We're both addicted to sex, just not with each other.
We're both addicted to sex, just not with each other.
A busy emergency room is Julia Blakely’s safe haven and it’s the last place she expects to find her high school friend. The last time she was him he disappeared from her life, leaving her with nothing more than a note.
In his true bad-boy fashion, Scar Wagner arrives on a gurney, naked and covered in paint, but he can barely remember his own name. That’s what happens when your buddies dare you to dance at the strip club you own.
As Julia tends to the predicament between his legs, past’s memories flood her and she can’t get Scar out of her mind. Fortunately she has a way to find him and when she does, it feels as if no time has passed between them.
Drawn to each other, Scar and Julia quickly forget why they decided to keep their distance. As their conversation flows, old feelings awaken and a need they’ve both denied since high school, grows.
But the past and family matters aren’t as easy to erase. As Julia struggles to help her mother, and Scar fights to shake off his father’s side business dealings, they fail to see that a familiar stranger lurks not far away.
And he has a plan for them both.
Join the hot doctor and the sexy bad-boy dancer as they fight past their misconceptions about relationships and try to ignite that spark they’ve always held for each other in their hearts.
Suitable for mature audience. While Cheaters Anonymous is a stand alone novel, it is advisable to read its short prequel When Things Go Wrong.
USA Today Bestselling Author Lacey Silks writes seat-gripping romantic suspense with heat and spice. She’s married to most of her characters and tortures her husband with quirky book roles. Lacey’s two kids and her dog Kygo fill her time with homework questions and sweet licks all over her face (the dog not the kids).
When she’s not writing seat-gripping and heart-throbbing stories, Lacey enjoys camping and skiing with her family. She’s an early bird by nature and drinks coffee instead of water, because that’s how her busy billionaire heroes do it.
Lacey’s flawed and relatable characters fill the pages with laughter, snark and tears. She judges men by the size of their feet, loves sexy lingerie, and can’t live without her “boost juice”: coffee.
There are books that grab your attention from the first page and I felt a rush of excitement as I read the first three chapters of Cheaters Anonymous. Unfortunately, the story goes downhill from there and never regains its footing. The plot is flimsy at best and nonsensical most of the time.
Two friends, Julia and Scar, spend their lives avoiding relationships because they believe that everyone cheats. Although they’re attracted to each other, Julia’s addicted to sex and Scar’s never had sex with anyone more than once. They worry that sex will ruin their friendship so they go back and forth about whether or not to start a relationship. They talk —a lot—about wanting to have sex with each other but decide it’s best if they remain just friends. Then they decide they should date but not have sex until they’ve gone on at least two dates. But then they can’t wait that long, they have to have sex right now. But no, they really should wait after all. One minute they don’t believe in relationships at all and the next they know that when they finally have sex with each other they won’t want to make love with anyone else for the rest of their lives. Huh? The anticipation was great by the time these two sexperts eventually did make love; however, I thought it was a very rushed and clichéd sex scene and the subsequent ones weren’t much better.
I did like Julia and Scar but, with the exception of Scar’s mom, I didn’t care for most of the supporting characters.
The side plot involving Julia’s creepy stalker who is fixated on having sex with her provides a welcome diversion in the beginning but winds up being overdone.
This book was received as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Purch Amazon July 23, 2018 I'm not going to finish this one. DNF at 40%. I just can't take another 'Whoa is Me, I'm a Sex Addict' 'Cry me a River' over blown angst, etc. The writing itself seems pretty good as far as typos etc. But I just can not take it.
One of the factors that make a book a very good one is the impact it has on your emotions, not only while you’re reading it, but also after the end of it. So, that’s how i can easily say that this book is really an amazing one.
It’s about the different stages Nick aka Scar and Jules ‘s relationship goes through during the years.
BUT!!! That’s WHERE the book gets really clever and, along with Scar and Jules’s story, it talks also about the sex addiction and the biggest problem of the most of today’s relationships, the cheating.
But let’s begin from the start and get back to Scar and Jules! :)
Nicholas Scar Wagner is the youngest son of the wealthy Wagner family. Since high school, he was a guy with a very special personality and with beliefs that you don’t usually see in 17-year-old boy. He’s well-built, hot and a guy with a golden heart.
Julia Blakely is also coming from a wealthy family. Along with her sister, Zoey, are the two daughters of the Blakely family. Julia is a girl that is smart, beautiful and has goals from which the ultimate is to become a doctor.
Scar and Jules meet during their final year at senior high school and become best friends ever since.
