Sometimes it's not the wolves who pose the danger... There’s a downside to living in a secret society. Someone has to ensure it remains that way. ‘Bull’ Bulworth is that someone. His current assignment: track a young man who has an unrecognized wolf inside him and eliminate the problem before the truth about Wolvers is exposed to the human world. It’s a simple and straightforward assignment until he meets a woman who makes him think crazy might be contagious. In her own words, Tommie Bane is nuttier than a pecan tree. There’s a voice in her head telling her she is something other than human, and a creature she swears is running around inside her body. Just when she’s at the lowest point in her weird and nutty life, she meets a man who tells her it’s all real. Should she listen to the voice of reason or to the voice in her head that keeps shouting “Mate”? What do you have to lose when you've already lost your mind? For Tommie, it could be her life

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!! ***Received the ebook for an honest review
The cover is perfect and definitely beckons me to it!! :) Love it!!
I have loved every book I have read by Jacqueline so far :) I am always pulled into her stories and just can’t put them down. I was up way too late last night trying to finish it last night, but finally had to call it or I wouldn’t have gotten 4 hours of sleep. So as soon as I got out of the shower this morning, I finished the last couple of chapters. Her descriptions and story lines always make for a wonderful story full of adventure to keep you completely ensconced in her Wolver world.
This one was an emotional rollercoaster. On several occasions, I was crying, laughing, and cheering for butt kicking. Tommie is amazingly strong, but she doesn’t even realize she is. Bull is awesome, but I love that Tommie always gets the last word….hilarious :)
The only part that makes me sad is there isn’t anything more to read. I don’t want to wait for more of this fabulous world that Jacqueline has created. I know I have mentioned it on occasion, but I’m not so patient on the waiting game, but thankfully she never leaves us hanging at the end of the book and it’s always a happy ending!!
I highly recommend this series to all those shifter lovers out there :) It is AWESOME!!!
Loved this story, with enforcer H trying to protect his community. His current job is to eliminate the h. He thinks she's feral and a male. She thinks she has schizophrenia. She's wonderful, feisty and determined to do her best before she's dies. I loved how she talked to the voice in her head. Together this couple fight an evil alpha, fall in love and save a pathetic group of feral wolvers. Well written story, great characters and for me, a slightly too sweet ending. A favourite couple in the series.
Wolver’s Rescue is book five in this popular shifter series (Rabbit Creek Santa being a novella). The setting begins in the office of the mysterious Mr. Begley, as he assigns a job to one of his pack, a hunter/enforcer named William “Bull” Bulworth. Bull has a dark and lonely job of hunting and either eliminating (killing) rogue wolvers or changing them to permanently wolf form. We find our heroine at an asylum for the criminally insane. We find that not all things in this hospital are what they seem. I don’t do spoilers and this is a marvelous read you’ll want to experience for yourself. Ms. Rhoades has outdone her usual fine job of intricate plotting and marvelous characters. She delves into the dark world of the insane and those who try to make others believe they are. However, it’s not all dark and spooky. The wonderful cast of characters are well written, with humor, sincerity, and even a bit of teen angst. These are people you love to read about and hate to leave them when the story ends. The plot is intriguing and twisty. You get to discover, along with the cast, the circles within circles of fated meetings and rescues in this marvelously well told story. You learn more about the Wolver community as a whole as the story progresses and the issues of keeping your species a secret from the human community and at the same time trying to find a place to live peacefully with your differences. I’m sure if you love shifter books, or maybe even if you’ve never read one, this book will thrill you with adventure, danger, humor, and emotion. The love scenes are not gratuitous sex, but natural, loving and very emotional. Grab your favorite beverage, a box of tissues and settle in for a wonderful ride of fun and emotion! Enjoy everyone, I certainly did!
This novel is vividly written, telling a story that is both heartfelt and imaginative. I love the way that Rhoades combines a variety of subject matter, many very hard-hitting, into a story that not only captures your heart, but also makes you think and contemplate the world around you. There is an intensity underlying Rhoades’ writing that keeps you coming back for more. My heart broke for these characters by the end of the prologue, but watching them fight their way back was not only a fantastic story, but very reaffirming in and of itself. This well written and presented novel was definitely a joy to read.
The heroine in this novel is possibly the most unique romance heroine I’ve ever encountered. The life she’s lived combined with her actions throughout the story in a remarkable manner. Rhoades’ multifaceted character development brought her to life in such a vivid way that I couldn’t help but feel intimately acquainted with her. Her strength and vulnerability were counterpoints to one another that really made her who she was. I really enjoyed the deeper look into who Eugene is and what he does. With that came a deeper understanding of Wolvers in general, more than simply the individual packs.
