men of the Invincible Group are on hand to support Grinder, especially when he discovers Pia is in danger. The author gives more insight into complex personality of Rile. Now I can’t wait to read his book next.
This is the story of Grinder & Pia. Grinder is sixteen years old when his family goes to Italy to the Valentini Estate for a summer vacation. Pia is the heir to the Valentini Estate. That's when they meet. This is a very drawn out love affair. Things keep happening to keep them apart, mostly things that happen in Grinder's life. I love Grinder and Pia, two totally different people. There are many emotions that are felt through all the years, and you feel every one of them. Yes, there is an HEA. A very well written story, which I've come to actually expect of Heather Slade. She is just that good. Kudos, Heather Slade, for another great book. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
Grinded book 3 in The Invincibles series was a great story by Heather Slade this is a story about young love, heartbreak, danger and trust. Miles Stone "Grinder" is a sixteen years old and in Italy with his parents when he becomes intrigued by the beauty Pia Deltetto. This is a time of innocences and young love with these two, but circumstances have sent them down separate roads. They will come face to face but sometimes things just get in the way. This is just the start to a great story that will have you waiting to see what awaits these two around the next corner and it only keeps you hoping and cheering for these wonderful characters . It will definitely have you on an emotional roller coster and pull at your heartstrings. I absolutely loved this story and I highly recommend it.
Grinded is the story of Miles, aka Grinder, a founding member of the Invincibles Security firm. As a teenager he met Pia when he and his parents vacationed in Italy. For the next 10 years, Miles and Pia seemed out of sync in their relationship. Miles served in the military and was injured in an IED explosion which nearly took his life. Pia, on the other hand, continued her education regarding her family's vineyard. When Miles and Pia finally get together, much has changed. Pia is trying desperately to hold on to the vineyard when Miles arrives in Italy to investigate the accidents which have plagued the vineyard. This novel is a high-octane, romantic suspense with fabulous character development and plot. A 5-star read that will keep you turning pages long past bedtime!
Miles and Pia meet as teenagers and fall in love. They are separated by life, by backgrounds, by events, pretty much by everything but they are tied together. Miles is injured and rejects Pia until he finds that she is in danger. She'll have to trust him to protect her, save her business and heal her heart. Excellent story.
This author writes an excellent book with page turning suspense, enough mystery to keep you guessing and a passionate love story between true soul mates that have always known they belonged together in spite of the world around them. You won't want to put this down so plan accordingly. It is a standalone and has a wonderful love story in a well written story that is a fast paced adventure with a strong romance.
Wow this was such a heartfelt suspense romance filled with star crossed lovers, danger, family secrets, a hidden treasure, greed, a secret baby, betrayal, second chances, passion, family, friendships, and love. Grinder has loved Pia since he was 16 years old yet time and circumstances have always separated the two. Now when Pia needs him most, Grinder will risk anything and everything to protect the woman he loves. Grinded is a captivating must read novel from Heather Slade that readers won't be able to put down. Readers will fall in love with Grinder and Pia's story. I can't wait for the release of the next and final book in the series.

This was such a wonderful read. I really enjoyed the whole overall feel of this book. I thought that this romance had a relatively unique slant that felt quite fresh. Miles and Pia are characters that quickly sneak into your heart and will have you rooting for this couple every single step of the way. The path that these two must travel on the road to a HEA is long and filled with obstacles they must overcome. The engaging story line keeps you focused with a compelling blend of suspense, drama, deep emotion, danger, action, mystery and romance. An overall great read. This is my frank, freely posted review.
A little bit of an unusual story for Heather Slade. We do have our MI5 agent, one of Rile's best friends, so the story ties in with the other stories. But this love story starts when both are teenagers and we observe Grinder's and Pia's love grow stronger, go through with the fear of being rejected, when wounded in war as well as Grinder's fight to protect Pia from machinations she had inherited together with her vinyard. Fast-paced and thrilling at times, slow and romantic at others, it is an interesting blend, that keeps the reader engaged in the story throughout. Another beautiful suspenseful romance from Ms Slade. Miles(Grinder) and Pia meet at her family's winery when they are 16 years old and immediately feel a connection. Life, pride, and misunderstandings separate them over and over again for ten years. Underlying all is the mystery of why so many misfortunes befall Pia's family and their business. But the mystery is not the main focus of this book, however. That belongs to the timeless romance between Miles and Pia. As always with Ms Slade's books, the characters are so very engaging and the story tight and well developed. I have read everything by this author and have never been disappointed. I suggest you read them for yourself!
Pia and Miles aka Grinder met as teenagers and had an instant attraction but as it happens with life they were to be separated many times amid several tragic situations, death, betrayal and evil people.
I totally recommend this book, as the plot is a pager turner with twists and turns that make the story so interesting. Grinder and Pia are really good characters and my heart hurt every time life kept pulling them apart. Grinded is a sexy love story, a bit of a mystery, with pain, tears and some really mean people definitely doing some evil stuff. Grinded is part of a series but it can easily be read as a standalone. I totally enjoyed this book.
4.5 Stars This is the book 3 in The Invincibles series and it features Miles “Grinder” Stone and Pia Deltetto. These two have been drawn to each other since they were teens and love each other deeply. Even though they haven’t been together all that time, their lives have managed to intermingle here and there through the years. There is a lot of story dedicated to their past. The mystery and suspense of the curse is fantastic!
As always, this author has covered all the bases in this complicated but easy to understand plot. I like that this mystery takes place over the years and takes serious digging to uncover it all. This is another awesome book by this very talented author!
Grinder and Pia. Different from the other books m, except for Laird and Sorcha, as it goes back in time and shows us the duration of their relationship. Through multiple POV we got 10 years of them growing and trying to be with each other, but family/life/goals had other ideas. The danger to Pia was predictable in terms of the bad guys, but the government component was unexpected and quite interesting! The stone talisman was epic and I loved its story. The Nonnas were sweet and I loved the direct family members on both sides. The story was a quick read and quite enjoyable. A great addition.m with a quick little cliffhanger for Riles story!
I totally enjoy this series but found some frustration in this particular story. Pia and Grinder meet when they are young. Too young to be serious, and they must travel at their family’s whim. They meet again just prior to college and military, which again keeps them apart. Reactions to a horrific accident creates an additional rift.
Two souls meant to be together may find a way – but theirs is not an easy road.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
What a great love story between Miles (Mylos) Grinder Stone and Pia Deltetto. A teenage summer love that continues on despite time and miles apart. Wonderful suspense, angst and great characters. There is loss along with the love. Grinders buddies in the Invincibles help to ensure the solve the mystery of the villa/vineyard that Pia owns. As with many of Ms. Slade’s books, I had a difficult time putting this book down and often read in the night when I should have been sleeping! Exciting read!
LOVE OVERCOMES THE WORST OF OUR THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review
Myles Stone, Mylos, earned the moniker Grinder after going through military training and joining MI5. He met Deltetto when they were sixteen. On again and off again correspondence led them to believe the wrong things about each other and soon ten years had gone by. The story tells of love lasting through injuries, self-destructive moods and struggling to find oneself in a time of hardships.
Pia and Miles met and fell in love when they were sixteen. He and his parents vacationed at her family’s vineyard that summer which was cut short. They keep in touch through letters and meet again for a day after high school graduation. This seems to be there pattern to meet for short periods and then part again. There is so much happening in their lives and the suspense, intrigue and romance kept me reading. I enjoyed this poignant second chance romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
