When my village is threatened by a mutant gang, the elders turn to the Mercenaries Guild for assistance. The Mercs are the deadliest warriors in the whole galaxy, but their services come at a cost. And when my village can't pay the fee, the Mercs suggest a different form of payment...
A woman of their choosing.
Now I'm standing on the stage with the other females of my village, waiting for the warriors to make their choice. I'm not worried. I know they won't pick me, the grubby little miner with a bad attitude and tats.
So why is the Merc leader stopping right in front of me? Why is his rough finger lifting my chin? And why is that deep, rumbling voice speaking the words I never wanted to hear?
“You’re ours now, woman. Ours to claim. Ours to share...”
“Ours to split.”
Split by the Mercs is a dark sci-fi romance featuring three cold-blooded mercenary killers and one tough-as-nails woman who gives them more than they bargained for. This is a standalone romance with an HEA guaranteed!
So I was super excited for this book. As I always am when my girl Lizzy B is releasing new reads.
As much as I did love/like this story, I have to say I was only in love with Zeth. He's fine! He's sweet! He's beautiful and can... yeah..(blushes) But I hate that I didn't get much time with him in comparison to Aeron and Murdock. I'm very much in-like with them, but they were nothing compared to my Zeth.
Rona, I like her. A lot.. My only beef with her character arc is that she evolved way too easily and quickly for my taste, when it came to her situation. Why she was with the Mercs, how she was elected to be there with them, and her purpose for the duration.. This situation was pretty jacked up.. And for someone who was not wanting it to begin with, it was hard to believe her mindset and Lotus below, would have been so easily swayed so quickly...
I would have totally understood and even believed how quickly she became acclimated, and even ravenous to her new station in life, with these men, had her duration with them been a bit longer than just 3 days.. Heck, considering that this is sci-fi erotica romance, I would have believed her change in attitude more if it came in just under 2 weeks, but not just 3 days.. That was too quick.. But this did not take away anything from the story for me.
I loved the chemistry between Rona, Aeron, Murdock and Zeth.. I LOVED the sweet moments that Murdock and Zeth showed Rona as well. Even though these were fleeting, they were there. It would have been nice to see more of this with them, though..
The smexy times were on point, as usual, with a Lizzy B enterprise. So I enjoyed these as well. Chapter 16? Honestly, I found too many instances in this book that had me feeling personally exposed, as I too have experienced MANY of the things that Rona encountered here with her men.. So some of the stuff here rang a little too true for me.. Which is an awesome thing. I guess (giggles).
The secondary plot was definitely on point as well... I loved how all the action sequences played out and I loved seeing what happened to many of the villains in this book.. The Epilogue set me to rights with seeing them all 8 months later.. It has me wondering since the Mercs typically produce male offspring, are we ever
Was this a well written book? Yes Do I wish it were a bit longer & with more character study growth? Yes. Is this story still awesome, in-spite of the things it lacked? ABSOLUTELY! Would I recommend this read and ANY Lizzy B. book, past and present? YES!
This cover? Atrocious. But this story?! True Lizzy writing with all the filth😍.
Aeron, Murdok, and Zeth are mercenaries and when one village hires them to take care of a problem but can’t afford them, a woman is offered up as payment.
Rona is a take no crap badass that takes her circumstances and makes the best of them when these mercs choose her as their mate.
I’ve said it before, Lizzy is the queen of interstellar smut 😂. Not a whole lot of stimulating plot to this, just enough action to not bore me and all the smut where “it’s getting hot in here” starts playing on repeat in my head. Enjoyed it.
hmmm.... Phucking epic book ! the guys are amazing especially Zeth , and Rona 😍 i loved the action however the spice 🥵🥵🥵... yup I'm definitely addicted to Lizzy's books
Rona lives in a mining planet scrapping to survive and when mutants attack the mines, the village council calls the Merc's guild and three mercs are sent. When the price is too high they ask for a woman, and Rona is thrown into their hands. One defiant look and she was chosen... A delicious dark sci-fi romance where the fmc wrapps three ruthless mercs around her little finger and proves to deserve their loyalty and love. And they give her protection, revenge and orgasms. Very well written with a plot that makes your heart pound and your core clench. Excelent world building and well developed characters. Add to that the incredible talent of Lizzy Bequin and you have an absolute MUST READ!!!
3.25⭐️ Just finished it. Yeah, I liked it. Smut? Unholy. Zero complaints. If you're here for gun-happy psychos blowing shit up and wrecking a girl six ways from Sunday, welcome aboard. These men do not believe in mercy or lube breaks, and frankly? Good for them. The foreplay alone was a full-blown offensive manoeuvre.
But Rona’s character arc? Now that needed a damn seatbelt. She went from scared, to defiant mess to back-talking cumslut in like…a chapter and a half (exaggerating, of course). I’m not mad, I just feel like we skipped a few important steps.
Also, I was so ready for the breeding angle to get messy. It gets mentioned over and over again early on and then ghosted from 60% until 90%? That should’ve added weight. Instead, it just…vanishes. Like condoms in this universe.
This all happened in three days. Three. There are hangovers that last longer. The emotional stakes got swallowed by the sex fog, and while I’m not exactly mad about it, I did want a little more with my creampie kink.😅
Characters slapped, though. Equal parts wreckage and war crimes, with some oddly caring and cute moments!
Something was missing—but the vibes were there. Filthy, fast, unrelenting…and I salute their stamina. Honestly, they should’ve all dropped dead from dehydration.🤣
I feel like a Lizzy veteran a bit as this has become my third or fourth book that I’ve read of hers. Reverse harems are in her bag, and she plays a lot in her bag with this one! 😈
