I'm happily married to a wonderful wife, Heather. I have two beautiful children that I am very proud of. They keep me busy around the house but I don't mind.

I have been working for the United States Postal Service since 1999. It's a job and it gets crazy at times. I'm proud to work for them (most nights), but I have to admit. They aren't the brightest of the bunch when it comes to certain things.

I have always loved to write since I've been seven years old. I still have my first story I ever wrote in school. One day I'll scan it and put it up here for the world to see.

I have a busy life at home. I work overnights and my wife works afternoons, so I sleep 3-5 hours if I'm lucky and then I have my kids the rest of the day. I find time to write while I'm at work. I write during my break and lunch hour. It works for me.

I read all types of books: Mysteries, Science Fiction, Paranormal, Fantasy. When i write though, I write mysteries. I write because I love to. I don't expect to get rich. I am still figuring out the proper way to promote things. If you have any tips I'd be happy to hear them.

I usually do the twitter, facebook, blog promotions. I put my name out there on other blogs, offer to do interviews etc... People enjoy my stories and that's all that matters for me.

If you ever have any questions feel free to contact me. I love to hear from people.

Tony Gavel is a ex-cop and now runs a very successful PI business. He specializes in missing person cases. His morning starts with his office being ransacked and a beautiful new client walking through his door.

This is one of the best PI books I have read. Tony Gavel is an amazing investigator that always manages to get himself into tough spots. The new case he takes on takes him for quite the twist when he finds the missing person, only to find him dead by apparent suicide. His client doesn't believe it was suicide and neither does Tony.

The investigation just keeps going deeper and deeper as he closes in on a pimp and a bookie. He meets a special lady along the way and reveals some of his past and the trauma he went through in his last relationship and the unsolved case.

This book will take you on many different adventures and will take twists that I did not see coming. The characters are well designed and the interaction between them is realistic. I can sympathize with Tony and found him to be believable as an ex-cop and a private investigator. He is a great lead character. He is a risk taker and he is fun and interesting to follow along with.

This book will keep you guessing and keep you turning the page. The action is superb and the depth of the story is quite engaging. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from JW Metcalf and more about Tony Gavel and his adventures.

Nicely plotted with a developed cast. Lite cussing (1 F-bomb), would read author again with hopes lite would become nil as they weren't needed for plot or edification. No graphics in sexual activity, some editing errors.

Please note: I was given a free copy of the book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Tony Gavel is an ex-police officer who now runs his own P.I. business that specializes in missing person cases. Coming into work one morning, Tony discovers the door to his office was jimmied opened and everything in it tossed. In the middle of cleaning up, he is visited by beautiful Merissa Talbert who asks his help in finding her husband's business partner. When he goes home, Tony finds someone in his home office tossing it; but after a fight ensues, the perp uses a stun gun on Tony, and gets away. After a call to the missing business partner goes unanswered, Tony goes to his house and finds the missing partner dead in his own home of an apparent suicide. After looking around the victims home, it's not as clear cut as the police think it is.

Tony reports back to Merissa, who also refuses to believe it was a suicide and now requests Tony to find his killer. After interviewing Merissa's husband, Anthony at their business, Tony is followed and shots are fired at him. To make matters worse, someone fire bombs his office. Is his ransacked office, the shots fired at him, and the bombing of his office all related? I don't want to say any more but you need to buy the book. It was well planned out and there are many twists and turns. Tony's investigation is great and all the loose ends are tied up neatly at the end.

I do want to mention that in the copy that I received, there were a few grammatical errors throughout the book that any editor could fix in no time. I don't know if all copies are like this or what, but the errors I did find did not distract from the story. I gave it a 5 star rating despite the errors, because it was a thoroughly enjoyable book that had me totally engrossed in the story ( I started this book late last night and read it all day today because I couldn't put it down), it was well plotted and I loved the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves P.I. novels.

I found this book a bit boring. There were many times when I found it hard for me to push on and finish. The author added many scenes that were of no use to the actual story line and found myself just skimming over it a bit. The main story line was a good one and with some tweaking and with more experience I think this could be a good book. The author did a good job of eluding the reader to who the killer was. It took a while before I actually had a good idea who did it. I would probably not recommend this without some more editing and revising.

Fair

Needs an edotor, grammar mistakes throughout, but at least they were consistent your = you're, than = then, to = too. The story, a private eye case, was okay.
