Accidental Pregnancy books are usually a hit or miss for me, but I'm glad this was a hit. I really liked it.

So, this book is part of a series. However, I didn't read the previous books before I dove straight into this. That was fine because I don't feel like I missed anything. I might have gotten a few spoilers about the couples, but not about the storylines.

Honestly, I love reading about strong, independent woman, who don't act super hyper-independent all the time and Briar fit the description well. Aaron was such a cutie. Hockey men are just something else, because why are they so cute?!?!

This book also has the cutest domestic moments and I loved - no, lived for - every minute of it. Just literal cuteness that oozed off every page.

Thank you so much to R.C. Stephens and Grey's promo for this arc. 💕

----------

pre-read: well, I put myself on a dark romance ban (aside from beautiful venom and one arc that's due) for this month, so I diverted to sports romance with this arc!

This was a ride...While there was no OWD or miscommunication trope representation, it does remind me why I do not normally read "Surprise" pregnancy books. They are never well done in my opinion, and the FMC always has to give up her dreams and aspirations and then everything is always "ok" and they are just so happy with their little lives while the MMC continues along with everything that they wanted to accomplish in their futures.

This book followed that plot line exactly. Our FMC is a fiercely independent [to her detriment and our annoyance] collage gymnast with aspirations of going to the olympics and law school who is on scholarship. In her JR year of college she has a vacation fling with the MMC who is a Hockey god. She ends up having to postpone her scholarship and apply for financial aid to be able to stay in school while the MMC has to change nothing at all. While the MMC is a "good guy" and is present in all the steps it just is so very irksome.

Even in the epilogue, there is no mention of the FMC completing her degree, or any aspirations that she has now that the baby is born. We are left with the "W're a happy family, and we got married etc." while the MMC is going to play pro. Outside of my issues with the plot of this story, the writing also did not connect for me. The inner thoughts of the MMC and the FMC sounded like run on sentences listing out everything that they did. There also seemed to be missing steps that were mentioned in the previous chapter but the next chapter didnt pick up there, almost like a scene was missing.

Overall, this book wasnt for me but that doesnt mean that it wont be for you. I just did not connect, and mainly for the reasons listed above. Happy to give the "surprise" pregnancy trope another go, if you wanna drop some recommendations where the plot differs from the usual.

One Timer with a Wingman is another escapist delight in the Riverside U series—where a reckless decision led to an unforgettable love story. Briar Halle never imagined her junior year would involve juggling gymnastics, college stress, and an unplanned pregnancy. But life has a way of throwing curveballs—especially when campus heartbreaker Aaron Murray crashes her Christmas vacation.

Briar thought her junior year would be all about gymnastics and chasing her Olympic dreams—not dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. But when she ends up sitting next to Aaron Murray, campus hockey star and serial heartbreaker, on a holiday flight, things take a wild turn.

A little turbulence, a bucket list confession, and suddenly Aaron is making it his mission to help Briar check off some personal goals while they’re in paradise. What was supposed to be a carefree fling quickly turns into something way more complicated. Back on campus, reality hits hard—two pink lines and a future Briar never saw coming.

Throughout the story, Briar evolves from a sweet but unsure college student into someone who fully embraces her self-worth, love, and motherhood. Aaron, the cocky jock who swore off commitment, also surprises everyone—including himself—by showing up as someone kind, protective, and way too charming for his own good.

With plenty of swoon-worthy romance, spicy banter, and heartwarming moments, One Timer with a Wingman delivers the perfect mix of laughs, love, and life-changing surprises. If you love bucket lists, vacation flings, and stories where everything goes sideways before turning into something beautiful, this one belongs on your reading list! This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

This is the next book in the Riverside Series and we have Aaron and Briar this time around.

These two are in each other’s worlds due to their friends, but they aren’t necessarily friends themselves. When the holidays come and all their other friends are heading home these two end up with a group of college kids on a last-minute trip to Punta Cana. As you can imagine, it’s a college trip filled with sun, fun and a little hooking up.

You have Aaron, who has been dealing with some family stuff and keeping it from his friends and housemates. He’s a solid guy and definitely your cinnamon roll hero. He’s a typical hockey guy who has the history of getting around but that has changed.

Briar is Miss independent and has been on her own since high school. She definitely doesn’t have the best family in regard to support and being there for you. She’s a gymnast at the university with big goals and aspirations for her future.

As the title gives away, it’s a one time vacation fling for Aaron and Briar that leads to a bigger surprise following the trip when they get home. It was great to read how the two had to figure out how to work together and also see briar grow in regards to leaning on somebody for once in our life. The two definitely have chemistry and you got to see them build on that chemistry.