The book is actually telling what happens between the two of them when they reconnect after almost a decade. And i strongly believe that this is the moment where i should pay my respect to the amazing Lacey Silks for the awesome first scene of the book. It really cracked me up like nothing else!!
The story has an intensity that you can’t find easily in a book. Also, the variety of the emotions that sparks inside you is really remarkable. There are many scenes that will have you laugh really hard, staring the screen (or the pages) open-mouthed, biting your nails to the core from agony of what will come next and even some that will fill you with a bit of sadness. But nothing of them all can change the fact that this is a book that worths your time and that you can’t help but to love it!
As for the characters, each one of them is a whole different unique world who, when you put them all together in a story, they send it in a whole new level. But i think i should say a few words about Jules and Scar as the star-characters and let you discover on your own the captivating amazingness of the others. ;)
Scar and Jules are two characters who become very special to your heart from the start because of all these situations that they have gone through. And seeing them dealing with the after effects of them while fighting for a new dimension in their relationship just make them much more lovable.
Lacey Silks has created a story that not only speaks about love and friendship, but also about sex addiction - that can change a person completely and also make him sometimes do some very dangerous things- and about cheating that is one of the biggest causes of a break up nowadays. Through the story, she makes you see that the fear of a possible cheating can change a person’s opinion about relationships and make him scared of the complete commintment to another person.
I recommend it undoubtedly because you don’t find easily books that are so well-written and leave you breathless.
NOTE: Before you start reading Cheaters Anonymous, you should read first the When things go wrong which is the prequel of the actual story.
After reading the prequel ‘When Things Go Wrong’, I was quite excited to read this book. The first few chapters were very gripping but unfortunately the story goes downhill from there and only regains its footing after the halfway mark. Just when I was about to give up and stop reading what was an excruciatingly slow and repetitive story, the author flipped the script and had me caught up in this heated, drama filled love story. I found the book nonsensical most of the time as I was not able to understand how two seemingly smart people could have gone to such extremes when it comes to relationships and sex.
I will try my best to not give away any big spoilers... Julia and Scar have a history that goes way back to when they were high school seniors to meeting up again a few years later at a ski resort, to Scar now ending up in Julia’s ER due to an incredibly hilarious and embarrassing accident with his "ding-a-ling". Julia and Scar spend their lives avoiding relationships because they believe that everyone cheats and for most of the book the two try and fight the undeniable chemistry and feelings they have for each other and being in a relationship together.
And then there's Julia's creepy stalker Brad who is fixated on having sex with her. He really goes to extremes for just one romp in the sack with her and causes a lot of drama for Julia and Scar.
The one thing I really, really, really, really like about this book though is SCAR! He is all alpha male, sex on wheels, very protective and sweet.
I hope there will be sequels featuring Scar's equally delectable brothers, Axel and Ace.
2 Not-What-I-Expected-Stars! ☆☆ My initial opinion was, the cover's hot but my idea of what the book would be about...was so wrong. The beginning was filled with too much backstory filler and then once it started getting good, it stopped. Suddenly Scar used to be a fighter 'in fight club with brutal men'...whatever the f#%k that means. Why?! He was a rich kid who for some reason felt he needed to sell weed throughout high school to make money. Again...Why?! And the Strip-Club... Scar wants to have girls dance downstairs and men dance upstairs. But i doubt men and women would be attending a club that had both. It sounds great in theory but not realistic. Scar suddenly becomes the perfect boyfriend when he starts taking care of Julie. :) Even though either of them have never went out on a second date with anyone else, somehow they make it work...with no problems. :/ weird, but who am i to judge. The other weird thing is, when they did finally have sex, towards the end, i was kinda over it. The whole story didn't blend the way i thought it should. The concept is great but not the way it was executed. Everything became about Brad, the evil villain in this story, and not really about cheating or cheaters, which it the title of the book. (Just a little misleading.) This book should have ended with the first time Brad was caught and put in jail. Why stretch it out...? Just be warned, the story continues for 3,4 chapters before he escapes. (How does an inmate escape a holding cell in jail?) stupid :/ I was hoping i would enjoy this book more than i did. :(
I was given an advance copy by Ms Silks for an honest review and I have to say that I loved this book! I'm a big fan of hers and I read this in two days. Scar and Julia have known each other since high school. They became best friends with no benefits, both agreeing that it was better this way since they both came from families that were torn apart from cheating parents. When Jules went away to college they grew apart, but she never forgot her best friend. Several years later, on a ski trip with her Mom and sister, Jules runs into Scar where they reconnect. On the last day of her vacation they decide to ski together and get caught in an avalanche. Since Scar new this area very well, he's able to save them by digging to a cave in the snow. Until they get rescued staying warm is a priority and not a hardship since they've always had an attraction to each other. Forward several years later, Jules is now an ER doctor in New York, where she thought she had seen everything. When a gorgeous, drunk man is brought in covered in paint with a contraption on his penis, Jules can't believe that it's Scar. She finds out that he works at a strip club, not realizing that he's the owner, when she goes to visit him. As they get to know each other again, and Scar wants to have a relationship with her, can Jules tell him about her past mistakes on her sex addiction. She's come come so far in the therapy but can she commit to just one man. This story is one of awakening, trust and love. It's an incredible love story that I highly recommend.
