The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about an outbreak of a new deadly virus—"Blood Fever." Any person you pass on the street could be a carrier. To make it through the outbreak, you'll have to make the right decisions. When YOU CHOOSE what to do next, can you survive a plague that reaches across the globe?
Matt Doeden was born in southern Minnesota and lived parts of his childhood in Golden Valley, Minnesota, and Madison, Minnesota. He studied journalism at Mankato State University, where he worked at the college newspaper for three years. In his senior year, he served as the paper's Sports Editor, which put him in charge of the entire sports section, the sports writers, and the photographers. He covered mostly college sports, but also the Minnesota Vikings, who held training camp at MSU.
His work allowed him to meet and interview people like Dennis Green, Cris Carter, Robert Smith, and more. Matt went on to work as a sports writer for the Mankato paper, and then he got a job as an editor with a small children's publisher called Capstone Press, and in 2003 he decided to start his own business as a freelance writer and editor.
Since then, Matt has written and edited hundreds of books. Lots of them are on high-interest topics like cars, sports, and airplanes. He also writes and edits on geography, science, and even math.
I stumbled across the one "good" ending pretty early on, and after that all the other endings felt pretty similar. Your options were to catch the virus and die, or survive through some sort of isolation. The other stories I've read from this series seemed to have a bit more variety than this one.
Unlike other Can You Survive books, this book is of a similar length and has one storyline. Effective so that I fell under the doomsday mood for a few moments.
This seemed rather appropriate to read during our current pandemic, but it also just happened to be the next one that I received from the library.
On my first read-through, I made the quick decision to fly home to America and then hide out in the woods until the virus passed. This turned out to be one of the only good endings in the entire book, because pretty much every other storyline I followed had me die a miserable death.
Is it weird, then, that I found this a lot of fun to read?
This was OK, But the thing is, HOW COULD ONE SINGLE HERB POSSIBLY HELP??? HOW could you be SCARED by someone VISIBLY PICKING HERBS??? I mean i get it in one of the shoices your friend is shot and all BUT A PERSON PICKING LEAVES??? Kinda Ridiculous.

I really enjoy books like this. I was glad to see some You Choose books that dealt with things like virus outbreaks. These are great books for reluctant readers. I also like the information at the end. Especially the survival kit. Fun and informative book!