I did receive an arc for an honest review and was blessed for this chance.

I really enjoyed this book. So much I want to go back and read the others. I was sucked in right away. The banter between the two had me giggling and the spice had me drooling.

Briar is a very independent and hardworking gymnast. She is not used to having to depend on anyone, especially because both her parents have let her down. She has a hard time accepting people want to help take care of her and be with her.

Aaron is the over the top hockey player who has no issues finding a girl. He loves all the attention and is outspoken. But when one certain girl catches his eye and isn’t falling over him right away, he begins to feel things.

Briar and Aaron had me cracking up. The two were very attracted to each other, but of course Briar was not having it. But then the two got spicy and fireworks were going off. They couldn’t get enough of each other, but it was just a vacation fling. Well, that’s until they got more than just a tan on vacation, they got a baby too.

Aaron stepped up right away. He was so sweet and caring. He would do whatever Briar needed and then some, but she had a hard time accepting it. She was not used to having someone have her back and care for her that way. Watching Aaron slowing break down her walls was so sweet and beautiful.

At 43% and am probably going to DNF. I'm not a fan of the writing style as it's overly clunky and formal which keeps taking me out of the story ("I am" when "I'm" would do might be small but it's so frequent and once that kind of thing is noticeable it's jumping out at me all the time).

The timeline is also weird. Christmas was both that day and implied it was days before when she was speaking to a friend. I think it needed a bit of an edit to capture those kinds of things. Plus I'm getting the sense I'm not going to enjoy the rest of it. Too many niggles going on.

One Timer With A Wingman by R.C. Stephens is an utterly addictive, swoon-worthy read that blends humour, steam, heartache, and hope in the best possible way. The fourth book in the Riverside U series, it delivers all the charm and emotional depth readers have come to expect, while giving us a fresh, heartfelt story that stands beautifully on its own.

The story follows a college junior who finds herself alone, broke, and unexpectedly pregnant – a far cry from how she imagined her life turning out. Enter Aaron Murray, Riverside U’s infamous hockey wingman and campus heartbreaker. From the very first meeting, which involves them being seated next to each other on a turbulent flight, the chemistry between the two leaps off the page. Aaron’s cocky charm and undeniable good looks are hard to resist, but it’s the moments of unexpected vulnerability and sweetness that truly make him shine as a leading man.

Briar blurts out her bucket list – including a very personal confession – mid-flight panic, Aaron turns her embarrassing moment into an opportunity. What starts as playful teasing quickly deepens into something more meaningful as they spend reckless, passion-filled days together in paradise. The way R.C. Stephens builds their connection is both believable and emotionally satisfying. The slow burn, the trust, and the inevitable surrender are handled with just the right amount of tenderness and heat.

Returning to Riverside U brings reality crashing down, and with it, two life-changing pink lines. Watching the characters grapple with the consequences of their whirlwind romance is both heart-wrenching and uplifting. Aaron proves himself to be more than just a pretty face; he steps up in ways that are truly moving, and their journey toward building something lasting is filled with raw emotion and genuine growth.

R.C. Stephens’ writing style is easy to devour – witty, warm, and emotionally layered. She balances steamy scenes with heartfelt moments, creating a story that feels real without losing its escapist appeal. Readers will fall in love not just with Aaron and Briar, but also with the friendships and team spirit that enrich the world of Riverside U.

This book is a full-length hockey romance that guarantees a happily ever after, with no cheating, and delivers all the feels. It’s perfect for readers who love sports romances with a strong emotional core, a swoon-worthy reformed bad boy, and a heroine who finds her strength even in unexpected circumstances.

The Hockey player & the Gymnast ... heartfelt

I can't get enough of R.C. Stephens' Riverside U series, and ONE TIMER WITH A WINGMAN was an addictive read. A hockey player/gymnast, holiday fling, close proximity, found family, college romance, which was emotional, steamy, humourous, and completely unputdownable.

Briar Halle is a college gymnast with dreams of competing at the Olympics, she also wants to study law. Briar comes from a broken home and has learned to become independent, but life is a struggle as she tries to balance studying, gymnastics, and work. Aaron Murray is the heartbreaker of the hockey team. He's the fun-loving bad boy with his sights set on the NHL Draft. Lately he's quieter, keeping to himself, he's struggling with a family illness. The only bright spark in Aaron's days was when he got to see Briar at her work, he was drawn to her, but she wanted nothing to do with him.

