Dial M For Mates #3

Wrong Number, Right Unicorn

Rate this book
Sometimes the wrong number is the exact one you need.

When I bought my house, I promised my grandfather that I would always have a landline. He might be gone, but the phone remains, just where it always was. When it rings in the middle of the night, I jump out of bed to answer it. The last time this happened, the news on the other end wasn’t good. At least now it’s either a scammer or a wrong number. No bad news comes from that, right?

Before I can say, “Hello,” the person on the other end starts telling me, through sobbing tears, that they need me down at the station with bail money for Grams. I try to tell him I’m not who he thinks he is, only to have the line go dead.

I could go back to bed. Nothing’s stopping me, but also… Grams is going to be in that cell for a long time if someone doesn’t let the man on the other end of the phone know he got the wrong number. It has nothing to do with the way his voice had my beast perking up. Nope. Nothing at all.

Wrong Number, Right Unicorn is a sweet with knotty heat MM Mpreg romance featuring a human whose grandmother thinks it is a good idea to moon a policeman when he helped her reach the all-night pharmacy, the unicorn he accidentally calls for help, true love, fated mates, an adorable baby, and a happy ever after. If you love your alphas hot, your omegas strong, and your mpreg with heart, download your copy today.

Wrong Number, Right Unicorn is the third book in the Dial M For Mates series. Each book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the rest of the series. This is a sweet low angst quick read. The story is about Errol a human omega and Davien an alpha unicorn shifter. Davien gets a call in the middle of the night from a wrong number asking for bail money for Grams. What's a guy to do but bring the money. I love these two so much, they both are just sweet guys. I think Grams is one of my favorite characters. I really enjoy the way Colbie and Lorelei write the characters and world building put into this series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

This story follows Davien, who keeps a landline as a promise to his late grandfather. When the phone rings in the middle of the night, past experiences make him wary, but this time it’s just a wrong number—or so it seems. On the other end, Errol is in distress, begging for bail money for "Grams," unaware he’s called the wrong person. Davien could ignore the call, go back to bed, and let it go—but something about Errol’s voice stirs something in him. Now, he faces a choice: get involved in a stranger’s late-night crisis or walk away.

This was an enjoyable story which was a mix of unexpected connections, intrigue, and a hint of unspoken attraction wrapped up in a seemingly random yet fateful call. I liked Davien and his unicorn who was quite amusing. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

Wrong Number, Right Unicorn is the third book in the ‘Dial M for Mates’ series. It stars Errol, a human omega, and Davien, an Alpha unicorn. This is told in first person from Errol and Davien’s povs.

3.5 Stars

I’ve read the first two books in this series and this plot is laid out the same way. An Alpha shifter gets a hysterical phone call from someone who desperately needs help. The blurb sets up the background to when Davien receives the phone call. It doesn’t tell who the character is however. I think the blurb would work better if Davien’s name was placed above the blurb to introduce him and not make it sound like a ghostly voice is speaking.

The plot follows the same setup as the previous books. The Alpha comes to the rescue of the omega and the shifter inside him recognizes their mate, and wants to claim their mate and then shift to show them who they are. Davien’s unicorn speaks to him and their interaction is one of the humorous aspects of the book. This type of communication happened in the other two books also, and I always found it to be one of the more fun parts of the stories.

I liked this book a bit better than the first two. One of my quibbles was that many of this author team’s stories, the human mate far to easily accepts that the person they’re attracted can shift into an animal and then doesn’t take days or weeks to process the information, which would be far more realistic and add more tension to the story if the tension was worked into the story. Errol accepting Davien as a unicorn shifter was more easily solved and worked better because Errol was prepared his whole life to believe in unicorns so much that he wanted one. His grandmother, Grams told him about unicorns, and Errol had a unicorn tattoo. So, he’s already eager and willing to believe in finding a unicorn. I thought that was a good way for the authors to set up a human accepting shifters, and it worked. It was believable for a fantasy story.

As to Errol and Davien, they’re pretty much the same kind of characters found in the author’s other fluffy stories. The Alpha is considerate and the omega is sweet. The addition of Grams as a side character was a good idea. She added some interest to a plot that would’ve been the same old omega verse story. I did find it odd that both men couldn’t figure out that Errol was pregnant. I would think that Errol would know more about symptoms because he was an omega. I would also think that Davien’s unicorn could sense a change in Errol, but neither of those things happened.

I did notice far too much monologue during the second half of the book. I don’t know if it was because most of the action situations were solved in the first half, or because Davien and Errol started to explain more about what they thought, and felt, than they did in the first half. I wanted to skim read but I didn’t. This affected the star rating. I’d like to give Wrong Number, Right Unicorn, 3.5 stars because of far too much monologue, but the plot and characters were cute, and the segues worked well enough from scene to scene, so I’ll raise the stars to 4 Stars.

