Most readers and authors alike are familiar with Wattpad. If you aren’t you’re missing out on some amazing reads. I suggest signing up and navigating the website, there are some true gems. I’ve had Wattpad for a while, though I never really used it much. One day while scrolling through the app on my phone I came across a book by someone called Blondeanddangerous. Anyhow, I was like who’s this and what’s this book The Curves Ahead about, so I clicked and started reading. Then I realized I was on chapter 5…clearly nothing was going to get done until I finished this book. So I made some coffee, sat my ass down and curled up on my sofa to continue reading this gem that had coincidentally captured my attention.
Reading The Curves Ahead was like stepping into a magical land filled with fairies and unicorns…ok maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but this book is amazing. I am still reveling in its awesomeness (yes, I said awesomeness). I love, love, loved it! The protagonist is one you will love and the journey she takes is both inspirational and eye opening. The author does an incredible job taking real world issues —- judgements, thoughts and struggles we all face and allows the reader to absorb current events and Evianna’s dilemmas and how they relate. In a way, this book may help you chase your own demons and face them head on. I really loved this story and how engulfed in these characters I became. I rooted for Evianna through every hurdle, every disappointment, every achievement, every regret. I laughed, I cried (seriously ugly tears) and I swooned. Through it all I was not left disappointed. The story is captivating and there is something everyone can relate to. It is a book about living, loving and learning. It is about growth and knowing yourself; being able to love and accept yourself and being able to put positive energy back into the world to gain love in return. Although there were some really heartbreaking moments, I loved every minute of this journey. The reality is, people face issues on a daily basis, Evianna’s story only reinforced a message of acceptance and finding your own path through every storm and hurdle thrown your way finding a way to come out on top. This is a beautiful story that every reader should read. I cannot stress how much I loved this story. I hope you will too.
"Isn’t it a marvelous thought that everything in your entire life has led up to you being here, at this exact moment?"
"It is. But you could say that about being anywhere at any particular moment, couldn’t you?"
He winked. “You could. That’s what makes every moment special: you are exactly where you’re meant to be.”
Happy Reading Lovelies xo
The Curves Ahead is available on Wattpad for FREE, yes I said FREE.
This was such an inspirational story. This book teaches you a lot about life. Very recommended for people who have self-esteem and body image issues. This book shows us what beauty really is. Beauty can't be measured just by seeing somebody's body size or outlook. But beauty is come from the inside.
I was thinking to give this book at least 4.5 stars, until some things really bothered me and ruined everything
I'm not gonna tell you what tho. Just read this to find out. LOL
Despite those 'things' I didn't like, this book really worth to read
It is said 'Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder'. And most people really think that in order to be beautiful you have to have materialistic items equipped with them. Yes, maybe some makeup or cosmetic surgery for those who really have problems is fine, but if you ever think about inner beauty, it's what inside that counts. That's what I think Kate Squires book was about and it's very motivational.
It's a story of an Australian talk show host named Evianne Moore, who goes on a inspirational journey with a life coach. And once Evianne arrives to the other provinces in Australia, she interviews the lives of fashion models and designers on how hard it is despite the run way walks; experiences the harsh life of miners who struggle everyday to make it throughout the day; meets an interesting cosmetic surgeon; an amusing tattoo artist and people who run a nudist retreat.
Along with this experiences, Evianne also goes through a battle of learning how to work well with love at its best and learning how to forgive.
It's a real treat to read a book like this when you have similarly looked at the mirror and asked yourself if you really love what you see.
Because one day, all that makeup and other materialistic stuff will soon be gone ... just like if you were stranded on an island ... so, would you still have happiness and go on? Or will you lurk in the dark alone in shambles?
I'd definitely give it 4.5 if I could! I read it on Wattpad and compared to the majority on books there it was a massive standout! Well written with hardly any grammar errors and the plot was very well thought out and had a depth to it that is lacking usually in books on Wattpad. I'd be extremely happy to buy a copy if it gets published, (which I fully support!)
This is an amazing story of love, beauty, true friendship and much more. In this story the author conveys what it means to be in love. This is also a story about loving yourself, accepting yourself and finding yourself. I liked the way a journey changed Eviana's life, how she found herself and she accepted herself.
Loveeeeee this book.. I can totally relate to Evi..the heroine, because i have the exact same issues. So yeah this book really touch my heart. There are so much I learned in this book.
This book is about to accept yourself with your flaws because nobody is perfect, to be grateful with everything you have, to be happy with everything, to be happy just by being you, to be happy without attached to materialize things, never take all the goodness in your life for granted because there are people who may not as lucky as you, to realize there are so many goodness all around you, to not just focus to what you don't have, to just be proud of you, to start choose what's good for you, and to not judge yourself or anyone else. And this book is also about the beauty of friendship and love. Yup..this book is awesomeeee... I cried a lot (i'm a cry baby), I laughed, I smiled, I got angry, and learned a lot of things. Yups this book is packed with a lot of goodness. An emotional roller coaster.
You have to read this...READ...READ...READ THIS BOOK. You MUST READ THIS AMAZING BOOK.
Plot: This book is about a curvy girl who was disgraced by her family and her producer but her fans like her so much that the producer can't fire her for being curvy. And the guy she liked who she works with everyday only thinks of her as a friend and it hurts her but then she get to travel around for her job. And she finally finds the one guy she has been looking for and he makes her good about herself for about the first time in forever. And it's something that you wouldn't really expect and their relationship really makes me happy that guy she liked missed his chance and found the man of her dreams.