This was a different read and even though I haven’t read the first book it made me fall for the characters.
The story is continued as Julia is a doctor and treats Scar (who owns a strip club) and they meet at the ER after 6 years from an incident they had (that scene is hilarious) They struggle with the connection they have because they both don’t believe in relationships. They fight to understand their need for one another and try to rationalize how they feel.
I can say that this book can treat every appetite as it has humor, mystery, a stalker and unbelievable chemistry.
Review by Allison East I enjoyed this book from Lacey Silks and really liked how the main characters relationship changed over the course of the story and through the years. It's really interesting to see how their relationship evolves and how cheating will play a role. It had me intrigued from the first page.
Note- There is a prequel novella- When Things Go Wrong you may want to read. This story begins six years before when Nick Scara left Julia with a note, in a cave after an avalanche leaves them stranded. You don't necessarily have to read When Things Go Wrong before you read this, but it will give you history- so that you understand Nick and Julia's story.
Nicholas Scar Wagner is a part of a wealthy family. He has a great personality and he totally wears his heart on his sleeve. And you think he is going to be this big, jerk snob, but he actually isn't. He owns Hounds, which is a bar/strip club, and Julia comes to see what it is all about after they reconnect over a funny opening scene that you will have to read to believe
Julia Blakely comes from a rich family as well. She has a sister named Zoey. Julia is very smart and wants to become a doctor. The characters meet their senior year and are inseparable. After Scar left her, she used sex and men to get him out of her system, and she became obsessed with getting him out of her head. She is actually in a sex addiction group now, and works in the ER where she met up with Nick after all these years.
After high school, they lose touch and the book is actually about when they chance meet up after many years. The story was really well told and had a lot of emotions- I was laughing, and curious- and also sad. Both Scar and Julia have an air of mystery about them and the past comes back to haunt them in an awful way, putting them at risk. Scar will do whatever it takes to look after her. There are also a lot of very passionate sexually-charged bits that I loved- it added so much passion. Can't wait for more from this new to me author!
This was such a great book!! If you've read the novella When Things Go Wrong, then you've met Nick Wagner, aka Scar, and Julia Blakely. This story begins six years after Scar left Julia with only a note, after their encounter in the cave, in When Things Go Wrong. It is not necessary to read When Things Go Wrong before you read this, but it will give you background history.
For six years, Julia has been trying to forget the one man she has been aching for. When he shows up in the emergency room dressed like a stripper and covered in paint with his penis stuck in a penis pump, all the feelings she had been fighting for the past six years come crashing back. After Scar left her, she used sex and men to get him out of her system, to the point of obsession with sex. After nearly getting herself killed, she left Washington and moved to New York to get away from the danger she put herself in with her sex addiction. Once in New York she joined a support group called Cheaters Anonymous. She has not been with a man for the past two years with the help of her support group.
Scar couldn't believe that his Julia was in New York. He was even more surprised when she showed up at Hounds, the strip club/bar he owned after he was released from the hospital. Julia had been his best friend in high school. After their night together six years ago, he knew he had to fight his own demons and get his life straight. Now that Julia is back in his life, he realizes he wants to be in a relationship with her, which is one thing he didn't ever see as possible.
Both Scar and Julia have secrets and the past comes back to haunt them in a terrible way, putting them in danger. Scar will do anything to protect her.
I loved this book because you learn so much about Scar and the other Wagner brothers. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. I laughed, swooned, screamed and cried while reading this book. I highly recommend this and all of Lacey's books!!
Let me go ahead and let you know that the minute you read the beginning of this book, you will not stop. It is so over the top hilarious that it will hook you. And I'm glad it did because this story was a delight to read. Lacey Silks took us on a journey between the past and present seamlessly. The passion and spark between Jules and Scar is palpable. The emotion underlying this story is so strong you won't be able to stop once you begin to read.