A last minute Christmas vacay with friends, a bucket list revealed, teasing, and an opportunity to good to be missed, leads to a vacay fling, shared secrets, sizzling heat, and an unexpected friendship. Everything changes when they return to Riverside U, two pink lines has Briar floundering, her life was never going to be the same. Vulnerabilities are on the line, emotions are raw, support and comfort are offered, but wasn't it just meant to be a fling?

I adored Briar and Aaron, their determination, understanding, heartfelt moments, and their strength to accept the consequences of their actions. Aaron is the ultimate cinnamon roll; he may have a hard exterior but on the inside was a guy who was soft and cuddly. Being raised in a loving family, he was determined to give Briar all the support she needed, even when she was just as determined to do everything on her own. I enjoyed the journey they took, their heat, their emotions, their conversations, they balanced each other perfectly.

R.C. Stephens' words grabbed me from the beginning and never let me go. The humour, emotion, steam, and journey travelled by Briar and Aaron was heartbreaking and heartwarming. ONE TIMER WITH A WINGMAN is a story for lovers of second chances, a delicious reformed bad boy, and a heroine who has an unbelievable amount of inner strength.

A recommended MUST READ.

Aaron Murray- you sweet sweet cinnamon roll of a man... I adore you.

R.C. Stephens is bringing us back to Riverside U and the hockey house with One Timer with a Wingman although a good portion of the story takes place on a little holiday trip to Punta Cana. Aaron and Briar have become slight acquaintances with mutual friends that are dating and the fact that Aaron frequents the bar that Briar works at but with Briar's focus on school and gymnastics and Aaron reforming his former hookup ways neither one of them ever dared to act on any of the chemistry or attraction between them. In fact Briar even has a bit of a dislike of Aaron at first lumping him in with the stereotype she holds of male athletes.

I love the journey that RC takes us on with these two. From their initial interactions to the slow truce of a friendship formed during their spontaneous holiday across the border- their time is filled with flirty banter, sizzling chemistry and this like deep rooted kinship they have with their lonely souls. It's the magic that happens between them when real life comes into play was what had me devouring this story in one swoop. Aaron and Briar have lived very different lives and it shows in the way that they each approach the curveballs of life. Briar has only really had herself to count on- and romantic relationships were not worth the hassle since they only ever ended in disappointment while Aaron grew up with an almost idyllic example of what love should look like and never lacked love or support. It was while he was struggling with the impending loss of that bubble of love that Briar really allowed herself that moment to truly connect with Aaron.

Then those two pink lines happen and Aaron not only steps up to not only be supportive of Briar but his determination to share and become the family she never experienced was just so fabulous. He had this almost golden retriever energy where he was happy just to do anything to make her life just a little easier or to see her smile that melted my heart. Add in how excited he was about the "nugget" of surprise- I was swooning. My heart broke a little for Briar as all of her carefully constructed walls and plans tumbled around her but in the long run she gained so much more than if she never allowed herself the chance to enjoy that moment of life.

I adore the found family trope and I'm a firm supporter of the no third act break up club so the fact that this story had both of those things I was one very happy reader! I can't wait for what R.C. is going to give us next!!

Briar, the female gymnast lead, was raised in a mostly neglectful home. Now in junior year, she’s working, doing gymnastics, and studying. She has no time for a boyfriend and minimal interest, especially in the hockey boys that her friends are starting to pair off with.

Aaron, the male lead, is a successful hockey player also in his junior year, expecting to go professional when he finishes university. He’s been a player until recently, when his mother was diagnosed with a degenerative disease, which changed his perspective on life. He’s also intrigued and unrelentingly attracted to Briar, even though (or maybe because) she expresses negative interest in him.

When they end up as part of the same group on Christmas holidays in the Dominican Republic, they end up spending time together. When Briar finds out she’s pregnant, she doesn’t expect anything from Aaron, though she lets him know out of courtesy. Aaron, having been raised in a supportive family, expects to be highly involved. Now he needs to convince Briar to let him help her and be an active part of both her and the baby’s life. He’d also really like a real romantic relationship…

This story is dual POV, well written, and a somewhat angsty, steamy, college gymnast/ice hockey player, black cat/golden retriever, accidental pregnancy romance. I empathised with Briar’s childhood trauma and enjoyed seeing her grow to have faith in Aaron and his family’s support. I empathised with Aaron’s current situation and enjoyed the patience and gentleness with which he worked to convince Briar to be in his life and his partner. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the integrated, supportive secondary characters. I appreciated the contrast of supportive vs disengaged family styles and the impact of that on adult actions. I enjoyed the ending.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Aaron Murray, plays ice hockey as a wingman for the Riverside U ice hockey team. He has always been considered the campus heartbreaker. Never really dating, other than just a night with a puck bunny here or there. Aaron has started hanging out at Black Jack's bar more and more ever since Briar has started working there. He likes her, but, hasn't ever asked her out.

