Great little handbook to have

I actually have had to deal with two Kindle Fires - a low end one (the $49 version) that is mine, and a much higher end Fire we purchased for our teen to use for both school and recreation. As a heavy iPad user, it took me a bit to figure out how to get the Fire - especially his, with parental controls, set up the way that worked best for us. Having had this book *then* would have helped a lot. This book contains a really good breakdown of what you can do in setting up your Fire and how to do it.

I gave four instead of five stars for two reasons. First, in setting up parental controls, the book mentions you must take note of your password - if you lose it, you have to reset the Fire. Having been through this TWICE, I can tell you, it’s a big nuisance and I think the author could have stressed this point quite a bit more.

Second, the author spends a lot of time in the beginning comparing the Fire to the iPad as well as purchases of other Android tablets. I found myself questioning the validity of quite a few of the statements made. It seemed to me that some statements of “fact” were really more the author’s opinion. I don’t think there’s much use in pointing out one or the other being “better.” iPads and Fires are both tablets, but very different tools. It is important to do research to know which would address your needs, and this book helps with that, but I do not agree that the Fire is a superior tool - just a different one.
