My dad bought this for me at Borders. It's really interesting. I love the sketches and techniques...

This is NOT a step by step book, and if you think it is, don't waste your money on it. It's a book comprised of about...five or six books I believe, and is for the more serious artist. It's FILLED with amazing protrait and other expressive drawn pictures inside that help to improve and give you techniques about drawing. While there really isnt ANY book out there that can teach you how to draw, this book comes the closest to helping you draw AND letting you develop your own style.

I hate those step by step books that teach you how to draw, because it's entirely the way the author/illustrator of the book would have drawn it. While they do help with perhaps anatomy or other tips, the drawing is never really yours.

I haven't done my "homework" with this one yet, but in glancing through from time to time; I know it supplies me with enough instruction to improve my drawing abilities.
