Program of the PSL: Socialism and Liberation in the United States

Rate this book
This book envisions a socialist future built upon the wealth that presently is hoarded by a very few, based upon principles of workers' democracy, cooperation, solidarity and sustainability. Sections of the book assess the validity of Marxism and Leninism, the U.S. drive for global domination, the U.S. working class today and the need for a revolutionary party.

A brief, but nice read on the history of PSL. I'm a member of Workers World Party myself but have long been interested in the history of PSL. This was informative. I do wish there would have been more on their interpretation of the national question, and more in-depth information on their struggles they've undertaken. At times I feel like there was more history being discussed then was their own personal views.

Overall, a nice read. Would definitely recommend it!

"there are only two choices for humanity today: an increasingly destructive capitalism, or socialism."

this is the platform of the party i'm working on joining. a lot of this will sound very familiar if u've read literally any Marx or Lenin. it's definitely not reinventing the wheel or anything, and it's a very basic overview of what the party is about. but i appreciate a lot of the details like the emphasis on eliminating bigotry & imperialism as immediate, first steps. i'm so happy that i'm going to be a part of this.

Interesting and concise background of the party, what their perspective is, and what they hope to gain through organizing. Definitely for the lay person, doesn't dive heavily into Marxian econ, dialectics, or anything like that which would likely drive away most people. I found that refreshing, lefties often fixate on theory so much that they forget they are trying to be understandable to people who work full time and don't sit around reading Hegel. Back to the basics.

Does a good job of clearly and concisely spelling out what the PSL stands for and why. if you're looking for a comprehensive background and in depth policy explanation, this isn't it, but if you want to know what and who the psl is, and some brief socialist history to point you in the right direction for future reading, this will briefly and efficiently get the job done.

This book is to go over the PSL's platform in what it envisions for the US government and what it fights for. It's not bogged down by old data as the issues are still very much alive today. At a little over 50+ pages it is a short read and can be read for free online.

clear, concise program and summary of marxist concepts and how they can be applied to the settler-colonial united states. functions not only as a primer for PSL members, but a grounded critique of capitalism and outline for a socialist government.