Be prepared to laugh, a lot, and maybe cry (i did), and possibly be SO involved in the story-line that you might just forget everything around you. It's not an overly dramatic story, but it's told dramatically. It hooks you. That's ALL on Lacey Silks and he writing ability #EXCEPTIONAL
ARC provided by MyLit Publishing via NetGalley for an honest review
This is an amazing book. There are a lot of laugh-out-loud moments. I absolutely loved this twisted and hilarious story of two people who have hard time trusting opposite sex. Jules and Scar both witnessed one of their parents cheat and break other ones heart. In Jules case, her parents divorced but Scar's parents stayed together. In any case both had hard time dealing with it and they decided that they will never have real relationship with anyone. Their shared experience made them good friends. In school they become inseparable but then Jules move away to a different State and they grew apart. After a long time they are re-united. But this time they want more then friendship from each other. They are scared of hurting each other but maybe their fear is exactly what will make their relationship so much stronger. what they did not expect was to see Brad, he might make things more complicated.... I find this story quite sad in a way. But it is also full of hope and love. I liked the way Lacey Silks developed these characters. They will stay with me for a long time. I think this book is a must read for fans of romantic comedies. I personally things that these are the best kind of books, a treat for all book lovers.
Julia and Scar's story continues, and it's full on action that includes a stalker that not only threatens Julia's new found but frail relationship with Scar, but her very existence. And not just her life, but her career as a doctor could be over if he exposes a secret that she thought was taken care of years ago. She fears she will lose Scar if he ever knew about that part of her.....Scar also holds a secret about the stalker...... His Mother, Beth, holds perhaps the the biggest secret of all! But there is plenty of action going on in the erotic side of things. Even the build up....the little "games", ...and how he sets up a "date" so they can do it right, instead of a one night stand, is oh so erotic in itself, so when they finally get it on, it's down right explosive! But it seems that each time something goes good, something else has to try and destroy it.....But the incredible twists throughout this story all come together along with an unexpected person, to make a most amazing and thought provoking conclusion.... I would dearly love to see Zoey and Ace's story next..
FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE AUTHOR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
I really hated this book! If it wasn't for the fact that I had two other books to review by this author, including the next book in this series, I would likely never read this author again!
The main problem I had was that I was so bored by this book! It was an excruciatingly slow and repetitive story, and even the stalker suspense angle really didn't help because it too suffered from repetitive syndrome! I also had a hard time understanding how and why two seemingly smart people could have gone to such extremes when it comes to relationships and sex. It just didn't seem believable! In fact, much of the plot was unrealistic/unbelievable, to the point where I really didn't care what was happening to the characters anymore.
I think I will avoid the author in the future, once I get the other two books read and reviewed.
Hot! Hot! Hot! Jules and Scar have finally reconnected after six years. Their meeting in the hospital emergency room is anything but romantic.
When they were in high school they saw their fathers' cheating and the pain that infidility caused their mothers' and the rest of the family. Because of that neither of them have had, nor have they wanted to enter into a relationship. Now that they have meet again, can they take a chance with each other?
Addiction, stalking and recovery? This book is so well written and the emotions of the characters are so real. You will be drawn in and won't want to put this book down! I Loved This Book!!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.
This is a contemporary erotic romance set in New York City. I love the beginning of this book I think it's the best beginning I've read in a while. I literally laughed out loud at their reunion scene. I really enjoyed this story, neither of these two wanted or felt they deserved a committed relationship, yet they were so right for one another. There are some twists and suspense, book kept me on my toes wondering what was going to scare her more of the relationship. In my opinion this was an awesome read and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I read it in one sitting, couldn't put it down. I would really like to read Zoey and Ace's story next. :)
Scar and Julia are an amazing couple. Scar has some trust issues and so does Julia. They each have their own pasts to overcome. They first meet in high school then again 6 years later and once again 4 years later. Julia becomes a doctor and Scar owns his own night club. I couldn't put the book down.
This is a wonderful story. It is filled with so many twists, there was no telling what was going to happen next. I was also impress with how the story addressed trust issues in people and relationships. This is definitely a story worth reading.
And, if I had to choose,I would pick the next book to be about Trish and Axel.
Cheaters Anonymous is a breathtakingly beautiful yet soul grippingly raw look at the dangerously desperate lengths to which the human heart and soul will go to in its search for a life changing love that was carelessly ripped away. There is nothing typical about this story. Nothing this real can leave us the same afterwards. This story completely shredded my heart and left me in a painful desperation for healing and hope. What you find displayed on the pages of this book is a very cold, hard, and calculating view of love and relationships. However, with the depth of pain meticulously portrayed comes the slow but steady pulse of life and hope that was never dead but just left tucked haphazardly in the corner of a dark, dusty closet of fear.
