Out with the Old, In with the New

Rate this book
"Ask your husband what he's been doing all those nights he claimed to be at the hospital..." The aforementioned suggestion would never be welcomed by any woman who'd been married for the better (well, mostly) part of twenty years. But for Kate Hennessey, who was celebrating turning forty by taking a fabulous vacation with her two best friends, the timing was not the best. Does she go, or does she stay? She'll get the answer soon enough. And though her world may be rocked, maybe she can cope better than we think. Because design is her business, after all. You know, changing things around and putting the pieces together in a whole new way....

I really enjoyed this story about a woman discovering her husband is cheating on her with a 19 year old slutbag. All the fears and doubts Kate suffered as she moved on with her separation, divorce and then the rest of her life, all felt very realistic. It was great watching Kate get her confidence back as she moved on with her life without her loser husband. My only complaint with this story is that I wish it could have been a bit longer and more fleshed out so the ending didn't feel so rushed. All in all though, this story kept me fully entertained the entire way through.

She moved forward, which was good. I would have liked a comeuppance for her ex and a 3-dimensional love interest, though.

Not too bad, though felt rushed. If the author put more time into it this could have been 5 stars.

It was a good story about life & a cheating husband. The wife comes into her own when she turns 40 & learns how to live again. Her two best friends help her get through the separation & divorce. The death of her father opens her eyes to how short life can be. Nancy Robards Thompson writes with feeling & she can make you laugh & cry. I highly recommend her stories & this is a good read!

This was a good story. I liked how the author incorporated Greek mythology. I did a lot of skimming to get through the pages and pages of words.

It's been awhile since I've picked up a book to read, months actually I don't know why that was, maybe nothing seemed to surprise me anymore. I think it did me good to stay away from reading for awhile. It gave me back some perceptive. In regards to the style of this book, it's still the same old cheating spouse on devotes caring loving partner for someone the same age as their children, mid life crisis destroys many lives. It was a coming of ages book really wife finds self after devoting herself to others her entire adult life. Good for her.