Meant for Each Other . . .

Davien is an Alpha unicorn shifter, kind of an introvert while his unicorn craved admiration and attention . He was tired and ready for bed, ignoring his unicorn’s fake demand for food just so he could shift. He had promised his now deceased grandfather that he would keep a landline installed in the house. But hearing it wake him from sleep in the middle of the night can be startling. Expecting a scammer or a mis-dial, he reaches for the phone and answers the call. A male voice is very upset, sobbing and saying that he needs bail money for his gram who has been arrested and is being held in Stanmore Police Station. Then he hangs up. Davien considered going back to bed. But if the guy was telling the truth, tears and all, he couldn’t leave the older woman to spend a long time in jail if the call was serious and no one arrives with the bail. Also, his unicorn was urging him to check the guy out because something in his voice was very enticing… and he knew Davien would figure it out when he met the sweet Omega Errol.

The entire storyline will keep the reader laughing and loving the fun characters. From the scene at the all-night pharmacy when Errol’s grandmother threw a basket at a security guard, then mooned the policeman and gave Errol the “wrong” phone number to get bail from Julian, the action never stops, nor does the laughter. And there is so much more on the way! Grab your copy and enjoy this amazing story!

Part of the Dial M for Mate series each reads as a standalone mates find each other by mistake. Davien is sweet if not a little weird in a very good way when his grandfather was alive he promised his grandfather he would always keep a landline for emergency but since he has passed of course no one calls that line but scam, telemarketers, wrong numbers 😊 and most times he ignores them but that last call he couldn’t ignore the call so heads to the police just as panic as the caller to assist. Errol is a shifter by no means stressed dealing with his grandma who is displaying some very weird behavior well weirder than normal so when she is arrested, she gives him a number to call for help he dials the number or so he thought but ending up dialing the wrong number sobbing pleading that he needs bail money for his gram who has been arrested and is being held in Stanmore Police Station. Unable to just ignore the call just case there was an older women stuck in jail needing bail his unicorn wasn’t going to allow him to let it go either way the moment they meet the magnetic pull is there but where will it lead him, will his omega accept all of him, will they figure out what is going on with grandma, and is there some form of happiness along the way?

This was a great book. Davien (A) and Errol (O) were very cute together. I wish there was a bit more in the unicorn aspect of the book but it doesn’t take away from the story, though it definitely would have added to it.

Grams was… interesting. She went to way too many doctors and either they were neglectful in finding out what meds she was on or she was neglectful herself for not properly informing them what she was on. I love how close she got to Davien and her surprise gift for them toward the end. I kind of wish there was a confirmed reason for how she seemed to know the things she did and about her beliefs in unicorns.

It was nice that they had at least one family member in their lives in Grams since Davien’s may of well not existed and Errol’s was, to be honest, I can’t actually remember but I do know that they aren’t in the picture but are apparently still alive. Davien’s parents did get more involved after the baby was born but in my opinion, they were pretty crappy parents. I mean, what happened to Davien was awful and instead of being there for him as parents are supposed to be, they just let him go stay with his grandfather and then practically dropped out of his life instead of supporting him. Davien kind of acted like it was partially his fault for becoming estranged with them but he was a teenager when what happened happened and his parents were the adults, it should of been their responsibly to reach out to him, not the other way around. I personally don’t think his parents should have been brought back into his life after mating with Errol without at least apologizing for what happened, which they didn’t.

Overall though, I really liked the story and I’m glad the epilogue gave a good future view.

Wrong Number, Right Unicorn is an omegaverse MM romance by always wonderful Colbie Dunbar and Lorelei M Hart. For those that love their MM m-preg shifter romances, this will be a sweet and satisfying read. And fans of the writing team will also know what to expect and not be disappointed.

The premise is quirky, unicorn shifter Davien always promised to have a landline phone for his grandfather to call him. Now that his grandfather has passed away, no one calls him on that phone except for telemarketers and scam callers. Davien is a sweet and charming man, something that is made clear when he goes to the police station after a panicked call from a stranger on the landline.

Errol is human and has lately become stressed out when it comes to his grandmother. Her quirky behavior that was normal seems to going from odd to outright dangerous. When Gram is arrested, she gives him a number of someone to call. What Errol didn't realise was that it was a wrong number and it would lead to his meet cute with Davien.

While navigating a sweet and steamy romance and potential mating, these guys also need to figure out how to best help Gram. The unicorn's nose knows that something isn't right.

Davien is not only sweet, we get to know a stubborn and strong willed guy with a tender heart. He is the perfect match for Errol. Errol is an alpha with a lot of depth and emotion. I really enjoyed getting to know these two.

