This story was exactly what I expected and needed. Barbie Bohrman delivered a sweet and fun, friends to lovers story that kept me entertained from the very beginning. Low in angst and drama 'Something More than This' tells the story of Katy, a 25 years old sports reporter. Katy is talented at her job, loves what she does for a living and she’s hardworking trying to prove herself and others that she can be successful in the sports industry even if she is a woman. Needless to say Kate doesn’t have much time for men or dating. She’s lucky enough to have two protective, great older brothers and a funny supportive best friend and of course a great boss and friend, Dylan.

“I can look back now and cherish the friendship we had, but the nagging question remains . . . what if?”

Her life turns upside down when Connor, her childhood best friends and also her first crush comes back into her life. Katy never expected to ever hear from Connor. She doesn’t know how she will react when she will see him or if her feelings are as strong as they use to be back then. She is nervous and scared to face Connor especially since he broke her heart.

While she starts to think and hope that Connor finally sees her more than a friend, something unexpected happens. The office’s slut is making a move for Dylan and suddenly Katy wants nothing more than to punch the biatch in the face. But why? She can’t be jealous…can’t she? She realizes that she has…some feelings for Dylan, some feelings Dylan seems to reciprocate. So now Katy will have to figure out which one of the two men is perfect for her…Connor or Dylan?

“How do I know where the friendship ends and something else begins?”

This was a very nice and sweet friends to lovers story and despite its predictability I enjoyed it. The story is entirely told from Katy’s POV which it was fine by me since I liked her personality.

The story line was fun and delightful, the dialogue entertaining and the cast of supporting characters well portrayed and engaging. Katy was a fun heroine and she was well written for the most part. I really empathize with her situation and I totally understood her reasoning for choosing…her man. Both Connor and Dylan were pretty awesome. Both of them were sweet, but I’m glad Katy chose the man she chose. However, I would have wanted their relationship to be more developed, because to be honest I barely felt any chemistry between them. As for the sexy times between our heroine and his man, I enjoyed them. They were hot, well written and I wouldn’t have minded their amount to be higher.

That being said, I would have preferred the story to be a little longer and some aspects to be more developed. Overall, this was a sweet, enjoyable read and despite my issues it made me smile and swoon.

It's a love triangle. Sort of. And yes, I liked it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I did. I think the author did a phenomenal job of making me understand why the heroine felt that way. I could understand her struggles.

She fell in love with a boy in high school. Not just any boy but also her best friend. Sadly, her feelings were not reciprocated. Forward to years later, and that same boy called her out of the blue attempting to reconnect. But things have changed. She has changed or at least she thinks she has but Conner's return had her questioning that.

Then there's Dylan. Her boss and good friend since college. And suddenly she's having all these feelings that she doesn't quite understand let alone know how to deal with.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Plus, it wasn't OTT, "I'd-rather-slit-my-wrist-than-go-through-with-this-flip-floppity-farce-of-a-romance" love triangle. It was just right. And loved that the author really spent time developing each character especially the heroine's motivation. It made me root for her. And like I said, I related to her and understood where she was coming from.

So I liked it. A lot.

This was a little something more than I expected. I liked this one, didn't love it. It's sweet, yet I was shaking my head a lot during this book. Not at the writing, at the character herself. 3.5 stars
Katy is a sport writer, in love with someone from her past and obsessed with her best friend today. Or wait, is it the other was around. She drove me crazy, the hints she didn't pick up on, the flat out truths that were spoken, and seriously can you really not pick up on the flirting and the vibes given off by certain someone's. Her best friend Mimi simply pointed out the obvious even. I wasn't quite sure who Katy would choose when a blast from the past comes back into her life and her current best friend may have his sights on someone else. Conner, best friend from the past, a friend she fell in love with and was turned away from with no contact for over 9 years or Dylan, current best friend that is her boss and a friend in her life daily for the last 7 years, I was torn that she would choose the wrong one. I loved how it ended, it ended with the very best choice, obviously to me but I believe for her too. Gave my heart a happy dance when she finally fell into the right guy!!!! I was like finally, then I was like 'oh hell'. Thankfully she fixes it and knows exactly where her heart is.

