Please This is a summary of The Obesity Code by Jason Fung and not the original book.
What will you learn from listening to this book?
Why calories aren't the reason you're gaining weight Why refined carbohydrates are one of the most harmful things you can be eating It's possible to reduce weight by following the Atkins diet; however, you will gain the weight back after a while Everything about insulin's effect on weight loss A high fiber intake will not only increase satiety, but it will also decrease obesity What "intermittent fasting" means and how it will help you curb obesity and weight gain The timing of when you eat can be just as important as what you eat Why diet and exercise are not the cornerstone of weight loss science
It is a nice book on obesity and how to get rid of it. This book has busted myths like eating fewer calories will help in losing weight. The author has addressed all the parts of nutrition and tried to explain and give an overview of what can be consumed and what should be avoided. I will definitely recommend this one.
I am fairly knowledgeable about health and the science behind losing weight. But more of the basic sort of science. There are individuals who struggle more with obesity and they need more of this detailed science due to their genetics or lifestyle.
For this reason, I love this book. It accepts the basic science we know about losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. But also recognizes these scientific principles which are necessary for some people to avoid obesity. This book covers those principles and debunks a lot of methods people believe are helping them lose weight. Then they get confused why it doesn’t stick.
This book is what people need sometimes. They watch a news segment on losing weight or follow the Atkins diet, then something doesn’t add up and they feel like they have failed. When it is not the individual who has failed, but the bogus information. This book is the antidote to that terrible information. Such a good read. I highly suggest.
They took out Dr. Fung's extensive sourcing and technical explanation, and left the easily digestible points. The bullet points at the end of each chapter summary highlighted the most critical technical stuff. I have been struggling to read the Obesity Code for weeks and I finished this in an hour. I can't recommend this enough! I really feel like I got the most important information from the book.
This book gives a good overview. Sometimes the takeaway did not fully match the content because it was not explained in depth. However, this book is an excellent starting point.
It was pretty good, but glosses over several items I would have liked a more in depth explanation on. I suppose to do that, I have to buy the bigger book. There is some great information.