Briar Halle is a college gymnast with dreams of competing at the Olympics, she also wants to be a lawyer one day. Briar works at Black Jack's bar, a college hang out mostly for the sports teams. Briar has a lot of negative relationship visions from her parents divorcing. She doesn't really date. She works, has gymnastics practice and school. The house she is roomed with 2 others they aren't friends, she just goes into her room and is shut off from many people.

The owner of Black Jack's tells the college workers that he is going to shut down the bar for the week of Christmas/New Year's. About a dozen or so all agree to go on a vacation together, to Punta Cana for a last minute cheap deal vacation. Down in Punta Cana 6 guys and 6 girls all room in different rooms pairing up. Briar is next door to Aaron's room.

Briar and Aaron start hanging out on the vacation, and get really into each other. They both agree that its just a romance for the vacation and not to bring it back to Riverside U when they go back in a few days. Aaron is so kind and nice to Briar, she is confused by how nice he's being at first, then realizes that he is a caring and all around nice guy.

Aaron wants to keep seeing Briar after they get back but, she doesn't want the attention of being a hockey girlfriend. She's worried people will think she's just a puck bunny. They agree to be friends, and slowly Aaron starts getting into Briar's head / world. He's just so nice to her, she has to let him in.

I did receive a free ARC Copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest book review.

Follow Aaron and Briar's journey as they navigate college life, unexpected love, and a future they never saw coming.

Briar has always been fiercely independent—she had to be, growing up in an unhappy home and learning early that she could only rely on herself. Focused on gymnastics, school, and her dream of making it to the Olympics before law school, she never planned on falling for anyone, especially not someone like Aaron Murray.

Aaron, a star Left Wing on the Riverside U hockey team, is on the brink of an NHL career. But behind his confident smile is a young man grappling with the reality of his mother’s terminal illness and the pressure of being the golden boy. When a chance vacation throws him and Briar together, their worlds collide in unexpected ways.

But for Briar, the trip had left her with more than memories of sun-drenched beaches and late-night laughter. Weeks after their return, she found herself staring at the campus clinic doctor—her world shifting beneath her feet in an instant. She hadn’t planned on anything lasting between them… but life clearly had other ideas. What was supposed to be a fleeting connection becomes something much deeper—and far more complicated—when Briar discovers she’s pregnant.
Together, they face the chaos of college, demanding sports careers, grief, and the weight of becoming parents far sooner than planned. But in the middle of the uncertainty, they discover something they never had before: someone to truly lean on.

A story of resilience, love, and finding family in the most unexpected places—Aaron and Briar’s journey is one of growing up, growing together, and rewriting what it means to have a future worth fighting for.

I love R.C. Stephens and all the Riverside U books. This was just another hit out of the park.

I received an advance copy from BookFunnel for my honest opinion.

Absolutely loved reading this one.
Aaron is the campus heartbreaker and also a friend of Briar's besties boyfriend. He is off Limits, she does not date athletes.
Briar is aspiring to be Olympic Gymnast. She is a tough cookie and independent. She is used to taking care of herself as her parents are too busy with their own family.
Aaron may be a heartbreaker but he is such a good deep down. He Is currently suffering in pain from his mother's recent diagnosis that no one knows.
So during Christmas he stays at college and ends up going on an impromptu holiday with Briar and her workmates.
Briar is so scared of flying she let's off her bucket list that contains she hasn't had the big 'O'. Now Aaron is determined to make her list to come true. She is staying away but his kindness and flirting is breaking her walls. A whirlwind of steamy nights later they're back. Now her dreams of being in Olympics are shattered and she is left with 2 pink lines.
When she tells Aaron she wa not expecting him to turn up and be absolutely AMAZING!!! The way Aaron was with her, honestly was a thing of beauty. His kindness and care throws Briar off kilter. She isn't used to anyone take care of her or be so kind. She gets scared and tries to pull away but that isn't happening.
I loved the way his parents took her in and showed her what a parents love should be like. Their relationship was so cute and Briar finds it easy to fall in love with them all,she can't fight it anymore.
I loved the bit when she went in labour, I was giggling so much. Then afterwards I was crying straight away. The scene with his mum was emotional.
All in all this was very enjoyable read and super hot!!!