Something More Than This is a friends to lovers story. I love couples that start as friends first. They make my heart happy. Once again, Barbie brings us a light, sweet and funny story. This had a little angst and some steam, but overall was a feel good read!

Katy Lewis has a job she absolutely loves as a sports reporter for her local paper. She lives with her best friend, Mimi- who is a hoot, and has two older brothers who love her fiercely. Her editor and boss, Dylan Sterling is also a very close friend and has been for years. She is content with life. Then her childhood best friend, Conner comes back into the picture and wants to meet up with Katy.

Katy had feelings for Conner growing up. It’s safe to say, he was her first love. She’s not sure if seeing him for the first time in years will bring those feelings back. Meanwhile, in the office, Rachel is making a move for Dylan and it’s bringing other feelings for Katy. Jealously. She is jealous of Rachel. Dylan has always been a good friend to her, but there are other feelings there too. This is a bit of a stressful situation for Katy. Does she go for Conner? He’s here, it seems he’s interested… but there is Dylan who has always been there for her and seems to have had feelings for her too… I know it seems like this is a love triangle, but it really didn’t feel that way to me. And the guy I was rooting for actually got the girl for once so go me!
I want him. I want us. And I’m willing to face my fears to make it happen.

I thought Katy was a fantastic heroine and I really liked both of the guys in the story. Her man is super sweet and swoony and the one sex scene we got between them showed that their chemistry was off the charts! Honestly, this was a great read for me and I feel like it could have been an amazing 5-star read for me if there was more romance and we got more time with the couple together at the end! I was jonesing for more of their story.

If you’re looking for a sweet and enjoyable read that’s a friends to lovers story this is one I’d recommend! I’m hoping Barbie will give us a book about either one of Katy’s brothers!

4.5 I-Read-the-Epilogue-Three-Times Stars!

This is a story about first loves, friendship and chemistry... and what can happen when all three lines are blurred.

It is rare to find a book that deals with a love triangle in such a way. The author is able to treat every character with enough sensitivity without having the reader bat for the wrong guy. And what's better is that she doesn't feel the need to make him a villain either.

I related so much to Katy. I also fell hopelessly in love with one of my closest friends at 13, and I too held on to romantic notions, as if they were part of my soul. Until my 20's when, just like with Katy, real life came along and thumped me on the back of the head. Hard.
There is a scene where, after having listened to a voicemail message a gazillion times, Katy wallows over a box of memories while glugging down red wine, listening to love songs and crying her heart out. It was almost comical because it felt so familiar.

Ms. Bohrman has an uncanny ability to inject chemistry and emotion into the silent pauses of dialogue or the simplest body language of a character. It was refreshing. And so well done.

Regardless of the powerful silences and body language, each character was so well developed and had their own unique voice. (Have you noticed that in some books, characters all begin to sound like one another and unless it's explicitly pointed out, you're never quite sure who's talking? Well, that doesn't happen here.)

The supporting characters are just as unique and just as engrossing ... and I'm desperate for Katy's brother, Jonathan's story. Because... well he was his own kind of swoon-worthy.

Recommended to anyone who loves second chance romances.

This is a funny, slightly angsty read featuring a woman torn between the boy she grew up loving, and her best friend who she may just have unexplored feelings for.

Katy is a confident young sports reporter. She loves her job and works damn hard to be accepted in a male-dominated profession. She has a supportive (and hilariously intrusive) best friend, two older brothers who protect and adore her and a boss, Dylan who is also one of her best friends. Life is good for her, and then she receives a blast from the past when her childhood crush and the first man she ever loved, Conner, walks back into her life.

Katy has tried hard to forget Conner since he broke her heart nine years previously, and his reappearance brings back all of those old feelings. Through a series of flashbacks we get to see Katy and Conner’s relationship though the years, and their friendship was gorgeous, leading up to the big moment that separated them. And Conner in the present is pretty freaking awesome too – sweet, sexy and flirty – could this be Katy’s chance to have the man she’s always wanted?