This Wrong Number story has a rather opinionated unicorn and a very memorable Grams. The omega is harried, but sweet, and a little sleep deprived. The alpha is curious, kind. The type of alpha who gets up in the middle of the night to bring bail money to a stranger.
When he inherited his grandfather's house, Davien kept his landline in memory of the man who raised him. When he bought his childhood home from his parents, Errol kept the landline as it was a phone number his grandmother knew.
The story keeps with the premise of connecting with your mate through a wrong number. But the characters Dunbar has populated this story are zany and interesting, and they make this story quite fresh. And fun.
Davien's shifter side is extremely literal minded, so some of the inner dialog he shares with his human goes completely over his head. He doesn't care for caffeine. More than one cup of coffee makes him jittery. The unicorn is a vegetarian, while Davien is not. They don't agree about bacon.
There is a pregnancy and a baby, as per the parameters of the series. But the delivery is original, as is the shifter reveal.
I've liked the stories in this series, some more than others. Right Unicorn is my favorite of the lot. (Not gonna tell the dragon!). It's a lite, fun read just the right size for a lazy afternoon. There's humor and sizzle here, as weel..

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I enjoyed this book and thought that it was another good addition to the Dial M for Mates Series. This is a book about fated mates so their relationship moves at warp speed. Davien, a unicorn shifter receives a call from a stranger requesting bail money for Grams since she’s been arrested. Davien tries to explain that he obviously has the wrong number but his unicorn tells him that he should help, and he listens to his beast. Errol, hasn’t had it easy and has noticed his Grams hasn’t been herself lately but things come to ahead when Grams is arrested for the antics she pulled at the 24 Hour Pharmacy.

Errol in his panic rings the number that Grams told him to call if he needed help. The last thing Errol expects is a stranger to show up with bail money for Grams. He doesn’t initially want to take it but after a moment agrees with the promise of paying Davien back, the two swap numbers, start chatting which turns everything. I thought that Davien and Errol were great together. I thought Grams was an absolute hoot and I’m glad that her health issues got sorted. I’ve already pre-ordered the next book, Wrong Number, Right Santa which I’m looking forward to reading it when it’s released in December. I’d recommend this book, series and authors to others.

I absolutely love this series and always excited to see a new one come out. Good world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Davien and Errol.

I really liked Davien's quirky unicorn, and enjoyed learning what unicorns were like in this world.

'And my beast liked— even expected— to be admired. It was the way of unicorns. They were put on this earth to be beautiful. Or so he told me.'

I also liked that Davien and his unicorn were opposites- Davien was an introvert and the unicorn wanted to be the center of attention. As an introvert myself, that contradiction with my inner animal would stress me out lol

Speaking of stress, Errol's grandmother was getting into trouble and ending up at the police station multiple times a week. Her behavior was off and erratic and there was no one around to help him or figure out what to do. When he called who he thought was a family member to get the bail money for Grams, he got Davien instead, whose unicorn convinced him to go. It wasn't a meet cute, and Errol was snappy and stressed. But Davien convinced Errol to let him help and take the bail money. They confirmed phone numbers and Davien left the ball in Errol's court, interested but not wanting to impose until Errol was ready.

I liked the way their relationship developed. Having Grams in the story and helping her was heartwarming. A sweet read. 4 stars.

This is the third book in the Dial M for Mate series. Each book can be read as a standalone. I love that dialing the wrong number end up with both of them finding their HEA. This is the story of Errol and Davien. Errol a human omega who loves unicorns and is trying to take care of his grandmother. Davien is an alpha unicorn shifter who would love to find his mate. When Errol makes a panicked call to Davien for bail money the story begins. Reacting to the panic that he hears in Errol's voice, Davien shows up at the jail with the bail money for a grandmother he doesn't know. Davien recognizes Errol as his mate but decides to take things slow as not to scare off Errol. This is their story. It is well written and easy to read. It was pleasant change have two main characters who are equally nice and supportive. This is a cute story that is quick to read. I look forward to more in the series.

I wanted to LOVE this series, but I just liked it? Davien wasn't the Unicorn I wanted to be reading about, which might have brought my enthusiasm down a bit. Overall, these have been entertaining stories and each has lightly touched on a social issue that isn't one that we normally find authors addressing.

I think the next book is the Christmas book... Wrong Number, Right Santa
I can't believe it is that time already... where has the year gone? 😭🤔

Wait, it would appear that I missed an out-of-order installment back in February... Wrong Number, Right Tiger. Let me go see if I can find it... grr

This was a really cute story. I loved the interaction between the two main characters as well as grams. She was a really cute grandmother who seem to know things without knowing them. I enjoyed how they grew together and finally started their own family. Davien is a unicorn shifter and one night he received a phone call asking him to bring money to the police station to bail out grams for mooning a policeman. Errol is a human and was very concerned for his grandmother or grams, as he called her, happy behaviour was erratic and she tended to get into trouble a bit, and when she is taken to the police station, he calls who he thinks is his uncle, but is a total stranger. Did he know that he would be his fated mate.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.