I love me some Rona, who is a miner and chosen by 3 alpha mercs, that just happen to be genetically modified in some way! I hope you can see where this is going 🔥 Their leader decides to make her their breeding stock, to use and share while on their mission. 💦💦💦 Rona isnt down in the beginning, but can’t deny the arousal of being used, sometimes noncon, for pleasure!
Rona seemed like she was okay or down with everything very soon, and that part seemed stretched because her character was that of a rebel or someone who didn’t take any ish. But I’m cool with whatever. But the one thing I’d love to see from Lizzy is a harem instead of reverse harem. I wonder how that would play out? But overall another great read from one of my favorite authors.
I've dipped into a few Lizzy Bequin books before, and let me tell you—this woman delivers every single time. If you're here for the spice, the filth, the kind of smut that makes you blush in public and rethink your e-reader privacy settings, Lizzy’s got you. And Split by the Mercs? Oh honey, she understood the assignment.
This book yeets us across the galaxy into a universe where aliens are a casual Tuesday and hired mercs are the local pest control—but with abs and aggression. These men are built to kill, and bred to… well, breed. And you better believe they’ve got stamina for days.
At 261 pages, the plot zipped along—sometimes a bit too fast. A few story beats felt a tad rushed or conveniently accepted, but let’s be real: I wasn’t here for the politics of alien mercenary contracts. I was here for the other kind of action, and whew, did I feast.
Bottom line: if you’re craving a fast-paced, filthy space romp with breeding kink, alien anatomy, and a side of possessive men who treat their woman like a shared treasure—Split by the Mercs is calling your name. Answer it.
Wasn't a fan of you-have-no-choice-in-going-with-us/taking-our-seed and also the term woman when referring to Rona all the time.
Just come into the story with the angle of it's breeding smut. Pun intended. 😂
I actually enjoyed the whole mine backstory.
The setting didn't make sense. One minute you'd have references like Stalk-Home sindrone(the explanation for this was so hilarious but it also made sense), neuro-caine, they're living in a mining town, then we have condos, bathrooms in hotel rooms that are just basically the same current high priced living settings. Together with how even Rona would talk/inner monologue; she'd move from the distant planet way of talking to she's talking like a person from here and now.
3.5 stars. This was a fun, very smutty read, as expected from Lizzy. I really enjoyed the little details in this one. The ‘special’ attributes of the men, Rona’s attitude and how she fit in with them. I really enjoyed that ending.
Interest read and plot. Lots of combinations of fun. She is spunky and gives them a run for their money. She does do some stupid stuff. But overall a good read.
because this book is hot and steamy.. I would love to see more of this world. I love Lizzy's book because of the worlds she builds and how she describes them. Rona is my type of FMC, tall, buff and foul-mouthed.. and the Mercs are not bad either. As always this is a darker romance, so head the triggers.
Mine worker Rona is at an assembly with the other employees and some townspeople to address the d3adly attack and subsequent takeover by hostile forces which shut down the plant when a trio of massive mercenaries are recruited to remove the occupying raiders. As Rona is trying to leave the hall unnoticed, she inadvertently draws attention to herself, which causes the largest of the three mercs to demand she attend them for br33ding purposes as part of their reduced mission fee. A very frightened Rona is led away by the hulking giants and forced to undergo a humiliating series of examination to determine her health and worthiness.
Aeron, Murdok, and Zeth have worked and sla!n together for quite a while. When Aeron takes a particular interest in the feisty, petite human woman, his partners are on board but wary.
Due to the lack of agency Rona’s been given, she is understandably terr!f!ed and unwilling to submit to them. After a fashion, however, the men earn her passion if not her trust, and she determines that the three hunky d3vils she knows are a better bet than any hypothetical others to whom she might be subject.
As their arrangement is fulfilled and their time with Rona draws to a close unless and until there’s an offspring from their multiple pairings, will there be anything more than a transactional relationship?
Lizzy Bequin writes dark (but not horrific) dystopian/sci-fi romance supremely well. This is a terrific RH, and each of the MCs are capable, strong, and sympathetic. The men are ruthless, indeed, but within the context of their relations with Rona, they’re careful and considerate despite their hypermasculine tendencies.
I was fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from the author and booksprout, and I’m pleased to share my wholehearted recommendation.
This was a really good story despite being a darker theme Rona was handled with care and treated well. I was worried it would be more non consentual when the 3 mercs forced her to go with them as payment for helping her village against her will. Despite some uncomfortable moments for her that made her feel a bit humiliated they actually took care of her and made sure she didn't feel any pain outside of pleasure pain. As they end up together to ensure Rona is bred they also work together to rid the mine of mutants discovering secrets that lead to further discoveries that all is not as it seems with the job they were hired to do. These mercs are cold hard killers with little to no emotion or care for much outside of their jobs as assassins. However, despite her fear, Rona embraces her passionate side when she is shared by all 3 men in order to impregnate her and decides she's better off with these men then in a poverty filled village avoiding the men there who will take what they want if able. As they continue to breed her and work to completing their mission the men treat her carefully and with consideration ensuring her pleasure despite their fierce natures leading Rona to wonder if when the mission is complete there is a place for her at their sides. And it seems that Rona has wormed her way into their hearts as well so will they be able to leave her behind pregnant and unprotected until the guild returns to take the child into training? Well written richly detailed plot with sensitive material handled well, excitement, danger, high heat, and more in a story that just can't be put down until the end.