This incredibly lifelike and wildly imaginative tale is by far Rhoades’ best yet. She combines the best and the worst of humanity with the fantasy of the Wolvers in a way that is uniquely hers.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
In my mind I will always think of Wolver's Rescue as the book about the Cuckoo and the Cop. A wolver who think's she nuts because she hears a voice in her head. Now that's funny. Okay so there's a bit more to that but I still think it's funny. As for the cop, he's not exactly a cop. He's more of a secret enforcer. He has is reasons and they are good ones. I always can appreciate when an author takes their time to allow the story to unfold thorough the book instead of info overload in the beginning and with this story we get a great build up with little side trips as characters and situations are introduced. I really enjoyed Tommie and Bull together and not just because the sex was steamy hot. Oh no, their verbal sparring and the situations they found themselves in definitely kept the story interesting. My favorite part of the story is when Tommie finally learns Bulls name. Hee-hee, Hello Abbot and Costello!
Over-all this was a fun story to read and I hardly could put the book down. But it has its serious sides like Tommie and Bull's background. Awww...Bull's just broke my heart. I loved all the secondary characters. Tommie is such a magpie collecting people that this lovable group of ragamuffin omega rejects were just what she needed. As colorful as they are I think they made the perfect pack. Everybody gets a HEA here (okay, ALMOST everybody) and the Epilogue, why am I not surprised! It made a perfect sense to end it this way! Yep...big smiles here.
What can I say but I love this series! Ms Rhoades has created a unique little world here with her wolvers. Every book in the series has had me alternating between laughing and crying and I wouldn't want it any other way. If you are into paranormals this is a series you NEED to read. Make sure to start from the very beginning. You're gonna love it as much as I do. Now to bid my time waiting to see what Ms. Rhoades comes up with next.
I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
Once again Jacqueline Rhoades leaves you wanting more , From the time I picked up the wolver's rescue I couldn't put it down. Bull Bulworth is given an assignment to eliminate a feral wolver called Thomas Bane, but little does he know that Thomas stands for Thomasina (Tommie) for short. It was suppose to be a simple assignment little did he know. From the time bull tracks her down in a mental institute being tortured and locked up in a cage , it takes u on a wild ride of discovery. Tommie has this almost innocence to her , and who ever she befriends cannot help being drawn to her , even the hard and tough bull cannot resist.
You will not be disappointed in this novel , like all of Jacqueline Rhoades other novels, I know cannot wait to see what see brings out next .
Series just keeps getting better. When I heard there was going to be a 6th, I was thrilled! The characters Bull and Spitfire were a joy to get to know. The humor in this one was giggle worthy. The heart and determination of Thomie was contagious even Bull could not escape it. Another must read from Jacqueline Rhoades!
Ms. Rhoades and her audios is one of the authors that changed my mind on Paranormal along with wolves & Shifters. Through her talent of writing I have come to love this genre as she takes me to a fantasy land where humans become wolvers. The series is basic on family and family values as the pack becomes one. I just adore the man behind all the matting putting them together as they learn what they need to and bring a pack to a family. There is much pain and sorrow when one man wants to make a name for his self as he tries his best to put the wolvers on the map. This group tries their best to keep themselves unknown as they fight the doctor to bring home all the wolvers he has taken. This group must learn to be a pack to outsmart their alpha and the doctor both who are only out for themselves. Can a pack of misfits come together learn to be a pack and take back their lives?
From the start you know Bull is a strong male his job is to get rid of the wolvers that have gone wild. He is on the hunt for Thomas as he falls over the female wolver in a cage. The site he sees is hurtful, the abuse she has went through is bad. He helps her get out but wishes he would have left her behind. This is one crazy woman who leads him to just as crazy group of other wolvers. He must learn what is important as he takes on the challenge to help these people and find them a pack who will work together. He might find his leg was pulled and he has a few things to learn.
You have to feel for Tommie and all that she has gone through. She has lost everything when her old time friend turns on her and puts her in a cage. She hears voices in her head all she wants is help to understand what they are and make them go away. He wants something totally different she won't give in. When a man comes in and lets her out of the cage she turns on him. She is scared and she has had reason to be. Bull has his hands full bring this little lady to heel as she turns his world upside down with her many tricks to try to get away.
This was one very humorous read, it was painful as you watch what they do to these wolvers but at the same time you cannot help but laugh at how Tommie and Bull bait each other as tempters rise and they butt heads. This was one highly entertaining read that had me wanting to listen to it all at once. The passion is hot as well as the many scenes as they go through taking down bad men and bring a pack together. The author throws in many twists and turns to keep you entertained. She bring you danger, thrills and fights as this group of misfits learns to fight together and get the true meaning of what a pack is. There are times you will want to cry at other times you will cheer them on. There will even be times you will laugh so hard you almost cry. The author gives you times where your heart beats so fast as to what the outcome could be.
