Igloos in the Summer

Rate this book
The blurb, the blurb is not to be mistaken in the lack of informative souls. What was the once famous saying? ‘Never judge a book by its cover’ what are you doing right now? Why did you divert your eyes to the swannings of the River Tyne, was it something different, something unique, or something more powerful than ever with a touch of home?

“Moral of the story – Life is like a teabag; you end up dead, replaced and forgotten.”

“The idea of being unstuck in the animation of humanity was enough to put a beam upon anyone’s face.”

“I felt like indolently cutting open each vigorous stratum of stomach skin, reaching for the intestine core and casing it around the distension of my faded neck.”

You may ask how on Earth one simply manages to endorse an igloo in the beaming summer sun. In fact, it’s almost impossible, not one layer of snow nor a falling snowflake upon the moonlit ambience. But this summer was different. This was the summer of twenty-three year old Vanessa Pools. Find the truth inside the world of self-harm, depression, isolation, bullying and self esteem. Your actions have consequences, my actions have consequences and together we can fight life in the power of humanity.

Welcome to my inner life, this has been written to the free the mind for a second, it is not just an about us page, it is a reason to live a little more and it is a reason to escape from the rest of the world. I will begin by telling you the little basic facts that all stalkers find useful, my full name is Kieran Jamie Lee Chapman, currently living in the North East of England, (Yes, this place does have its ups and downs).

I was born ten full days after the New Year bells struck twelve in 1995. (Moment of thanks to the nurses who helped birth me) I do admit that the majority of the time I am an utter twat to everyone, but deep down I have always looked up you, you are part of our future, the main reason for us to believe and appreciate the things in life.

Now, the main aspect of my life is Social Media… I know it does sound a little stupid but it saved me, I think it saved us all in a way. I used to be the little shy child until the creation of my online profiles, this allowed me to recognize the independence and willingness of others, how people are only people, how people have their own opinions and most of all what life is really about.

After leaving school in 2011 I had started to pick up on my social media accounts and have never regretted it since. Social Sites has allowed me to get myself known, it allowed me to relate to others knowing everyone has a story, everyone is different, how unique we all are and best of all how great people are.

I have spoke to so many people from all over the world and each day I can smile, go outside and ignore all the haters, I can be me. Simply because I know that when we are in the online surface of things we all fit in, so why is the outside world not the same? Why can everyone not become friends? I mean at the end of the day we all came out of a vagina? What is so different about you? What makes you think you can be bigger and better than everyone else?

I want to make you smile, the more you smile the more I smile and the main way I can do this is by being so open and let you into my life, tell you my mistakes, achievements, novelty brain thoughts and well basically invite you into my journey to the unknown. We do not live to please others, we live to please ourselves and my goals now is to inspire people, let people know that people out there do actually care and are on your side.

Just do not give up, stay and smile, embrace yourself onto a new journey. Thank you for being in my life.

Igloos in the summer is a brilliant first book by a clearly promising writer. It deals with many topics, Life, Death, Self harm, sexual desires and many more. To see all of this in an author's first book is brilliant and shows the talent they have. I received my copy of this book yesterday and couldn't put it down. It's a great read.

I look forward to seeing what Kieran can produce in the future.

Read this book a week ago and needed that week to gather my thoughts. I originally followed Kieran on Twitter and saw that he had wrote a book. This interested me instantly and of course I had to buy it. I read the book in a day and just couldn't put it down. I loved it (doubt my teachers did as I used it as an excuse for not doing my homework) it was just such a gripping story and I found the characters really well rounded. The way it addressed mental health was very well done and though the ending destroyed my heart I absolutely loved it and would recommend this book to anyone. The emotional rollercoaster this book made you take was just great. Thanks Kieran for writing this book and I would definitely read more of your work in the future. Even if you are a douche

I'm not a very good book viewer as such however I can tell you that I enjoyed Igloos In The Summer by the wonderful Kieran Jamie Lee very much so. I read and read and read therefore finishing the book in just two days! Ultimately a tale of romance but with plenty twists along the road, keeping one hooked throughout! Would definitely recommend!

I picked up this book last night and four hours later I realised I had ran out of pages and finished it. Simply could not put down. Kieran Jamie Lee is such an inspiration, he is so young yet has managed to produce and create such a great novel for his first book. I hope he continues to write so I can see him develop from strength to strength. I Didn't think it was possible for young people to be so successful in life but Kieran has proved me wrong. Success doesn't mean money or fame it means accomplishment and now I hope to follow in his footsteps.

I loved this book so much! I've been a fan of Kieran's for quite a while and when I finally got this book, I felt so happy!
There were points where I cried (so beware if you're an emotionally unstable teenager) it was beautiful!
I couldn't put it down and nearly missed my bus stop numerous times:D Although, it is rather sexy, I would do Rupert, just saying.
So, yeah, I recommend buying this book, it's amazing!

First impression? The author is very brave. This story just has that deeply authentic feel to it: I'm sure there's more than an element of truth in here!

It's billed as a romance, but it's properly a modern day tragedy, in the vein of some of Shakespeare's greatest works.

The story follows our hero, Rupert. Nothing ever seems to go right for poor Rupert. He loses his best friend, everybody around him keeps dying, and he struggles with self-harm. Okay, I made that sound quite comedic... although there's some humour in this book, it's not really meant to be a funny story at all. It's meant to be a gut-wrenching, depressing journey, and it certainly succeeds in that. Even me, a big strong man, felt tears welling up in my eyes more than once.

It's written in a very (VERY) contemporary British style, and there's lots of slang that I had to read a few times to figure out. That in itself is not a problem - it's actually quite charming, but overall the writing's in serious need of some copy-editing. There are lots of incorrectly used words, missing words, duplicate words, and punctuation problems.

I'm not sure I'd recommend this book, as such, because it IS so depressing and out of the ordinary for modern readers, but it will definitely touch you deeply. If you've been looking for something different, and love Shakespeare's tragedies, give it a go.