Omega Errol accidentally dials alpha unicorn shifter Davien’s landline while trying to bail his grandmother, Grams, out of jail. Curious and moved, Davien decides to help, his unicorn instinctively pushing him to go meet the man. As Errol and Davien deal with Errol’s caretaking responsibilities for Grams and Davien’s inherited landline promise to his late grandfather, they realize they’re drawn to each other in ways they can’t ignore. Their relationship deepens through a series of sweet interactions, and they soon find themselves facing personal and family challenges together. Things heat up between the two and their lives become even more intertwined, solidifying their commitment as mates. Sweet and steamy MM shifter-human romance, with mpreg, exploring love, connection, family, and life changes.

I loved Wrong Number, Right Unicorn. Davien was surprised when his landline rang, it never did anymore. He was told to bring $500 to the police station to bail out Grams so he did. Not sure why but he was compelled to do so. Errol thought that he was calling his uncle, when Davien showed up he was confused but took his help. Davien just found his mate and Errol feels a connection with Davien. This is a sweet story about a Unicorn and his mate, a Grams that has some sort of medical issue, and fate bringing them all together. I loved the storyline and the characters. I woukd definitely recommend this book and the series.

Davien kept the landline phone after he bought the house from his grandfather and promised him that it would always be. One night he gets a call from Errol who thought he called his uncle to bring 500. to the police station to bail out his grandmother after what she had done so Davien decided to take him the money. Grams had given Errol the wrong number when he was younger she would tell him things but thought she was just making it up. Davien had Errol take all of the medicine that grams was taking and the doctor took a lot away and she started acting better. Errol loved Darien’s unicorn and were mated.

Gotta love landlines! Davien's unicorn, is a pip. He and Davien were opposites in personality but they managed to make it work. He got a landline for his house at the request of his GrandPa who didn't really trust mobile phones. Sadly, Davien, associates landlines with bad news. One night, when it rang, his unicorn encouraged him to answer. The call was from a sweet voice. Errol requesting help getting $500 bail money for Grams, who was in jail. Lovely story, Gram is a hoot! Nice story, I love how Errol, cares for his Grams and Davien supports Errol. Sweet story, nice characters, great flow. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Davien and Errol story was exciting, hilarious, and with a bit of caution as things could have ended up in a disaster.
Their first meeting was interesting, with a bit of teasing and a quirky grandma that would win your heart.
I was really relieved when the real health issue was found, and grandma reverted to her plotting one.
I liked their chemistry and how Davien being a unicorn was received.
I simply adored their growing family, their devotion and shenanigans, as well as the surprises along the way.
I enjoyed the story, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

This an another fated mates mpreg romance from the team of Hart and Dunbar. There’s no angst. And no drama between the couple. Cause……..fated, of course. There’s a little family drama but it’s easily resolved. So if you’re looking for a pleasant way to spend an afternoon with a cute couple, this is a great pick. And there’s unicorns 🦄! We don’t get to see too many shifter unicorn stories. Also, the spice meter is just one 🌶️.

Silver & pink, three-egg cake, standing proud & tall, jams & pies, fairy princess tulle dress

Sweet, cute, adorable, and humorous. That pretty much sums up this book. Errol is loveable and Evelyn II is precious. Grams is just a hoot! In fact, all the characters are wonderful and extremely likeable. The well-written imagery is easily visualized. This storyline isn't complicated and is very low angst. It's a captivating story that I enjoyed very much and recommend it.

Omg this was so adorable. I love these books.

First of all the connection between Davien and his unicorn is so funny and over the top It could be the basis of its own comedy show.

The characters are adorable. Errol’s problems with his grandma is something we all have gone through. Watching our loved ones age is hard and unfair but he does it with grace.

I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Errol and Davien

Finally a book that pulled me out of my slump!! This was a sweet book with no angst. I loved that it was a unicorn shifter. There's not many shifter books with a unicorn.

I wish there had been a little more explanation to the world they lived in. And I wish we had known more about their pasts. However, it was still a really good book that kept my interest from start to finish. Even cried a few happy tears. Well done.

Omega human Errol, called his uncle to get bail money when Grams was arrested but dialled the wrong number. Alpha unicorn shifter, Davien, got the call and his unicorn urged him to help the caller. When he arrived at the police station he scented his mate, now he had to show Errol they were meant to be. Sweet, fun, steamy story with amazing chemistry, love, romance, fun, laughter and a wonderful HEA.

Errol has a busy life as a trainer and his grams keeps him busy getting her out of jail. When she give him a phone number if the wrong person, Davied answers and comes to the rescue. From the first both feel a connection. Dreaming about unicorns all his life, Errol isn't surprised when David show him his unicorn. Soon they're expecting a baby. Add in Grams and baby makes four!