Holly Adams is a wonderful narrator that I could listen to all day. Her many different voices are outstanding. You never guess who is talking whether it be male or female. Her tones are even as she hits each emotion just right. There is no any background noise it sounds as if she did the audio all at once. You are so going to love any book she narrates.
I have not read or listen to anything by this author I haven't totally loved. She knows how to pull you in keep your attention leaving you wanting more. This is the last book in the series for now, I so wish there were more and cannot wait until the next one is written. I have come to love these people and all they stand for. Each book can be a standalone but much better if you start with the first one. Each book is full of humor, passion, things that are important, pack, leaders, alpha and strong women. This is one author that is truly amazing and very talented writer. She shows you the true meaning of love, working together as she keeps the true value of her series intact. Before you know if she will have you believing there truly are wolvers out there. You will come to love them and wish you could be part of their pack. Ms. Rhoades keeps the same rules throughout her series, nothing changes she brings back a few characters which is nice to always see how they are doing. She isn't an author that writes just one series at a time but somehow she always remembers the details so that it looks like she writes them one after the other. She is truly an amazing author that you do not want to miss. I love all the characters as I love how this authors mind works in giving me outstanding reads one after another. I highly recommend any book this author rights. She is one of my go to authors. I know I have to have any book she writes.
I love that feeling you get when you have a new book and just before you dive in you get all giddy and excited cause you just can't wait to see what happens but you have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that it is going to rock one hundred percent. This series does this to me every single time and this time was no exception even though I was unwell and almost positive I had some mutated strain of the man-flu I still got giddy about starting this book. It was an excellent pick me up and although the fuzzy head meant it took me longer to read it was just like stretching out my enjoyment but there was always that much happening that no matter how impatient I am I never actually skipped to the end to see what happened which is quite a feat for me cause there are times that I get totally bored of a book after a few hours never mind days. Anyways, for this book I avoided reading the teasers, so all I actually knew going in was that the author had stated it was quite different to the rest of books in the series. I will be honest, hearing that at times makes me apprehensive but you just have to trust that the author knows best and wouldn't do anything too horrific to the series. Thankfully in this instance that was the case. It was in so many ways unlike any of the books that had came previously while still holding enough details to link it to the rest of the series. The author has managed to once again write something totally new that I personally have not come across ever before and the results were fantastic. Tommie is a nut and has really lost her way in life due to her 'illness' she doesn't know where to turn or what to do and is on the verge of giving up. Bull is a bit of a mystery, although he likes to present himself as a bit of a bad-ass with a cold heart you soon see a very different side to him. As always with the series each of the characters no matter how small a role they play jump off the page, as much as I find myself adoring the main characters in each of the books they would honestly be nothing without the supporting characters who make the story so much more. The author has this way of pulling you into the story and making it easy for you to visualise every detail as you go along without getting bogged down in scene setting. This is a series that I hope will continue for a good while at least, it certainly seems to only improve as it goes and you honestly can never quite tell what will happen next. I do so love the twists and turns that come at you from beginning to end and the way in which the author can leave you desperate to know what happens next without making it hard to follow, at no point in the book was I confused about what was happening regardless of how busy the scene and that to me is one of the key things to get right cause there is nothing worse than having to re-read parts cause you've ended up with no idea what is actually going on. Overall this is another absolutely fantastic read that I could not put down and I was (almost) thankful for the excuse of not being well meaning no one expected me to do anything at least until the book was finished. As always I would recommend this book to pretty much everyone, there is a good balance between story and steam, and things hot up enough to satisfy most tastes. Although the book would actually be very easily read as a stand alone you really should read the series from the beginning purely due to the fact that it really is a great series that you won't want to miss.
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
If you’ve followed me for a while then you know that I am very familiar with this author, in fact she is one of the few that I can say I’ve read (and enjoyed) everything she has written. I have to say though, this book, this is probably my favorite of everything I’ve read. Now I probably need to go back and reread sometime to verify that, but something about this story just clicked for me. I was so upset that I didn’t have the time recently to just sit down and devour it in one sitting. I wanted to tell the world and life to go away and let me read, dammit.