But just when Katy starts to think that her and Connor’s time may have finally come, the office tramp starts to make a play for Dylan and Katy doesn’t like it. Could that be… jealousy? Suddenly seeing her long-time best friend in a new light, Katy has to dig deep and figure out what the men in her life mean to her, and which one she can’t live without.

This is a predictable but enjoyable read. Katy is a great character, she tells the story well and I could empathise with her situation – though I will admit that some of her decision making was questionable at times. The book is heavy on inner-monologue, but Katy has enough personality to carry it and I had a few giggles while reading. And the side characters were fantastic, I love her protective brothers and Katy’s best friend, Mimi was a riot!

I did feel a bit let down by the lack of romance in the book. I would have liked to see some more relationship development - I felt that one of the relationships was explored more deeply than the other, and we didn’t get enough of an opportunity to see the couple together to really feel what was going on between them. There were really only a few key scenes where I felt the chemistry between the characters - the (long awaited) sexy time was really hot, and the swoony declarations were gorgeous…

“All I see is you… All I’ve ever seen is you from the moment you walked through my door and into my life.”

.. But it took longer than I would have liked to get there, and there wasn’t enough of it to satisfy the romantic in me.

Still an enjoyable read though, and it left me with a smile on my face.

This is a short, cute book with a completely sweet friends-to-lovers story.Just the kinda read to kickback and relax with.
Katy Lewis, the protagonist, is the sports reporter for the local paper and she is very good at her job.She doesn't take shit from the coaches or players who think that just because she is a female she doesn't know much about sports. She also has an amazing knowledge of sports trivia and stats.Dylan Sterling, is her editor and one of her bestfriends. They've been bestfriends since college.Even though her other BFF Mimi, insists that Dylan has feelings for her,she doesn't believe it.

During her childhood,Katy had a huge crush on one of her brother's friends,Conner. After a certain incident in high school , following which Conner also left town, he and Katy lost touch. But, now he is back for a few weeks and asks Katy to meet up.Soon, all the old feelings and butterflies come rushing back.Just as she and Conner are re-establishing their friendship, Katy begins to acknowledge the fact that Dylan does feel something for her and she too has feelings in return, spurred by jealousy when a co-worker Rachel pursues him.She is confused and torn between her feelings for both men.

Though, this does have a love triangle I loved the fact that it doesn't have too much angst in it.Katy also doesn't spend too much time oscillating between both men in order to make her decision. When you read the book you get a pretty clear idea of who is going to get Katy ;)

Conner's return serves as a catalyst for a much needed change in her life.I loved the flashbacks featuring her time in school with Conner and her time in college with Dylan. My favorite was Dylan and Katy's first meeting during the college newspaper interview.

The secondary characters and their interactions were well fleshed out.Mimi was a riot and Katy's brothers Jonathan and Simon were great additions!!Katy's interactions with both men were adorable.I loved the daily trivia text questions that Dylan sent. The epilogue was a hilarious and perfect ending to the book.If you're looking for a sweet, contemporary read to take your mind off things , this is the one for you.

I'm going through books like I have nothing else to do, while I have four major submissions and a dissertation looming above my head. I am so screwed but then again who can say no to a good book?

I picked this one up while I was still recovering from the heartbreak I got from reading Chasing Abby by Cassia Leo (Read it and weep people. Actually you have to read the whole series to get the full effect of the story. It can be read as a stand alone too but the best is to read the whole series to properly connect with the Knights. I should now stop going on about another book during another's review)

Well I can't say this book made me get properly over that book hangover but nonetheless I feel much better than I did yesterday night. This is one of those sweet stories that give you tiny butterflies in your stomach. The story line was simple and sweet. A cute friends to lovers story. I wished they broached the subject of their friendship more but the romance was cute. Poor Connor. I felt like he was just pushed aside. Not that I didn't want that to happen any other way. We knew from the beginning he didn't hold a candle for Mr. Right. Poor Dylan, getting pushed around for seven years. I'm not gonna say anything other than that *evil laugh*

This was definitely the type to cheer me up and I would love to read more book with these characters. Though it was a short book I felt oddly connected to the characters. I definitely want more of the Mimi and more of the Lewis brothers *cough cough, Simon* and the cute cute Jonathan. He sounds like the perfect brother. I want him to find love.