When mercs Aeron, Murdok, and Zeth are taken on by the village councillors to help them with an issue with the Riadne mine, they want a woman as collateral to service them while they take the raiders down.
Rona can't believe that the council is allowing this to happen, and it's just her luck, it's her that Aeron picks. Rona will not stand for this and fights and stands her ground with these three mercs who could crush her if they wanted to. But can she fight the attraction to all three of them? Her mind may say one thing but her body betrays her at every turn.
The men may have only wanted a woman to breed with, to impregnate her then leave once the job is done, and let the guild pick the child up to go into their guild once it came of age, but this sassy, mouthy, strong-willed woman has gotten under their skins and they crave her more each time.
Has Rona's feelings changed on the mercs, can she let them go once the job is completed, never to see them again? Likewise, with the mercs, can they leave her like they are supposed to do and move on to the next job, or is there a way to do both?

I loved the Firefly series, and was one of many disappointed fans when it ended. I also love reading hot, dirty, well-written, story-driven erotica. Split by the Mercs is a marriage of two of my favorite things, and it is THAT. GOOD.
The best of Sci-Fi storytelling, with a believable, gritty world populated by tough miners, shady businessmen, and brutal killers for hire -- who also happen to have a tradition of claiming a woman for every job, and breeding her as a team. I loved Rona, the heroine. She is totally believable, a survivor who takes no nonsense -- but loves being split by her three Mercs. This story is everything you want from an erotica, and then some.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This story has made me a fan of Lizzy Bequin, and I can't wait to read more of her work. Why choose Sci-Fi or erotic romance, when you can have both?
Lizzy Bequin delivers another steamy, action-packed ride with Split by the Mercs. Set in a gritty sci-fi world, the story follows a heroine who finds herself entangled with three mercenaries after her village seeks their protection against a mutant gang. The narrative is fast-paced, blending intense action with sizzling romance.
Bequin's writing is both bold and engaging, offering a plot that's straightforward yet compelling. The dynamics between the characters are electric, and the chemistry is off the charts. While the story delves into dark themes, it does so with a touch that's more adventurous than disturbing.
If you're a fan of dark sci-fi romance with strong characters and a dash of humor, this book is a must-read. It's a thrilling escape that keeps you hooked from start to finish.