I have noticed that Ms. Rhoades has the ability to take her established series and reinvent them, while keeping the same rules and structure so that they continue to feel a part of the whole. The last book shook things up quite a bit and this one too has quite a different feel from previous books. I love this, it keeps the series fresh and interesting. Tommie and Bull’s story took a much darker turn from previous stories and at times, in the beginning, I was almost reading though my fingers as I couldn’t bare to witness what was happening. It was gritty and dark and very realistic, for a fictional world about shape shifters that is… In this book we get to see a different side of the Wolver world that perhaps isn’t as pleasant and the one the other stories take place in.
The fun characters that span a wide spectrum of personalities and quirks are one of the things I enjoy most about Ms. Rhoades’s books, and she did not disappoint in her latest release. The main one that connected this to the other stories was Eugene Begley who continues to play this world’s matchmaker extraordinaire. He is a fun Wolver and I was happy to see him get some actual page time in this book we got a chance to know him better. The main story centers around Tommie and Bull, who both surprised me as a departure from what I usually expect in this series. Both of them come with plenty of issues and a stubborn streak a mile wide. I loved their personalities though. Tommie had such optimism, determination and strength to her. I loved how she stood up to pretty much everybody and for everyone. I admired and connected with her compassion and quirks. She is what made this story for me. Bull was a lot of fun and had such a mouth on him. I enjoyed his change; watching him open up and let the other characters in to his heart was touching. These two are a great paring and I loved how Ms. Rhoades worked their lives and story into a complete circle. I don’t want to giveaway more, but I loved the piece of the puzzle we got at the very end the most.
The plot and pacing was well done. Lots of action and plenty of fun moments too, she writes a nice balance of drama, humor and steam. This author keeps things moving and you guessing about what is going to happen next. Just when you thing surely this must be the end, there is still 50 or more pages of drama to work out. I really appreciate this, it means we don’t have left over plot twists that have to carry over to another book. No cliffhangers and Wolver’s Rescue works really well as a standalone title, so if you have not read anything else by this author feel free to pick this title up and give it try. I bet it hooks you and soon you will have devoured the entire series.
Setting: US contemporary Genre: Paranormal romance William "Bull" Bulworth is an alpha wolver in a small all-alpha pack whose members are charged with taking care of problems that threaten their exposure to the human world. He and his colleagues are essentially terminators going after feral wolvers. His latest assignment is to find Thomas Mortimer Bane who is a wolver but doesn't know it. His investigation leads him to the Gantnor clinic, an institution for the criminally insane. While looking for his target, he finds a filthy, emaciated female wolver in a cage. He decides, against his better judgement, to take her along while he continues his search. He finds out after temporarily giving up the search that the young woman is, in fact, Thomas Mortimer Bane. She explains that her name was supposed to be Thomasina, but there was an error on the birth certificate her adoptive parents never fixed. Bull has to decide what to do with Tommie. She needs to be either turned into a wolf permanently and turned loose in a wilderness area where she probably wouldn't last long, or put down. Bull has to decide which one. I liked the characters in this book. Bull is a hard-ass, and Tommie is strong. Both of them have troubled pasts with disturbed childhood events. I enjoyed the plot as well. There's mystery, a bit of suspense, and, of course, romance. I found there were clues that were primarily for the reader, because the the characters didn't know everything to put it all together. Even after I'd finished the book I was saying "ohhhh" as I put it all together. I did have a problem with the characters not getting all the information the reader gets, so they can't put it all together. Overall, a nice book.
I Loved This Book! Great characters and great plot.
Fantastic book. In the prior books in the series Eugene is introduced as a somewhat elusive character who seems to know when a woman will make a good alpha's mate. He acts almost like a matchmaker, but one who does it on the sly. In this book we learn a little more about Eugene, and the wolvers who work for him, one of which is Bull. This book is Bull's story and it is a good one. Bull is on his last job; he is ready to retire and get away from the stress of a very difficult and thankless job (definitely not matchmaking!),that most of the time involves someone dying. While on the job Bull finds Tommie, a young woman who is terribly unstable and being horribly abused. He must decide if she is a threat to the wolvers and who is abusing this young woman and why. This was a fascinating story. It made me mad at the cruelty to the innocent, it made me anxious for the wolvers to find justice, and it made me hope for some happiness for those who have suffered a long time. One of the best things about this book is that it had a complex plot that took the story in several directions. The book was not just about Bull and Tommie, it had several sub-plots that kept you guessing and turning the pages until you finish the book. I could not put it down.