Briar and Aaron

The story follows Briar and Aaron and their heartfelt journey with unexpected surprises along the way. They come from different backgrounds, are different in general but one thing they will have in common.
When a supposed vacation fling is about to turn two lives upside down. Neither saw what happened coming, but they are determined to make it work. Aaron can convince Briar that she doesn’t need to do everything on her own, he is there for support and more.
Because both mature and face the challenge life throws their way. They accept their fate and do what is needed.
Aaron is not what Briar thought. Under all the charms, fun loving and going pro exterior is a sweet and reliable man.
He had some life changing news lately which changed his outlook on life and is very attracted to Briar, who seems so not interested in him, which only spurred him on.
But he also has qualities that are off the ice, which led to their new now. Aaron wants more than Briar wants to give him. Being involved in their interwoven future and secretly more too.
Briar is really closed off. Having not the same family background and experience made her the way she was. Briar’s life focuses on studying, working and being an awesome gymnast and making it to the olympics. She slowly gains trust and faith in Aaron.
The ending was very fitting for their story and the appearances of the other, former couples I appreciated very much.

Briar is an independent, hardworking gymnast who is not used to anyone being nice to her including her parents. She is not used to depending on anyone, so when Aaron starts doing nice things for her, she has a hard time accepting it.

Aaron comes from a long line of professional hockey players, and has ambitions to be drafted into the NHL too. He is a great guy, who loves his mom, and is devastated when he finds out she is sick. Before his mom was diagnosed he didn't have a hard time finding a girl, now he wants more and wants to settle down. When a certain girl catches his eye, and intrigues him he can't see anyone else. It also helps that she isn't tripping over herself to get his attention.

Aaron and Briar were great together, once he found out about her bucket list, he had a tendency to tease her about it. However, you can also tell he really does like her. Once she pushed through her hesitations they could not get enough of each other and agreed to have a vacation fling. Well, flings don't always stay on vacation, sometimes you bring home souvenirs.

Aaron is great, he stepped up right away and helped where he could. He would also do sweet gestures like send her food to her apartment, so she would eat. I loved his parents as well, when Briar's would do something to hurt her, his were there to fill in the gaps. I loved how easily they accepted her and welcomed her into the family. It was sweet watching Aaron, being the amazing man that he was raised to be, do what he could to break down Briar's walls and show her that they really are permanent.

ARC Review – One Timer with a Wingman by R.C. Stephens - 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
Briar is the ultimate rule-follower—college gymnast, Olympic hopeful, and future law student. Her life is a whirlwind of training, studying, and work, leaving no time for fun... until one impulsive trip over Christmas break changes everything.
Enter Aaron: sexy, smooth-talking hockey wingman with a heart of gold and a mischievous streak. When turbulence mid-flight sends Briar into a panic, she blurts out her bucket list—and Aaron takes it as a personal mission. Starting with a sunrise and leading to a series of swoony, spontaneous moments, this wingman is all in.
What starts as a carefree vacation fling quickly turns complicated when they’re back to real life—and Briar might have brought back more than just memories.
Both Aaron and Briar are dealing with complex family dynamics—on opposite ends of the spectrum. The portrayal of ALS in Aaron’s family was done with such respect and heart, and watching him care for his mother and Briar? Whew. This man is a walking green flag. Next-level caring, selfless, and emotionally in tune—Aaron might just be the softest sports hero I've read in a while.
This book brings heat, heart, humor, and so much tenderness. R.C. Stephens delivers a swoony, feel-good romance that still hits you right in the feels.
This book is full of charm, heat, and heart. The chemistry between Briar and Aaron is electric, and their banter kept me smiling. I loved watching Briar slowly learn to let go and live a little, and Aaron? Ultimate book boyfriend material.

I received an ARC of this book, all thoughts are my own.

I'll just say it — the banter between Briar and Aaron had me giggling out loud. I loved their back and forth, and how they were towing that line of flirting and not flirting. They are only in each other's lives because they have mutual friends, so they did not see their situation coming.

Briar is a strong, independent gymnast who's used to relying on no one but herself. With a rocky past and parents she absolutely can't depend on, she has a tough time letting people in — especially when it comes to accepting help. From anyone.

Enter Aaron: the cocky, confident hockey player who never has trouble turning heads. But when Briar doesn’t fall for his charm like everyone else, he’s instantly intrigued. Watching their dynamic unfold was so much fun. Their attraction was electric, and when things heated up, they really heated up — vacation fling turned very unexpected surprise!

What really stole my heart, though, was Aaron’s reaction. He stepped up without hesitation, showing just how sweet and loyal he could be. His patience and determination to break through Briar’s walls were beautiful to watch. The way he cared for her, even when she tried to push him away, made their love story all the more moving.

