If you consider communication as an important tool in your success (both at professional and societal levels) or you plan to polish your communicating skills more or you wish to become more confident in your strategies, this book is for you.
The author Rakesh Godhwani is a known name in persuasive communication arena. With more than one successful book published in his name, his expertise is nothing to be scrutinized. His experience and expertise is something that you can benefit from by understanding and practicing his techniques. The main highlight of this book is – AEIOU and Xtra E technique. He follows a set format wherein he scrutinizes the given scenarios under these elements.
More clarity imparts more confidence and increased confidence leads to better communication between the two parties (i.e. speaker and listener). In addition to the description and the analysis, he makes this book an important tool by incorporating practical scenarios and working exercises. The readers (and the teachers / professors) will find it as an useful resource for a long time.
The feature that makes this book stand apart in the crowd of similar books from same genre is inclusion of – when to shut up. Yes, though, generally we all advocate the importance of silence but very rarely, we are able to bring it into practice. He touches upon the points where ‘Silence’ is the key and using this ‘key’, he unlocks many opportunities for the readers to identify and grab!
Personally speaking, I have represented one of my past employers in the capacity of Communication Manager and thus, I could very easily understand his guiding principles behind the book. I recommend this book to almost everyone who can read and wishes to communicate effectively irrespective of age, qualification, profession or say gender. I wish it had some more examples about the psyche and implementation behind when and how to shut up.
WHAT TO SAY AND WHEN TO SHUT UP ~ By Rakesh Godhwani; what an excellent SHB (Self Help Book) just i completed today. I was reading this for last 2 months. It is not a bulky book, but it’s a book of around of 250 pages; where tons of wealthy information, tips on persuasive communication embedded on each page; where reader need time to engulf sip by sip. There are plenty of reference from books, there are case studies, exercise, and role-play, and there are video reference from YouTube, TEDx. This book will teach you AEIOU (this is the USP of this book) of public speaking, persuasive communication, elevator pitch, presentation skills and about many more types of talk that we need to do in our day-to-day life.