Personal Response: This book is just amazing and it's just truly a confidence booster that even us curvy girls can have at love. My favorite part was when she was proud about herself but wasn't at the same time mainly because of how much I can relate to it. And the fact that how true this story could be amazes me it.
Recommendation: I would recommend this to a mature audience because of the language but it was a really good book. It was only a few cuss words so I would say 16+
as always, the author makes my heart strings tug with emotions. im laughing and crying when reading it because its so good!!! inspirational even, makes u love the life u have and u can make changes with it too
A beautifully written story. It made me laugh, cry and cheer at the end when Evianna finally learned to love herself as well as a certain ex co-host. I also enjoyed reading about life in Australia - Kate painted a wonderful picture without making the story lag.
I struggled with what rating to give this book. There were glaring errors that I'm sure would have been caught by a good editor, but for the most part, I've learned to look over typos and such when reading stories on Wattpad. What was more difficult to bypass was the overt agenda that the author was pushing. While I don't have anything against a heroine who goes on a search for good health and self-acceptance, there were passages in this book that switched from storytelling to full-on teaching mode and it was off-putting.
Still, there were good things that kept me reading to the end. The relationship between our heroine and her personal assistant was warm and engaging. All of the dialogue was vibrant enough that I could hear the Australian accents in my head, and there were many passages that "hit me in the feels", as the kids say. I plan to try another book by this author to see if she has another book that captures all these fun elements without the preaching.
Aww this brings back good memories of spending so much time on Wattpad, back when it was still good! I think I've read and reread this book 6 or 7 times, as a curvy girl myself it has brought me so much appreciation for myself and the friends in my life that see me for what and who I am. The set up is so original and refreshing, while not shying away from the harder topics like bullying, grief and shame. Truly love Evianna's story! I definitely have to get back to it soon.
To be honest, the book didn't live up to the hype for me. The concept was wonderful- some of the incidents left me emotional, but I really couldn't feel for the characters, except a bit about Heather. Evi's transformation journey was good in most parts. The writing was good, and it was a fine one-time read for me.
I love love love this book. It is so inspiring. The way the character overcome the obstacles along the journey is definitely one I will follow in my life. Kate J Squires writing never failed me. ❤
Loved it. Loved that the heroine was not your average size but still beautiful and that she was feisty. Her path of self discovery was awesome. Great job! Highly recommend. one of the best on Wattpad.
I loved the book a lot. It really helped me at the time when I was myself battling with accepting myself. Hope it can inspire and motivate you as well.
This book is sooooo good. I found it on wattpad, just randomly came across it and I read it because I was just bored. But I finished this book without stopping. I could relate so much.
Synopsis - A story set in Australia; The Curves Ahead is a delightful story of a woman who struggles with weight issues. Often seen in today’s world, obesity and being overweight is a major lifestyle concern, this Wattpad novel focuses on self-discovering yourself and looking beyond the measurements of the body. Evianna is a 20 something woman and the host of the number one morning show. She has all what an average person could only dream of. Adored my millions of people in and around Australia, Evianna’s heart and soul craves for only one person – her drop dead gorgeous co-star. But the plus size role model struggles with negative body image. Overcoming her fears, she embarks on an adventure to rediscover her identity and make peace with her body. Most favorite dialogue from the novel – Sometimes, the random event in your life can be the best thing ever happened to you. Why would I recommend this book to others – Firstly, India is the 2nd largest obesity affected country; that means every third person is obese or overweight. And no one really brings ahead the negative feelings they have towards the weight shown on the scale. This novel helped me lead a better life and would help one third of a billion to fight issues of weight gain. But also, eat right! It’s about discovering who you are and not how much you weight, it’s about having a happy soul and not the ideal body weight…
I rarely make book review partly because I'm a very lazy person but for this book I'm make an exception. I can't just do like I normally would and said that it was amazing and that I have nothing to say. But that's not true because I read this book going in to it think that is would just be a book that I would read on wattpad and forget about in a week. I can't do that now because what Kate J. Squires did was made me want to be a better person. I one day want to write a book that made me feel the something way that I did when I was reading The Curve Ahead.
So after all of my little rant I want to thanks for making a difference.
P.s. this is the longest review I've ever made on Goodreads.
A great read!! I truly enjoyed this young woman's journey as she battles media and society standards regarding beauty and self-worth. Insightful and realistic. Kate Squires adresses an issue faced by so many people (both yung and old) today: that of being accepted for who we are as individuals and not what we look like. Beauty is not just on the outside it is first and foremost who we are on the inside. I would even use passages in a teaching context!! Thanks Kate for sharing your gift with your readers!!!
I LOVED THIS STORY!!! I can not emphasize this enough. This was a story that dragged me through the ringer. It was so refreshing to actually CARE about a character. I laughed, I cried, I felt the highs and the lows that Evi went through. And what more, Evi is a plus sized character. You don't get those often. I really appreciated that and was very eager to read this story. It has set the bar so high that nothing has even come close to it. Loved this story, and love the other stories Kate offers us.
If there is ever a book I read that advocates for self worth, its this one. You have to learn to love yourself, no matter your size.Learn to appreciate the beauty inside....Its one book that had me turning the pages till late at night. I get why it won the Watty's award. Wattpad sure has some amazing stories