Just when Julia thought her life was ending was when she unknowingly found and began her own great love story. However, this story isn’t filled with romantic music and beautiful roses. There were no unforgettable dates and passion filled nights. When she found her soulmate and best friend, she felt the comfortingly deep connection and confusingly easy intimacy, but she allowed her mind to overrule her heart and thus began her unforgettably heart wrenching and soul crushing journey to fulfilling a desire that refused to be satisfied with endless counterfeits. Scar was hurt so deeply at a young age that he vowed to live his life in such a deliberating detached manner that he would have ripped out his own heart if it wouldn’t have stopped it from beating. However, what he didn’t expect was to be presented with the one person who could transform not only his thinking but resurrect his desire to live life and not fear his own heart and deepest desires. Can two highly jaded and severely broken and hurting individuals discover the courage and determination necessary to open themselves up to complete and utter devastation at the hand of the only person who has ever meant anything to them? Can they learn to trust and love without any boundaries and second guessing, or will they fall into old habits out of unbearable fear and disturbing revelations?
To say that this story took me completely by surprise, would be the understatement of my entire life. I would never have thought that anyone would have had the guts and the courage and the heart to write such an extraordinarily real and agonizingly raw journey. There was no easing into this story. You feel into it face first like Alice helplessly ensnared down the rabbit hole. Julia and Scar have touched my heart like no other characters ever have. They were beyond real to me, and I couldn’t stop the pain I felt as I watched them make each decision that held them spellbound to a life built on lies and deception. Thankfully, my internal torture was given a heavenly reprieve as I saw a small shaft of light and hope slowly but surely grow as Julia and Scar dared to imagine and believe that there was so much more to life than they ever thought possible.
My first foray into the works of Lacy Silks has left me dizzy with delight and anxious with anticipation as to what incredible journeys I have yet to embark upon. She has proven to me that the ink she uses is the very blood that courses through her heart and the paper on which she creates is woven from bits and pieces of her own soul. The magnificent beauty that she transforms from the darkest ugliness is truly beyond words. I won’t waste your time trying to attempt to describe how it feels and weaves itself into every part of you, but instead I will strongly encourage you to find out for yourself how it feels to experience the blinding brilliance of the light that is found after being pulled from the deepest darkness that exists in our world.
Okay okay okay… we know im a title whore… and for some reason the last 5 books ive read the title totally through me for a loop… so lets talk about Cheaters Anonymous
The blurb told me We're both addicted to sex, just not with each other.
The book told me I was a sex addict and he was a whore so we aren’t going to sleep with eachother until its real
How annoying right! So that brings me to my rating *drum roll* 4.5 cheater stars I discovered Silks with an ARC of Dazzled by Silver which is the prequel to the Layers series. And it was my first ever ARC when I decided to get serious about reading. I never continued the Layers series a ton of sex and a smidge off on the story line for me. But I will continue it.. in the future. Back to Cheaters Anon.
Lets talk about Scar before we get back to the review for just a minute…
Our story is told in Julia’s POV. the old days of hooking up with strangers were finally behind me. I mean, the temptation was there. After all, just because youre a vegetarian, bacon doesn’t smell any less delicious Julia is a ER doctor and a recovering sex a holic after one night with a stranger turned into a stabbing and bruising and she was left for dead and her sister paid to eliminate her debt to the courtesan service that the only way to get out of was death and her friend treated her in the hospital. Scar is the friend she met as an outcast on the bleachers and they decided their life goal was to break couples up and they were good at it. Both of them believing that love and feelings aren’t forever. Scar comes from money and Julia came from money needing the inheritance to clear her debt. So this isn’t your rich boy falls for poor girl routine. They had money, they could have been little perfect cookie cutter people but they weren’t. The intensity between Scar and Julia is what kept this book in a 5 star region for me. There are some crazy plot twists in here that I wish weren’t briefly mentioned and skipped over. It kept the book as a 5 star but not top faves. This book is about: friendship, addiction, love, loss, cheating, rekindling, forgiveness, and stalking.
If you read the blurb and look at the cover, you might be forgiven for expecting this book to be full of sex. It isn’t. Julia might have a sex addiction, but she’s in recovery and has been avoiding sex for a year (or is it two? I got a bit confused about that). Likewise, Scar has his issues too, but this is told entirely from Julia’s POV and so we don’t see him get up to anything exciting – unless it’s with Julia. As for them remaining friends, well, that doesn’t seem to be the agreement at all, since Scar clearly wants more from the moment they meet up again.