With that note I'm off. Read it peeps.

This was an amazing book. I couldn't put it down until I finished it.

It's a fantastic friends to lovers story written in a very beautiful way.

Everything was perfect between Dylan and Katy but when their peace was threatened and a blaze from her past showed, Katy could no longer know what she wanted.

Dylan was a chief editor in a sports magazine. He was Katy's boss, best friend and hopfully the love of her life.

I loved the storyline and all the characters especially Mimi with her craziness. The epilogue was just so funny .

I would so much love to read about Jonathan.

Would I recommend this book?

Yes, I will definitely recommend it to romance lovers.

I would like to thank NetGalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Katy Lewis is a sports journalist for her local paper and before you say , that's odd - a girl being a sports journalist , Katy has been raised by her brothers and knows just and maybe even a little bit more about Football than most of your sporty guys. Being a sports journalist means that she has to work harder at her job than any other reporter , due to the whole gender inequality aspect. It's a good thing that her best friend Dylan is the editor for the newspaper she works at and constantly keeps her on her toes with the latest in sports trivia as we see lots of Q's and A's featured throughout the pages. The one thing though that Katy doesn't have time for is dating and relationships. Her last one ended as he told her that "sports journalism" wasn't a real journalism job. That's the equivalent of telling a fashion designer that the clothes she creates are just a bit of fabric. Also with having a older protective brother who is a cop and a younger brother who is a lawyer, they always seem to scare away any interested parties. One day Katy is with her friend Mimi and she gets a voicemail from an old friend who calls her Shadow. At first readers wonder if she had a different life or is hiding something. Turns out that the voicemail is from a guy she has not spoken to in over nine-ten years and the guy she was head over heels in love with - Connor. He was also the one guy she wanted to lose her V-Card too, but of course it never happened with him and her first ended up being her prom date. Now Connor is back in town and wants to catch up with Katy and all her feelings for him are flooding back and fast. As the pair re-ignites, so does the chemistry between them . However, there is another guy who is A) In love with Katy and B) Katy does have feelings for him but he has never really made a move towards her in that sort of way. Now that Connor is back in the picture , has Dylan lost his chance to tell Katy how he really feels ? That he loves and wants Something More Than This - than their friendship level ? The first part of the book is introducing the characters of Katy, Dylan and Connor, the second part is reading as Katy and Connor get closer and Dylan gets shoved to the side and eventually the last part is the groundbreaking age of love triangle question of what happens when you love two guys and who will you pick to spend the rest of your life with ?

I love friends to more stories...I enjoyed the 2nd half of this book with the path that the heroine chose to go and most especially the ending (the epilogue - le sigh).
The secondary characters added depth to the story and each were so interesting in their own right that I would love to get to know them more...get to read their own stories and journeys to happy and love :)
I wish I loved this story more though I do love this author and her work. I felt that the first half was too internal monologue and I needed that little extra something in the beginning to really grab my attention. And while I liked the 2nd half better because the pace picked up a bit, I wanted to see the couple together more than what we got...
All in all a good read from Barbie - I enjoy her books and will continue to read her work.

This was a cute read. It was my first from Bohrman and I'll definitely read her again.

***
Something More Than This was a nice diversion and a quick read. This served as my introduction to Bohrman's writing and I enjoyed it. The story was a little predictable, and was short, but it was fun.

What Worked:
~The premise. I enjoyed how Bohrman designed events to make Katy's worlds collide - past and present love possibilities.
~Tough, tenacious heroine. Katie went for it - usually full-tilt - when she wanted something and she had the passion to stick it out in a male-dominated career.
~Friends-to-lovers trope.
~Predictability. Sometimes it's nice to read a story having a pretty good idea where it's going.
~Format. I liked how we got a few chapters set in the past to set up for Katy's backstory.
~Large cast of characters. I enjoyed all the characters and the roles they filled.

