Scrivener, plunker, strummer.

My first book was published by the wonderful and notorious Feral House: "Encyclopaedia of Hell: An Invasion Manual for Demons Concerning the Planet Earth and the Human Race Which Infests It"

My 2nd book was published by Abrams NY: "The Adventure Time Encyclopaedia: Inhabitants, Lore, Spells, and Ancient Crypt Warnings of the Land of Ooo Circa 19.56 B.G.E. - 501 A.G.E."

My 3rd book, also with Abrams, is "Adventure Time: The Enchiridion & Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook", which I wrote with my daughter Olivia Olson.

The fourth and most recent is a sequel to "Encyclopaedia of Hell" called "The Conquest of Heaven," also from Feral House. This is intended to be a trilogy, and the last book will be called "The Triumph of Nothingness," and is about a group of angels, demons and humans setting sail in a time ship into the Time Void to save Lord Satan. Along the way the crew stumble onto the ultimate secret of how Everything somehow sprouted from Nothingness. Let's see if I can finish it before I croak.

My poetry books are available for free here: http://issuu.com/emartin888

If anyone has read my first book, or the French translation, please drop me a line at martinolson888@gmail.com and let me know what you think.

Kind regards,
Martin Olson

I'll just be over here crying for a while. Marceline and Simon's diary pages are heartbreaking and I will never get over how much emotional trauma was built into a cartoon world that started off so lighthearted. The Enchiridion half of the book is a little less emotionally distressing and more in tune with the humor of the show. A must read for anyone that wants to know more about Marceline and the Ice King in the days after the war. The illustrations and drawings tucked into the pages are wonderful as well.

I have always loved Marceline's story arc (and Simon's - poor Simon . . .) on Adventure Time! It always made me cry. Five stars for Marceline's Super Secret Scrapbook (which had started out as Simon Petrikov's scientific journal/notebook)!
The Enchiridion portion of this graphic novel, all about heroes and wizards, is a bit too busy, with lots of comments from Finn, Jake, and others in the margins of many of the pages (plus, there are yellow sticky notes obscuring some of the text on a few other pages). I went back, after skipping the notes/texts during my first read, and spent thirty minutes reading just them - good stuff!
I really enjoyed the Beastiarium Vocabulum Vol II. "Avoid. Trap. Destroy. 'Nuff said."
This is a really wonderful book for all of the Adventure Time fans out there.

I loved it! The first part, The Enchiridion, was weird and fun, just like the show. Chapter Seven was my favorite one; it synthesizes the essence of Adventure Time: "everything repeats over and over again..."
The second part, Marcy's super secret scrapbook, is very interesting. It has some information about the post-Great Mushroom War Earth, Marceline's parents, Simon and how she became The Vampire Queen. Many of these events are explored in "I Remember You", "Simon and Marcy", "Everything Stays", "Stakes" & "Ketchum." So if you are a super fan of Adventure Time, I highly recommend this book.

Lush, beautiful artwork packs this almost to exhaustive interpretation of the Adventure Time universe by the voice acting father and daughter behind Marceline the Vampire Queen and her dad, Hunson Abadeer, ruler of the Nightosphere! Check out more on my blog, Reading Rainstorm!

This Book is Awesome!! Olivia Olson did a fantastic job writing this book. She did a much better job than her dad (who wrote the Adventure Time Encyclopedia). The Enchiridion had all the heroic stuff needed and Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook was amazing. I loved the exclusive events of Marceline's backstory. This is a perfect book for all Adventure Time fans.

I expected an in-depth lore from the Enchiridion but it was a goofy book. The first part (For Heroes Only) was just trying to be funny but it got stale after a while. The second part (For Wizards Only) explained the lore a lot more and there were some funny parts. Since the funny parts were rarer, it actually felt funnier. I would gladly read a longer For Wizards Only Enchiridion

Marcy's Super Secret Book made me tear up a couple of times. It made me feel a lot of emotions. It starts out as Simon's journal in the wreckage of the world after the Mushroom War, then Simon finds Marceline and Marceline also starts using the notebook. It was heartbreaking.

This book really does need to be reviewed in two parts, as each half is completely different from the other.

The Enchiridion I felt was a bit too random, and often didn't provide much in the way of clever humor or useful lore. It was silly, yes, but often left me thinking, "oh, that's it?" after a chapter finished. I actually did like the concept of the chat bubbles along the edges of the pages, but felt they werent utilized as well as they could have been. They could have easily been a story unto themselves. If the Enchiridion's pages were what made up the entire book, I'd have probably given this a 3 and forgotten about it.

Marceline's diary, however, was adorable, and revealed quite a bit more about a character that I think everyone loves. I wish it had kept going, as I would have gladly read and entire book with its contents.

I have to say the real winner in the book is the artwork, especially where the two stories meet in the middle. Everything appears to be hand drawn, and they created some stunning pieces.

Overall, this book had some clever concepts and some excellent details that made me glad I read it, but had it been worked over further to shape it into what it could have easily been, it would have become a true treasure in my collection. A bit of a missed opportunity if I'm being honest, and that's coming from a person who truly cares about the show and knows what it's potential is.

Gracias!!!

Man this book has so much going on that when I first opened it I thought my head was gonna explode! *Phew! I'm still not sure what to make of it. It's like that dog in the movie 'Up'......, "Squirrel!"