There’s a lot of thinking about sex and talking about it, but actual action takes a long time to happen, so if you’re expecting a bonk-fest, you will be disappointed. On the other hand, this has a lot more substance than I anticipated. Not just in the tentative building of the relationship between Julia and Scar (and oh, how I would have loved to know known what Scar was thinking at several points in this book), but in various family relationships and the creepy behaviour of a certain nasty piece of work.
All right, if I’m honest, there were several things I would have liked clarified or at least explained a little better. Not least Scar’s various teenage hangups. How did he discover his father’s infidelity and make the leap to him being a cuckoo? As more information comes out on just what happened there (and isn’t that a convoluted side-plot), I was left wondering how Scar discovered that in the first place. Then there’s the whole throw-away comment about how he ended up so scarred. That just… I didn’t quite know what to make of that. As for the origin of Julia’s tattoo – again, I know she had a problem, but from that to how she ended up was quite a leap. It also felt like a tenuous way to leave her open to blackmail.
Unnecessarily complicated and overly dramatic complications aside, this is a good story. Yes, at times, Julia seems to be building entire mountain ranges out of whatever molehills she can scrabble up, and for someone who has apparently sworn off all relationships because people always cheat, Scar is exceedingly quick to grab hold of Julia and obviously reluctant to let her go (even if you take the prequel story, When Things Go Wrong into account). I think I would have liked a little more talk between the two of them about Julia’s past and problems, and Scar’s too, but considering some of the subject matter this never went quite as dark as I feared it might.
In all it’s an enjoyable read, with plenty of chemistry and some nicely steamy scenes. The content is most definitely adult throughout, but I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as erotica. It’s hot, but not overwhelmingly so, and there’s not the slightest hint of anything kinky. The building relationship has its sweet as well as sexy moments and the stalker plot definitely held my attention all the way to the end. I’d love to read about either of Scar’s brothers next, but if I had to choose… I’d pick Axel, simply because I wanted to smack Ace for the way he wound Julia up (even if I do want to know how he and Zoey met).
(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
I feel like I'm totally new to the Lacey Silks bandwagon, Cheaters Anonymous was the second book I'd read by her and only because it recommended reading 'When Things Go Wrong' a short novella prequel before it.I read the books back to back and was so excited to start Cheaters Anonymous that I literally almost peed my pants (As Juliet Roberts once famously said).
The cover of this book just had me hooked. It looked so bad (No not bad terrible), so naughty almost that it had me intrigued. It was like that big red button I shouldn't press. However, when I started reading this book I was really surprised, it wasn't what I was expecting at all.
There is so much more to Jules and Scar than I can really write in this review (Not unless you want me to give away spoilers etc, which I just don't do). Its a unique story, I've never read a book on a female sex addict and found Jules really interesting to read about. I loved how she permanently had to second guess her feelings because of her previous addiction, it made for a great read. I don't feel I'm giving a lot away telling you that about her, you soon learn it in the first 2 chapters. However, what comes after that was what blew me away a little.
I was honestly expecting the usual New adult erotica shit and I feel I should apologise now to Lacey Silks for making that assumption on her work. This book is detailed, its a story that grows into something really good. There's mystery with a good underlying thriller part too. I loved Scars family and felt they deserved their whole own series, especially his parents! I loved the settings, the ideas, I just loved everything about this book.
If you want me to nit pick, I will say the climax scene towards the end was a little bit quick, that would have been cooler if it were elaborated on, but that's it. Cheaters Anonymous was a great book and one I really recommend. I will say that by reading When Things Go Wrong first you would get a better ideas of the history 6 years before, but in honesty its the background of when they were at school which is more important and that's covered in this book - 4 solid stars!
Cheaters Anonymous is an amazingly entertaining stand alone novel. However, it has been suggested by the author to read the prequel When Things Go Wrong (that is a link to my review of WTGW here on KB) before Cheaters Anonymous to get some background and a feel for where Nick (Scar) and Jules started.
I absolutely loved Scar and Jules together. They are sexy, funny, snarky, entertaining, laugh out loud and spill some tears… and did I mention sex? Yeah, these two are simply amazing.
It’s been six years since Jules and Nick survived an avalanche together in such a hot and unconventional manner. (Hey, you have to do what you gotta do to preserve body heat in that situation. *wink*) Jules is now an ER doctor and Nick is the owner of a strip club – both now in New York City. They met up again in a hilarious fashion (think embarrassing penis pump placement). Jules will track down Nick at his club and they will reconnect in every way possible.