What Didn't Work:
~Large cast. The story was a quick read. Had it been longer, the characters could have been more complex, giving the story more depth.
~Predictable elements. Some things that seemed designed to pull at a particular emotion, or were used in character building, felt contrived.

Overall, I liked Katy's story and I look forward to checking out more from Bohrman.

Something more than this was a good read. It’s the first of Barbie Bohrman’s books I’ve had the opportunity to review. And I would read her work again. The plot centers on Katy, Dylan, and Conner. But before you stop reading, there isn’t really a love triangle. At least, not the way I define them. Katy is confused when her old crush, Conner, comes home to visit. She has trouble relating how she felt about him in high school to how she feels about him now. Dylan is her best friend and boss. When Katy becomes jealous of one of Dylan’s dates, she realizes she needs to examine her feelings for him. Overall, it was a good plot. Character development was a little off for me. I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t gel with them. Katy’s feelings for Dylan came out of nowhere. And then when something happens (No spoliers here, peeps!), his reaction is a little over the top. I just wasn’t feeling it. This is when reviewing a books is difficult. I need to be honest, but, at the same time, opinions are so subjective. The reason I didn’t connect with the characters might be because of something simple… like the fact I was reading the book at three in the morning (true). So take my opinion with a grain of salt, as my dad would say. It is just that—an opinion. You might read the book (and I hope you do) and wonder what the hell I’m talking about. Trust me, you won’t be the first. The plot was, as I mentioned earlier, good. If you like the stories where friends realize they are so much more, then you’ll love Something More Than This. Are you a sucker for the bad boy or the good guy? I mean, let’s face it, bad boys have their place and they can be sexy and make our toes curl, but don’t ever count the good guys out. There’s just something about a guy with an easy smile and a soft heart.  If good guys give your heart the twitters like me, then you’ll love Connor and Dylan. Mechanics were good. There were a few POV issues, but nothing major. The copy was edited nicely, which I appreciate. There’s nothing more aggravating than a book full of errors. Bottom line: While I had a slight disconnect from the characters, this friends-to-lovers story with a HEA was still enjoyable. Definitely put this one on your TBR list.

Barbie Bohrman has the cuteness factor down pat with Something More Than This. She's written a great contemporary romance with a side of Chick-Lit. The heroine loves sports, so much so she a trivia whiz when it comes to sports facts and lingo. She's also very independent minded, but works hard, even though she sometimes waits until the last minute to meet her deadline, to her boss's dismay. But her indecisiveness is almost her downfall when it comes to love and the two men she has to choose, which for some reason won't be a surprise when she picks the one man over the other for a typical HEA found in this type of story.

Katy Lewis has a great job writing for a newspaper, even though she reports on local high school sports. She has two older protective brothers, one a lawyer, the other a police officer who is always at odds with her best friend and roommate, and bartender at her favorite watering hole. She also has a great relationship with her boss, Dylan, who she met in college, and become her mentor, even though hes only two years older than her. He got her the job at the paper, and outside of the job, they're really good friends.

One day a blast from Katy's past gets in touch with her. It's Conner, her best friend from high school who she lost touch with after she wrote him a letter telling him about her undying love for him. He left for college and never spoke to her again. Now nine years later he wants to reconnect for the short time he's in the area. Her feelings for Conner are still there, but unlike the last time, she plays it cool and keeps it to herself. She wants answers why Conner left after she wrote her letter, but she's afraid of getting hurt a second time. Then when Dylan finds out her old friend is in town, and a guy, he becomes distant. Could Dylan be jealous of her relationship with Conner. If so, what does that mean for them?

Something More Than This was a fun read with not a lot of drama and angst, other than Katy's issues with the men in her life- Conner and Dylan. The romance factor is very PG, and simply sweet. There's some miscommunication that goes on, but if we didn't have that, there wouldn't be a story. The ending is every thing you would want in a romance. Great HEA!

Need a pick me up and something to make you smile? Something More Than This is the book to hit that spot.