Tommie and Bull. Bull is one of Eugene Bagley's Alphas. He's sent on a mission to 'take care of' a wolf gone feral by the name of Thomas Bane. What he finds instead is a female wolver held in a tiny cage by a psychopathic Psychiatrist. Forced to flee he takes the girl with him because she's his only link to find Thomas Bane. The girl is glad to get away from the torture the doctor subjected her to, but she does agree that she is quite nuts. She hears a voice in her head. It's talked to her since she was an adolescent. When she/they meet Bull, the voice becomes even more outspoken! Chased by the evil doctor, they team up with a rag tag group of rogue omega wolves on the run from an evil alpha. There's no shortage of bad guys in this one! Both Tommie and Bull are strong characters and it's fun reading about them getting to know each other. Constantly hampered by their erroneous and misinformed assumptions about each other. Bull starts out as a cold, level headed assassin, but over time, finds himself turning into the compassionate Alpha the Tommie and the group of misfits need. A great read, full of colourful characters! My fave of the series so far... Thought this was the last of the series, but so glad to see there is a #7 now!
Bull is a member of a unique pack with Eugene Begley as the Alpha. His pack members are hand selected to assist Eugene in uphold the Convocation of Wolves and their Primal Laws. Bull has special talents and is always the one who is called to handle wolvers who are on the verge or have already turned feral. When he is assigned the task of handling Thomas Bane, he thinks it'll be like any other job...wrong!
Tommie is caged like an animal and left to be tested on by a man who she thought was a family friend. Dr. Gantor knows what Tommie is, but not how to effectively get her change to happen. When Bull finds the young woman is a cage is a mental hospital, he thinks she'll be his link to finding Thomas Bane. To his shock, he learn she is Thomas Bane and now he is faced with a dilemma of removing her humanity, eliminating her, or embracing the feelings he has for her deep inside.
Can both Bull and Tommie face their fears and defeat Dr. Gantor? Will the past come back to haunt them? And who will stand for them when all may be lost?
Jacqueline Rhoades just keeps getting better and better!
I just finished reading Wolver's Rescue and I loved it! Each of the books in the Wolver's series is unique, but they all have something in common, other than Wolver's. They all have heart. The relationship that evolves between the main characters of Bull and Tommie is beautiful to watch, uh I mean read. Their interactions with the "Omegas" are both funny and touching. Jacqueline Rhoades writes characters that are very real. All of her characters are multi-layered as are their relationships with each other. I don't do spoilers in my reviews, but I will say this book has everything a reader could ask for. Romance, danger, humor; it is all in here. I laughed and I cried and had a smile on my face at the end. I would recommend this book to anyone! If you are a fan of Jackie and her Wolver's it is a must read! The only thing wrong with this book is it ended.
4.5 stars I have enjoyed this series from the very beginning, I think it's because it is about wolves but not big bad werewolves. Being a wolver from birth means they are human and wolf, each can hear the others thoughts. When Tommie starts to hear a voice in her head, her family thought she was crazy. Knowing what she hears is not her imagination, she also knows that no one believes her, and only talks to a family friend about it all. He happens to be a doctor, so he uses that to his advantage to lock Tommie away in the nut house where he works. Bull is a wolver, he is also a lone wolf who works jobs eliminating other wolvers who have gone feral. Being sent to find and eliminate someone named Thomas, he is surprised with who he finds. I really enjoyed the love story in this book. Knowing what he wanted out of life once he completed this job, Bull never knew he would find what he was missing and needed most. Now he has everything to make his life whole.
Once again Jacqueline Rhoades blew me away and gave me a new community of people (Wolvers) to love.
Each book in this series has been exponentially better than the last. While this one started with darkness and my stomach clenched with anxiety as I turned each page, I could not put it down. Bull and Tommie won my heart way before they realized they were already home.
This series may even surpass Hidden Mountain as my favorite.
I love Jacqueline Rhoades and this series (and the Guardians).
OK, so this book didn't feel quite as well written; there were errors I don't expect from this author.
However, I was still completely gripped by Wolver's Rescue. It's a much harder hitting story line, and the characters have to go through tougher ordeals. It's still a must read for readers of this series.
Love this series. Jacqueline Rhoades has a different spin on shape shifters and it works. This was a very moving story, had me hooked from first page. Lots of interesting twist, hot wolver , intended mate who may be crazy. Not sure if this is end of series or not.will continue to buy if more
Wonderful book with characters that you fall in love with! Couldn't put this book down and didn't want it to end at the same time. Well worth the read!
Bull has a horrible job but feels like it's something he has to do. However it's destroying him on the inside. Tommie doesn't even realize she's a "wolver" so she has a lot to come to terms with her past. Their little pack of misfits is funny. Very good storyline.
This book started out not as I expected. The chemistry between the leading lady and the hero was off the charts during the rescue bid from the facility. It then settled into a pack mentality that I’m used to from other shifter pack books. With lots of action throughout it is a exciting book to read/listen to. Fantastic narration from Holly.