This story had the perfect mix of humor, heat and heart. The same for all the books in this series. R.C. has a knack for creating hockey families that I want to be part of!

OMG the big hockey player has the biggest heart! Aaron is a college hockey player that is one heck of a teddy bear. Briar is a very independent, strong, and closed gymnast.

These two have many friends in common, and while they both don’t want to admit it they both like each other. When they both don’t have anything to do for Christmas they both end up on a spur of the moment vacation with their friends. Their feels come for each other after a night of fun. They tell each other things they have never told other people, and it makes their bond so much stronger. However, they both agree it’s a vacation thing.

Well they came home with a forever souvenir. While she’s scare of someone loving and taking care of her because she doesn’t know what it’s like, Aaron is there for her and whatever she needs. While they start as friends it is soon realized to everyone that they are definitely more than friends. It just takes them awhile.
Briar learns what love, comfort, compassion and family really is with the help of Aaron

I loved this book and couldn’t put it down! The author brings you right into their story and you can relate to everything that they’re going through with the feelings of being there right with them. It brings tears, laughter and melts your heart in all the right spots!

Briar and Aaron are casual acquaintances as her friends are involved with his friends/roommates/teammates. Aaron is definitely smitten with her from the get go, but she’s not interested in getting involved with an athlete, and definitely it one who has a reputation for hookups.

During a last minute trip to Punta Cana over the Christmas holiday Aaron is able to show Briar he’s more than his reputation and they end up having a holiday fling that is supposed to end when the fly home. Neither of them really want to end it, but both are scared to admit to wanting something more. Their relationship is definitely fiery as Briar tries to maintain her independence with some bratty attitude nor does she allow herself to display much interest in Aaron publicly.

When Briar learns she brought home a permanently souvenir she freaks out since her neglectful parents have never been a reliable or willing support system.

Aaron is a golden retriever with a loving heart. He steps up immediately and tells Briar he’s in and they are a team. Despite Briar’s pregnancy, their relationship is very slow to develop because she has trust issues due to her childhood. Aaron is patient, supportive and persistent with her and slowly chips away at her resistance.

This romance is an entertaining read and kept my attention from start to finish. It has some really sweet family moments and packs an emotional punch with Aaron’s mother’s diagnosis and the lack of care Briar’s parent show her.

This book is part of a series yet can definitely be read as a standalone. The relationships between their friends are mentioned and seem to take place in a somewhat concurrent timeline.

I received a free ARC from the author and Grey’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Riverside U

Briar Halle is part of the gymnastic team at Riverside hoping to go to the Olympics and also go on to law school. She doesn't have time for a boyfriend, studying and doing her gymnastics which she's on scholarship for and can't lose it. When her work friends are off for the Christmas holiday they all decide on a spur of the moment trip to Punta Cana and talk her into going too. Also on this trip is Aaron.

Aaron Murray is a junior and part of the hockey team. He is looking to go pro after his senior year. He's always been a player but once his mom was diagnosed with ALS he started changing his thoughts on life. He's been attracted to Briar but she hasn't really given him the time of day.

Being thrown together on the plane ride where he helped her with her anxiety and then at the resort they spent a lot of time together including the nights. They shared things they hadn't with their closest friends bonding them closer but then agreed this was just a vacation fling.

Once back home Briar finds out she is pregnant and Aaron wants to be a part of it all. She is realizing what a great guy Aaron is and is slowly letting him in.
Will this be forever?

4 stars
Aaron was so sweet and took great care of Briar. His family embraced her, something she didn't have.
A sweet emotional story of finding love.

R.C. Stephens continues to impress with One Timer with a Wingman, a beautifully written, emotionally rich addition to the Riverside U series. Book four delivers an unforgettable accidental pregnancy storyline, blending college romance with heart-tugging vulnerability and the kind of love story that leaves a lasting impression.

Set against the backdrop of university life, this book shines as it explores Briar’s emotional journey. With both parents having moved on to new families, Briar is used to being left behind—and her belief that people always leave adds a raw honesty to her character. But a Christmas getaway changes everything. It’s here that she gets close to Aaron, the swoony university hockey star who completely stole my heart.

Aaron’s deep connection with his parents—especially his protective love for his mother, who is dealing with a medical issue—was written with such care and warmth. His grounded, loyal nature and his quiet strength give Briar a glimpse into what a real, supportive family can look like. Their connection is instant, but they agree to keep things platonic after the trip… until two little lines flip their world upside down.

