When high-powered corporate lawyer Dupree arrives in White Owl, Washington, he should know better than to get between a corrupt deputy and the focus of his lust. Little did he know that his actions set in motion a reign of terror on the whole town.
Will the town continue to allow a corrupt man to destroy their gentle life and make law the enemy? Sometimes the battle between good and evil seems unwinnable, until just one man steps out of the shadows and dares to make a difference.
Fans of Lee Child, David Baldacci, and Michael Connelly will love Adam Dupree’s quest to live a life fulfilled.
Micheal Maxwell has traveled the globe on the lookout for strange sights, sounds, and people. His adventures have taken him from the Jungles of Ecuador and the Philippines to the top of the Eiffel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge, and from the cave dwellings of Native Americans to The Kehlsteinhaus, Hitler’s Eagles Nest! He’s always looking for a story to tell and interesting people to meet.
Micheal Maxwell was taught the beauty and majesty of the English language by Bob Dylan, Robertson Davies, Charles Dickens, and Leonard Cohen.
Mr. Maxwell has traveled the globe, dined with politicians, rock stars, and beggars. He has rubbed shoulders with priests and murderers, surgeons and drug dealers, each one giving him a part of themselves that will live again in the pages of his books.
Micheal Maxwell has found a niche in the mystery, suspense, genre with The Cole Sage Series that gives readers an everyman hero, short on vices, long on compassion, and a sense of fair play, and the willingness to risk everything to right wrongs. The Cole Sage Series departs from the usual, heavily sexual, profanity-laced norm and gives readers character-driven stories, with twists, turns, and page-turning plot lines.
Micheal Maxwell writes from a life of love, music, film, and literature. Along with his lovely wife and travel partner, Janet, he lives in a small town in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California.
The 2nd book in this series picks up with Dupree settling into White Owl. He finds a place that fits him. Dara, owner of Quarter Moon Cafe, is just what he needs. He becomes the lawyer for the sleepy little town in Washington State. This book is full of adventures and has its bad characters as well as good ones. Dupree meets one of the worst when he goes into Quarter Moon Cafe for breakfast and finds a macho guy sitting at a table intimidating everyone, especially Dara. Dupree makes an enemy by pretending to be Dara’s boyfriend and telling Travis, to get lost. There is much more about this guy but in the end he gets his due. It is a great story and Dupree becomes the lawyer for the town. I love the writing style of Micheal Maxwell and will continue to read his books.
Idk I was falling in love w this series then it seemed like the characters the author made us love he quickly decided he wanted to get rid of and rushed the ending. Seems like so much detail and people/characters were explained and introduced through the first 2 books. For it all to just be rushed at the end seems like a big let down. 4 stars for the first book and all up until the last bit of the second book. I’m going to try and read book 3 but idk how the gas and break situation is going to work for this character.
Sometimes, a person's life is going so bad, they just want to kill themselves. The only other option is to get as far away as possible. For LA lawyer Dupree, he chose the latter option and ends up in White Owl, WA. It is a small town and he makes lots of friends. He also makes enemies of the local bullies, who happen to be the law. Excellent read!
Dupree series was as good as the Cole Sage series. Dupree is the kind of moral virtuous human we could all strive to be. Not perfect but working on honest feelings, treating people fairly and learning daily about himself.
I fell in love with Dupree. What woman wouldn't. Michael Maxwell is so authentic and one of my favorite newly discovered authors. I began with the "Cole" mysteries, read every one and now am starting on the rest. Do yourself a favor, if you haven't read his books, you'd better start now.
Much to my surprise, while the first book was a decent introduction to the character, this second installment stunned and moved me. Just desserts ended up being meted out; great agonies suffered, and great joys embraced.
Continues the story of Dupree who leaves his old life behind and moves to a small town. It’s a great place to live except for a deputy sheriff who is a bully.
Have enjoyed all of his Cole books the series was great. The Dupree series is wonderful, but the Cole series is my favorite. All his books so far are 5 star and a must read.
