Broken Interface #2

Broken Interface- Sprout: Post Apocalyptic Zombie LITrpg

Rate this book
When the Alpha Particle was created, Daniel was in a hotel and there were insufficient interfaces for him to receive one. This would usually result in Sapient Deconstruction, but Ivey saved him by gifting part of her interface. It allowed Daniel to keep his sanity.

Together they formed a team and fought up the tower in a series of bloody battles relying on Daniel ingenuity to create traps to adjust the battlefield to their advantage. Via morse code they were made aware that there was a small group of survivors on the top floor who were in a stalemate with a deadly monster and likely to succumb at any moment. At a significant cost to the community, they destroyed the mana octopod that was terrorizing the top floor.

Their job is not done.

Daniel and Ivey are not part of the fledging community but they know they are not safe. There are still monsters on the floors below and more deadly ones in the streets below.

Daniel will need to draw on his unique advantages; his power to shape plants that let him create devastating traps, the power he gained from consuming zombie cores and the community he has helped save. All of them will be necessary to carve out more of the world for the human survivors of the event.

Sprout is the second volume in the Broken Interface series, set in Alex Kozlowski’s Alpha Physics Universe—described by fans as “a breath of fresh air” in the LitRPG genre, with stories that are “human, thought out, and realistic.”

Alex first fell in love with both computer games and writing when he was on a scholarship completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics. After graduating and getting a job, I put the whole being a novelist to the side while that pesky thing called life got in the way.
A career in banking project managing the delivery of complicated quantitative applications resulted. Very stereotypical;
• Boring job as a banker - tick,
• Suburban home - tick
• Three kids - tick
• Two dogs - tick
• You get the point.
A little thing called a global pandemic then came along and gave Alex a chance to return to his dream of becoming a writer. Having recently read a variety of LITRPG books, it was a genre that he was excited to explore in order to create a world that readers could immerse themselves into. With the familiarity of the gaming world gained from playing WOW, Skyrim, Fallout amongst others, there is simple joy in creating an imaginative magic filled world that is at everyone’s fingertips. In his writing, Alex aims to capture the feeling that he loves of being able to put yourself into a gaming world, develop your character and exploit the rules to the fullest.

There's a dog in this one

The dog gets almost no love. The mouse? A ton of love! The club? Moons for pages over the club! The dog? "Um...good boy? If you're going to add a supposedly important character give them some screen time. That goes double if it's a dog!

Also, I'm not sure that glass would really endanger a top tier hero of the apocalypse, but why not.

Otherwise, a fine book. Tom out

I really enjoy the abilities that the main character has, plant based, using the abilities that he already has. While he does lean a few more uses for them, with him lacking an interface it's not the "you have used this ability 1000 time so here it's more powerful." Great job!
Though a year to the next book, your killin me :)

KU Review

Good follow up to the first. I really enjoy the amount of time spent adding background to the apocalypse event and the science behind it. Definitely helps sell the magic.

As the title says this is a review for Kindle Unlimited and as such is a reflection of my enjoyment of the book and in no way reflects cost to value analysis.

Working so hard to survive the apocalypse, yet unable to shift gears due to lack of knowledge/time.

A lot of crafting, both theory and physical. The new community members add a lot.

I am going to pre-order the next book right now.

The Broken interface is a great take on even more weirdness, loved it.

Fantastic read. Love how strong Daniel is getting and the whole druid based vibe. Looking forward to next book and whatever other interesting characters might pop up.

Excellent!

Amazing world building in a LitRPG world. Spells / abilities are very logical, and lots of action with an interesting plot. Monsters are unique, including their abilities. Not your run of the mill, common Tolkien derived D&D type monsters.

Daniel and his team are doing incredible things. Clear the floors, and help other people. Their group is doing well and we can see they are gearing up for something major to happen. The series is good and it keeps me on the edge of my reading chair.

2nd as good as first.

I enjoyed the first. I really enjoyed this one. Think I like it better than the base series... Is that sacrilegious?
