Shit happens…

Supermodel Lior Flynn is at the top of her game: gorgeous, confident, and successful. But as her thirtieth birthday looms, she finds herself growing tired of the constant media scrutiny and even more tired of men who only view her as arm candy. Yearning to travel the world's beautiful places rather than just pose in them, she's ready for a change and ready to make a real connection—if she can find the courage to take the first step.

Bestselling novelist Graham Forrester is still reeling from the collapse of his marriage to a flashy socialite turned influencer, and officially done with high-drama women. Trapped post-divorce in a house that no longer feels like home and tending to his beloved old dog Brontë who doesn't have long to live, he knows he's stuck in a desperate rut but has no idea how to get out.

When Lior's designer sneaker hits a steaming pile of you-know-what from the sweet golden retriever at the end of Graham's leash, it's no meet cute--in fact, it's a meet-poop. And every encounter after is somehow messier than the first, until a chance moment when both let their guards down and sparks fly. But can Lior trust Graham not to put her in a book and bolster his own fame? And can Graham trust that the drama of Lior's life won't derail his own?

Read for a cover quote, which I'm delighted to provide:

THE MEET POOP marks historical novelist Noelle Salazar's side-quest adventure into the world of romcoms, and she's got a gift for it: endlessly likeable characters, vivid backdrops and solid friendships, and one adorable dog. Supermodel Lior and jaded novelist Graham collide in the messiest possible way when Graham's aging retriever plops a pile in the way of Lior's designer shoe, and it's anything but a meet cute. Subsequent meetings only prove how wrong they are for each other: after a lifetime in the spotlight Lior is wary of men using her for her fame; and after being burned by a voracious social media influencer ex-wife, Graham is wary of high-drama women. But what if they're so wrong they're right? I rooted for their happy ending, smiling till the final page

Historical Fiction author Noelle Salazar tries her hand at her first rom-com, and it is an absolute delight.

First, the 𝒶𝒽𝑒𝓂 elephant in the room.  The title refers to a meet-cute involving the two main characters who have their first meeting when the FMC literally steps in a pile of the MMC's canine best friend's doo-doo--- setting off a bit of an enemies-to-lovers vibe.  I've got two kids and several pets of my own, so a little potty humor does not deter me in the slightest 😂.  Anyway, you get the gist - this is a funny, lighthearted romance that does not take itself too seriously but still packs a serious and heartwarming punch.

I am impressed by Salazar's ability to seamlessly delve into the romance genre - and I love these two characters.  Although we have some familiar tropes (enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, miscommunications), they are incredibly well-done and seem fresh.  Both the main characters are loveable but still flawed, and the miscommunications aren't overblown.  There is the perfect amount of spice for me - it's a slow burn but there's tons of chemistry.

Thanks to the author for the opportunity to be an early reader for this fun read.  Highly recommend!

What a fabulous read! I was drawn right into the story and immediately fell in love with the two main characters. Lior is an endearingly quirky super model tired of the limelight and disillusioned by a string of disappointing love affairs, and Graham is a reclusive novelist reeling from a painful divorce and facing the possibility of losing his best friend- an adorable dog named Bronte. Their journey to find real love is heartfelt and hilarious from their first messy encounter to a hoped-for happily ever after. If you're looking for a story to make you laugh, cry and feel with all your heart, this is it!

Came for the premise, stayed for the swoons.

I knew I loved Noelle Salazar's beautifully evocative works of historical fiction, and her first foray into the romcom genre did not disappoint. I loved the characters (including - maybe especially? - Bronte!!), and enjoyed how their hijinks turned to thoughtful, poignant connection. And there's something warmly nostalgic about the vibes of this book, especially the way New York is depicted - at times it almost felt like I was watching a favourite 90s romcom. It was so much fun to cozy up with this delightfully escapist read.

Cute Rom-Com plot- ✔️, Loveable but real characters- ✔️ , enemies to lovers- ✔️ , great minor characters (including a sweet dog) - ✔️, open door/steamy - ✔️
I've loved every historical fiction that Salazar has written so it was fun seeing her branch out. I already knew it would be well written and that I would fall in love with the characters!
The storyline- famous author meets even more famous supermodel. They both discover there's so much more beneath what we see on social media!
(The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the spice was more explicit than I prefer)

THE MEET POOP, a sexy, banter-filled romcom, gets steamy when glamour meets grumpy. Noelle Salazar proves that her gift for character development extends beyond her popular historical fiction novels as she forays into this delightful, refreshing romance. Once you set foot in it, you’ll root for this down-to-earth, celebrity couple. Highly recommend!