I truly think this is a novel that you just have to experience by reading it yourself. It will touch your emotions on so many levels that you will never see coming. The writing is solid, and moves along at a good pace. I never felt I was “waiting” for the next part to happen. Jules has gone through a lot since she left Nick on the ski slopes. She worries that it might be too much.
There are layers to Cheaters Anonymous that looking at the cover or reading the synopsis just will not clue you in on. Yes, we have a very hot, sexual couple. Yes, they are trying not to fall in love. But there is more. An unresolved incident from Jules’ past and an addiction that really is not addressed often in fiction.
I honestly believe this is a novel that is worth your time. While I would recommend it for a mature audience, it is so much more than erotica… it is the story of addiction, resolution and a lasting love. Pick this one up and simply enjoy it – on every level. I gave it a rare 5 stars, because this one went above and beyond a great story.
*I received an e-ARC of Cheaters Anonymous from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
Wow! Just when I think I couldn't love is Author's writing anymore she does this! This book was absolutely stunningly amazing from start to finish! One hundred percent this has to be in the top five books I have read this year I loved it that much!
I loved the story line to this book. It was so completely original and out there and in a world with millions of books it's not often you come across one like this. Not only was the base story line something unique but it is also not an insta love read. This couple goes through so much over the years before they get their happily ever after and I was completely submerged in their world dying of all the angst!
Another thing I loved is that I couldn't necessarily predict how this was all going to turn out. I had my suspicions but the Author has done such a great job at creating all these twists and turns that you are left second guessing yourself all the way through.
Scar....wow where to even begin with him. That man made me swoon something fierce! I'm pretty sure he has just become my number one book boyfriend and I am desperate for more of him! I honestly could have read a whole entire series about these two I just loved them that much!
I adored how strong and independent Jules was and the commitment she made to herself and her well being was really an honor to read about. She was easy to relate to even if it wasn't in the exact same situation we have all been in a similar place as Jules so it was really nice to see an honest struggle going on within her. I was completely in awe of her and her story sucked me in and had me sitting here with my kindle routing for her to succeed.
Honestly there are a million things I could say about why this book was so amazing. I don't think there was a single thing I would change about it other than I never wanted it to stop!

Cheaters Anonymous is contemporary romance novel by bestselling author Lacey Silks that weaves together a bit of angst and comedy along with doses of suspense. While this can be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading the prequel novella, When Things Go Wrong, before tackling this one. The novella provides a back story that kind of makes it easier to understand why Jules became addicted to sex. And hello, the time they spent together in the cave will be worth the few minutes you put into it.
I enjoyed reading Jules and Scar's love story and liked how they didn't immediately jump into bed together even though the urge to do so was so great. When it came to sleeping with other people, they had already been there and done that, but because they wanted to try dating and being in a relationship with the one person they felt they belonged with, they underwent the whole courtship process. Well, courtship in a modern sense. ^.^ The evolution of their relationship was fun and interesting to read about.
There's a twist to the story that I didn't see coming until it was close to the revelation, meaning I figured it out before it was revealed but it still took me longer than usual, which is always a good thing because I like being surprised by the books I read. Scar's brothers were rather intriguing and I wouldn't mind reading their stories in the future. If I had to choose whose story would be told first, I'd go with Axel and Trish's story. Overall, Cheaters Anonymous was an entertaining read and it gets four stars from me. ♥
This is the 6 years later story of the Scar AKA Nick and Julie story (Continuation of When Things Go Wrong.)
There is more than one type of addiction...
"Cheaters Anonymous" is another word for the addiction ...
What happens when life gives you a second (ok this should be labeled as a third) chance a something...
"Who are you, and what have you done with Scar?"
"I am a man who's made too many mistakes and has been given a chance to correct one of them. Please don't rob me of that chance?"
But Julie has a problem... An addiction to ... One that has caused her to question things in her life.
And Scar has a commitment issue or does he?
"This will be difficult for both of us. You're the last person I want to hurt Jules and I need to make sure that I commit to this with every last fiber of my being. I want to be everything you ever imagined a good man to be and since I've never been one it makes it hard to gauge what it takes. I want to give you all that I have and all that I am I just don't know how. At this moment I need to make changes in my life to continue this. And their big ones. And if I'm not successful I may lose you before I even have you."
But they must trust each other.
"My track record with relationships isn't exactly perfect."
Will they get their HEA?
Well written, enjoyable and captivating read that will have you turning pages to see how the story unfolds.
The only downside is that some sections it seems like it was just drawnout to find a resolution and conclusion to what will happen next...