Writing: Light, insightfully descriptive
Violence: None
Sex: Some-(romantic)
Narrative: First person. (Katy’s point of view)
Title: Something More Than This
Author: Barbie Bohrman

If you aren’t acquainted with any of Barbie’s books, I suggest you take a look at any of her other works, like her debut, Promise Me. This novel, Something More Than This, is a great addition to her work. Barbie’s novel gets you looking deep within yourself, how you look at your life around you.

Something More Than This, gives you a trip into your inner teen for a minute. It’s a cute, and romantic read. One you will enjoy when you start to read it and gives you decent characters, and witty dialog. Katy is a sports reporter for the local paper, Florida Observer, she has a decent career, a decent friendship with her boss. Her best friend, Mimi, and her brothers, are protective of her, and help her along the way.

Same as anyone, who has a family, and friends to support them, who have finally found that notch in the world. But everyone has something they forget about as they grow up into an adult, something they put on the back burner. Something they deal with as a teenager, they didn’t think about, until they show up out of the blue. And for Katy that happens to be the crush she had nine years ago, the one who walked away without even a second glance. Conner Roberts, shows up after nine years, wanting to reconnect with lost friends, and Katy doesn’t know what to do with it. In Something More Than This, Katy has to deal with things, involving her feeling for Conner, and the ones she never thought possible with her, best friend and boss Dylan.

In Something More than This, you will see flashbacks of past and present encounters, and well as, shining light on how her brothers’ became protective of her. You will be laughing none stop, from seeing her everyday dealing with her best friend, Mimi, along with the dreadful deals with coworkers. I found I really enjoyed Something More Than This. I was entertained, from the first words. I give this 5* stars, I highly recommend this book. If you are looking for a light read, with a little comedy, then this is for you. This one will have you questioning your on angst teenage crush, but I promise you will enjoy it.

Will they / Won't They Friends to Lovers Romance

Are you a fan of friend to lover romances? Then Something More Than This will be your perfect cup of tea. Katy Lewis a female sports reporter in a male dominated business. Have no fear because Katy was raised by her two brothers (Jonathan & Simon) when their parents died. She knows her stuff and is no wilting lily. She steadily makes progress as she eyes a spot in a major market. Dylan Sterling, is her boss and good friend. She shares an apartment with her very funny and very pushy bestie, Mimi, has two overprotective brothers that adore her. Katy is content with how her life is going. Then things get shaken up when her childhood best friend and first love, Conner, leaves a message on her voicemail.

Conner comes back into town to pack up his Mom’s house because she’s moved. Or does he also have ulterior motives to “finish” something that never really got started between him and Katy? But wait! There’s more! Dylan is just Katy’s friend so why does Katy start feeling all kinds of not happy when Dylan starts “dating” the office bimbette? Therein my friends is the rub.

Katy kisses Conner. Katy kisses Dylan. Now she’s a bundle of confusion about where her heart really lives. Is it her childhood unrequired love or her friend that’s been there so comfortably that he was almost like the wallpaper. She’s torn and frankly so was I but in the end I really enjoyed how it all came together.

This book oh this book! It is the kind of sweet, romantic, not too angsty, sexy, funny yumminess that I absolutely love. I adored the John Hughes reference and the epilogue had me grinning from ear to ear. Something more than this is great chick-lit, beach read, summer/winter/fall read. Whatever you call it – call it just right.

Those of you that don’t know John Hughes – go watch Some Kind of Wonderful, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club – STAT!
Until next time….

I have to admit, this book took a little for me to get into. I liked Katy from the get go. She’s fun and smart and absolutely loves sports. In fact, I was really impressed with how much she loved sports. There aren’t that many women out there that love them as much as her. And I appreciated that there were men around her that loved that about her (those are few and far between surprisingly enough, at least in my world). Katy’s best friend Mimi was a ton of fun and her two brothers are really interesting. There’s a little minor mystery involving Mimi that I figured out right away, but seeing it play out was totally fun.