Lizzy has given us another must read RH dark sci-fi romance. I personally did not find it that dark, but your triggers may vary. Even though this is a whole new universe we are immersed in the world easily. Each of the Mercs has a distinctive appearance and personality and Rona is one lucky woman. Of course, she does not feel that way at the start – effectively sacrificed by the other villagers to be split and bred by the three Mercs. At one point I actually gasped when Rona attempted to escape them and did something shocking. Despite Aeron, Murdok, and Zeth’s disciplinary actions and roughness there is also surprising tenderness and protectiveness. High action, high heat, and a hugely satisfying HEA. A must read.
Split by the Mercs is a dystopian, dark and slightly unhinged read! Rona, our FMC, is doing her best to survive and keep a low profile but all that changes in the blink of an eye when 3 mercenaries take her to breed as collateral for the job her village hired them for. Unrelentingly brutal in their line of work, Aeron, Murdok and Zeth nevertheless quickly develop a soft spot for her, wanting more than the traditional path set out for them. A seriously spicy enemies to lovers story with explosive chemistry between the main characters, this is an exciting fast-paced read, but probably best not read in public!

Oh this book was so much hotter than I expected. It is a romance, but it is primarily a smut-filled delight! Our FMC is a tough woman who's essentially delivered to 3 Mercs to breed and use as they want as the fee for freeing their village's mine (and sole source of income) from enemies.
She hates it. She fights it. She tries to kick them, stab them, run from them, anything to get away. They always drag her back. It's barbaric and primal, but they don't do anything without giving her pleasure. Not just pleasure, but over the top, insanely hot and kinky pleasure.
I started out empathizing with her, then became insanely jealous of her. Lucky bitch ;).
Wow…Lizzy’s books just keep getting better as far as I’m concerned. Split by the Merc’s is so deliciously feral and unhinged….I loved it!!!! After all, even killer Merc’s deserve HEA’s right???
If your new to Lizzy you’re gonna want to be ok with some dubious consent, lots of fluids and mess, violence (Not against the FMC) and a questionable trade of a woman for services rendered, don’t worry, everything ends up ok…but if these things sound bothersome to you, you might wanna move along…if you can hang in there….I think you’re in for a wild, deliciously messy and naughty ride….🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗.

Wow! So hot, hot, hot! Not only is the romance exceedingly hot, there's this underlying mystery the Mercs seem determined to solve, all the while unraveling all of Roman's secrets. Roman's kept to herself for so long that she's afraid to trust these Mercs. They're all hot and growly UT when push comes to shove they keep coming to her rescue. Loved every bit of this! The storyline the characters, the world building all were excellent! There's action, adventure danger, intrigue as well as hot steamy romance, that made for an exciting fast paced read!.

