Extra star for the format of this one. I loved that it was divided into amount of cook time needed for the recipe instead of by dish type. So often I'm putting something in the crock before work and the 4 hour dealies are just not even an option.

I made Susan's Slow-Cookin' Ribs and it was a pretty solid B with the leftovers slightly outdoing the original dish. I think I thought it would change me into a different person and make me like pork more. It didn't, so this continues to be a non magic crock pot cookbook. Still worth a look, though.

Lots of soup and stew options. Mostly chicken and beef. I didn't see any seafood. I pulled a few recipes out of here, but passed on most.

I wasn't really sold on a lot of these to be honest. For example, the idea of buying precooked meatballs that usually take 25 minutes to re-heat in the oven and spending 2 hours cooking them blows my mind. That whole recipe could probably be done in 30 minutes on the stove top. So why would I spend two+ hours cooking it in a slow cooker? Not really a put on and leave it recipe, nor is it a get home and put it on recipe. There were a few like that, but fortunately, not too many. Also there were several additional recipes where you had to do additional cooking on the stove or in the oven.

I don't know...for the number of recipes in this book I didn't find more then ten I thought I would actually make. Bad odds. Of course, it's all personal preference, so you could totally love some of these ideas where I did not. If you like chicken, beef and tomatoes, you'll do fine!

-seemed rather simplistic. some of the recipes turned something i could cook on the stove in under 20 minutes into a crockpot dish (tacos anyone?). i dont understand why they'd do that.

--recipes that looked interesting:
-stewed black eyed peas. i have a recipe for hoppin john with black eyed peas, i wouldnt mind doing them in the crockpot instead of on the stove. but i'm not going to use that recipe. i googled and found one closer to what i already make but in the crockpot.
-smoky sausage and two bean soup. i have canned beans to use up.
-teriyaki pork roast - not sure how sugar, soy sauce, and vinegar will make teriyaki sauce
-unstuffed cabbage. i have a cabbage casserole recipe i wouldnt mind doing in the crockpot. again i wont use this recipe, but i googled and found one closer to what i make but for the crockpot instead of the oven.

This is a small book for a recipe book but there were about 8 recipes I wanted to make right away. I made the first one last night (Garden-Style Fettuccine) and it was very good. I might up my rating if I like the other recipes as well. It is hard to find new crockpot recipes that are a little different.

Lots of beef recipes

I don't eat meat but substitute. I was really surprised at the number of beef vs. chicken recipes. Most people I know are eating chicken and fish. Not even a single fish recipe.

This is such an awesome cookbook. It's done by real people and the recipes are easy to follow. I've tried a good number of them and have yet to mess one up! All are pretty delicious.