This book is a bit of a love triangle. Or it’s supposed to be. And I think that is why it took me a bit to get into. I just did not understand one side of the triangle. I mean I get unrequited love and how unfinished business can linger. And then I get that sometimes you don’t see what is obviously right in front of your face until it’s almost too late. But there were bits and pieces that made believing in the love triangle too difficult. To me there wasn’t a triangle because one side didn’t even exist in the equation.

I absolutely loved the way it played out. The man who wins Katy’s heart in the end was absolutely the perfect match for her. I wish we had gotten more of them together as a couple though. I think that would have made the book even better. I am looking forward to reading more by Barbie Bohrman. It looks like she is writing a book for one of Katy’s brothers and I’m sure that it will be a fun read. I can’t wait.

4 “two peas in a pod” stars!

This is a cute story! Something More Than This takes you on short journey through Katy’s little love triangle. The gist is Katy’s torn between a childhood crush, Connor, and the man she didn’t even know she wanted, Dylan.

“What is wrong with me? Why am I thinking about this? And why the hell does it bother me to the point that I’m embarrassed to even look at him right now.”

The story is filled with more humor than I expected, mostly from Katy’s best friend, Mimi. And the humor was refreshing. As much as I enjoy a love triangle, a love tringle with humor instead of drama is great.

“I need to get home and hide under the blankets and figure out what I’m going to do about Conner…and Dylan.”

Would I have handled things the way Katy did?!? Would I have done and said some of the silly things she did?!? Heck no, but it sure was funny!! I knew from the beginning where she needed to be, but I still enjoyed reading about her silly self getting to that place. Connor and Daniel are both great guys, but it was obvious from the very beginning, who she was meant to be with. Or at least to me it was, just not her ;)

“He’s what I want. But I don’t know how to tell him that, so the words get lodged somewhere in my throat.”

This is an entertaining and easy read that is sure to make a great weekend read. Or even better, a good beach day read. This was not my first read by this author, and not my favorite, but still very good. Let me know what you think! Happy Reading!

Katy Lewis is a sports reporter, she’s living her dream. She has a great job, an awesome roommate, and two nosy but protective brothers. All is going well until one day her unrequited first crush, Conner Roberts, shows up; causing Katy to return back to her sixteen year old self. Conner is showing an interest but for some reason Katy cannot keep her boss (and friend), Dylan Sterling, off her mind.

Whilst this included a love triangle, thankfully it was not over the top and did not feel like much. I really like Katy, she is a great protagonist. Bohrman did a remarkable job writing Katy’s struggles and emotions. I could understand what she was going through.

Conner and Dylan were great as well. I really liked both of them. And, thankfully Katy ended with the guy I was rooting for. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, her brothers were hilarious. I don’t know if Bohrman will make this a series, I sure hope she does. I would love to read about the others.

I recieved an arc of this book in exchange of an honest review.

A charming story of friendship, love and the difference almost a decade will make where matters of the heart are concerned. Something More Than This was a cute story that warmed heart as I reminisced over my own first love, best friend and the what-ifs of the past.

I found myself torn between Katy’s two realities. I understood her lack of clarity and the looming uncertainty where her heart was concerned. It was easy to see where she belonged as an outsider looking in. But taking the leap is easier said than done.

Though the beginning was slow at grabbing my attention, the story turned out to be enjoyable and I am delighted with my decision to forge on in the name of love. I am thrilled with where it concluded and would recommend it those who enjoy light stories about friends-to-lovers.

This is my first book by Barbie Bohrman . I really enjoyed it. I love a friends turned more romance. Katy thinks she is finally getting her second chance with her first love Conner Roberts, when he comes back to town. She always saw him as "the one". As a teen, she laid it out all on the line to him, only to get her heart crushed. Now he is back, can things work out this time??

Then there is Katy’s boss, Dylan Sterling. Dylan has been a constant in her life the last few years. They are friends. Why all of a sudden is she looking at him in a different way???

This was a cute story. I liked the second half of the book. It was faster paced. I must say, I kinda wanted Katy to choose the other guy.....