I really enjoyed this book, I couldn’t wait to get back to reading it! It was a bit dark but that added a nice dose of suspense. And it was really spicy! This isn’t my first read from this author and won’t be last. In fact, I’m pretty sure I need to read her whole backlist now because I’m loving all of it!
*Slight spoiler* There is some non/dub con which always worries me a little, but wasn’t much problem for me here. It’s one of those situations where she likes it, but feels like she shouldn’t because her village sold her out and these dudes basically kidnapped her. But it all turns out okay! lol
Mercs from the Mercenaries Guild are hired to rid the silk mine of raiding mutants. As partial payment, they take Rona as their shared toy to breed. The feisty woman is everything they want and then some. Rona doesn't make things easy for the three big, strong and highly skilled mercs, but they like it that way.
There is action, danger, and treachery in this story, but also caring, sharing, and steam enough to power a locomotive. Strong willed Rona ends up right where she wants to be as a member of this crazy team.

When the planet that Rona lives on was attacked by some mutants the council decided to hire some Mercenaries to get rid of them. They didn't have the amount of money that they needed to be able to pay them so the Mercs offered them a deal they would cut the rate in exchange for taking one of the women as collateral. Turns out it didn't matter if the woman agreed because the town was going to give her up regardless. I really enjoyed the story it was super steamy I loved all three of the guys Aeron,Murdok and Zeth. But most of all I love how Zeth took care of Tulliver for her.

★”Rona was a survivor. She would get through this.”★
“She would endure. And when the opportunity finally presented itself… then she would make her move.” Rona has no choice but to give in to the hired trio of elite mercs’ wicked demands in exchange for dealing with their Riadne Silk Mine’s predicament. Shefinds herself on the offworlders’ armored warbird, at their complete mercy, but Rona has had more than enough experience fending off the men in her village…she is not going to make this easy while the mercs go through their process of ridding the mine of mutant invaders. Another thoroughly engaging sci-fi RH romance! More please! 🌸
This story has LBizzy's usual steamy, hot, and heavy stolen pleasures. This is one of her few books where I liked her FMC right away.
The author crafts a world (galaxy?!?🤔) that drags the reader in. The only thing that I felt was hard to believe (that is for a fantasy novel) was the almost insta-love that occurred within 3 days. I felt like it could have been more believable if it was move like 3 weeks.
The story was still on point and the heat is, well, let's just say don't read this in public😘.

Rona is taken as half payment by a group of Mercs. When the Merc ship landed by the village where Rona lived everyone gathered in the village hall and awaited for their arrival. They had been called in to remove the mutants who had taken over the mine where most of the villagers worked. When the Mercs stated their fee the spokesman tells them it is too much but they will half it if they can take a woman with them. They choose Rona.

A very good RH. The FMC is so strong. She’s a survivor through and through. She makes several pretty good attempts to get away from the mercenaries but they’re super soldiers so she doesn’t stand a chance. Once she learns how good they can make her feel with their pleasure and punishment, she’s insatiable and always demanding more.
The smut is spicy and is what this book is mostly about. The story is just ok. Some of the scenes are pretty creative, so it’s a good read.
5 smut stars. This book isn’t deep, but it’s hot. Rona likes to get it every which way and the Mercs love to give it.
Three mercenaries get hired to clear mutants out of the mine Rona’s village depends on. They need collateral for the payment and Rona is handed over against her will.
This non-con turns into dub-con really quick as Rona is turned on by aggressive orgasms. Once she loses her virginity, they unlock her secret sex kitten and she becomes insatiable.
Three days later everyone is in love and they live happily ever after.
When the mercenaries demand collateral before they agree to work for Rona's village she is sure she will be their last choice. Aeron, Murdok and Zeth, chose her because they wanted fisty woman. boy did they get more than they bargained for. Rona is a strong woman unwilling to bow to any man or merc. This is a great read with fantastic characters and an excellent plot.