If you're a diehard fan of Adventure Time then you'll really like this book! But I mean a serious diehard fan! Cause I thought I was a diehard fan but apparently I'm just a big fan!?!?!

I love the art in this book, the feel of the pages, the smell of it, the feeling of something personal for me, and the imperfections in this book!
It's a fun book but almost more of an art book or coffee table book rather than the actual reading of it. Honestly put its just too much yet not enough. Case in point, there's scribbling in the margins and fake yellow post it notes in the book and it's got this crazy scratchy busy feel. But the Enchiridion is only about 70 pages but the book itself is 200+ pages. The reason is that once you get to the end of Enchiridion then you flip the book over and read Marceline's journal. It's kind of like reading 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' but with a bit of Adventure Time thrown in. I didn't read much of the diary though it did look cute. Once again it was just too much going on with fake drink stains, scribbles, ramblings, drawings, etc...yet not much of real substance. I hope the best for this book as it is cute and can be fun but it'll weed out the real fans for sure!

This book is great. The characters are written so well and in-character that it's like watching an episode of Adventure Time.
Martin Olson makes The Enchiridion portion of this book so fun and light-hearted, while also using post-it notes and the 'texts' from the characters to combine the series and the book. The post-it notes from pre-mushroom war Simon were little snippets of heartbreak and the glimpses into his backstory were great.
'Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook!!!' was also a great insight into the Simon & Marcy relationship through and after the episode of the same name. The story evolved as you read through the diary and it felt like a real post-apocalyptic diary from a real kid and it was heartbreaking to read.
Overall this book is a wonderful companion to adventure time and especially great if Simon & Marcy was your favourite episode like mine was.

I love Adventure Time, so of course I would pick this book up! The fabled Enchiridion, merged with Marceline's diary...a chance to learn more lore and background on this great show? Sign me up. The book was designed to be read from one direction halfway through, and then flipped to read from the other direction. Interesting note was how they merge in the center in similar ways, but unique for each book. You will learn more about Marcie and Simon (Ice King) beginnings, and more about the fabled Enchiridion (likely spoofingly modeled after the Necronomicon). Another nice book to add to the AT collection.

What can I say? I love Adventure Time and this is by far the quintessential book anyone can add to their collection based on the show.

63/100

This is written by Olivia Olson, who voices Marceline the Vampire Queen, and her dad, Martin, and it's interesting as an Adventure Time item if you're a big fan. But the Enchiridion is focused more on the idea of heroes and wizards than dealing in specific details about Ooo and its world. And Marcy's Scrapbook is interesting as a piece of the historical puzzle of the show. I found my attention wandering several times and ultimately did some skimming. There's not much narrative to grab you, but I think the attention to the mythology of the show is commendable.

A very good book, it's just I would have liked more progression in Marcelines backstory. We don't know what's happened to her mother and half the Enchiridion was covered up. I was just a little disappointed I guess. Beautiful illustrations but I think Adventure Time is taking too long to reveal their secrets, Gravity falls did it in a more timely manner.

This would probably be a much more enjoyable book if I'd ever seen the TV show. I found it on sale for Kindle and decided to give a try. The first part is an amusing "manual" for heroes and wizards, while the second part is a sad story about a somewhat horrific little girl. I may have to hunt up the TV show to make sense of the total.

I enjoyed Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook more than the Enchiridion, but both books were great reads!

I especially liked all the background info and world building both books offered.

The illustrations were also top notch and really added to the experience!

A good book for "Adventure Time" fans

3 stars for the Enchiridion section. Fun but nothing groundbreaking.

5 stars for Marcy’s Scrapbook. This was great. Fills in some holes that the show doesn’t cover.

i loved this. It has everything a fan of the show could want. There are some inconsistencies between it and the show, but it mostly reads as a recalling of events that were featured from the show but from Marceline's perspective. There is also some information totally unique to this book, between her being left by Simon and becoming a vamp, and what she was doing all those years between then and the show (she just took a really long nap i love that)
The Enchiridion is mostly fun stuff of no significance to the lore. But there are some bits that were featured in the show which is pretty cool to see!
I'd recommend reading this if you've watched the show and want more of Marceline!!

I absolutely love Adventure Time and this book was everything I could have wanted. Half of it is the Enchiridion, and the other half is Marceline's diary (preceded by a section of Simon's diary too).

The artwork is beautiful and fun. The Enchiridion is hilarious and full of interactive side comments by other characters. Simon and Marceline's writing is really sweet and adds so much more depth to their characters and relationship.

This is a really fun book and I think fans of Adventure Time will truly appreciate all the little details and illustrations!

Compensaram bem o fiasco do primeiro livro com essa dobradinha. O Enchiridion é muito louco, certeza que o autor se baseou nos livros de magias reais rsrsrs
O diário do Simon e Marceline... Putz, bem triste... Bem triste mesmo. Me fez amar ainda mais os dois personagens.

The Enchiridion half captures Adventure Time’s wacky humor and existential philosophy, the first hitting more than the latter. But the real highlight is Marceline’s half, an extra peek into two of the show’s richest characters in Simon and Marcy and filling in some blanks

Surprisingly witty and charming in the front, tragically compelling and heartbreaking in the back.
