Two Wrongs Don't Make a Write: A Cassandra Ellis Mystery

Rate this book
Author Cassie Ellis wants to meet her boyfriend's father, even though he thinks it's a bad idea. For the past nine years, Detective James Whittaker avoided contact with his father after a city-wide scandal made the elder Whittaker retire from the Baltimore Police force in shame. When Whittaker's father is suddenly accused of killing the very police officer that exposed his past crimes, Cassie risks her own reputation -- not to mention her life -- to solve the murder. This novel is the sequel to "Dead to Writes".

Cute series about a mystery writer who solves mysteries in real life. In this one, Cassie wants to clear the name of her detective boyfriend’s father, who resigned as a police officer after being accused in a scandal at the department where he supposedly was skimming money out of the proceeds from busted drug sales. Cops start ending up dead b,c someone doesn’t want her to clear Rick’s name. So we have the conflict between Cassie’s
Personal safety and her curiosity; the conflict between her Uber-good-cop boyfriend and his father; and her trying to get past her writer’s block in her next mystery. Throw in the ongoing sexual tension w/the hunky boyfriend and the descriptions of her shenanigans w/ her long-time best friend.

It all makes for an enjoyable cozy, and I did not figure out the identity of the murderer until told.
