Born in Mission, Texas in 1990, Jason Daniel Chaplin is an American journalist and author. In 2012, Chaplin burst onto the literary scene with the publication of his semi-autobiographical novel, "A Rocky Existence" - an exploitative, satire on the Missouri Ozarks drug culture during the late 2000s. Along with his brash personality and outspokenness, his debut created a stir among online literary circles. On Halloween of 2016, he published an epic, apocalyptic novel, "The Savage Romantics". In 2025, he published a collection of short stories titled “The Fragment Color, Darkly”.

He has lived in Texas, Missouri, Colorado, and New Hampshire.

Chaplin dedicated his life to Christ in 2022 and is a member of the Independent Christian Church. Chaplin is also an outspoken gun safety and second amendment advocate.

Chaplin is a distant cousin of Herman Melville and Ernest Hemingway.