The storyline was sometimes unpredictable and predictable...
I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
WOW HOT I just finish reading this book and I love it, I am so glad that I got to read ( WHEN THING GOES WRONG) first, cause I got to understand this story much better, this book have some drama, action, and some Hot Hot words, I felt in love with this book, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.
If you read WHEN THING GOES WRONG, than you know more about Jules and Scars, This is the continue of their story.
The story begging with Jules, now she is an ER Doctor and she haven't seen Scar for the last six years, but all that changes when they tell her that she is needed for a new patient, but what she was not expecting was for that patient to be Scar, now a week later after she seen him she decided to go see his club, that's when Scar seen her and knew what he wanted, he knew he was ready to tried to have a relationship and he knew he wanted that with Jules, while they think about that some one from their past comes to the front, and that's when all the drama start to happen, will they give their feeling a chance.
The title of this book is kind of tricky but its understandable, since it is about giving a chance to love and to be fateful to that person.
I love the way how Scar and Jules are with each other, I love how Scar talk love is dirty talk, and love it how it don't take Jules much to get turn on by him I just love the book.
Author Lacey Silks THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome Hot book and this wonderful characters love them and I really hope that you get to write Trish and Axel story would love to read it.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. I don't honestly think I could say enough about this book. I was floored by the depth of the emotions within its covers. Ms. Silks managed to grab not only my attention, but my very being, in this gut-wrenching story of a pair of "miss-matched" high school friends and their trials and tribulations that finally brought them together over the course of 11 years. The challenges that both have had to hurdle throughout the years, only gives them that much more strength to finally climb to the top of their self-inflicted mountains of pain, in order to be able to allow themselves the chance of being able of not only finding, but feeling the love that has always been there between them. Lacey Silks has a wonderful gift of pulling emotions out of the words and making you feel every one of them. This book is so packed full of these, that it is hard to believe that this is simply drawn from her imagination. The plot of this book is exceptional. It has a flow about it that is almost surreal. I found it a bit slow in the first few pages, but once I got through them, I was hardly able to put it down until I was finished. I know I will be recommending this book to my friends. It was the perfect mix of suspense, heartache and love, with pinches of hot sex and gruesome gore all mixed in. A definite must read in my opinion. Loved it. I hope we get a chance to read the story behind the other Wagner siblings. I'm sure they all have a wonderful story to tell also, especially Zoey and Ace, seeing that not only is Ace Scar's brother, but Zoey being Julia's sister.
Cheaters Anonymous is a stand alone novel, I recommend reading the prequel When Things Go Wrong before reading the novel.
Scar and Jules met in high school, they were both sex addicts and decided it was best to remain friends rather than to hurt each other. They reconnected in the prequel When Things Go Wrong, but Scar left just as things between them were heating up.
Fast forward...Jules is working in the ER when a new patient arrives in the ER with huge erection thanks to a dumb prank. Jules can't get get past the feeling that she knows the man laying in the ER, the distinct smell of vanilla and flower aroma fills her lungs, she looks at the chart...none other than Nicholas Wagner, only she knew him as Scar.
As Scar awakes, he says "I know you". Jules still can't get over the fact that he's laying there, she's been trying to get over him and her sex addition, this certainly is not helping matters.
"It's a shitty feeling knowing that the one person you'd like to fall in love with is someone you can't."
Little did Jules know that Scar felt the same way about her, but just couldn't bring himself to admit it.
This novel has a lot of twists and turns and some surprises! I'm so glad that Jules and Scar have a HEA! I'm looking forward to an update on them and their bundle of joy, along with novels about Axel and Trish and Zoey and Ace!
Six long hard years later Jules runs into the last person she ever expected Scar. Scar has shared so very much of her past and part of who she is today. After all those years of convincing each other that people always cheated eventually. Neither ever being in an actual relationship of any kind.
Jules has become a very successful doctor. I liked her from the get go but it was also very evident that she was not as put together as she hoped. Knowing that her life was missing something but working to make her career what she needed to keep her occupied. She is very reluctant and concerned about making the right decisions.
Life has not been easy for the bastard child Scar. He has put the most stress of the situation on himself. This causing issues with both his father and mother over the years. Thinking he was doing what was best for Jules all those years ago when he left her. Learning much later that he was punishing them more.
This book moves along at high speed so be sure to hang on for the ride. Secrets are shared, stalkers out for a prize, lives intertwined more than one could ever imagine. Can Scar get Jules to open up and realize what he has started to come to terms with. Can he keep her safe from harms way. Can they leave the past behind and move forward. I can't wait to see who get their story next.