I adored this couple. Their chemistry was palpable, their emotional growth felt natural, and best of all—no third act breakup! Instead, the story leans into love, support, and the beautiful messiness of unexpected beginnings. Packed with team camaraderie, heartfelt moments, and the perfect HEA, One Timer with a Wingman is a standout in the series and a must-read for fans of sports romance with substance and soul.

𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐦𝐚𝐧 is the 4th book in the Riverside U Hockey series by R.C. Stephens, featuring a vacation fling, hockey romance with lasting effects for Briar and Aaron. She was an independent gymnast with Olympic potential in need of real family, and he was a hockey phenom on his way to the NHL with a tragic family situation. A turbulent flight on the way to holiday vacation with friends is all it takes to break the ice with a bucket list and set the stage for a hot island hookup. Neither of them is prepared for the souvenir that Briar brings home from the trip, though. Can Aaron convince her that he’s in it to win it with her?

I have really enjoyed this series! The characters are relatable with authentic emotions, chemistry in spades, and so much banter with that top notch found family vibe! Both Briar and Aaron had strength and vulnerability in the story. Aaron’s family’s story broke my heart and inspired me at the same time, and may have brought a few tears to my eyes. My only hang-up with this book is that the ending left the topic of Briar’s future plans unresolved. I get that dreams can change, but her strength and independence were emphasized throughout, and I feel she is a character who could swing it all. I just would have loved to see that.🤷🏼‍♀️ I look forward to whatever is next!

A return to Riverside University for One Time with a Wingman as wingman Aaron and gymnastics student Briar discover that what happens in Punta Cana didn’t stay there when a holiday fling has long term repercussions of the nine-month variety.

This was a fantastic sports romance with all the feels and no cheating. I loved the characters of Aaron and Briar and there was a definite connection between them even if neither was looking for anything longterm. Aaron was a genuinely nice guy who’d just been hit by the news of his mother’s degenerative illness but he was quick to step up once he got over the initial shock of his impending fatherhood, and he quickly became obsessed with Briar’s diet, something that annoyed the independent Briar who wasn’t used to anyone caring about her – when her parents divorced, it seemed they both divorced their daughter as well. They were both in agreement though that the baby came first and that they would be strictly platonic but the development of their relationship after they found out about the pregnancy was well written and their dialogue strong. I loved that with Aaron came his big and loving family all ready to claim Briar as one of their own and no matter what happened between her and Aaron, they would always be there for her and not just because of the baby. For the first time in her life, she had people she could rely on.

3.5 ⭐️ s

Briar, a dedicated college gymnast, has no interest in romance—especially not with the hockey guys her friends are falling for. Raised in a neglectful home, she's focused on work, school, and training. Aaron, a star hockey player on the cusp of going pro, is used to attention but finds himself drawn to Briar, especially after a family crisis forces him to reevaluate his priorities.

Thrown together during a trip to the Dominican Republic, their chemistry is undeniable. But what was meant to be a fling turns serious when Briar discovers she’s pregnant. Though she doesn’t expect anything from Aaron, he’s determined to be involved—not just with the baby, but with her.

I don’t usually gravitate toward the accidental pregnancy trope, and some of those elements weren’t my favorite. But this story handled it with emotional depth and maturity, and the characters’ growth kept me invested.

Told in dual POV, One Timer with a Wingman is an angsty, steamy college romance full of heart. Aaron’s steady, patient support and Briar’s emotional journey make for a compelling dynamic. The story explores themes of family, resilience, and unexpected beginnings—without relying on a dramatic third-act breakup. With strong chemistry, great side characters, and a satisfying HEA, this is a standout in the series!

One Timer With A Wingman by R.C. Stephens is a heartfelt and emotionally resonant contemporary romance that explores themes of love, resilience, and unexpected family. The story follows Briar, a pregnant and struggling college student, and Aaron, a charming hockey wingman and campus heartbreaker, whose journey together is both heartbreaking and heartwarming.

What I appreciated most was the authentic emotional depth and the gradual development of Briar and Aaron’s relationship. The novel balances tender moments with light humor and genuine warmth, making their connection feel real and earned. Aaron’s role as a supportive and caring partner adds a refreshing dimension to the story, while Briar’s strength and vulnerability make her a relatable heroine.

While the romance is slow to ignite, the payoff is satisfying, and the story thoughtfully addresses themes of comfort, compassion, and the meaning of family. The spice level is mild, focusing more on emotional intimacy than steamy scenes, which may appeal to readers who enjoy character-driven romances.