This book started off okay, but it really picked up for me about halfway into it. I thought the relationship between Katy and the guy she ends up with was so sweet and the ending was perfect! I also loved Katy's roommate, Mimi, how take charge and outgoing she was. However, I gave this book three and half stars because I didn't like all the curse words (lots of religious ones) and that there was such a descriptive sex scene. I liked the book, but would've loved it had it not been for those things. If you enjoy contemporary romance stories, and don't mind the issues I had with this book, then this book is for you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book to review. I was asked to give my honest opinion of the book - which I have done.

This review is based on an ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

This is another of those books that I loved from the first page to the last. The h ended up with the H that I wanted her to. It was kind of touch and go almost the whole book, kind of nerve wracking and frustrating. Just goes to show the caliber of this author if you can get THAT involved with her characters. Another one for the favorites column :)

Katy emailed the article to her editor Dylan Sterling who was editor in chief of the Florida Observer. They had known each other since they had met at their college newspaper. They had a beautiful friendship even now even though Dylan was her boss. Dylan became Katy’s mentor when they were in college together . Dylan had taught Katy all she knew on how to survive this business and then some. Dylan took a gamble on Katy and hired her and gave her the first job she had as a journalist right out of college. Katy covers the local H S sports beat. Katy has been on the Observer for the last four years. Katy is a perfectionist and that is why a lot of times she is close to her deadline on turning in an article. Katy loves what she does. Katy decided to get a career in sports journalism. Eventually she hoped to make it to the big time covering the NFL for the larger magazine in South Florida. Then getting her end goal which was working in any way, shape, or form for Sports Illustrated. You had to have tough skin to be a sports reporter and be a female. Katy got some hate mail every week but she did read every piece of it. Katy’s life turns upside down when her childhood best friend and first crush Connor got a hold of Katy and after nine years wanted to see her. Connor had been Katy’s best friend during her childhood and her first crush and he had broken her heart. Katy is scared to see Connor again. Then Connor and Katy start spending time together and Katy thinks Connor might now be seeing her as more than just a friend. But then the office floozy Rachel makes a move on Dylan and Katy wants to punch her. Katy realizes she is jealous and she has feelings more than friendship for Dylan. Then Katy also realizes Dylan seems to have some feelings for her. Katy lives with her best female friend Mimi and she has told Katy before Dylan had feelings for her but Katy hadn’t believed her. Now Katy must decide which man she really wanted.
I absolutely loved this story. It was predictable but that took nothing away from the story for me. Why all of a sudden after nine years and then after breaking her heart he may have feelings for her. I did also wish this had been a little longer but once again still loved the story. I also loved the daily trivia questions Dylan gave Katy and she usually got right. There was kinda a love triangle but in this case I didn’t mind it like I usually do. This story was sweet and made me laugh at times. I loved the plot and the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

Katy - Conner - Dylan.
You'd think a love triangle would be interesting but this one left something on the table. First, Katy wasn't the most likable character. She seemed self-absorbed, selfish and impulsive. For example, she ignores the secretary repeatedly and barges in Dylan's (her boss) office because she wants to talk to him and presumably can't do it another time. Does she want him to get in trouble? Does she not care about his career?

Then we have her friend Mimi, who is kind of obnoxious. But we see Mimi tell her that Dylan has a thing for her. Is this really the first time Mimi told her this? I doubt it because it seems in character for her to nag her about this relentlessly. But for some reason, it never occurs to Katy that Dylan might have feelings for her or that she might have feelings for him until he seems to have someone else.

So instead of thinking things through (he is her boss), she impulsively/recklessly does something that threw her off course so much she ran out to think. Think first, Katy.

In the process of all of this, she blew off her old friend and love interest, Conner.

I can't honestly say I picked up on chemistry with either man for me to be routing for one more than the other. But I didn't like the way this played out and I don't believe her sudden clarity that she doesn't love Conner and must love Dylan. I think she lacks self-awareness and was just jealous.

Given how her ex was tossed aside because of her career, I'm not sure why Katy didn't take greater care to contemplate how any of this affects her career. What she does is rare and if she can only get a job out of town, their relationship is kind of dead anyway.

Sigh. She was frustrating.
