Wonderful book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it to be very useful. The author writes in a very personal, casual way that makes you feel as if you have known each other for a long time. She offers many great thoughts about dealing with loss and personal challenges. She speaks from her own experiences and uses them as examples. I will be looking into reading other books by her.

Very Personal Take on Letting Go

I have recently read a few books that seem to be a backlash against FOMO, the fear of missing out. Two of these books are actually named The Joy of Missing Out. So for some reason, my brain associated that concept with this book, or at least I thought it would be in a similar vein. Instead, this mostly seems to be about the author’s personal journey and the lessons she learned when she lost everything. The book description makes you think that this will be all about you and helping you let go—in whatever fashion the author might have meant. Rather, this feels like a bit too personal relation of the author’s story and what she learned through it. It is intensely personal in places. The book blurb also did not give the idea that this book is heavily religious, with many references to God. There also seems to be a running undercurrent of fatalism, which I find a little disturbing. If you don't like that kind of self-help book, you'll want to steer clear. There are some small nuggets here, but nothing like was suggested in the book blurb, unfortunately. As such, I cannot recommend this book

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Just let it go has been what my family tries to follow most of my life. God is real and what happens to us is part of the life we have to get through in order to live with Him. It is to strengthen us but it also teaches us to focus on others that God loves as He does us. There is no chance of becoming complacent in the suffering of anyone. This book is about worry anxiety and stress over what is happening that cannot be change. Those emotions do not change anything but your blood pressure. There is joy in letting go.