Overall, One Timer With A Wingman is a solid four-star read for fans of contemporary romance with emotional depth and well-drawn characters. R.C. Stephens delivers a touching story about finding love and support in unexpected places.

Briar and Aaron’s story was such a good one that had me laughing one moment then the next had my heartbreaking for what they endure. Briar has goals and aspirations for her future and that does not include a man or relationship, like wise Aaron has a goal he is more than determined to attain, but time together on vacation brings these two together that will ultimately change a few things for them. Briar’s past has impacted where she is today, a highly independent person with a fierce determination to accomplish it all by herself, so letting others in is something unheard of for her. Aaron was a typical player until the news of his mother’s diagnosis changes his way of thinking and acting, but when he hears of Briar’s news he is determined to show her, he can be her everything. I swear Aaron was just pure perfection flaws and all, he was constantly showing her how committed he was, and I loved every second with him. Briar’s need for independence was understandable because her fears of being let down like she has always been creates these barriers around her, but at times you just want to shake her until she sees just how amazing Aaron truly is. Overall, this story was amazing, and this series continues to be great.

This story was so wonderful and so well-written. I loved it so much. It was sweet and very original.

Briar is in college and has had a tough life. She was raised by a single mom. Aaron is a hockey player and has liked Briar for a while since their friends are dating. They all decide to go on a trip together. Blair is seated beside Aaron who calms her down. She is very afraid of flying. Aaron is very appealing to her but she doesn't want to date a player. She has dreams of being an Olympic gymnast after college. Aaron is so sweet to her and I loved his wit and charm.

Aaron and Blair spend a lot of time together on the trip. Blair denies to her friends there is anything with her and Aaron but she knows that their chemistry is so good. They eventually decide to have a fling while they are there and then go back to a friendship when they leave. Aaron wants to date her but he goes along with Blair's ideas.

When they get back home Blair realizes that she is pregnant. It is very shocking to her as she didn't plan for a baby. She is unsure what to do but decides to tell Aaron about the baby. He is very surprised but takes care of her, proving to her he is more than just a hockey player. Their story is so wonderful and uplifting. It is emotional and at times sad.

If you enjoy hockey romance with a secret pregnancy you will not be disappointed.

Briar is a focused, independent and hardworking student. She is at college on a gymnast scholarship and she needs to be focused.

Going away for a short break with some friends that she works with might not be a good idea, but she needs to have some fun too.
Getting involved with a hockey player is definitely not a good idea

Aaron has been intrigued by Briar since his roommate has been dating one of her friends. But it seems like Briar wants nothing to do with him. Going away with a group of friends, seems like the best time to get close to Briar... maybe they got a bit too close... lol

I loved this story. I loved Briar's character. She was determined to stick to her plan. But fate had other plans for her. Aaron was amazing. He was funny, and sweet and definitely stepped up when Briar needed him. I loved their inter action and how Briar was determined not to fall for a hockey player, but that didn't happen lol

I read the first book in this series, and fell inlove and I am definitely going back and reading the previous two books. Can't wait to read more of this authors work🥰

Book 4 in the Riverside U series, a standalone with interconnected characters, can be read without reading the previous books but may have spoilers for the previous couples.
Aaron is the Riverside U hocky team wingman and Briar a gymnast with Olympic goals when she finishes college, but that all changes when they have a secret vacay fling following undeniable chemistry. They agree its just a fling and when they return back to college, nothing should change...until they find out Briar is pregnant.
They are both pining for each other but too scared to rock the boat of their friendship but Aaron is a man who wears his heart on his sleeve and struggles to hide his real feelings for Briar, he wants so much more than just to co-parent. Briar is too scared to make that step given her own childhood and relationship with her parents. Aaron is like a dog to a bone and doesn't give up in his pursuit and it all works out for them in the end with a HEA and a chicken nugget!

Aaron and Briar are made for each other. They were supposed to just be a vacation fling but returning home with a lifelong surprise solidified that they were going to be in each other’s lives permanently.

Aaron fell for Briar quick and hard and he knew it would take baby steps to get Briar to lower her defenses and give them a real chance. Briar has always had to rely on herself so with Aaron wanting to take care of her and Nugget she was initially resistant but she slowly realized Aaron had nothing but good, pure intentions and she was falling for him.

The connection between Aaron and Briar is easy and so obvious and I love how Aaron’s parents welcomed Briar and Nugget so quickly and easily into their family giving Briar something she always wanted a loving and supportive family.

I’m hoping there’s at least one more story in the Riverside U series and I’m hoping it’s the goalie, Luc’s turn to find his happily ever after.
